You would think a business owner would be professional enough knowing reviews are what brings people in and not all of them will be good or what he wants to hear. The kids Mac and cheese isn't boxed...it's not a cheap sauce either...very tasty. The fish batter was so flavorful and the Sheppard's pie was also good. The mozzarella sticks were absolutely incredible. The breading was seasoned very well, cheese was creamy and wasn't just a cheese stick. Sauce that came with them was great. I was one of the only people here on a nasty weather Friday in the off-season, but there were a solid 20 people by the time I left. Spoke with the owner, who was just a super nice, down to earth guy. Bartender was attentive and let me try a sample of a beer before ordering it to make sure I was feeling it. Menu had a ton of good stuff, but went with the corned beef and cabbage spring rolls given its an Irish pub. My picture sucks but those spring rolls were awesome. Even the mashed potatoes you could tell were home made. Awesome app. Definitely wanna try more food from here but it was a solo trip and I wasn't starving. We had every intention on going to a well known brewery here in Wildwood- we went, we're treated terribly and had a horrid experience- and as fate would have it, we ended up at cattle n' clover. EVERYTHING was awesome, the bartenders (which I regrettably didn't get their names) were so great- the food and drink selections were wonderful. We will always come to Cattle n' Clover for our annual family trip. There are 14-20 of us at a time, while there were only 4 last night- we usually travel in packs, this business did everything they could to earn our business and encourage us to bring the rest of our family with us!! The atmosphere was calm, and had a great vibe. The fried pickles, "side chick" drink were tasty and well made. And everyone around us seemed like they were having a great time and enjoyed their food. We were on vacay and my parents wanted a nice pot pie (one got Shepards pie , the other chicken pot pie) and they both said it was bland and horrible. Cattle n Clover is a few blocks off the boardwalk and worth the venture out. They have a decent beer selection complete with Cape May and other local brews. They also have pool tables if that's what you are feeling. The kitchen is open late. I got lucky when I needed a late night French Onion Soup. Odd to have as a nightcap, but hit the spot. The bartenders were friendly. While nothing wowed me, this is a solid beach pub. read more

Would not recommend. Service was slow and the food was not very good at all. They served the salad without half the items on it. We had to ask for it. The "house speciality" which should be the best food they offer was horrible. The fish tasted old/very fishy-- which cod normally doesn't taste fishy and the breading if you bit a crunchy piece just oozed tasted of old oil and the breading was soggy. Would not recommend. Good bar food away from the mediocre stuff you will find on the boardwalk. I stayed at a motel nearby with my gf and we were craving some wings and a salad late night. The wings were more like fried chicken but I don't mean that in a bad way, they were unexpectedly good. They were served over mashed potatoes which was an awesome fucking touch but a little gravy would have went a long way. The potatoes got dry towards the end. We really wanted to try the mozz sticks but they were unfortunately out. Salad was good and fresh, added some salmon and they didn't skimp. I ordered the Blue spider, their take on a blue margarita. It was excellent and they didn't cheap out on the tequila. We got food menus and i was pleasantly surprised to see a GF bun option. We ordered our food and we did wait a while for it to come out, but we could tell they are understaffed and we weren't in a hurry. Food was well worth the wait. Probably the best GF bun I've had from a restaurant (THANK YOU FOR THIS OPTION!!) and it wasn't one burger, but two. Cooked perfectly. The fries were addicting - I couldn't stop eating them. So we went in on Sat night. We expected a wait and where happy to have some beers. We looked up steakhouses and yelp said it was good. 21/2 hour wait. We where not allowed to order anything but appetizers at the bar. When we finally got seated they were out, of three of the four steaks the offer. Yes you heard me, out of the filet, The porter house. We both ordered the strip.(it was the only option) It was tough, chewy, gristle in it, both of our steaks where like that. It was a car weekend. A Beerfest weekend and you don't have steaks??? You dont book big rooms of people if you can't handle it. $100 bill plus what we spent at the bar waiting. Came here with some friends while in the area for dinner. The place is set up like a traditional Irish pub, dark woods and shiny brass fill the bar area while live music plays in the background. To start my night off I ordered some mozzarella sticks, which were the biggest of all the mozzarella sticks in the land! I could have had these as a regular meal, by the time I had 2 I was just about full and ready for a nap. For my entree, I read about their Guinness book of world records Sheppard pie so of course I had to try it out. To my delight, it was absolutely the best Sheppard's pie I've ever had! Though not your traditional Sheppard's pie we Americans have a different taste then our oversea brothers and sisters, we don't have the same taste for lamb like they do across the pond. It was more of a pot pie style pie but man it was was delicious. It was so good in fact we went back the next day and I ordered the same thing. I talked to owner a bit and he was really cool and friendly. For my 30th birthday, I planned an overnight stay in Wildwood. I wanted to have a nice dinner, just my significant other and me. My favorite meal is definitely a nice steak. To be fair, the night we were there was in the middle of Restaurant Week, so the menu was different. We were limited to a prix fixe menu, which was fine with me since there was a steak option in the main course. The appetizers and soup/salad were promising, but they proved far superior to the main course. The steak was just not good; the texture and glaze were both unappealing. My boyfriend ordered a sandwich with fried chips. When he tasted one of the chips, he made a sour face. I tried one myself and the flavor was indescribably bad. I don't know how a place could so desecrate a classic bar food. Next time I'm back in Wildwood, I would be willing to try the place again based on the strength of those appetizers though. The chicken wings were definitely unique. I just hope we don't go during another Restaurant Week. read more

I'm upset that I didn't go further into reviews; I though this was a well-established place with good food. Nope. We were in Cape May and decided to venture over to Wildwood for a bit. Because of the country festival, Wildwood was packed and so were many of their restaurants with live music. Because of good reviews, I put this down on my itinerary even though we passed so many great smelling live action packed pubs/restaurants on the way. I called ahead since the website would not let me make a reservation. Hostess said they weren't very busy. Great. Not busy was an understatement- this place was empty. I found that odd considering sooo many people were wandering around (1st bad sign) but I figured what the heck. I asked about live music and they said they had a D.J. The "D.J" came back and forth to his mac to play some outdated music when he wasn't outside. (2nd bad sign) Ok, no prob. The waiter was very nice and friendly and sat us down. I asked what he recommended and he said the burgers and I had to "absolutely" try the shepherd's pie. I though Irish pub, local watering hole, the food must be great and he knows the locals' faves. We ordered both. But as an app, I ordered the Cesars salad- dressing on the side. His response was that the chef "mixed it all together and so it couldn't come on the side." Umm...what? 3rd bad sign. I guess the salad is pre-mixed sitting in some big bowl in fridge I assume. But I wanted a salad and so again, I just shrugged and said fine, that's ok. (I really was trying to enjoy the vibe and not be difficult) I ordered a cocktail which was good, and we waited. We waited only about 10 minutes until the food came out. (pretty quick for a decent shepherds pie- 4th bad sign) and oh man was I disappointed. The potatoes on top were decently flavored, but it was hard to see because it was smothered in brown gravy. Not amazing Jus drippings from the meat, but the Campbell's kind that seemed literally poured from can and poured on top. The steak underneath was just ok. (Steak, not ground beef or lamb) I'm not even sure how this was a "Shepherd's Pie" . I really wanted to like this place, the owner (I think) was circling asking how the food was, We shrugged "good", but I think since he saw how I didn't touch much it was clearly not. About 10 minutes into my dinner my salad finally arrives. Romaine leaves with Italian (not Caesar) dressing and a little cheese with croutons. I'm, still confused why it took twice as long as my food considering it was already mixed. Sigh. My husband said his burger was really good. I agree (i had some of his dinner since mine was not good). It was tasty, juicy and perfectly cooked. It was the one with bacon, I forgot the name. Fries were also cooked very well! Pros: friendly service, good cocktails, great burgers. The bathroom was very clean and there were pool tables in the back for those that wanted additional entertainment. Cons: Most of the food we had was bad, place was empty, DJ was not really doing anything other than playing tired playlist from computer. Food was pricey considering I still left hungry. Over 75 dollars later, I was extremely disappointed:( Skip this one unless you want a quick burger and beer. read more

Today was our 2nd time eating here as we visit Wildwood once a year. The service was fantastic. In fact we had the same waiter as last year. We ordered Mozzerella Sticks as an appetizer. Our meals were Mussels in wine sauce and beef over mac n cheese. My daughter loved her mussels - she got the same thing last year and that's all she wanted. I tasted them and they were delicious. My mac n cheese was a little burnt on the edges making it a little to crispy for my liking BUT still had so much flavor that I didn't even hesitate in finishing the whole meal. This is the first Irish pub I've ever walked into that didn't have a ton of patrons at the bar. Very overpriced. Fried pickles were way too thick to be crispy. Irish nachos were cold and soggy after about 2 minutes. Fried wings and chicken fingers and fries were obviously cooked in old oil that need to be changed. In the men's room there's a light out, toilet paper and other trash on the floor (which was also very sticky) and the faucet wasn't even attached to the sink. Couldn't get out of there fast enough.
