I was referred to Amanda by another friend who was also a wedding coordinator. Like many brides, I thought I could do everything on my own. Boy was I wrong! I was engaged for only 6 months, and in those 6 months so much had happened. My father in law passed away a week after we got engaged and my mother in law had open heart surgery a month after that. If that wasn't enough, my fiancé had back surgery 3 months before the wedding. I initially met w/ my friend, the wedding coordinator, but figured I could do everything on my own, and could save the money instead. A month before the wedding, I was begging my friend to be our coordinator. Unfortunately she couldn't because she had just gotten engaged too (Fortunate for her :). That's when I was referred to Amanda. She was worth every penny!!! The moment I met Amanda, I absolutely loved her. She was just so calm, patient and sweet. I had already done most of the wedding planning and now I needed someone to execute the plan.
We met a couple of times before the wedding, and had lots of contact via phone and email. She visited the venues with me, had lots of questions for the vendors and was so organized. She helped create a time line, which is so important. She spoke w/ all the vendors, even our DJ who was a good friend from Seattle. She made sure the venue had the appropriate equipment for him, and if they didn't, she made sure to get it. We got married at a church that wasn't our own church, as ours was too far from the reception hall. The "wedding coordinator" that came with the church was a nightmare! She was extremely difficult, and only wanted to do things her own way. She didn't even want to meet w/ us, and just figured we'd meet for the rehearsal. Even to the Rehearsal, she was 20 minutes late, and then told us, we only had the place from 6pm-7pm, even though she was late! Since I hired Amanda, I never needed to speak to this woman! She did all the talking and she really advocated for us. Never was she rude, and was always polite and sweet. Everyone in the wedding party, and family/friends loved Amanda, and loved how thorough she was. She knew her job and she did it well. Amanda and her assistant did an amazing job setting everything up, as working w/ the vendors the day of the wedding. She was so prepared. She even had string in her purse, as I forgot to bring some to tie my father-in-laws wedding ring to my bouquet.
The wedding ran smoothly and on schedule as set by the time line. She was there early and left late. She made sure that all the gifts, food, cake, and decorations were packed in the car. I can't speak highly enough of Amanda and her team. I recall my husband and I sitting at our wedding, looking at everything and just saying "She is worth her weight in gold." To this day, we still talk about Amanda. Honestly, I don't know how anyone had a wedding w/ out at least having a day of wedding coordinator. It's fine if you want to plan your own wedding, but have someone to execute it on your special day. It's too much of a responsibility to assign it to a friend or bridesmaid, as they may not know what they are doing. This can result in lots of errors. Have a professional, who knows how weddings work. Honestly, on the day of my wedding, I didn't have to do anything, and if there were any issues, I didn't know about it. Amanda and her team took care of it. read more
