I was told about this spot a little over a year ago before I bought my car as I was planning out everything I would do to it and its costs. Once I picked up my car about two months later I took my first trip to bergen imports to schedule a tune, When I arrived I was greeted by Harrys assistant/secretary Helen she was very welcoming and she let me know that Harry we would be with me shortly. Before I knew it I was out of there with bodywork and some tuning work scheduled for the day my exhaust arrived. The team over at Bergen Imports is a bunch of respectful people. They are all willing to help you regardless if they work in the back or at the front desk. The bodywork came out looking flawless, my car looked brand new again and I was in shock that Harry was able to repair all the damaged panels without having to replace them. Although keep this in mind these guys can get really busy so try to schedule atleast a week or two in advanced and you'll have nothing to worry about and if its really urgent to be honest they seem like they would be willing to work something out if its possible. I had also went to them a second time for more body work on the same car after mercedes dropped my car off their power pusher. The damage was sustained to the same panels as before but on the opposite side that it was last time, although this time it was a bit worse and I had some rolled fenders that wasn't a problem they were able to fix it. These guys don't try to satisfy you just the first time they try to keep you happy so you keep coming back and thats what I call good business my fellow yelpers and I'm sure your reading this first because you know thats hard to come by these days. My car is mint again and has about 700+hp now for over 6 months tuned by renntech installed by the team at Bergen and have not run into any problems whatsoever. Wonderful experience. Brought our BMW 325i last week to change the starter, they ran a diagnostic test to verify that was the issue and within a few hours the starter was changed and the car was ready. They mentioned a hose needed to be replaced and I took it in this morning when they opened at 8:00am. By 2:00pm they were calling to let us know the car was ready. Our car is out of warranty with BMW and these repairs would've cost an arm and a leg. Bergen Imports was very reasonable. Very happy to have found good mechanics! The only reason I didn't give them the 5 stars is because it lists as having a tow truck. They recommended an outside towing service but it isn't an in service. read more

This place was recommended to me by two people so I went over there to see if they could fix my trunk lock after I was in an accident. I believe the guy's name is John that took care of me. He inspected the lock, got me a quote for a new piece and work ($200) but then wanted to check the lock again to see if he could fix one of the pieces and save me some money. Well golly gee! He managed to fix the lock and even was able to fix the second piece as well. The best part? He didn't even charge me! What was also great was that I had body damage on the car as well and I asked about a price. He didn't push for me to fix it as it would be expensive and I have an older car and it really isn't worth it. They seem very trustworthy. Just took the wife's car in this past week. They diagnosed an issue with 2 of the 6 ignition coils, recommended they all be replaced (including spark plugs) and explained that since the coils have been failing, unburned gas has most definitely made its way into the motor oil, so that (and the oil filter) should be replaced as well. They completed the job in one day and charged me exactly what they estimated. No surprise charges or hidden fees. When I went to pickup the car, Ilyas explained all the work to me, walked me out to my car and made sure everything was working well. The car felt brand new on my drive home. Objective review based on my experience: In the not so distant past, I took my car to Bergen Imports because my steering was very stiff, specially at slower speeds and there was a subtle squeaking noise coming from what sounded like the steering column. They recommended replacing the power steering pump. I agreed and after spending roughly $1000 dollar in parts and labor, the steering basically remained the same; it was not fixed. I drove it home and immediately called them back and mentioned that the car felt the same. They had me go back, where it was explained to me all the work that was done, etc... that we should let the new pump work for a few days to flush, blah blah blah. I left semi convinced that nothing was wrong, and that perhaps my car just had stiff steering. On top of that, some weeks later, the steering deteriorated further and with the help of a friend with a mechanic background, we find that the return hose from pump to steering liquid tank was leaking and that the car was almost without liquid. I had to replace the hose myself which looked like original manufacturer hose. I'd think they would replace the hoses as part of the work. I thought about calling them and complaining, but didn't see the point at this time. I was already out $1000 in unnecessary labor and had decided I would probably never take my car there again. Soon after deciding that I would not go back, nor any of my family members for that matter, I made a routine oil service appointment with the car dealer, knowing that I was probably going to pay a little more for labor, but the work would be done properly, I mentioned the steering issue and lo and behold, the issue had nothing to do with the pump. Long story short, dealer fixed the issue and the steering now feels like you are cutting through melted butter. While I'm sure the do plenty of ok work here, they diagnosed my issue wrong, left a leaking hose and upon completion of the work, and after spending a pretty penny, they convinced me that it was normal. I took my car to Bergen Import a couple of weeks ago for body repair. My infiniti G35 got side swiped by a semi from bumper to bumper. The body shop manager John gave me an estimate which I though was a little high at first. He explained to me that it is because he need to replace both door panels. He was very patient, thorough and professional. What I learn to appreciate was the fact that he wanted to do the best job possible and will not sacrifice good results by taking shortcuts. Not cheap, but Harry runs a terrific shop. I bought a 1988 BMW 735i that I really shouldn't have. It needed lots of work and Bergen Imports brought it back from near death. I've since put another 60k miles on it. He's thorough and really knows his cars. Best with Mercedes, BMW, Porche, it's weird how many little things he knows about these cars. I had a positive experience working with Harry in repairing my Porsche 911. When reviewing any business, the most important question is "Would you go back?" and the answer is "Yes!" I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change and an oil leak was noted by the rear main seal area. It is indistinguishable to tell if the IMS bearing was leaking or if was from the RMS. At the time, I only had the car for 6 months but was told that the IMS bearing was previously changed. However, I wasn't given any records. When Harry took my car in, he confirmed the IMS bearing had been upgraded and then proceeded to replace the RMS. I honestly wouldn't have known either way if the IMS bearing was or wasn't replaced. If he were a dishonest guy, he could have lied to me and capitalized on selling me an unnecessary part and billing for the labor. Instead, he called me and mentioned that my clutch was almost worn down. Since the transmission was already out, he offered to replace it now and essentially save me the labor a year from now (when it was likely going to fail and need to be replaced). In a nutshell, he didn't do unnecessary work. He tried to minimize my costs while doing essential work that needed addressing while the engine and transmission were already out of the car. read more

These guys are total rip offs i own a 1985.5 porsche 944 and needed my ball joints done the parts are $185 for a rebuild kit and they told me i need to replaced both control arms because the ball joints and control arms are 1 piece LIARS!!!! they quoted me over $1400 for the repair........i cant beleive how much of a rip off they are i took the car to Hybrid Motors in fairview and the rebuild both ball joints parts and labor were under $385 read more

I will be fair and say the work was ok unfortunately you really have to be careful when taking your car to this place and take pictures of your car before you leave I should've went with my first instinct when I first got there and saw one of their employees back up a BMW into a parked car but after looking around and seeing all the high-end vehicles they were working on I figure that I was safe , I left my car there to be worked on what a mistake I left there very frustrated. First I was called because they could not find my wheel lock so when I get there to show them where the wheellock was they told me they had found it but when I was there I notice a dent on one of the door that was not there when I brought the car there, I was pretty much called a liar to my face and they try to convince me that was there by showing me pictures of the door and in the picture clearly shows no dent so I left there feeling like there was nothing I can do about it but later to be called by the receptionist and told that they took care of it I wish I can say that was the worst of it but it wasn't after picking my car up I noticed the grill on my Audi A8 was damaged I knew I was going to get the runaround again but I had to say something so I went back to Helen and told her about the grill just to be told that that was there already when I know that obvious damage was not on my car when I got there, very sloppy work and management does not take responsibility for there actions beware read more
