The staff is super friendly and helpful. My son (3) was coming in for his first visit ever and I didn't know what I'd get. They were so kind to him, and kept him involved in the process and he did great! I also had a pleasant experience (and I don't enjoy the dentist so this was essential!). I was explained what was happening throughout the process and was met with positive attitudes all around. Dr. Castro is super nice and cool! I felt very comfortable being there, so we will definitely continue our dental care here!

In short: Ortho clerk called me in March directly stating I am responsible for about $900 added to my bill because Insurance declined since 1/1/23, I asked why call me now 3 months later and continue to see me monthly and not tell me the last 3 months you saw me? Why they lost me after I am done with braces: She directly did not take accountability and said "In the contract you signed and initialed you are responsible for any off insurance fees"!!! That completely was rude but I remained polite! I again asked why call me 3 months later vs 1 week ago when I saw you or Jan or Feb? Again she put fault on me and my responsibility. I get it, If I was at fault!! Still no answer why not tell me in Jan or Feb when I saw them!!! She now blamed the billing department! My reply which changed her tune: Aren't your Ortho and your Dental office the same system? She said yes! Me: Well you all need to communicate better because I sent my new Insurance a month ago early Feb! (Insurances change often due to work and they should know this) not even a "Justin, did your insurance change?) She now checked the SYSTEM AND THEN CHANGED HER TUNE when she saw there is a new insurance in the system!! Still no answer as to why tell me 3 months later, why not check before calling! Very rude in my eyes to tell me "I signed a contract" which I am ok to pay if I was at fault! Instead of apologizing and taking accountability that they dont check their systems and instead call a costumer with a negative direct approach!!! After this is done, they lost a customer who loved them! No excuse! So rude!

I had been coming to Dr. Barnes for 10 years. Several incidents recently caused me to seek another…read moredental practice. 1) I had a change in my bite so significant that I could no longer whistle. It coincided with the start of wearing CPAP headgear for sleep apnea. I brought in the appliance. He would not look at it on my head saying it is not possible. I also brought a cast of my teeth from a few years prior to compare- he refused to look at it saying it wasn't necessary. (My new dentist identified that many people experience a change in byte with the onset of therapy) 2) I complained that there was a gap between teeth that smelled bad when flossing. He didn't X-ray the area. Instead he said, "he had one of those, too". (The new dentist used 3D xRay and found the source of the problem: a broken filling blocking the space between the teeth.) 3) In The summer of 2020 I had tooth pain and was headed to a remote location for a week and was concerned that it might get worse. Dr. Barnes was out of the office but referred me to an endodontist. Dr. Barnes never called afterwards to follow up that I was OK after he returned. 4) Dr. Barnes has not invested in any digital x-ray imaging stating other dentists are "lazy relying on it". The new equipment has so much less radiation that dental assistants don't even need to leave the room and they only place the lead apron on patients as they have come to expect it. (The new dentist identified 2 teeth that need root canals- I will continue to wonder if I wouldn't need this expensive intervention if caught earlier by Dr. Barnes.

Instead, I was told immediately that I "needed" Invisalign. Dr. Sumayyah Khan flat-out said she could do nothing about the chipped teeth. That's unacceptable! From the start, the entire visit felt like a high-pressure sales pitch, not dental care. I was rushed and bombarded by the doctor and staff, and the focus quickly shifted to pushing Invisalign instead of addressing the actual problem I came in for. The quote was $4,000. It was never addressed by Dr. Khan in prior visits until I came in for an "emergency " visit. It was an insulting for the benefit of their office commission sales. Bottom line: I felt dismissed, pressured, and not properly evaluated. If you want a dentist who prioritizes patient care over UPSELLING, go somewhere else. I do NOT recommend Smile Studio 87.

My criteria: a dentist in a convenient location, great Yelp rating (because I'm a working boss lady with no time to do Q&A on businesses), and above all, hours that meet my needs (aka late night hours and/or Saturdays). Disclaimer: Yes...I am the one that sent JPGs of ALL of our Dental x-rays from the past 4 years prior to our visit. You know... to "cover all bases" We were referred to Dr. Ann from friends who live next door to us in Wheaton. The hubby & I both work in the city so, although we are now "suburbanites", we were iffy about trading in our usual dentist with Saturday hours for Dr. Ann & the Tower Dental staff. Well we gave them a shot... AND WE WILL BE BACK :) Dr. Ann & staff were AMAZING! They fit us both in at the same time so we had a 'kill two birds with one stone' / double date night Dental visit. I had Dr. Ann for my cleaning. She was attentive, personable, and genuinely cared about my well being. Of course I did get the friendly lecture about flossing (I promise I am, Dr. Ann!) - she does it because she cares! The hubby did great as well :) Needless to say we immediately set our 6 month follow up and have recommended Dr. Ann & the rest of the Tower Dental team to two friends already! From the picky 'Dental office snob' that I am, 5 stars for Dr. Ann & team!
