I've been trying for over a week to contact somebody at Alvin Islands and you can't get through to anybody. When you call the number it is obviously out of Miami Florida, not the Orange Beach store. It just keeps repeating numbers that you can enter and reverts back to recording. I have an extremely important issue about my credit card and can't get through to anybody. If this is the type of service this company gives its customers by not being able to get through to the store I'll never buy from you again. read more

Not a surf shop. A souvenir shop, yes. Surf shop...nada. They don't even know what a leash is. Nothing for surfing whatsoever. Just the typical tourist trap overpriced "hey mommy, I want a shell from the beach" type of establishment. read more

Can not find any good sales items today nut that's the way the souvenir crumbles. This place has been here forever, we first shopped Alvin's when we originally discovered Gulf Shores overv25 years ago. It's big and expansive and the cram every inch if the place from ceiling to floor with practically everything imaginable that you can paint, stamp or draw the words Gulf Sores onto. Hey they even fill the air with stuff with things hanging from the ceiling, yep it's stuff on too of stuff. To be fair they actually have some functional stuff too like t-shirts, swimwear, suntan lotion, sunblock, lip balm, sunglasses, wakeboard, inflatable sharks, umbrellas, chairs, beach wagons, beach towels, decorations, shells and shells and more shells. Indeed there are just about every kind of shell you can imagine from the little bag of random shells to bind full of larger individual one to the giant shells that you can proudly and tastefully display in your loving room or mancave. You can even find Christmas ornaments and decorations and hoodies & jackets. There's also some fudge and ice cream to be had, there's a lot to take in. Like many souvenir shops you'd find similar items across our great country with the name of the place you are visiting it's no exception here. If you need a t-shirt or some taffy with the Gulf Shores name proudly displayed for your family and friends then make sure to make this one of your stops while you're soaking in the sun, sand and surf. Just r remember that this isn't a boutique or a home depot so service is the one thing in short supply here and refund is a dirty word so please manage your expectations. read more

We love Alvin's Island. We go every summer during our annual beach trip. They have tons and tons of merchandise, tons of cute shirts, and name brand beach items upstairs. The kids always find plenty of souvenirs here. Prices are better than most of the other stores around. read more

If you care about being safe when out and about and the places you shop taking precautions to prevent the spread of COVID this is not the place for you but if you don't...this is your kind of place! Now for the 3 stars I gave they are because if it was not for Covid I would recommend this place for souvenirs or any other last minute beach needs (it was right across the street from the beach). read more

If I could give a zero I would. The employees were rude and not kid friendly. Why have a huge kid section of loud obnoxious toys if you don't want kids to Touch them. I am all about making my kids put things back where they got them from and only picking up things they would like to buy but having an employee yank something out of my child's hand was the end of the line for me. Every beach town has a store like this and I love visiting them. This time we took our granddaughter along and she loved everything they had for sale. We ended up finding her a dress, a shirt, swim shoes and mermaid dolls. We also got our grandson shirts and a cute surfer truck. My husband even found two good hats for golf sun protection. Are these quality life time products? Heck no! They are beach items good for one season. Like the song says, "summer lovin' ... drifting away," but fun while it lasts. read more

Return policy? BS. They won't take anything back ..will find a reason to not accept your return. I wouldn't buy it unless you're absolutely sure it'll work for you. Never ever shopping here again, despite their selection. I will happily take my business somewhere else. No sense of customer service at all. So disappointing. read more

Was shopping in store and was trying to ask an employee a question. Another employee almost ran me over and wanted to get by, not ask. I looked at her and said I would as soon as I could get my question out. Later had approx $50 of merchandise at counter and another kid said I'd have to wait till he was finished w his conversation and pushed my things back. Pushed things back and walked out. Horrible place. Don't waste your time. Wish there was a negative star. read more

I've been to a lot of souvenir shops, and this has got to be one of my least favorites. I remember going here when I was little but now that I'm older I can see how tacky and crowded it is. The clothes don't look as nice as other places do, and everything feels trashy. They do have good prices but I would recommend going to the surf style which is literally next to it. read more

Selection was very good and well priced souvenirs. The employees were not friendly whatsoever. I wanted a airbrush shirt and they let me stand there looking like a moron for about 10 minutes until I finally asked about it. Then they told me that the guy that does it wasn't going to be in. I was very much disappointed. They lady that was doing the check outs at the counter was just absolutely awful. She was one of the meanest people I have ever dealt with and should not be in customer service. I have been in customer service for 10 years so I understand we all have bad days, but this has been every time my family and I have been in there. Tried to shop there tonight and was on the phone while shopping. The girl at the front asked me to put on a mask. I told he i would when i finished my call. When I kept walking she followed me all the way upstairs. She got in my face and told me I had to wear a mask and she said she didn't care if I left the store. I kindly gave her my items and walked down the stairs. She followed my down and said rude things under her breath. I told her she had no reason to be rude. The merchandise was standard for a souvenir shop, but the staff seemed bored and uninterested and poorly trained. My sister purchased two boxes of salt water taffy and on the box of Alvin's Island taffy was a coupon that said "Free sand dollar while supplies last; no purchase necessary". My sister asked if she could use the coupon and the cashier ignored the question. After my sister paid and was given incorrect change in all quarters, she asked again, "Can I use this coupon or not?", and was told "not". She asked another worker on the way out and he shrugged and said he didn't know anything about it. They could probably stand to train their employees a little better since it was their actual store coupon on their store product. read more

My boyfriend bought two pairs of XL shorts from there- same brand on each shirts. He tried on the first ones, they fit fine. The second ones were way too tight and definitely not a true XL size. Being on vacation, we lost track of the receipt. When we come in only a day later and talk to the same person who sold us the shorts, she claimed they couldn't help us out at all (not even an exchange) without a receipt- and when questioned about what could be done she got noticeably frustrated. I will not be giving them anymore of my money. Sucks coming from so far away to go on a vacation to get treated with poorer service than what I receive at home. read more

So my friends and I went into alvin's island and asked for the airbrush guy. Keep in mind this was the 5th place we were directed to go to assured to have custom shirts. So we went here and one of the workers had told us that he was at starbucks and was going to be right back. So we waited for over half an hour and asked multiple if they could get him or tell to hurry because there were four paying customers waiting. So after we were getting a little inpatient of waiting we asked another worker if he was gonna be here anytime soon and she says he should be back in maybe an hour or so. I writing again because it's been over a month and I still haven't received my items that was not put in my bag on 9/06/ 19 cashier Nadia forgot to put it in my bag. I did everything you guys asked me to do emailed my receipt to prove the purchase and that I was in the store on that day. I also paid with my MasterCard. Watch your money, and keep a close eye on CASHIERS - overcharging. The shopping was nice and they had a great selection with reasonable prices which was why we went there, but .... when you get to the register they DO NOT let you see what they are charging & just give you a total to pay. When I questioned the total she looked at me like I was crazy & started talking a different language to the other cashiers. Turns out she charged everything - didn't honor any buy one get one, my bill went from $120.00 to $80.00 after I did the math.
