She suggested adding cups and was detail-oriented to steam the dress before hemming it. Sinai at the 89th st location at Union square was wonderful. I came in hoping to get a bridesmaid dress tailored in a rush order. When I came to my appointment, he looked at the dress, tied it a different way and in the end told me I actually didn't need to get it altered after all. I thought this was very thoughtful and considerate of him and the team to not try to sell me more than I needed. And the dress the way he tied it was really beautiful. As for their office, they were one of the few in Brooklyn/ nyc to answer the phone in the evening and charge a reasonable amount for a rush order (which in the end I didn't need). I got two of my bridesmaid dresses altered by Sinai. One of them needed a lot of work. Even though its size was extra small, chest and waist part were too loose on me. Sinai immediately pinned the parts of the side, shoulder, and back to show how nicely the dress can fit me so that I'd feel both comfortable and confident. I initially wanted to get only the length done and was surprised by the price tag of alteration for the side, shoulder, back, and length, but I tried on the altered dress and very glad that I got it altered by Sinai. I went to Alteration Specialists to have a dress altered - a few simple changes. The dress was done a few days early, and the team was flexible with my schedule change in coming to pick it up. When I came back to try the dress on again, I noticed that there was still a couple minor tweaks that needed to be made. While I saw all the raving excellent reviews for this place, I wasn't impressed by the quality they fixed my jeans and for the price I had paid for it definitely warranted such a poor experience. I used to goto a mom and pop's tailor (in SF Bay Area) who did an excellent job for only $15 per pants and I would get them back in a few days and the place had maybe 3 tailors. While Alteration Specialists has a full staff, charges $60 per pants and turn around time is 2 weeks. The quality was worse than service at mom and pop tailors. Also the attitude here was rushed and they didn't listen at all since I been getting my pants fixed for years I always point out parts that have to be enforced and it works. The job they did was beyond average, and the quality was well lets just say I just went to another local mom and pop's tailor in the city and they fixed it for $10 and actually listened to me. It would of been cheaper and quicker to ship the pants to/from SF than goto them. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone at all... unless you like throwing money away. read more

Will never go back. I booked an appointment a month ago after calling this location in Union Square. I inquired about a wedding dress, they told me to book 2 months before the wedding so I won't be charged rent. I just went in for my first fitting only to be told upon arrival they "don't do bridal here." I wish they had just cancelled my appointment a month ago when I booked it when I clearly stated "wedding dress." Then, they ask me to try on my dress anyways to see if it would work. I try it on, have to wait for the manager to come and pin it up, and get a bill that was over half the cost of the dress and $400 more than another tailor. Not including add on charges they told me would be applied later. They were incredibly unfriendly during the whole appointment, as if it was inconvenient for me to be there. I would pay more for better service alone. On top of all of this, the place is FILTHY. I was so upset leaving because the bottom of my dress is now gross and brown with dirt/I had to pick out all of the thread and hair. I am hoping the next place will help me get the dress cleaned on top of all of this. Highly recommend you do NOT come here with a long dress, or at all. Super unprofessional, stay away! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CLOTHES HERE. They absolutely botched a jacket I paid $400 to fit. When I came in for a follow up to fix which is their supposed courtesy they told me I must not have noticed the problem when I first came in. Blame the customer - truly A+ service. Then they realized they mixed up receipts for each jacket and so weren't sure what they did to mine. Absolutely unacceptable. Regardless weren't willing to fix. And their specialist Ben Sidden has major attitude. Avoid. I am calling my credit card company to cancel payment. read more
