I had a slow leak in my rear driver-side tire, and even though the screw was on the border of the side wall, they said a patch should be enough as long as I kept an eye on my tire pressure (which my car tracks digitally anyway). They didn't pressure me at all to get a new tire which was refreshing - even though they could have since a year ago I bought some cheap tires. I don't know how to start....my father was a customer that would take his work trucks for repairs, tires, oil change, etc. Everyone that worked there knew him and would appreciate his business. But like all it came to an end. My father took my truck there to replace a gas pump on a 1986 Chevrolet Pick-up truck. This truck has 2 gas tanks and what did with them telling us was that they canceled a gas tank and made it into just 1. We let it slide and continued. I picked up the truck with a full tank of gas drove back to Hayward and went to sleep. next day I went to class still full tank of gas and when I got out I left to San Leandro Kaiser for my volunteer work. I was on the freeway when i notice the gas gauge rapidly decreasing and smelled a lot of gas. I got out of the free way, to go home and drop it off. When I was at a red light waiting for it to turn green, my engine ignited in fire WHILE I WAS STILL inside. Luckily I got out before the rest of my truck caught on fire. I'm pretty sure most of the mechanic there do not have a title or certified to work as a mechanic. By the way this was the time Raul was manager. After my incident, I found out he quit and i find that very suspicious. I wish they really do take care of their customers and hopefully this does not happen to anyone. read more

I came to this place 2 times! First time I updated my rims and they charged from me $120. I told them do rotation and balancing! I drove away and noticed that my steering wheel is shaking! I returned back and told them to redo balancing but they said that they already did! They said I have to pay for balancing! I didn't had any options and paid them 100$ again! Don't go here. I requested to have my tires flipped and in doing so they broke my TPMS sensor and DID NOT mention it. (Was working before bringing it to the shop) I was told that the service was free after picking the car up but was not informed why it was. Upon getting my tires replaced at my usual/ local shop we discovered that the sensor was damaged not from use but from improper handling. This is going to cost me over $80 replace. Long story short, if you want to deal with dishonest and not so great service come here. I would recommend going to Mission Tire in Redwood City for amazing service and prices. read more

Big thumbs up for this place from a person who needed a good deal on brake pad replacements for a Jag. A lot of other places quoted me extra money for a car that had brakes like any other car. The guys at AMA seemed humble and caring, and that means a lot to someone who values that in customer service. There was a problem with my caliper and I had to buy a new one, so I researched the price of calipers and common problems. AMA installed the part for free and shopped around to get me a good price, saving me hundreds of dollars from the more expensive prices I found on the internet (without me asking them, they just did it and I verified that it was accurate when I went home. I was gonna give these guys four stars, but I can't think of any reason not to give them 5, as they were professional, considerate, and to me very helpful. I recommend this place to anyone who needs new brakes. The garage may not be state-of-the-art, but the service is top-notch from my experience. Thanks AMA! read more

I dont know how this place even has 4 stars... I had the worst experience Let start with why is there no hours of operations posted anywhere not even google, yelp, on the location anywhere itself. Lets assumme they open 9am I waited till 9am and they where not open. So I said ok maybe they open at 10am... So I called maybe 6times and no answer, also no answering machine message... Just keeps ringing. I show up at 10am and lo and behold they are open with no one answering phone apperently. I asked what time they open "usually 9am" what the heck kind of answer is that for a buisness. (As I was standing there the phone rang and the workers just casually didn't even acknowledge the phone. No one did and its loud) So I stand 10min waiting for the manager Raul to come to the front desk he casually strolls in, I said im interested in the original estimate he gave me 2 days ago. Btw he looks strung out.. He said hang on walks out and I wait another 10mins for him to come back and said ok what was it I was there for ... So apparently the tire he qouted me on where not even on site and that it would take 3hours to receive them not including the install time 1 1/2 hour more. Total time wasted 45mins to find out I wasnt getting those tires ... I left just pissed for having waited this long to even get an response. It would have been a hours waste of time to get 2 tires installed. Horrible experience . If you want great service go to mission tires in redwood city - honest and great customer service and turn around time. read more

I sent my girlfriend there to get cheap tires, and cheap tires is what she got, and there was no problem with that. However, their tire technician totally over torqued the lug nuts. So much so, it was nearly impossible to get any of them off. With great difficulty I managed to get 9 of the 10 lug nuts off, but the last one was virtually impossible to remove since the bolt is basically fused to the spindle. Thank goodness I discovered this while changing the brakes, because if my girlfriend had gotten a flat tire someplace out of town, the car would have had to be towed at possibly great expense, to a repair shop. After many attempts to remove the last lug bolt, I succeeded only in completely rounding it over. I even tried using a chisel as described on some Youtube videos. Nothing would take that last lug nut off. Out of frustration, I called AMA and they agreed to remove it, but when I got there they refused to take responsibility. Even though the manager assured me on the phone that they would take care of it, when we took the car in, he wanted to charge us $40 to get the lug nut off. Since the problem was caused by them in the first place, I wasn't going to reward them by paying them to fix it. Needless to say, I will never go back to AMA tire shop and I sincerely hope others learn from my very bad experience. I saved a few dollars on tires, only to end up with a bigger problem caused entirely by their negligence. read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. I drove by this place today and reminded me to write this review. I been to this place about 3 times, and the first two times were great. The staff was friendly and there prices were okay but the convenience out weighed the prices. Then I was in need of there services for a car show that was coming up. I needed some tires to be mounted on some BRAND NEW rims. Stop by early afternoon to find the regular guys were there and I said to myself What the heck they never did me wrong before. The "manager" says yeah sure we can do it but its going to be 20 dollars. I think to myself that's more then what they used to charge but i was in a bit of a time crunch so I still decided to go with them. As I help them unload the wheels into their garage I assumed that they would use the Touch-Less mounting system so I wouldn't have nicked up wheels. As I go back to the van and check back on them from time to time. 20 minutes go by and they have my wheels mounted and balanced. As I inspect them I notice ALL 4 wheels are nicked up from the machines. Of course I was super angry but I'm not the kind of person starts shouting and hollering why my wheels are like that. But what really set me off the edge was the guys attitude like oh that normal its not my problem. I go in and talk to the cashier asking to speak with the manager/owner and she tells me there is no manager/owner at the moment, after awhile she goes and talks to the guy that mounted my wheels and hes comes in and we have a brief conversation. He takes of 5 dollars and tells me to never come back. I was just speechless. I took my wheels and vowed never to go back and tell anyone In the area not to go there. Hope you take this review into consideration. still wondering if I should send my repair bill for the wheels to this "shop". read more

You can't even call these people mechanics. The shop was a mess. No customer service. I came in for a tire rotation. I watched them back another customer's car into a wheel they had left lying around. They didn't use a torque wrench on my wheels, they didn't cross the tires for the rotation and they overinflated my tires. Just stay away... I'be been working in the area for a little over a year. My tires have been very bald and I have been wanting to find some affordable tires for our suburban. I was going to purchase a set off of craigslist that I thought looked like they were in pretty good condition. But before I went any further I decided to stop by AMA new and used tires on 4th ave on my way home from work, I had tried to look up some tire places beforehand on Yelp and nothing came up, this place is fairly new to the area. In the end was able to drive away with 4 used tires in close to brand new condition for a great price! I was able to put $100 down to hold them until payday and pay the remainder after they were put on. The service was professional and friendly and the owner was also right there on spot, he seemed like a nice guy as well. Absolutely terrible. I pulled in at 9:05 am for an oil change with no customer in the shop. At 9:35, Joel said they didn't have my oil filter and it would take 5 min to get the parts. I took my car in because the ac didn't work at all they took a look and found that there was 3 holes in the tubes. At first they told me it would be about $700 to fix but after they started to work on it they told me they would only have to replace two thing and ended up saving me like $300. The guys told me that they didn't want to charge me for something I wouldn't need to get replaced. So I'm grateful to them and I'll be going here next time I need some work done on my car read more

This place is a rip of I took it here knowing my breaks needed to be bleed at that time I was told I would have to replace the master cylinder and it would be 200 on top of the 75 I payed for a diagnostic test they said it would be a waist of time to just bleed the breaks. I took to a different shop with charged me 50 to bleed the breaks because there was nothing else wrong with it the man refused to give me his supervisors number so I will be making a complaint with bbb. They told me to come in and they stayed open past their closing time to look at my car. I was worried that they may take advantage of the desperate situation and sell me a new set of tires but that did not happen. Went there for a simple flat tire repair on my BMW, actually a slow leak. Walked in, asked if they could do it and they said yes... All it was, was the seal on the rim was bad. They cleaned the rim seal area, remounted the tire, balanced it and back on the road in 20 minutes..... They did a very professional job. They'll have my business from now on for all my tire needs, you might consider giving them yours too. The previous shop I went to asked me a bunch of questions that had nothing to do with the flat. And when they figured out that I wasn't going to buy or go for anything else they said they couldn't do it. read more

I wish I didn't even have to give this place one star. I got a quote from a man a few months before my service. He was polite and honest. Few months later when I got my car service there was another head mechanic. He agreed to service my car for the quote I received. He had me drop of my car and asked me to come back. When I returned he told me to come back again. When I returned he told me that it'll take longer and I'd need to return the next day. The next day I received the call at 3 pm. My car was there for 31 hours. The mechanic told me to return in one week for a tire rotation. When I returned he said he didn't have time. I came back another day and he said he doesn't have time. It's been less than a month and a screw came off. I called and the man told me to tow it and we will pay for the towing. When I arrived to the shop, they refused to pay for my towing. $60 out of my pocket for the mistake of these so called mechanics. read more
