I went in to buy a hat and found one on the 50 percent off rack. I went to pay and the cashier said they don't discount hats. Why would you hand a sign on the rack and then not honor the price. Meh. I guess. Tourist heaven. Lots of weird inventory that creeped me out. I got a sweatshirt for 7.99 which is probably more than it's worth but I refuse to pay more for this shit which will disintegrate and bead up after the first wash. They had a couple of good deals here and a huge inventory so if this is your speed they probably are a gem for you. They have one on every corner seemingly so if you pass by one don't fret... there is another one within a mile. The signs say opens at 8 but we passed by several and they were all closed until 830 or so. Fail on that front. read more

One of the workers there were really rude and racist to be a woman of color herself. She profiled me based on the color of my skin. My kids and I were trying on the shirts to take back home with us. She immediately thought that I was going to take without paying pointing out that I had a basket full of stuff when I we wanted to try some things on. So of course I felt offended when she asked how many items then as I'm counting she had the nerve to asked me if I spoke English so from there I wanted to speak with a manager but everyone kept saying she stepped out for break. Everyone else was nice but her approach was very unwelcoming and I still want to speak with the manager. read more

Super fun store! Busy and colorful! Everything was very tight, the isles with the amount of stuff. But this place is Soo easy on the eyes! You immediately want everything when you walk in! Bought a pair of sandals here. Wore them once, to see if they fit. They don't. Go to return them, but apparently you cannot return them if they've been worn. It says this nowhere on the receipt, where they state their return policy, and how am I supposed to know if they fit if I don't wear them? These people are GOOFY as all get up! It took about 15 minutes to ring up my purchases! I only had 9 items! I bought 4 t-shirts. They charged me for 5. I told the clerk by the door and she said I had to get another T-shirt for them to scan that there are no refunds! So I find another T-shirt, get back in line at the register and explain he charged me for too many items. He scanned the T-shirt and wanted me to pay for it too!!!! Ridiculous!!!! I explained again I had already paid for 5 shirts, but only bought 4. Glazed over look. Do not shop here! They overcharge and will not refund you your money! The staff wasnt too helpful though, we arrived around noon and they only had 1 cashier for checkout; the remaining staff was stocking inventory and chatting away behind the checkout counter, hardly any were on the floor waiting to help customers find what they're looking for. The poorest example of customer service. We stopped in to buy some beach clothes. I wanted to try something on. I couldn't find anyone to open the dressing room door so I walked up to the cash register area. There were about 5 people in line and not one person at a cash register. Finally a staff member comes sauntering up, while looking at her cell phone. Certainly no urgency. I finally walked back to the store, and found some more staff members in an "employee only room" and asked if someone could open a dressing room for me. Horrible customer service! They've got the market down by the beach...why in the world do they need to cater to the customers? read more

The only reason this location got a star at all was the one employee that was work (short blonde girl) was very nice. We felt so sorry for her! There was a line of over 20 people and she was the only one checking anyone out. There was a guy with dread locks and woman in her 40s talking the entire time and never bothered to help anyone. I had a horrible experience. I found a couple sand toys that were in a bin to theirselves and the lady told me I couldn't get them as a single because someone else must have opened them from -- then told me to go to the Dollar General. Then manager told us not to use $100 bill because "we just opened we have to make money first," as if that's my fault. Everyone was rude and only talked to each other. NOT HAPPY!!!! This place is the absolute worse tried on a dress and when I went to put it back cause it was too short the dressing room attendant told me "you can put it back" and made me go find where it came from. My brother also bought a shirt and it was the wrong size so we went back to exchange it for a different size and had the lady yell "NO REFUNDS" in my dads face while he tried to explain they didn't want their money back they just got the wrong size. Extremely unhelpful staff. When I asked a question of an employee she responded by shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head, as if I was bothering her from sorting shot glasses. My experience at check out was horrifying as well. I was in like for 15 min while the cashier allowed the person in front of the line to run back and forth to get more stuff, while she chatted to her husband. No caring that there were other 4 people in line behind her. Meanwhile other staff is folding shirts. Worst store, we bought a diver set for our daughter. WE SPENT IN STORE OVER $100. First time try to use the google broke, we come back to store next day for a refund or an exchange. If I could give zero stars I would. My family and I are staying at a nearby condo and decided to take a walk to this Alvin's Island with the intent of purchasing some items. We researched what time this location closes and discovered that it closes at 11...or so we thought. After deciding to walk from our condo, we arrive at the Alvin's Island at about 9:40 p.m. when a female employee exits, sees my family and I approaching the door and rushes back in the store locking the door behind her. As I approached the door she quickly attempts to look busy fixing the shirts on the front display. When I pull the door handle she looks and yells "we're closed!!" Anybody ever heard of a store closing at 9:40? Me neither. So a few seconds later, the same employee comes out and lets out a customer who was shopping in the store. My mom asked the female "what time do you close?" To which the female refused to respond. My sister then called the store in hopes to speak with another employee who would give us an answer. A female answered the phone rudely mumbled something to my sister then hung up. I've attempted to find contact information for "Alvin's Island" corporate, but have yet to find any contact information. If you're looking for an Alvin's Island do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to this location. Store #725. read more

On the website it states that the store closes at 11. When we got to the store at 8:48pm someone outside stated that they were already closed. We saw people inside so we knocked on the door. A gentlemen answered and we asked what time they closed and he said 9:00. We then asked why the doors were locked already. He said they had to be out by 9pm. I have never heard of this before. You should be closing when you state that you are closing which would be 11pm. Very disappointing!! read more
