Wife and I were in Laconia for Bike Week and we were looking for a nicer establishment away from the chaos of the rally. We called in advance to make sure we wouldn't be too under dressed and was assured that jeans and tasteful T-shirts would be fine. We started off with an appetizer of fried mozzarella along with the Alfredo sauce for dipping with the bread. This was some of the best Alfredo that we have had. You could also tell that the fried mozzarella was not frozen and made in house. The wife got their lasagna and I ordered the Northender (chicken parm, Italian sausage, and housemade meatball). My wife and I traveled to Laconia in order to visit a CVS. While in the area we needed to stop for a late lunch so after consulting Yelp, this was the spot we chose. Actually, a very beautiful restaurant! Very well kept and clean! The bathrooms were clean as well! Thank you! Our server, Megan, was the bartender and had what seemed to be the entire second floor during our visit. We stopped in between regular meal hours and wanted a place where we could enjoy the view. I must say she did a terrific job keeping up with the bar, tables in the lounge, a table on the patio, and our table! Thank you, Megan! We ordered a round of adult beverages to start as well as their beef carpaccio. My wife ordered a peach blossom and I their signature Manhattan. My drink was very good! My wife enjoyed her peach blossom as well. Our beef carpaccio arrived and was a little different from what we're used to. We've never had beef carpaccio with a huge dollop sweet relish and ricotta cheese so we brushed those aside. I will say the carpaccio was delicious, we really do enjoy that dish! For our main courses, my wife ordered their beef lasagna while I ordered their chopped Mediterranean salad, adding blackened salmon. I almost laughed out loud when I saw the size of my wife's lasagna! Absolutely huge! I must say it had one of the best Bolognese sauces I've ever had! You could taste the sausage and other meats without issue! Delicious! My salad was superb as well and the salmon cooked perfectly! My wife made a small dent in that huge lasagna while I did finish the salad and salmon. Foolishly we ordered dessert. Mud pie. Although it was extremely delicious, it was so darn big! It could've been dessert for four! We probably will not get back to this restaurant as it's an hour drive from where we are currently staying, however, if we're in the area, we know where we'll be stopping! read more

The hubs and I were on an epic motorcycle journey that landed us in Laconia Bike Week. Hungry for some Italian, we rode over to Fratello's, and I'm SO GLAD we did!! Never mind the amazing and open ambiance with seating indoors and out, the food was OUTSTANDING!! I had the lasagna, which was phenomenal, and the hubs had the "Northernder" which was chicken parm, Italian sausage, and a meatball over penne with a homemade sauce, and his 6 ft tall self could NOT finish it as the portions are huge! I had a fantastic lunch in here. Is this meeting with a work pier. Very comfortable warm environment. I did my usual chicken Parm with homemade noodles and a side salad. It was very good and the portions were large. Even the homemade bread with different butters or oils to dip in to hold us over was fantastic. Waiter was attentive and engaging. There are now 2 Fratello's locations, the original in Laconia, NH which was where I ate tonight. We were a party of six with split checks. Everyone was satisfied with what they ordered. I selected the Northender. It consisted of homemade meatball, sweet italian sausage and breaded chicken breast baked on a bed of penne pasta with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella. So very good.Very large portion. Fratello's Primavera was my wife's choice. It's Sundried tomatoes, artichoke, kalamata olives, asparagus tips, garlic, parmesan, olive oil, tossed with angel hair. And we shared a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. The other couples had mixed drinks which were good , except one had to have Vermouth added to bring it up to snuff. The bartender actually showed up to make sure it was as anticipated and the added Vermouth did make the drink right. I can't remember what the drink name was but the follow up was caring Service was good outside of the small drink issue. The piano playing in the middle of the floor was distracting as we were sitting directly in front by the staircase. But the piano music was good but I was distracted as if I were watching TV. ( My wife told me that) So I think this place is a keeper. Oh and we were all from NY & NJ so Italian food in New Hampshire met our expectations so enjoy your visit to this nice restaurant read more

We should have made a reservation - not sure if that's possible to do in the summer - as we couldn't tell from the website. However, this is a very popular place, so it's hard to walk up and get seated quickly. We did wait - they have a nice little area outside with Adirondack chairs and live music. They rely on very young people to wait on tables and run the check-in. They are all lovely people, but I think having so many young people results in no one really knowing what they're doing. The bathroom situation is also strange. They have 1 stall downstairs and 1 upstairs for such a hopping place. That's very inconvenient. We were eventually seated. It was weird we had to wait so long because we could see that both inside and outside there were tons of empty tables, but we were all still waiting. The young man who took care of us was kind and helpful. We let him know that we had to get in and out in like 45 minutes, and he made it happen. The food was really good -- we shared the antipasto plate and the meatballs - had a couple drinks. The food being so good made up for the really slow seating time. . . and I imagine that if you're on vacation, you don't mind waiting so long. read more

Mother's day dinner was excellent! The fresh garden salad with chunky blue cheese, the Ribeye special was cooked perfectly! I topped it off with a slice of cheese cake topped with raspberry sauce plated with some cream and slices of strawberries and some blueberries. It was so pretty I took a picture of it. read more

We went on a Sunday for early dinner. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. Our server - Destiny - was attentive without being overbearing. The side salad was good sized and fresh. We were visiting Laconia and saw this restaurant recommended in yelp. After checking with a local that it was good, we decided to go there for dinner. We were absolutely delighted with it. The restaurant is in an old bank, and we were seated in our own private nook, called the vault, which actually was a vault. Service was excellent. The food was great and plentiful, and the piano player played romantic tunes as we ate, which was great since it wasn't far from Valentine's Day. The drinks were good, and the prices were what you would expect in any city. I do recommend this place highly. read more

I am being generous in giving Fratello's three stars. The live piano player is the only reason it's not getting 1 star. The wait was ridiculous. Even when we were seated we openly discussed going home and eating left overs. The bread comes with three unidentified items to dip or as I later found out, spread. The olive oil and garlic oil was tasteless. How you may ask. You tell me. The butter did not look or taste like butter. I thought it was something to dip in and put too much on my bread. I spit it out it did not taste like butter. The cheese would've been excellent. If it came with crackers, it's the old fashion, soft cheddar cheese spread, which was about the tastiest thing all night. I have not been in Fratellos in 10 years. Apparently because my name ends in a vowel, business lunches always occurred here - and I would end up not finishing my lunch. Tonight I threw down for the simple marinara, meatball and a sausage combo. The marinara had absolutely no flavor. I had the way to put spun grated cheese on it. In hopes of improving the taste. In fact, the cheese tasted terrible not like Parmesan. The meatball was edible. The sausage was undercooked and I just left it. I also left half my plate actually 7/10 of my plate of pasta. I just could not bring myself to eat it. Fratellos is an Italian restaurant for nine Italians, all those who do not appreciate ethnic Italian cooking. I'm sure there was some garlic and seasonings somewhere but I did not taste it. It's bland and perfect for those who to eat Italian, but do not want to taste all of the flavors Italian food offers. read more

what a wonderful experience I had ar fratellos after a long day on the lake we stopped in for what we thought were appetizers only but we enjoyed them so much. We stayed for a full dinner. We had calamari to start and then chicken Parmesan linguine with clams for dinner my wife and I had a wonderful evening and the server was a little knowledge and why it's four stars instead of five but overall a sound experience and we will definitely be back with our own bottle next time. read more

This was our experience from a meal we had last year, finally getting around to sharing- this was a legendary fail. We made a reservation for 8 adults and 3 kid. We called to move the reservation back an hour and they accommodated us. We arrived and had to wait 25 minutes for our table. Once we were seated at 7:10 PM our waiter promptly served us bread and water. From there, it went downhill. 1) Why did it take forever to get our meals? We ordered a roundrinks, three appetizers, and three kids meals at around 7:30, we did not receive the appetizers until around 8:30. They came in plastic to go containers and I'm still unclear as to why. Shortly after the app order was placed - we placed our remaining 8 entrees. They finally came at 9PM. This was after our kids had melted down. It should never take almost 2 hours to get an entree at an Italian restaurant where most of the order was pre-cooked pasta. 2 hours? 3) The Staff is Oblivious. The manager never came over to check on us despite being one of the last tables left in the main dining room. Other tables who sat after us were served meals before us. We shared our discontent with the waiter. Had the manager came over to check on us when she saw the children getting antsy... and we told the waiter it had been too long... she could have managed our expectations, offered to comp the apps, told us she would try to get our meals out- literally acknowledge the situation- and they would have been able to salvage the experience. 4) Poorly Trained People. An hour and a half into it our kids were going crazy. We took them over to the dessert case to look at the pre portion sliced cakes- we asked the manager in the moment to give us a cake slice and add it to our bill so we could occupy the kids at the table. She then asked who our server was and walked away. Then the server came over and said "what do you want" we shared "a piece of cheesecake". Finally another person came over and took a cake out of the case and left it on the counter- we grabbed it and brought it to the kids. Mind-bowing - the level of service- why could the manager not just grab a cake and give it to us in the moment? Why did it take 3 people to grab a pre sliced pre packaged cheesecake slice? 4) Take Out. We watched 20+ take out orders go out the door- prioritize the people who are actually sitting in the dining room. The kitchen was staffed well, they we're getting for out but it was being packed to go. If you can do both - don't. Don't take orders you can't fulfill in a timely fashion. Instead of taking more take out orders turn tables faster in the dining room. When it all comes down to it- this place is lazy. The staff was lazy, the manager was lazy, no one was happy to be there.The manager Sheila could care less about the people dining in her restaurant tonight. For a table who sat at 7:10 PM to receive entrees at 9PM is unacceptable. Acknowledge the problem and offer a resolution. If you don't want people to eat at your establishment then just close up shop. This place needs new management. Had the manager been proactive. Had Sheila done her job, or done anything at all- Fratellos would not have had to comp a $400 meal tonight. read more

For Italian food this was subpar, but the overall experience was worth it. You're in the middle of New Hampshire, so don't expect anything authentic. But for the great service, friendly waitress, and decent portions for the price, I would go again. I went on a Saturday night with live piano music which was amazing. The pianist was uber talented, but also very friendly. The restaurant was well done and very lovely at night. I will say, dessert was GREAT! We had a reservation at 7:30 up the street for 11 that was a nightmare. (Lost reservation, showed confirmation, told us it would be 45+ to seat us.) So I called Fratello's, spoke to a very helpful person at the front desk, asked if there was any chance of accommodating a party of 11, they asked how far away we were, I told them less than 5 minutes. She said head down and they would get us in. Upon arrival, they had a table ready to go for us. The service from all the staff was A+. The food for everyone adults to kids, apps to seafood food, to traditional Italian to pizza to kids meals were all great. A great experience at very reasonable prices for quality food. This place did not disappoint. We came in on a Friday night with our large family of 12 for a bit of a celebration, and despite not taking reservations, they got us right in. We got walked upstairs to a room with a beautiful view all while getting to enjoy live piano by a wonderful young man. We had drinks quickly, a round of amazing appetizers (loved the arancini), and one of the best sauces I've ever had (Rosa Diavlo). I think boy wished I had more room to enjoy their desserts. If I could give it a 0 star review unfortunately I would. The setting of the restaurant was beautiful, but our food took about an hour after we ordered which wasn't the problem with our experience. Our server David was informed of my Lactose Intolerance Allergy prior to ordering, then served me the garlic bread on the appetizer menu with asiago cheese on the bread. He never mentioned the cheese on the bread. My Mom ordered the short ribs and I ordered the house made pasta and my moms ribs where ice cold and the sauce felt cheap. My pasta was a sticky ball of nothing I could enjoy. I LOVE house made pasta and it was repulsive and disgusting. The marinara sauce however was delicious I admit. Our server didn't bat an eyelash when we didn't touch our food after an hour and take no boxes. He didn't fill up our soft drinks, it was over all a horrible experience.
