I got into an accident very shortly after purchasing a new car (and being new to Dallas), and went to 6 different shops in a 30 mile radius to get estimates. I was worried about the honesty of estimates, being a young female who doesn't know very much about cars... Glass cars was the first shop I went to and they gave me the lowest estimate-- 75% of the next lowest estimate and half as much as the rest. I made sure they were going to fix it the same way the other shops were planning, with VW parts and paint, and they did. They were honest in giving me two ways they could fix it: one way would completely replace the door and the other would entail replacing some parts. The mechanic explained what was really necessary, and advised me to do the cheaper option of replacing some of the parts. I appreciated their honesty, for as I said, I really don't know much about cars and they could have encouraged me to spend more money than I had to. They were flexible and sent a mechanic with me to drop me off at home so they could drive my car back to the shop for 4 days. However, on the way to drop me off, someone rear ended me. The mechanic waited with me for the cops, and then dropped me off at home and took the car in. Glass Cars then patiently dealt with insurance and ended up fixing both the original damage and the damage from the rear-ending at once. I was very impressed by their customer service, and I will definitely continue to go to Glass Cars. read more

The day before a blizzard was suppose to hit Dallas I go to get in my 2003 VW Jetta on the way to work and my drivers side window just falls into the door.... RANDOM, I know. I call the VW dealership on Lemmon, explain my situation and that I would like to drop it off on my way into work. They said they would call me back..... NEVER DID. So onto plan B. I randomly found Glass Cars while doing a google search of car mechanics in the area. I called them, explained my situation and they explained to me over the phone what was probably wrong with my car and said it was no more than an $80 fix. phew! I can deal with that.... I go to drop it off and they say "we can fix this in 30 minutes if you want to wait..." (which was amazing!) My co-worker was coming to get me so I told them I would come pick it up after work. I pick it up after work and was surprised when they told me it would be $40!!!!! 1/2 of what they thought it would be..... I love that they didn't take advantage of the situation. Anyway they are AMAZING, honest, friendly, and know what they are doing. I've been back since for an oil change and I'm going back for some bodywork done on my Jetta. They may not have the glitz and the glamour on the outside but don't let that sway you.... they are great people! read more

Steve has been my guy ever since I moved back to Dallas and he is always thorough, upfront, and most importantly, sensitive to budget. He even cuts me some pretty nice deals, not infrequently, just to make sure that I get what I need at the price that we discussed. I found Glass Cars on Google, and picked them because of their high rating and number of reviews. I really didn't expect to find this kind of shop in Dallas. I've taken my car to them 3 times now, and been happy every time. Steve answers any questions I have, and I have never felt like he's trying to upsell me. Plus, I've never had to wait very long to get my car back. After the second time getting it repaired, I had a problem with the air conditioner. I never was exactly sure what happened, but they fixed it for me anyway at no cost. He said it was still under warranty. I would definitely recommend taking your car here. read more

I recently had my rear passenger window of my 2010 Nissan Rogue smashed in and needed a new car glass. I walked into Glass Cars on a Monday evening and they were friendly and helpful. I had my new car glass by 3:30 pm the next day and for a incredibly reasonable price. Being a female, I appreciated it VERY much that they did not try to upsell me or try and force their other services on me. I've taken my 2002 Audi A4 to Glass Cars a couple times over the past 6 months for unrelated reasons and each time they fixed my car quickly and for a reasonable price. Jim takes the time to explain what needs to be done before they do it and lays out your options for you. They do all they can to keep repairs at a reasonable price, without sacrificing, you know actually fixing the car. All that doesn't even get into the fact that Jim and everyone there is very nice and helpful. As frustrated as I've been with my car over the past few months, those folks at least make me feel like if something goes wrong, I don't have to be frustrated by the repair process. Just last week after work, my Honda was attacked by a sudden choke, followed by an immediate death while I was driving. I managed to pull over to the side of the road and had it towed to Glass Cars a few days later. The gentleman that took my info when I dropped off my car was very nice and professional. Obviously, there's always going to be anxiety when you're at the auto repair shop, especially for a female. I always anticipate the "rip off" switch that automatically gets turned on when a female steps into an auto shop. NOT the case at all here!! Jim, the owner called me after his initial diagnosis and informed me that it may be my ignitor. I also asked him to fix my driver side window since it's been off track for quite some time now and I never got around to fixing it. Long story short, Jim called me at work and gave me a rough estimate after informing me of what he thought the problem was and told me his plan of attack. The very next day, I rec'd another call from him telling me that my car is ready and my final total was actually LOWER then the estimate. SERIOUSLY?? That NEVER EVER happens. So if you're looking for a mechanic, you MUST go to Glass Cars. I used to live in Oak Lawn and have driven by their shop many times. I always thought that they only do body repairs and didn't know they also do mechanical repairs. Come to find, they do just about everything and lucky for me...I finally found an HONEST, professional, and customer service oriented mechanic!!! So I'm spreading the word. I was needing some thing near by my work to get my oil change done at my lunch time, because I already went over the mark of getting it done. Jim was very nice in greeting me and getting my car to the back. My car was taken care of in a timely manner and they made sure that every thing was reviewed and he gave me an update of what they did. A little higher priced oil change than what I have done before, but he topped off my anti freeze and windshield washer fluid for me and made sure my tires were aired properly, all with a great attitude and care to me bringing my car there. So, I think it was a decent price. It was nice to know that they did oil changes and such, because I have always driven by there but never knew what it was, the name makes me think they handle windshields and stuff for cars :) read more

My existence has been that GLASS is the best, no nonsense shop in Dallas, hands down. Great, honest repair shop. After bringing my 2009 Toyota Camry, which was making a lot of noise, to Toyota of Dallas, I was quoted $3400 to replace the complete exhaust system. I brought my car to Glass Cars and they took one look and told me that I didn't need to replace most of the parts quoted by Toyota. Instead, they charged me $300 and the car is running great with no more noise. I appreciate their honesty and will return when I need any more repairs. read more

BEWARE. I have been going to Glass Cars for many years, but they have new owners. I took my car there last month for a regular service. They called and told me what was needed and although it sounded like a lot I agreed. I have always trusted them! But when I went to pick up my car I realized Jim was gone and there were new owners. And I got SCAMMED. Here is what they did to my 2011 Toyota that has less than 25,000 miles on it. Rotate tires and check brakes Replace air filter Transmission fluid flush Fuel injection flush Throttle body service No oil change because I told them I had recently had that done. Any honest shop will fix what they break at no charge. They have done nothing of the sort. Instead, I get excuses, and the owner yelled and screamed that he was not going to pay for the parts, and I would also have to pay the hourly mechanical rate for the repairs that their mistakes caused. When you bring a car in for one problem, and you end up with 3 new problems you need to find a new repair shop. That is my advice to you. I I brought my car in with an ignition switch problem. Now I have a problem with my turn signal, my windshield wipers don't work and my headlights don't work.You have to remove the windshield wiper and the turn signal to do the work I paid them to do. My car didn't have any of these problems beforehand. They claim that the problem is caused by "corrosion of the electrical connections". I checked out the procedure in a manual, and they warned the reader that the electrical connections were very delicate, and if you did not take care in removing them, they would break and you have to buy a new connection harness for $100. If what they said was true, electrical connection cleaner would have cured the problem. It did not work, and any problem with corrosion is one that is easily fixed by cleaning the electrical connections. They gave me an estimate of 30 for parts, and 60 for labor. Instead, they charged me 217 Dollars. This is more than double the original estimate of $90. In short, a repair that was supposed to cost me $90, according to their original estimate, will now cost me over $500. This is not fair, They were grossly incompetent and will not take responsibility for their mechanic's mistakes.. My advice is for you to find an shop that will fix their mistakes for free as one would expect, and avoid Glass Cars. read more

I had bought a battery here in 2013. I came in today to have them test the battery and check the date of purchase. They immediately researched the date of purchase, tested the battery, got warranty approval, and replaced the battery. I was in and out in fifteen minutes. Nicest people. No hassles. Once again the people at Glass Cars took great care of me when I went in for an exterior polish for my vehicle. Turn around time was very reasonable, I couldn't have asked for it to be done any faster. Dropped it off in the morning and the car was done the same day. Car shined like glass in the sun with all swirl marks gone. Considering my car is an 05, they brought the paint back to life like when I first bought it in 08. This place is under new management and Felipe took the time to make sure that my needs were met the first time the same day. I called about 10 minutes after they were closed and the man who answered the phone was so considerate he stayed a half an hour after closing to wait for me to get there and drop off my car. They were extremely clear in explaining my options for fixing my car (broken off side mirror, dent) and gave fair price estimates. They had my car ready for me by noon the next day and for less than I expected. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Have used Glass Cars previously due to their excellent online reviews and even recommended them to friends, but no more. Took my Passat in for AC service only to have to return a week later for a second round of repairs as they hadn't actually fixed the issue the first time. Then they wanted to charge me again for duplicative work. Only cut me slightest price break after I balked. They instead referred to needing to take care of their mechanic. Repeat customer? Not so much. After keeping my car an extra day and blaming the delay on their parts supplier, I was finally able to pick up my vehicle at nearly close of business on Friday only to discover over the weekend they hadn't properly reattached the engine cover. Returned Monday with half the cover dragging the pavement and the mechanic had the nerve to ask what I hit. Regardless, I was told they'd find a replacement cover and to expect a call the next day. That was two weeks ago. No call. Also, when you manage an auto shop, "I'll be honest with you," isn't a crutch phrase you should lean on. I'm left feeling they weren't. read more

I got my quote from Glass Cars quickly. When I brought in my car at 8 am they were a little late to get in, but they were extremely friendly and helpful. They called me to let me know when the parts were coming in, and they hit a snag when my doors couldn't close (something they didn't expect) and they called and let me know it would be later, which did not bother me. It would have been done in two days, which I asked other collision companies and they estimated weeks for repair. It ended up being 4 with the purchasing of the additional part. Everything in my original review stands - they are SUPER HONEST. My partner got his oil change/checkup at one of those generic chains. They told him his brake pads were dangerously worn out, which was surprising because nothing had been acting up. I told him to just come home, and we'll take his car to Glass Cars for a second opinion. Glass Cars checked it out, took it for a spin, and called back 20 minutes later saying the brakes were fine and the brake pads were only 20% worn down which is, like, more than okay. They didn't even charge us since they didn't do anything, but I paid them something like $20 anyway for their honesty and help, which is probably a tiny fraction of what that other place would have charged if we'd gotten service there. This place is Super Honest. They're a little more expensive for the work they do, but at least you know they're only doing the work that needs to be done and not just throwing in random stuff to rip you off. read more
