I dropped off my car for an oil change and I wrote down the current mileage. When I picked up the car they had driven my car 12 miles and when I pointed this out I was informed that it's typical practice. They also lied at first at how far they had driven my car. very rude guys in this shop, not the way to approach your customers lol. first off I was told quite rudely to get out of the shop when I didn't even see a obvious sign or anything saying no customers allowed inside shop. I pulled up in a good mood, happy, smile on my face and when they told me that, I went off on them because they could have been nicer about it... there is so many more shops in the city that won't treat you like these guys. ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE, THEY CANNOT COMPLETE MECHANIC WORK ON MINI COOPERS, HAVE BROUGHT MINI COOPER 2009 here so many times and the issues still keep adding one after another. so much money when we need it fixed. thinking about a law suit. read more

Do not come here. Spend the extra money and go elsewhere. I came here for a transmission fluid change and a coolant flush. There were no problems with the car I just wanted to make sure fluids were fresh. Upon receiving my car and driving down the street, it smelled weird; like a maple syrup smell from the engine. I live close to shop so made it home no problem and quick. When I got off I popped the hood, there was coolant or transmission fluid everywhere! And my car was leaking, I couldn't tell from where so was immediately frustrated. Got in the car to drive back, but now it wouldn't start. I took my car to my usual shop who I trust. Paid 130 for full diagnostic. They let me know that I have three fresh holes in the radiator. The car was shutting itself off because of the leak through the radiator. The car was running fine before the trip to Alvarez so there was obviously no holes in the radiator before my visit. He also let me know that my transmission was spewing and bubbling liquid that did not look like coolant. I was also now missing a factory cap that had to be specifically ordered from Nissan. They replaced my radiator (cost me 500). They suggested I go back to Alvarez to have them fix the other problems as they are clearly at fault. I went back to Alvarez, talked to the man at the front desk, explained everything, and he immediately denied all fault. What was strange was he didn't even go to the back to ask any of the mechanics if this was possible. He just kept saying, "no papa, it wasn't us". Had to go back to my trusted mechanic for the remaining problems costing another 190. Turns out, they never even replaced my transmission fluid! It was the same dirty fluid that had always been in there. The fluid should have been brand new blue. And turns out they flushed my coolant, and never filled it back to the level it should be at. The mechanic showed me as he emptied the transmission fluid and he saved the radiator for me to see. My other mechanic was in disbelief with these guys. This trip to Alvarez ended up costing me $690 in repairs. Spend the extra money and go elsewhere. read more

Horrible service! I would have given this place a ZERO but had to give one star to leave a review. These people are a joke and rip off!!! Please take my advice save your time and money. Brought our car here after spending thousands with them left with the same issuse and now have even more problems. I was told what I needed from the dealer and I came here. I was satisfied with their quality work! I've been coming since 2007. Never ever have I ever had an issue with the quality of work her. Very honest and very reliable work. I've had issues where I've taken my car to other places for repair and then my car comes back with issues. Never ever had that ever happened here. They always take care of my car and I have complete trust with the care of my cars here. I recently moved an hr away and I still make arrangements for my vehicles to be repaired by them. I couldn't imagine going elsewhere. Not once have I ever had anything repaired here and then had it not be it or something else fail a month later. I highly highly recommend coming here. read more

This place is horrible. After calling yesterday and being told to bring the car in between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. I made arrangements to get a ride because I was told I would have to leave it. I went there today and dealt with Diego who looked like he was sitting there and answering the phones. If I could give no stars to this dump I would. Diego was such a smart aleck! He actually mimicked me, an elderly white woman, and the way I spoke as soon as I walked in. He snickered at the way that I tripped on his unstable rug and bar stools that blocked the doorway. He refused to accept the car for service, even though yesterday, someone answering the phones told me I could bring it before 1:00 and I did. Diego sent me on a wild goose chase looking around for another shop that he claimed was nearby that was also called Alvarez which I couldn't find. My car is barely drivable! And he knew that! Yet he still sends me out on this wild goose hunt for this other shop which I couldn't find. I don't even think it exists but I could be wrong. So, the point is, I go back to him and actually say " I'm begging you; please let me leave the car to look at tomorrow because it's very hard for me to get rides" especially at 8:00 a.m. . Because at this point he was demanding that it be dropped off exactly at 8:00 a.m. and that was the only way it could be serviced. But the entire time, it was really weird because I could see he's very subtly making fun of me, and the situation saying oh well, over and over and over again no matter what I said. He keeps shrugging his shoulders and saying oh well like he didn't have a care in the world. He even admitted that the phone number associated with their website is wrong and that he needed to update it when I showed him the website and the phone number that I called. I would think that fact alone, that Alvarez can't even keep their website updated, would have caused him to have some feeling of responsibility or mercy. But no. I felt like crying because it's so hard to get rides and the car is too dangerous to drive and yet he just was completely cold, stone-faced, and rude. Anyone considering going there should just know ahead of time that you may be lied to about drop off times, and the people they have doing customer service, as soon as you walk in, are rude and condescending. Would not trust any quote they gave me nor their opinion on what is wrong with my car based on their customer service alone. They come across as untrustworthy. Oh, and make sure you don't trip on their rug and bar stools. Who laughs at an elderly woman that almost falls on the floor because of a bad rug and chairs that block the door? Who does that? I have had four spine surgeries and a knee replacement in the last 3 years. They just don't deserve any business. That type of person and business is untrustworthy in my opinion. If they employ individuals with personalities like Diego, who was condescending and haughty God only knows what they may do to your car. These are my opinions and I'm leaving them here to warn you: I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. Whatever it was, they give you the runaround and they're rude. They obviously are making plenty of money so they don't need my business and maybe they don't need yours. This place used to be my go to place for repairs but it's gotten horrible. I took in my vehicle because it was overheating and they diagnosed it wrong twice, unfortunately I ok'd both repairs, by the time they suggested the third repair suggestion the cooling system had pretty much entirely been replaced and it cost me over a grand. To top it off they didn't even fix the problem since the car is overheating again just two weeks later. Definitely won't go here again. read more

I went in to get my brakes fixed. They installed my rear breaks at a great price and did a good job. I won't be coming back here for several reasons. First they insisted that I needed new front brakes too. After looking at my billing, I realized that I had replaced my front brakes about a year ago, so there is no way that I actually needed front brakes. Then, my car looked as if it were ransacked. Contents of my center console, glove box, and trunk were all rifled through. Third, and this was the deal breaker--they did not give me back my wheel locks! I only checked my car contents since my whole vehicle was rifled through....but failing to give me back my wheel locks means that I could have been stranded somewhere and unable to even repair a flat!! unacceptable!! So, it's very affordable and they do a decent job with repairs, but I will never go back there. read more
