It was difficult for me to picture everything coming together, but it was so far beyond amazing. I am from the Philly area but now live across the country and during a visit home Melissa took a ton of time to sit down with my planner and I to make sure my vision came to life. I had several ideas but needed guidance and she was phenomenal in helping me narrow down options. She also worked with me on budget and provided clear line items of what could be done. I will preface this by saying that I very rarely write reviews, let alone bad ones, but I feel strongly about this. I cannot express how awful the quality and customer service is at Amaranth. I had worked for weeks with them for a wedding bouquet. The bouquet they presented me with the day before my wedding looked nothing like what we had talked about, the pictures I had sent them, and only contained one of the flowers I had specifically requested. The color scheme was also not what we had discussed. Not only was it not what we talked about, but it was poorly arrange, and awful quality. I was told that my bouquet was composed mostly of flowers from an event they had that week (I picked up Saturday). The flowers were drooping, had brown spots, and some were just falling apart. Not only did they not apologize, but they treated me poorly. They first blamed me by saying I hadn't given them enough time. They had 4 weeks, and I had been very specific about what I wanted from the beginning. I confirmed they were able to do what I wanted within the given timeline before starting to work with them. They also said I had not specifically explained what I wanted, and should have done so. I had explained several times over the phone and via email, in addition to sending multiple pictures. I had also told them that the choice of flowers and freshness were important because I would be pressing them and giving them as gifts. This was, in part, why the bouquet was so important to me. One worker patronizingly said that the bouquet is "just one part of a wedding, and the flowers wont be where the focus is." I have no words for that comment. I was treated like a problem customer, and they were just barely trying to ingratiate me enough to be quiet and leave. I ended up going to Whole Foods and making my own, much nicer, bouquet. My experience was awful. I have never been treated so poorly in a business, especially a locally owned one. I will never go there, and have told all of my friends and family the same. I recommend the same to anyone looking for good customer service and good quality flowers. read more

I don't recommend this florist at all. The proprietor talked me into white roses by insisting that she could get pure white. I cared mostly about color and was willing to go with daisies in order to get the white look, since I know many "white" roses are more of a cream color. What arrived on my wedding day was cream-colored roses. The point isn't that cream-colored roses are terrible if that's what you like, but that something other than what I ordered arrived on this incredibly important day, with no apology or explanation. I am sure her initial claim was only in hopes of getting me to pay for the higher-cost flowers; daisies would have been less money. Avoid this place. Edit: The reason for there being no record of me at Amaranth Florist is that, like many, i do not use my real name on this site. I find it funny that the owner thinks my name might really be "Lime Lady" or "Dame Vegan." My account of this experience is accurate. I was promised white roses, and got cream/off-white roses. As always, I strive to give an accurate account of my dealings with businesses, and in this case, the color really was off. read more

The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because I've only been to the Philly area once and I haven't seen the product first hand. They have amazing service and the special girl I sent flowers to was very pleased. I placed my order on Black Friday and it was delivered within 3hours. I met with Loretta to talk about what I wanted, and she sent me a quote that was very reasonably priced and included everything that we asked for. She was very responsive via email and set up appointments for me to go over things and view samples. The day of the wedding, we were so pleased with how everything turned out - the bouquets were GORGEOUS, the flowers for the men and our mothers/grandmothers were perfect, the set up for the ceremony was just how I imagined it, and the centerpieces for the tables were incredible (we asked for super tall branches with lights and she delivered). Their arrangements look beautiful, but I ordered flowers from out of state for Mother's Day and the day after I ordered I received an email saying they could not fulfill my order because the flowers are out of stock. They did not even offer any help or ask if I wanted something different which was a big inconvenience considering how last minute it was. For this, I will not be ordering from them again. They should've updated their website correctly to reflect the out of stock flowers and make more of an effort to avoid this kind of situation. I'm pretty disappointed. read more

I selected Amaranth as a local florist based on Yelp's positive reviews. I couldn't be more disappointed. I selected the "How Sweet It Is" bouquet, and from there selected the "Best" option (of "Good," "Better" and "Best"). When I spoke to the florist, she had me hold while she confirmed they had the flowers I'd selected, and then confirmed that they did. Later that day, my friend sent me a picture of the flowers she'd received and they looked NOTHING like the beautiful bouquet I'd selected. Instead, they looked like a bouquet I might have purchased from a grocery store. The picture showed about six flowers, whereas the "Best" bouquet had about 30. We called the florist who said that she had replaced the selected flowers with ones of equal value, not number of flowers, so instead of a robust bouquet, it was thin. Her response was only "I'm not sure what you expect me to do about it." Seriously, I wish I could attach a photo and let you be the judge. Totally disappointed and angry. read more

I ordered a 12-rose arrangement 12/10 for my sister's birthday on 12/11. Since Amaranth does deliver to Wynnewood area until 3pm in the afternoon, the owner explains to us the situation even we requested online to deliver by 11am. It turns out they delivered a very beautiful arrangement (my sister was very impressed) by 4pm, enough to 'surprise' my sister. When I called the 2nd day to ask why it was not deliver earlier as stated before, she explained that there was holiday traffic situation which was out of their control. The owner, Melissa Parker, was very nice to offer a complimentary Poinsettia to deliver to my sister the following day as additional gesture for customer appreciation. My sister was even MORE impressed now. Ms. Parker definitely did a wonder job serving her customers with very high quality flowers and very good customer service. Amaranth Florist provided the flowers for our wedding in Philadelphia, fall of 2016 (bridal and maid-of-honor bouquets, boutonnieres for groom and 2 groomsmen). We were initially turned down by multiple florists due to our small budget, and were told we wouldn't be able to find what we wanted for our requested price. We were considering buying our own flowers and cutting them the day of the wedding, when we spoke with Loretta at Amaranth. Loretta was very patient and gracious as we made up our minds, and she very kindly worked within our small budget without pushing us to spend more. She definitely gave us the most we could get for our money. The flowers turned out beautifully and elegantly and were the perfect match for the day! Just received a beautiful flower arrangement for my wife. But the driver left it on the top step in front of the screen door. He did not ring the bell or knock just left them there. Lucky my wife heard something at the door and I went to check. If I had opened the door the flowers in a very large glass vase would have fell over down the steps and shattered. I was able to yell out the window and tell the driver that i could not open the door. He did come back up the steps and moved them. read more

I used Amaranth for my wedding flowers. Loretta was very easy to communicate with and she was very flexible in keeping with my budget and my preferences in the design. I was able to speak to her about the price for each item and I was able to pick the exact flowers I wanted. She told me what flowers were in season, which ones would be pretty and affordable during that time, etc. They don't try to up-sell you. We used Amaranth as our wedding florist and couldn't have been happier -- with the flowers, with the arrangements, with the service as a whole! We didn't have a particular theme in mind for the flowers, and so we met with Loretta a few times to talk over some options. The only restriction was to find flowers that weren't too fragrant, as I tend to get sneezy from the pollen. Loretta went above and beyond in every way. The bouquets were beautiful, with sunflowers and irises (some of my favorites); the centerpieces for the table were gorgeous (guests took them all at the end of the night, they were so lovely); and the chuppah that Loretta put together for us was simply breathtaking: she wove flowers along the poles. Loretta was happy to work within our budget, and the end results was more memorable and gorgeous than anything we could have imagined. My daughter ordered flowers for me for Mother's Day. The flowers never arrived. The next day they brought the flowers around 3:30 in the afternoon. I never received a call despite them having a contact number. When I called and spoke to the manager Loretta, she never apologized and told me they thought they would deliver them on Monday instead. After being pressed she said it was their mistake bit still no apology. No way to running a business. Don't accept an order if you can't deliver it on time. That is a scam. read more

Loretta is a WONDERFUL, incredibly talented florist. I came to her several months before our big day with a bunch of unique ideas for our winter wedding, including DIY vases and a whole vision for centerpieces. I came back in a second time, and she actually created a sample table centerpiece for me to see! She consistently communicated with me, my mom, and even my maid of honor from the first consultation up until the morning of the wedding. She was on board for anything I wanted to do, and she kept true to our vision in every way. She incorporated pieces of my dress, suggested flowers and greens that would help the price, and took last minute requests in stride. Our personal flowers were gorgeous - matching in theme but unique in their own way - and they arrived on time to the church. Our centerpieces at the venue was set-up meticulously; we received countless compliments. And the price? PERFECT. Other vendors wanted to charge so much more, and Loretta knew how to keep the plan within my budget.
