Popped in to order a pizza on a busy day. The place was poppin with people picking ip their orders. I ordered a large pepperoni & mushroom pizza and it was ready in 20 mins. Employees were nice. 3 tanles or soninside to eat and a few outside as well. The pizza was delicious. My uncle, pepere, and myself really enjoyed the chewy crust and the big portion of toppings. I've ordered take out from here several times and the food is always fantastic. The pizzas are always cooked to perfection and not soggy, the crust is delicious - even my picky 5 year old loves it! The calzones are also very good. Everyone who works there is super friendly and my orders are always correct. The food is also reasonably priced, which is nice. Entry #7 on the Let's Get Take-Out on the Way Home from Work on Friday I ventured toward the northeast on my way home this time and stopped at the local village pizza joint. The menu above the serving area boasted all kinds of pizza, subs, and sides. I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the employees were masked, although half of them had their noses exposed above their masks, but in these late days of Covid dismissal, I was pretty thrilled that they wore masks at all. Also, there were no fewer than 8 employees hard at work. I thought for sure that this would result in fast service. I am pretty sick of pizza, so I opted for one of my favorite things, a Chicken Gyro! I also added a side of fries to my order. The staff was friendly and efficient. And the price was right. I sat on a bench in the waiting area and waited for my food. This place must have great pizza! While I waited, dozens of pizzas were boxed up and carried away by customers who had called in their orders. All walks of life, from pajama-wearing gals with dirty-faced toddlers who they took by the hand to a well-coiffed woman who emerged from a silver sportscar. This was clearly the place to get pizza on a Friday night! Twenty minutes passed as I watched pizza after pizza go out the door. This seemed like a long time to wait for a sandwich and fries, but I was prepared to cut some slack, since the place was so busy with pizza orders. Finally, after a very long wait, my order was ready. My food smelled delicious as I drove home. I could hardly wait to tear into the bag of fries! When I got home, I opened my bag and took a few photos for my review. I snagged some fries because I simply could not wait. As I expected, they were flavorful, crispy, and perfect. They gyro, however, left a lot to be desired. As with most gyros, it was served on a pita bread. There was nothing wrong with that. The pita was warm, soft and fresh. But the fillings failed to impress. For starters, the pita was stuffed with an excessive amount of shredded lettuce that spilled out of the sandwich. The lettuce was studded with a few bits of diced tomato, but the vegetable part of the gyro was flavorless and lackluster and just lacking anything that resembled a fresh vegetable. Two whole (not diced or pulled or sliced off a skewer) chicken tenders were buried beneath all the lettuce. Sadly, the two chicken tenders had not been trimmed of their gristle. My first bite chewed down on that little tendon that all chicken tenders have if you don't trim them when you prepare the food. This was gross. Perhaps the worst thing of all was that the sandwich was oozing with a half cup or more of mayonnaise. It was absolutely disgusting. Any place where I have ever had a gyro, from the Greek Islands to a London food cart, to any sub shop or pizza place in New England, has served tzatziki sauce on their gyros. I love tzatziki sauce with diced cucumber, garlic, and dill. It is so yummy. But this gyro's offensive mayonnaise soaked through the pita and tainted every part of the sandwich. The whole thing my stomach turn. I bet Alton Village Pizza makes a great pizza, as evidenced by the numerous customers who happily left with their pizza orders while I waited for my sandwich. And the fries and friendly staff were great! But I would not recommend trying a gyro here under any circumstances. read more

Food is average, but the service is awful. Have an issue every time we go there. If you do order from them, do not use their online ordering system. We have completed online orders only to arrive and find out they weren't notified. I did talk to the owner and he said the financial investment it would take to fix the system isn't worth it as a result of the low percentage of customers who use it. Convenient location for those driving through the Alton area which is why we had given them multiple tries. read more

I've never had anything on the menu that I didn't like and since they've recently upgraded their Pizza ovens their pizza is impeccable they also have outdoor seating and a separate dining area recently remodeled. We used to love this place. Service has gone downhill, and orders are not 100% correct. 2 days ago we ordered 2 salads and pizza. Pizza was good, but both salads had at least a quarter to half cup of water in the bottom. We had to absorb it with paper towels. I actually didnt eat much of mine. Super friendly staff! Awesome and fantastic subs! If you're going to do some hiking in the foothills around Lake Winnepesaukee, and wanna throw a sub in your backpack; stop here! I had an Italian sub that was absolute fantastic, and huge! I was only able to finish half of it at the top (Mt Straightback!). and we were plenty hungry! My brother had a tuna salad sub, said it was great, and only again only able to finish half. I was just passing through for a local hike, and wish I could stay to try their pizza too. Ordered subs from here. After calling in my order and the gentleman repeating it back to me twice, it was still wrong. They were not ready when we arrived which was fine. We didn't mind waiting. The girl at the register was rude. When she handed us our bag I asked if the side of hots were in there to which she said "yes". Drove the 10 minutes home to find there were no hots and the sub rolls were soggy from the vegetable juice which was also leaking through the wraps and the bag. After spending over $40 it was extremely disappointing. We have had and enjoyed the subs and pizza from here many times over the last 20 years. Sadly it seems to have gone downhill. So I FINALLY was able to get a take out order (again no delivery) for Alton Village Pizza. My one star review stands. The food was not even "eh ok" at best. It was soggy, under cooked, and you can tell they use cheap older ingredients instead of opting for the freshest to endure great quality and taste. I ordered some chicken wings and a pizza. The wings were good side, but I didn't know that chicken wings are suppose to be soggy, have the consistency of mashed potatoes that are breaded then molded around the chicken bone. Plus they used the sauce more like a broth. My wings literally were in a ton that was filled with the sauce. So the wings were more like a soup. The pizza was just gross. The dough was undercooked. Pizza sauce had no flavor and the cheese was oily cheap and gross. When I got home to eat I ate 3 wings and a slice of pizza. That's all I could stomach. Then went to the kitchen and made dinner for myself. Their food was that bad. I figured the next day I'd give them another shot. I put the wings in my over to try to see if I can bake them a little more as well as the pizza. NOPE still looked inedible and was just disgusting to eat. My recommendation is to go 20-30min south to Rochester or maybe up towards Ossipee for pizza if your looking. Alton Village Pizza gets no stars. Sorry I forget to take s pic to show. Maybe that will give them another opportunity with me. God I hope not. I'd say go here out of necessity, but they are never open do not deliver and honestly, Rochester is not that bad of a ride and I think you'll see some more reviews coming from that direction from me. read more

I'm going to take it easy on this review as I'm from NJ/NY and have a super high standard. That being said, we ordered: pizza, mozz sticks (got chicken nuggets), onion rings, calzone, broccoli and cheese bites, antipasto salad and wings. The pizza was comparable to dominos for myself but my father in law ate it and said it was fine. Calzone was a rolled up piece of pizza with no ricotta and filled to brim with sauce (sauce does not belong inside you dip it in sauce, period....wings were so soggy and gross we took one bite and they went to the trash. The mozz sticks we never received we got nuggets I guess in their place and I didn't eat them my kids did so no complaints from them. The broccoli bites and antipasto were good but I mean you can't really mess up pulling something from a freezer or a salad. Their service was quick for pick up and it was an ideal spot for ordering to the lake house and not having to drag the kids out. But seriously it kinda sucked...a little bit of crisp to the wings and I probably would of been satisfied but I ended up not eating anything but a little bit of salad. Update: my mother in law ordered our lunch (3 Italian hero's) took 25 minutes and definitely did every single sandwich wrong along with it just not being an Italian sandwich.... If I wasn't already a fan of the pizza, today I'd have to give them the benefit of the doubt. At 545pm I called for an order for pickup. Ring. Ring. Ring. Busy Signal. Hang up. Tried twice more. Same dilemma. All I can say is even if the workload is hectic, at least pick up and say so. I'm going for my fourth and final attempt and then I'm going elsewhere. I don't like being steered away by poor phone service. I'm hungry! This note and today's rating is strictly for today's attempt. I will continue my support when someone actually takes my call. Recently ordered a plain cheese pizza and there was so much sauce and cheese it made the crust floppy and soggy. Everything just slid right off. Seemed undercooked. They offer a free item if they screw up but it's not worth waiting for a new pizza. High staff turnover too. Seems like new people constantly. My warning....If you find you have a craving for a Pizza or a sub and you find yourself googling for a local establishment. Proceed with CAUTION!! I recently googled Alton Village pizza 132 Main St, Alton NH 03809, being my Local ( mom and pop ) place. Thinking it's better to support small business than big chains. I pulled up the menu, made my choices and made the call to place my order. When I went to pick up the order I noticed the bill was nowhere near what I was expecting. I questioned the girl at the register and she brought over the manager. I showed the prices from the menu I had on my phone. He told me that wasn't their site. I showed him it said his business name, address, hours, phone number ect and that it was updated within the week. The manager said he only updated the hours they are open. Why would he only update the hours and not the prices????? Maybe to lure you in with false prices only to hit you with the big bill once your there and the food is in your hands. Don't try to inquire or work anything out. The manager more or less said too bad. If he cared at all HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST APOLOGIZED. He is obviously not looking for repeat business. Food is subpar, but there's nothing else around. A bunch of children "working", but mostly standing around cracking jokes and throwing food at one another. One of the employees threw a sub roll at another employee. It bounced off his arm and landed on the counter. Two minutes later they get a call for a steak sub, and they used the roll that an employee threw at another! Saw the youngster running the deep fryers eating French fries behind the serving line. That's a big no no when it comes to food service. I understand that they are all younger, but someone should actually be supervising. I paid $100.00 for take out and this is the service my wife and I received. I hope management can step up and change the unprofessional behavior and poor food handling. I stopped in at Village Pizza in Alton for takeout very recently after hearing good things about this place from one of my bosses who lives in Alton. Village Pizza is casual streetfront pizza shop which is an order at the counter place with self serve table seating inside. They serve up Greek style pizzas, calzones, pasta dinners (with salad & bread), wraps, grilled subs, salads, burgers, wings, fried appetizers, bagged chips, baklava, and Coke products. The prices here seem reasonable, pizza ($5.50 (sm cheese)-$17.45 (lg Village Special)), pasta dinners ($7.65-$10.15), and grilled subs ($5.45-$7.35). I ordered a Small Eggplant Pizza ($6.65 plus tax), which was boxed and ready to go in about 15 minutes. The pizza was quite good, which had thin crust (nice and crisp on the outside, soft inside), topped with plenty of zesty tomato sauce, cheese, and crisp thin breaded eggplant slices. The pizza was very tasty and not greasy. I would definitely order again from Village Pizza! read more
