Nice atmosphere and great service for sure. Prices are fair and portions are solid. The guacamole with pineapple salsa is outstanding and the fried plantain chips are great! The Cuban sandwich is massive and solid! Not my favorite Cuban but good. The Cuban bread pudding is very good and definitely a must! Thanks for a good first experience!
Good food, good service and the inside is lovely. I think in the summer with the patio and live music it would be hard to beat, Not really many vegan options so I had the black beans and rice. The server brought them in small individual bowls. I used a side dish to combine them. Would have been nice is she had anticipated my needs when bringing me the food. My party of 6 had a great time. They enjoyed their meals. I will check it out again in the summer. The small three piece band playing really made the atmosphere. I recommend.
We were going to be in Newport, so I did a little research and thought Amador sounded good! We had never heard of it, but it got good ratings here on Yelp, so we decided to check it out. As usual, Yelp reviews did not disappoint! We really enjoyed our evening out. We had a seat by the window, with a beautiful view of Cincinnati, which was nice. Our server was very helpful in choosing menu items and the manager came by to check on us as well. I had the slow roasted pork over rice and beans. It was delicious and HUGE. I took home half of it to have another full meal the next day. It reheated very well. We have already recommended this restaurant to others and will definitely return.
First time trying this place after being exposed to cuban food in Louisville KY at la bodeguita de mima cuban. Walking in to the restaurant we were greeted and sat quickly. The decor and ambiance created an intimate and yet casual vibe. Service was good and the food came out quickly. The pan con bistec had a crunchy warm baguette and the meat was flavorful and seasoned. The ropa vieja was not the usual stew form and presented on a dish all pieced together. It wasn't the most flavorful vieja I've had but it was good and the portion of both dishes were quite generous. While this place might not be the best cuban food I've had it is a great place for anyone looking for a great ambiance and great food in the nearby area. I'd definitely return sometime in the future with a friend
Dined at Amador while visiting a friend in NKY and had a great experience! Our server was Neil and he took great care of our table- checking in on us just the right amount without it being TOO much. Honestly everything on the menu looked enticing, but I love a good caesar salad so I went with that and added shrimp for protein. The salad was great and a good portion size. We started with the plantains and guac- I would recommend that as well! Amador is decorated in such a fun and colorful way it makes for an overall great dining experience! I would love to eat here more often if I lived in the area!
First of all I want to say the restaurant is gorgeous. We felt like we were in Cuba. The music fantastic. Scott our server was nice and fun. We ordered the guacamole with smoked pineapple delicious. Now the not so good parts the mussels were full of grit and so small and lacked flavor. The broth is very good. We asked for more bread charged 3 dollars not necessary and my husband ordered a beer with a glass. It took over 20 minutes and never got a glass. Thought it was very pricey for the cost
We showed up to Amador at opening time on a Saturday so we had the place to ourself. It's beautiful from the colorful mural on the external wall leading up to the entrance to the really well-designed interior. It's super trendy on the inside and there's a stage that lets you know live entertainment is a part of the experience sometimes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. The one critique is that it needed more seasoning. We ended up using the remaining smoked aioli sauce from the empanada (and then ordering more of it) to add more flavor to both the mushroom sandwich and the lechon. The teenager liked her churrasco, especially the chimichurri sauce. All the plantains were delicious and perfectly done. The maduros had a very slight sprinkling of salt that really elevated the sweetness. I'd definitely come again, hopefully when the live music was going.
My Mr. and I was going to see a show at The Mega Corp. and was looking for a restaurant nearby. We haven't been to Newport on the Levee for years, so I forget what was there. We saw this place on their website. I love a good Cuban restaurant. Especially if they are serving empanadas. And they do!!! We dined in on a Friday night. We were seated inside. It had a Miami Beach feel. Beautiful colors, plants, and loved the Latin decor. Very spacious and plenty of seating inside and outside. Their menu is very simple yet it was hard to choose. Their meals are tapas style. I love places that do that. I love the shareable plates! So we got a variety of things. Also their drink menu is also great! Full options. Wines, cocktails and beer. They would pair great with your meals. We ordered: Drinks: Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Senorio De P. Pecina Cosecha rioja Escarlata Red Blend Miller High Life Small plates: Mussels Empanadas (beef picadillo and pollo asado) Dinner: Churrasco My favorite was empanadas and mussels. I love the sauces! Which paired well with the different proteins. The mussels was excellent! Rich broth and love the chorizo and cilantro. They all meshed well! The skirt steak was also flavorful! Cooked to our liking. Wished we saved room for dessert but couldn't make it. Maybe next time. Our server was friendly and very attentive. Overall it was a really good experience and I definitely would come back.
There's a new kid in town...Amador Cuban restaurant at Newport Levy. I've been so excited as I've watched it evolve over past months. It's part of the Pesola Hospitality group, and his fanciest place to date. I was impressed with the food quality and price points, which were very low for what you got....at least in my opinion. We started with Guacamole & Plantain Chips for $7. A very generous serving and perhaps the best Guac I've ever had. Chips were perfect in every way. Then Cameron's Con Pimenton ( grilled prawns, salsa, citrus pickle and microgreens) for $13. This had 6 large prawns and was more like a entree than a small plate it was advertised as. We all loved these. Two of us had salads...one with chicken and one with flank steak. This was one of the best salads I've ever had with ingredients like Cilantro, Cotija Cheese, spiced pepitas and dressed with Guava Vinaigrette. I expect this to be my go to on follow on visits. $20 range. Also on menu are Empandas for $5 each, lots of meat, rice and black bean dishes that are so Cuban inspired. I predict great things for this newest Newport hot spot. Riverview is outstanding, and there is ample outside seating right on the river front. Check it out and see for yourself!!!
Great meal for a graduation at Amador! While a little pricey, I expected that with the location. Super friendly and accommodating staff, and a great happy hour! We tried the Cuban samplers, beef empanada, ceviche, and a number of entrees. The mojitos were fresh but on the sweet side. We would go back!
Very nice atmosphere, was clean and inviting. The server was very friendly and nice providing excellent service. The food was very good. The croquettes were the best I ever ever had. The pork was good, but could have had more flavor. The mussels in coconut milk were plentiful and very tasty. All in all a very good experience.
The food at Amador was super tasty. We really enjoyed the cocktails too, especially the La Yuma Sour. It was light and refreshing with a nice note of mint. The crema on the tostones made them super good. I really wish the croquetas were a bit better, they came out a little cold in the center. The best thing we ordered was definitely the ceviche. It was light and perfectly citrusy. The spicy peppers on top were a delightful surprise. The cubano was bomb. The rooa vieja was also great. The food did take awhile but that's fine as it was the night before a holiday, a busy restaurant. We ordered beers and one came our room temperature. We asked for a redo and got one that was slightly below room temperature. The vibes at Amador are really great. It's a beautiful space and everyone was super nice and happy to be there. It was the potential to be really special if they can nail down the details to put it over the edge. The food is there, the ambiance is there, the service has a little ways to go.
Was so surprised to see this near empty on a Saturday for lunch! This place was so cute, such an adorable vibe inside & out. Right on the levy with great views of the city. The service was lovely, staff were friendly, attentive, and service was quick. I ordered 2 tacos, al pastor & coconut shrimp with a side of plantain chips. Both tacos were decent sized & filling! I had a pina colada as a drink & it was super refreshing for the hot day.

I have been to this place around two or three times now, is a levee for us personally. They have great ceviche and solid tacos. When at the levee it is worth a try! Has great views of the city and good drinks too. The service is always great in our experience. read more

Food and service was great, they had coloring pages and crayons for kids, and accommodated our large stroller wagon which was great. The coffee was honestly some of the best I've had and I really want to know who roasts their coffee so I can grab some! The espresso was really fruity and pleasant. I love that they also have some variety on the kids menu (not just your classic chicken tenders). We got Selah a kids Cuban sandwich with sweet plantains as she likes a wide variety of foods and it was fun to give her something new. read more

Beautiful place, I love the feeling this place gives. The service was good. The live music was soothing, I felt like I was chilling in Havana. I would go back for the setting alone. The food, however, was not the best but not the worst. I think i anticipated a lot more flavor. My cousin had the mussels cooked in a coconut broth, and she liked them. The guacamole and plantains were average. The plantain was fried too hard for me. The empanada was kind of bland, and I love a good empanada. We have many spots in the city that do them well. We had the shrimp and Al Pastor tacos. The Al Pastor had the most flavor. The shrimp were cooked well, and the taco was fine. I added some of the verde from the appetizer sampler for a flavor boost. My Old Fashioned Amador style had a bitter note that was not pleasant. I'd come back for a different drink and take in the vibe of the restaurant. read more
The atmosphere was clean, open and welcoming. They had live music that night and was easy to get seated right away at the bar. Bartenders were great! Very attentive and quick to serve. The food was delicious! I bought the Chicken al Pastor tacos. And my mojito was delicious. We bought the Rum flight...I'm not sure what was what, but the darker one was my favorite. One of them was coconut, but just reminded me of sunscreen . We also bought some yuca fries and plantain chips with guacamole. Everything was served quickly and all very tasty! read more
Forever on the search for the best Cuban sandwich in town, we clearly had to check this new joint out. I made reservations and would highly recommend you do so before heading out. The palce filled up quickly for a Sunday night. The hostess gave us a window with a lovely view of the Ohio river. We started off with a chicken empanada for him and guacamole for me. He said the breading was not greasy like others he's had elsewhere and the chicken was solid. It was served with a lime crema dip that I thought was really tasty and would buy it if the sold it by the bottle. The guac was made with bits of sweet grilled pineapple and just a touch of heat (maybe bits of jalapeño??). Anyhoo, he doesn't like guac but really liked this one. Our main courses arrived shortly after. I got the de La Casa salad and added grilled chicken for $8. The Gaia's vinaigrette was a great balance of sweet and sour. There was a lot of salad, so I was glad I ordered extra. The Cubano was very good. The bread was crunchy on the outside and a lil chewy on the inside. Basically, it was perfect. The ham has a nice smoky sweetness to it and the the pork was nicely flavored. He said the best part was the cheese. There was a lot of it and it complemented the rest of the sandwich well. The only thing he didn't live about it is there didn't seem to be much mustard or enough pickles and the meat was assembled a little oddly.. more like ham on one side and the pork on the other rather than being layered like you would expect. It's very very close to being a 5 star, but they've just opened and likely need to iron out some kinks with service and all that. (Not to say our service was bad at all. You can just tell they're still trying to work out the rhythm and flow and will soon run very smoothly). This place is gonna be very popular... so definitely make reservations before you go!!! read more
Had a great day with my mom at the Levy and finished it off with lunch at Amador. The atmosphere is very fun with a small stage and a nice tropical vibe. Our waitress was very attentive and personable and definitely made this a great experience. The food was great as well, the presentation was top tier and while I love a tortilla chip- the plantain chips complimented the guacamole in a delightful way. I ordered the chicken and the sauce was really flavorful and the chicken was moist and flavorful. All in all, while it is a little pricey if you are down for a bit of a splurge, I totally recommend. Next time I am in, I will have to try some of their cocktails because they looked delicious. read more

This is the most authentic Cuban restaurant in the Greater Cincinnati area. The atmosphere is phenomenal and you feel like you've been transported to another country. The plantains were excellent as was the Cuban. I would definitely come back! read more

Finally made it here! The host was extremely welcoming. And the atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Amazing decor very Cuban like so nice vibe. Our waitress was okay, she did not really check on us, and I feel like we were rushed out because she brought out the check before I had a chance to order dresser or coffee. We had the guava Paloma and a corona to drink. We also had the pineapple guacamole with plantain chips. The pollo asado and the Churrasco. The drink was very tasty, the guacamole was very yummy and different that the typical. The onion and pineapple deft change the flavor which was delicious, however, the plantain chips were cut very think so they were hard to bite. The pollo asado was on point, well seasoned and very good, same with the churrasco. I like that it was medium well and soft. The rice that came with both plates was okay, a little overcooked and not too flavorful. However it was a good choice. I also wish the churrasco had more chimichurri to actually taste it. Nevertheless, I asked for a habanero salsa which deft made it better Worth trying it! read more

The inside of the restaurant is so beautifully decorated! We went on a Monday evening for dinner and it wasn't too crowded. We were seated right away and our server was quick to check on us, take our orders, and ensure we were well taken care of. We went with the yuca frita as a starter along with mojitos (I mean, you have to have a mojito at a Cuban restaurant, right?). Both were very good! That sauce it comes with is SO GOOD! For our main dishes, we got the camarones and tamales. The flavors were so good and both dishes were delightful. Since we were here for my birthday, we had to get some deserts, too. My husband got the tres leche cake and I went with the flan (I LOVE flan). Highly recommend both! The flan was perfect and I would absolutely get it any time I go back. We will definitely come back here! Since we first went, we've ordered takeout as well and it was also quite good, so if you're looking for something to go, don't overlook Amador! read more

Everything was amazing Popped down to Newport tonight to try Amador We started with phenomenally fresh ceviche and plantains before diving into dinner. R had churrassco and I had camarones. We finished up with the biggest slice of trés leches I've ever seen...and made a party foul by leaving some on the plate. We were too stuffed! Definitely worth the visit. read more
My friend and I visited Amador on a Tuesday night before attending a movie at AMC. We decided to split a few things because the portions are huge. We began with the croquettas which were cheesy and delicious and came with an incredible dipping sauce. We saved some of the sauce for our Cuban sandwich and side of plantains. I had a Cuban in little Havana last year and this was head and shoulders above. What really stood out was the quality of the meat. I ended our meal with a cafecito which was sweet and delicious. The server was so helpful; he remembered my sweet tooth and brought a couple of sugar cubes with my drink. I can't wait to return in summer when the weather will match the atmosphere read more

We had a great meal-the service was top notch and the food was amazing. We tried the happy hour appetizer platter. It was very good- the guacamole was the highlight. For meals, we both went with the slow roasted pork served over rice and beans. The portion was so large my wife had another dinner out of her left-overs. Met a friend for lunch during restaurant week. It's been awhile since I've been to Newport on the Levee, but I was able to park in the garage and take the steps up. Noticed later that there was an elevator. When seating me, the staff member remarked that we would love our table view and she was right. You could see directly across the river which included two bridges. Our waiter was friendly and timely with our orders. Their 4-course lunch consisted of a Motito (mojito made with Tito's Vodka) , Lechon Tostones, Paella and Flan de Chocolate. I enjoyed all of it and am glad that we went. read more
This is a must stop if you want to try (or already like) Cuban food. The setting is very pretty- on the shore of the Ohio river in Newport. Located on the second story. The outside is painted I. Caribbean colors and reminiscent of Cuban images. The inside Carrie's the theme. There is a full service bar. We ordered mojitos to start with and they were very good. Three stars, mainly for the service and vibe. Our service was incredible. We had a larger party and they made it so easy for us and were very attentive. They are also killing it inside with the vibes. The interior is perfect. The food is not great. It's not horrible, but it also was not great... everything seemed very bread-y and overdone. I would come back for drinks only here. Come have a drink and enjoy the Cuban inspired bar and cocktail menu! read more

We love coming down to Newport on the Levee! We were here to see a new movie and picked out this spot for dinner before hand. The music is great and the outdoor seating is comfortable with a nice view. It's right on the river and you can see downtown. The service here is great! They accommodated us even though we didn't have reservations. A short wait and prompt service helped us make it to our movie on time. The selection of adventurous flavors along with the scent of seared meat will keep us coming back for more. read more
First time here, I went with a group of friends, all of us being from Puerto Rico (Cuban's neighbors) we went with high hopes and they delivered pretty much in everything. Starting with the appetizers, the Yuca Fritas where really good, well seasoned and crispy. The Croquetas; Now those are on another level.. Wow! they where amazing! The Cubano I have to give it an 7 out of 10. It was good but it was missing something. Maybe it was the really, really! fined pickles or the pork that was too shredded so it felt like pull pork instead of roast pork, but taste wise it was good. I was told the empanadas where really good, although I didn't tried them. The one BIG thing missing for us was the Cuban bread with butter on the side... that's like the jewel of a Cuban restaurant, we where hoping to be welcomed with that and there wasn't even the option to pay for an order. The service was great, there wasn't one Cuban or an Hispanic employee on site (at least on the floor) on a Cuban restaurant but the waiters tried their best to provide that Hispanic flair when explaining the menu options to us. The ambience was really cool, the location is great, you can dine in or outside as well with an amazing view of downtown. Definitely a place to try out if you are in the area, Ill be coming back for sure. read more
My lady and I were looking for a good spot for dinner before a concert when we found this place. A LOT has changed about Newport on the Levee since we last came and it looks like the changed are good too. The addition of this place is definitely a plus. Great Cuban cuisine with top-notch service in a very relaxing atmosphere. We stopped in on a Friday evening around 6:00pm. The place itself was very open with lots of seating inside and outside. It wasn't very busy so we were seated right away. The menu isn't huge but has a great selection of small plates, salads, sandwiches, and tasty main course options. Their drink menu is very nice too. Our server was immensely friendly and helpful. We started off with some empenadas (two pollo asado and two beef picadillo) and an order of mussels. And drink of course, my lady with a glass of rioja and I with a classic Miller High Life (don't hate on the champagne of beers). We hardly waited long at all before our goodies were served. They empenadas were some of the best we'd had in a while and the sauces they came with made them extra delicious. The mussels were excellent, especially when you got a bite with a mussel, a piece of the chorizo, some cilantro, and the mojo rojo broth. All the elements fit together perfectly. When we finished that goodness, we ordered the churrasco steak, and my lady ordered a red wine blend to paur with it while I stuck with the High Life. Again, we hardly waited long at all before our food came out, and it looked great and tasted even better. It definitely filled us up without making us feel TOO full. Our server asked if we wanted dessert but we had no room. Maybe next time though because the flan looked interesting. This is a great addition to the Levee and really adds to the overall variety dining options. I have a good feeling we'll be coming back agaim sometime. Maybe next time we go to another concert nearby, like in September when Cake comes to town. read more

This restaurant is close to all of the attractions in Newport and Cincinnati. It has a very Cuban feel and is very relaxing. The view is amazing. The staff are friendly and courteous. I saw that they had cachaca flights on the menu so I asked for a Caipirinha and they made it for me. It was fantastic. The empanadas had a cilantro sauce that was unique and I loved it. Marisa was my server and she was extremely attentive and helpful. I highly recommend, especially if you like authentic Cuban food. It is just a short walk from many hotels and venues. read more

Everything was a big hit throughout the meal. Between the five of us, we ordered the Guac, Yuca Frita, and Plantanos as apps, and the Cubano, Cuban Frita, Pollo Asada, Lechon Asado, Tamal for lunch. It was all flavorful, beautifully crafted, and delicious. As a bonus, it's a great choice for someone that is gluten-free or vegan. The overall, vibe inside and service was spot on, as well. A great new Cuban restaurant located in Newport on the Levee! My friends and I didn't make a reservation, but the host was really attentive, and got us seated within 20 minutes. We ordered some drinks while we waited. I got the caribe margarita, which was fantastic!! I love a good margarita and this definitely made the list. The bartender who served us was also super friendly and chatty. We had a great time talking with her, and I wish that I had gotten her name to give her a shout out! When we were seated, we were placed in a giant booth which my friends LOVED. We ordered the ceviche and the platanos (plantains) to start for appetizers--both were great. I especially enjoyed the plantains, as they were sweet, but not overwhelming. I ordered the pollo asado for my main course, which came with yellow rice. The plate was slightly smaller than I was expecting, but it was delicious regardless. The chicken pulled apart really easily and was seasoned well. Overall, I will be back. The atmosphere is super fun on the inside, and I really love how they have decorated it with the plants and bright colors. It is right along the river, so when their patio opens, people will be able to go outside and eat which will be nice during the summer. If anyone is looking for a new Cuban restaurant to check out, I would highly recommend Amador! read more
