What I got was a life-changing spiritual experience thanks to my server, Dani From the moment she arrived at the table, it was clear we were in the presence of greatness. If customer service were an Olympic sport, she'd have more gold medals than Michael Phelps and a statue erected outside the restaurant by Tuesday. The food was excellent, but honestly she could have served me a grilled flip-flop and I would've complimented the chef because her enthusiasm was that contagious. At one point I'm pretty sure she solved three international conflicts between taking orders and running food. Would eat here again. Would trust her with my taxes. The food here is always top notch, and never too pricey. No matter where you sit, it always a fun place to be for a good night out. The BBQ mac and cheese is always perfect. My Sever James was a complete delight, and was super helpful to our table, and always checked in with us constantly, and was great with refills. There was a rude costumer near us in his section, that he could not have handled better, and he kept a perfect attitude and speed throughout the night. We ended up at MudHen because the restaurant we were trying to get into was closed for the season but never put it on their website and what a blessing that was! We sat upstairs and the whole feel of the place was just welcoming and hospitable- felt like a community gathering spot. Danielle was our server and she was knowledgeable, made great recommendations, was fast and just overall amazing. Btw- she was 100% spot on about the banana pudding martini- absolutely delish! Parking is great ! The place is huge with indoor and outdoor seating. We chose inside as it was windy. It is loud in there, which is perfect if you have kiddos. Waitresses were very nice and attentive. They did explain they have two kitchens, so food comes out as it is ready, not all at once. Which is fine. Appetizer was pork belly ! Been going here since it opened, and still a solid 4 stars because it offers what no other place in wildwood does: multiple bars in a huge space PLUS good food, house made brews and a full bar. It's always been a bit on the pricey side, and those prices have continued to climb over the years. Par for the course in this economy - just make sure you take care of your the staff when you tip - they don't set the prices. On to the food - consistently good. Good beer selection and bar tenders are on point. Cheesesteak was solid. Burgers are bomb. But gotta call them out for a $3 upcharge for onion rings when it literally came with four. Four onion rings puts them at over a dollar each which is WILD. That's gotta be a 1000% markup for the house. Do better. They were good. Better than most. But get real. Definitely check it out. Sooooooo good! We went on Sunday afternoon for an early dinner and was immediately seated. My server was fantastic and I regrettably forget her name! The atmosphere is a total vibe with a live band and outside seating (in shaded area or not) or you can sit inside. The majority of people were outside enjoying the weather. The food was outstanding. I asked how it was made and the waitress said that they use fresh squeezed OJ and house made triple sec. I'm certain that made the difference! It was also made with Kettle One Orange vodka. Against my better judgement, I got a second cocktail, and not the same thing. *so sad* I got a blueberry cosmo. It was fine but it wasn't amazing like the Orange Crush. My husband got a steak salad. There was legit a WHOLE steak on there! He enjoyed it a lot. I had a couple of bites and agree it was really good. I got the pulled pork sandwich, that was also tasty. Went to MudHen on a busy Saturday night and got lucky finding a parking spot in their second lot. They don't take reservations, but fortunately the place is huge. We were shown to a table upstairs which, for the two of us, was a lot more subdued than the downstairs area. We also had a good view of the football game on their many TVs, and there is a small, quiet bar upstairs. Our server was attentive and friendly. We started with cocktails, a beet and burrata salad, and 3 mini hot chicken sliders. The beet and burrata salad was good with the pesto, burrata, and balsamic combo being the stars of the show. However, I would have loved a few more beets instead of two bigger pieces. The hot chicken sliders with bbq sauce and pickles were also tasty, but the bread seemed more like a dinner bun than a sandwich roll. Additionally, the chicken pieces were quite small and didn't cover the roll. As an entree, we shared the smoked pulled pork platter with slaw, baked beans, and cornbread. The pulled pork was moist and delicious especially alongside the slightly spicy baked beans and was perfect for sharing. I would recommend MudHen especially if you're looking for a fun place to watch a game. You also don't have to be a beer drinker to enjoy the food and atmosphere. read more

Large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating areas. Love the ambiance - very industrial looking. This was a former motorcycle dealership. Great selection of beer on tap and drinks. Has your typical American fare like burgers, wings, bbq and kids menu. As a person with Celiac disease however there were a lot of red flags for me. Several items listed on the menu listed as gluten free were clearly not. For example the salad my daughter had came with crostini, a shrimp dish was made with beer and another dish made with soy sauce. Not sure if this is a typo on the menu or maybe they don't understand what gluten free means but they should clean this up. Service was extremely quick with some items coming out a few minutes after being ordered. Everyone's meal was probably served within 10-15 min of ordering. read more

My girlfriend and I were in Wildwood for a night on a Thursday in August. While we drove by that night, we didn't have time to stop in. We still wanted to try it out so we stopped in right at 11am when it opened on Friday morning and sat in the main dining room at the bar. Even though there was barely anyone there, so the atmosphere was kind of dead, we still had a great experience. The bartender was John who was a a great guy, and fellow high school teacher! We also talked with another man whose name I didn't catch - possibly a head brewer or manager - who offered us a sample of two different beers. We also had two flights between us, and everything we tried was excellent. The food was also incredible. My girlfriend had the BBQ meat lover Mac and cheese ($24), and I had the Cuban sandwich ($17). Both were incredibly flavorful and filling. The place is huge but I'm told it fills up and gets very crowded and noisy. But from what we experienced, the food, beer and service were all top notch, and we would definitely come back. read more

I want to give this brewery 5 stars right off the rip because of how kind they were to my dad before we even ordered. He has a tough time getting around later and used a cane. He has a handicapped parking tag also. When he pulled into the parking lot, there was an attendant. All the spots were taken so this man MADE a spot for my dad. He treated my dad with dignity. We get a table and they are benches. The hostess realizes that my dad is going to struggle with this and immediately just puts a heavy duty chair in the end of the table. The server was friendly and kind, especially to my four year old. The place is massive. It was so hot out but everything was covered. It's loud but in a fun way. There are different places to sit based on your preferences. They had a band playing so we opted for outside. It wasn't too loud. The food was delicious. I wish the pretzels came with more beer cheese but that's my only gripe. I'm sure I could have asked for more. MudHen is an incredibly family friendly brewery. We started with a crab and spinach dip and it lacked flavor and the texture was too thick. For my main I got the caprese wedge; I'll be honest, I wish it was just a normal wedge. This place was great! Came in on a Monday night. Place was packed yet we were immediately seated. The joint is HUGE! Not sure how many they can seat, but seems like the largest place in Wildwood. came here with some friends one night, it was a much larger place inside than it looked outside with multiple buildings bars and a nice outdoor place with cornhole and some other games to sit and play while you eat and drink. The outside had lots of seating and was well lit with string lights. everyone there was pretty friendly, we were able to get seated pretty quickly even though it was busy and served quickly. they had a lot of food options there, some finger foods and lots of other things you would imagine that you would find at a bar, like pulled pork mac & cheese, quesadillas, burgers and fries. I ended up getting the pulled pork mac & cheese and it was pretty good. The prices were decent. The beer was cold and some of their brewery beers were pretty good all night. We are locals and eat here a lot because we absolutely love the vibe both indoor and outside. However, the last few visits have been a major disappointment when it comes to the food. My wife ordered the black and blue steak salad which has been great in the past but this time there was more fat than steak and we ordered it medium and the edible parts were actually raw! Three of us got burgers and they were dry and tasteless and the buns tasted like they were frozen and thawed before serving. The wings were ok. Four of us split the mussels, pretzels, ahi tuna, and street corn. I got the chipotle salad and cornbread. Service was Michelin star attentive! Food came out fast! Place is huge. I didn't try the mussels but they disappeared quickly. I loved the ahi tuna and would get it again. Corn was crazy good and the biggest surprise. My salad was good but I specifically said I wanted the salmon grilled and it came out blackened. It was very spicy. Next time I would send it back. The waitress offered to fix it but it was getting too late for me. But didn't have time this trip. I liked the cornbread. French fries are a must order! My niece took the peanut butter dessert to go and this was the only dish I would say to skip. Tasted re-refrigerated/frozen more than once. Another good visit to Mudhen Brewing in Wildwood. We went for dinner the evening before Thanksgiving. It was busy but wasn't too crowded as both Mudhen and The Station House were open (with live music that was good, but too loud) and jumping. They did have specials for both food and beer. My dining companions started out with pork sliders then split a cheesesteak. The spouse also had a cheesesteak. All 3 raved about the sandwiches! I enjoyed an ahi tuna appetizer, then a cup of chili. The portion was generous, the flavor spot on, and it really hit the spot. Service was just as good -- friendly, attentive, and quick without being rushed. The whole experience had a relaxed, welcoming vibe, and it felt like a place that really takes pride in both the food and the way they treat their customers. "And my tires were slashed and I almost crashed, but the Lord had mercy And my machine, she's a dud, out stuck in the mud somewhere in the swamps of Jersey'' (Bruce Springsteen) Where on earth did that name "Mud Hen" come from? Well, we have to go back into local history where we'd learn that in 1883, the West Jersey Railroad carried thirsty passengers from the Cape May Court House to a pub in Wildwood over dilapidated decrepit tracks through marshy wetlands. The tracks washed out so often that the train was nicknamed "the Mudhen". Fast forward to April 2018 when an old Harley Davidson dealership was reborn as the massive Mudhen Brewing Company. The multi-building complex has so many options for you and your group to enjoy a beer and some great food. You can enjoy their 8 to 12 rotating craft beers on tap in their spacious two-story dining room and lounge, outdoor Bar, Biergarten and Patio, and separate structures for private events known as the New Garage Room and Station House. Our party of twenty-one was seated in the New Garage Room. We shared that room with a big group of high school cheerleaders who entertained us with dance routines and cheer practice throughout the evening. I started off the evening with a Mudhen Pilsner (ABV:4.8 %) that was light and very drinkable. Mudhen has over twenty appetizers to kick off your meal. I went with a cup of their Soup of the Day which was Italian Wedding (cup $7). I enjoyed it a lot, it was loaded with meatballs and was piping hot. I counted 24 appetizers on their menu, and I sampled three of them that my table mates ordered. MOM'S PICKLES ($14) "golden-fried, tempura battered pickle spears with Cajun breadcrumbs served with chipotle mayo sauce" were excellent and spicy, the SOUTHERN FRIED OYSTERS - ($12) were served with cherry peppers, blistered cherry tomatoes, spicy ketchup, citrus zest and a pickled veggie tartar, and the BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER BITES ($14.50) were beer battered cauliflower tossed in classic buffalo sauce over iceberg lettuce with a side of bleu cheese dressing. My order of preferences were the cauliflower, pickles, and oysters (which I thought were mushy and not very tasty). My dinner was their Chipotle Salmon Salad ($23) with spring mix, roasted sweet corn, avocado, chopped red onion, fresh strawberry, black beans, queso fresco w/ cilantro vinaigrette dressing & topped w/ chipotle grilled salmon. It was extraordinarily delicious. The salmon was a big portion that was moist, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I loved it. My wife ordered a Hen House Salad ($12) with an added six grilled shrimp ($8). The salad was spring mix, romaine, cucumbers, carrots, red onions, cherry tomatoes & crostini served with a side of balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The shrimp were pretty large, and she enjoyed her dinner. Now, as I said, we had a group of twenty-one, and the cheerleaders must have had 12-15 in their group, and another table full of parents. All of us pretty much ordered their food at the same time. This review would not be complete without offering high praise to the Mudhen kitchen and our server Amber. The food for the 45 or so of us in the New Garage Room came out fast, I mean really fast. And Amber was incredible, with a 1,000-watt personality who cheerfully handled every little question and issue that came up. She was a true professional and was great fun to interact with. Being fair with this review because I didn't love this place as much as everyone else seems to. I love their sister restaurant Dogtooth, so I was surprised. Good: massive space, extremely clean and minimal wait times for a table. The menu is large with something for everyone. Staff is very friendly. Fried pickles are delicious. My son's pulled pork and husband's cheesesteak were huge and everything came out blazing hot. Needs work: our drink order was messed up twice. I ordered a watermelon crush and was given an orange crush, waitress tried again but then served me grapefruit which I am allergic to. I gave up on the bar after that and stuck to water. The crab chowder which I was most excited for had no crab in it. The mahi tacos actually were good but the lime sauce on them I was not a fan of. The bathroom needs to be bigger, 3 stalls for this big of a place is ridiculous. I would maybe be willing to come back but very hesitant about the bar service after my experience. read more

I was blown away by the service, food, beer, and overall atmosphere here. The place had live music on a summer Thursday night and even though it was packed, we got sat right away. Our server Corina was super nice and her service was top notch. Each beer we tried was good and special shoutout to their new brew Fruittie Patutie: I usually don't like beer but this was a beer I would happily drink again. We started with the brussel sprouts appetizer and although it was really good, I wasn't expecting it to be hot and very soupy so I'd avoid getting that in the summer. I had the fish and chips and they were pretty good and had very thick fish in them. My husband had the mahi tacos and he enjoyed those as well. Honestly, we didn't even get the chance to eat there. We had hoped to sit outside--just the two of us--near the music and TV. Instead, they seated us all the way in the back corner of the property, in a separate open building far from the atmosphere we came for. When we asked to be moved, two hostesses told us they couldn't, just in case it got busy. But it was 4:30 in the afternoon--the place was practically empty, as was the parking lot. We would've been gone well before any kind of crowd showed up. They were surprisingly rude about the whole thing. When we asked again, they moved us to an awkward spot right outside the building--between where we were and the brunch place next door. Meanwhile, there were a handful of people sitting exactly where we originally wanted to sit, and at least 20 open tables in that area. More than a dozen servers were just standing around, clearly disorganized. The hostesses huffed at us and said, "Then just eat inside." So instead, we left. They lost our business, and we ended up enjoying a great time at the Surfin Pig by the bay with live music--exactly the vibe we were looking for. read more

I live in Florida, and I'd been trying to get here the last two times I was in town. Third time was a charm! With it being so cold outside, the hot chocolate bar was right on time while we waited for our table to be ready. It could have been served a bit hotter, but still tasted good. I tried one of my brother's southern fried oysters, and it was delicious! I might get an order of my own next time. I ordered the cheese steak, and I was shocked at how flavorful the mushrooms were. Usually I feel mushrooms, but I don't taste them. Not the case here. These mushrooms had an aromatic umami that enriched the flavor. I would add those mushrooms to any number of items from the menu.
