A solid choice and one of the better burgers I've ever had. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about celiac (which may not seem like a big deal unless you're celiac). It's mostly a takeout place, but they do have a small dining area. My wife, who is celiac, was able to get a burger on a gluten-free bun with a side of fries and had no issues. I'm a regular here along with my buddies at work. I've been coming here for lunch about 4 years now and the food has always been excellent. My favorites are the Valedvictorian, Wild Ocean Wrap, grilled steak salad, and their french fries. More specifically, the Honey Jalapeno sauce they include with their fries is amazing. It goes so well with all of their food. A little funny that sauce is their most standout item. I've tried most items from their menu over the years (everything ranging from salads, burgers, wraps, cheesesteaks) and nothing has disappointed so far. It's a casual food joint, so it's a good spot to come in for a quick bite. They also get bonus points for having online ordering (through Grub Hub) and delivery. I would recommend coming here if you are in the mood for a sandwich (and of course fries!), everything they have is great and I have no complaints whatsoever. read more

This quaint little sandwich shop was fairly decent. We were disappointed in the wait time For only 2 sandwiches and one order of fries, we waited at least 35 minutes. I had the class president, which was absolutely amazing. I'm pleased to say they did not skimp on the crab meat, and there were lots of flavors that melded perfectly together that I didn't expect to. My boyfriend had the cheddar bbq burger. It was pretty overcooked, which was disappointing, and there wasn't enough bbq sauce at all. I wouldn't recommend a burger, especially considering they upped the price 10% amidst the covid situation to account for the increase in ground beef prices. The sweet potato fries were a bit disappointing. We didn't really taste sweet potato because they were overfried. The honey jalapeno sauce they served it with was pretty good though. They did serve a fair amount for the price, which was nice. Overall, I think this place is worth checking out, and I would suggest giving it a shot. read more

Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak and the Jekyll and Hyde Cheesesteak. The buffalo chicken was not breaded and fried, which came as a disappointment. The chicken came out unpleasantly slimy on the exterior due to the reaction between the acidic buffalo sauce (Franks?) and the chicken breast skin. The cheese sauce was placed at the crease of the sandwich, which left it too hidden to enjoy in a balanced chew. The bread also slightly dominated the mouth experience. I felt as if I had to "get past" the bread to experience the sandwich. The Jekyl was good. Chicken and steak mingle together in a dense gooey suspension of savoury mayo/cheese sauce. The flavor profile leaned heavily to the savoury end of the fat/acid spectrum. The soft textures of the meat and oozy sauce were pleasant seasoned. This sandwich felt basic. It's just a sloppy goop of homogenous meat paste on a decent roll. It needs something else to make it a balanced experience. The garlic parm potato wedges were excellent. The parmesan serving was generous. The wedges were well-executed, deeply crispy and oily with a delicate saltiness. The garlic flavor and ranch added complexity (and probably MSG). Alumni grill has good traditional American diner options. Their meat execution deserves improvement. Also, their sandwich bread:fillings dominance ration ought to be examined. But, overall, I was happy with my meal. BONUS SEO TIP for the owners: Change the name of the Jekyll and Hyde. Folks on Yelp are misspelling "Jekyll" and it's making for suboptimal tagging on Yelp and, consequently, Google. read more

7 of us ordered from here. EVERY SINGLE one of us said it was horrible. One thing that made me come here to review was the portion sizes of everything. Smallest sandwiches I ever had down here. Fries were so bland and under cooked. My burger was over cooked. Prices were too high for this hospital cafeteria food. They should have stuck with the Dodge balls. My daughter and I grabbed lunch for take out this past Monday and we ordered a Valedictorian Wrap and a order of fried pickles to split. The wrap was a very large portion, stuffed with juicy, moist and flavorful grilled chicken along with lots of fresh vegetables and the always delicious Honey Jalapeno sauce. The fried pickles were great and nicely battered and deep fried even if the fried batter didn't want to stick to the pickle spear. We came expecting to have a bunch of apps and a few beers then head back to the boardwalk. So Ill take that as my mistake there is no alcohol served here. Crab cake burger was great, cheesesteak was a little to be desired, dodge balls were delicious, loaded fries were beyond greasy (yes I know french fries in oil) but its like they didn't drain them very well if that makes sense. We called the restaurant and they were apologetic and said the sandwich would be right over. 30 minutes later a guy ran up with a bag and said here you go. We brought the bag inside, and it was a bag full of condiments and napkins. No sandwich. We called the restaurant and were obviously annoyed at this point. We again were told "oh okay we'll send it over." How do you deliver an already messed up order and not make sure there's actually the sandwich in the bag? We said that at this point this is unacceptable and we expect some sort of apology more than the sandwich being delivered considering everyone had eaten their sandwiches now and I had nothing. The guy on the phone audibly laughed and just said "k." And hung up. Didn't try at all to offer anything to keep us as customers. They weren't even apologetic, they clearly found the mistake funny. All of the appetizers look bomb and we had a tough time deciding! The good: the delivery time on a Sunday afternoon may have been quicker than advertised, and the French fries were good. We also liked the gluten free options The bad: I got a Jekyll and Hyde cheesesteak (1/2 beef 1/2 chicken) I thought the one half would be all beef and the other half all chicken, instead the chicken and beef were mixed together. It may have been good but the chicken seemed like it was from a can, it had the consistency of tuna fish. The wiz for the fries was not that good. My kids got a burger and wife got a chicken sandwich, both so so. I think they use cheap ingredients and it shows in the quality of their food. I asked what was vegan, and I'm here to report back. Per the very friendly and helpful staff, the "mathlete" without cheese is vegan. That's the black bean burger as a panini, i.e., on a ciabatta roll. I think that means that the veggie burger is not vegan, and the bun definitely does not look vegan (looks like a brioche bun). read more

Stopped into Alumni the past 2 years during our Wildwood stay. I remember last year ordering the Black & Tan Burger which was crusted in bacon and topped with frizzled onions. This year I went with the Chicken Cheesesteak which was basically a Chickensteak with a "Nacho/BBQ" sauce. It was definitely a nice sized 'wich and very flavorful, though I wish the bread wasn't super chewy like it was. I also felt like the sandwich lacked another added ingredient whether it be fried onions & peppers or something. All in all my daughter and I really like Alumni, though after discovering Augie's Burgers a block over we seemed to be more partial to their burgers and fries. The coolest part of our stop in Alumni this year was discovering their RockBot app which basically allowed you to play a few songs of your choosing after checking in.
