This restaurant is adorable! My friend and I were just looking for a halfway point between us to meet for dinner and we loved this restaurant! The food was delicious, the service was great (almost too attentive for our taste) and the ambiance was lovely. My friend had a fish taco and yucca fries and I had the chicken burrito. The chips and guac tasted homemade. Highly recommend this Mexican place!

Been here several times through the years, but for reason I never left a review. Had my birthday dinner here with a group of 10. Service was excellent - I believe they're all family and maybe the owners too? Even though we ordered a ton of dishes, they managed to bring them all at the same time and at the perfect temperature too. Their steak is amazing - definitely some of the best I ever had. But the star was definitely the short ribs. It just melted as soon as it made contact with my fork. Only gripe is that their aguachile was not spicy at all. Would've loved it with a bit more heat. But will definitely be back more often.

Sat outside, good shade even when it's hot as b*lls. After spending winter months somewhat hibernating, most New Yorkers appreciate this. Family owned I think, and the attention to detail is felt in every bite. I loved everything I tried, crab tostada, chicken flautas and I'm still holding for dessert. Fresh, made to order, and no pre packaged sauces, swing by for taste of Mexican soul food amidst this gentrified hell hole.

My second visit in over 3 years. Fantastic Williamsburg neighborhood restaurant serving consistent high quality food, case proven as still going strong despite the Covid restrictions. Family operated by mom, husband and wife, very friendly and efficient. Fish was cooked perfectly with a nice sauce that complimented it well, highly recommended for fish lovers. Chicken cooked crispy and moist on a bed of mixed chopped vegetables. Seafood rice full flavored, the kind where you can taste the ocean. The food and drinks were great when they came. They were completely overwhelmed and unorganized on Cinco de Mayo. Orders took a long time if you were sitting outside on the patio. It took 20 minutes for our first round of drinks to arrive for a party of two. The table next to us 30 min for their party of 6. 40 minutes later we finally had our appetizers guacamole and ceviche. Since we were chatting and catching up we didn't realize that our tacos never came after 40 minutes until half of the order arrived for the table next to us and another parties food who had arrived an hour after us their food came out. Excuses were made that their kitchen made errors and they were trying to make our order. 2.5 hrs later the tacos finally came out. Our server was nice but it shouldn't take 3 hours

Food here is surprisingly good, and I walk out with favorites aka reasons I will return. Great spot to grab tacos and a drink in Bushwick! I came here for early dinner on Cinco de Mayo, and restaurant filled up quickly after we got our food. There's a filming crew outside, so it make the place extra vibey. I ordered a Mezcal Margarita, and it was delicious and tasty, slightly smoky with the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol in there! Fish in the fish taco is lightly battered and fried, and the sauce makes it so unique. I wish we ordered more, but see photos for what we ordered. Restaurant is clean located in the busy area of Bushwick. Great food presentation, and friendly service! Looks like it's a family owned business? I'll be back!

Short Ribs with Mole Rojo is a very appetizing entree and it comes with rice. It's sour and slightly sweet with a red sauce all over and it's the most tender and juicy short ribs that are slow cooked. The Steak(medium rare) is surprisingly amazing and the vegetables on the side match with it so well. The sauce that the steak comes with is slightly spicy/salty and enhances the flavor of the veges and steak. Also it's quick, only took 20 minutes max. The shrimp ceviche is a little bit bland, it does come with chips to dip into the ceviche. The tacos: Steak taco -tasted bad Chorizo taco -amazing, very flavorful but not too salty Fish taco-amazing, very crunchy and juicy on the inside, the pico de gallo works as an oil cutter with it's sour flavor. Corn on the cob- Not on the menu anymore but they made it for us when we asked. I asked them to cut it in half and they had no issue with that. The cheese, sauces and spices on the corn was amazing but the corn itself wasn't sweet enough. TLDR; Definitely get the Short Ribs, Steak, fish taco, chorizo taco!! 10/10 would definitely come again!

You haven't had Mexican until you've had Amaranto. In fact, they've set the bar so high, I would never consider eating Mexican elsewhere. Except maybe Mexico. I probably spend most nights eating at or ordering take out from Amaranto. This has become one of our go-to spots for when we have visitors from out of town, everyone we bring is always impressed with the food here. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Highly recommend the crab tostada appetizer, chicken entrees, and the seafood with creamy rice entree. The food here tastes very fresh and presented beautifully. My boyfriend and I shared the crab tostadas, the Tumbada, and the porkchop, and all the meat and seafood are cooked PERFECTLY. We were served by an older gentleman who was very kind and attentive. It's like the really CARE here or something. No "splatter platters" here. Beautiful bar with nice wood shelving shaped like a Mexican pyramid filled with bottles of Jarritos and Mexican cokes, but still BYOB for now. read more

Not bad, not bad at all. Would go back but probably order something else besides the seafood and shrimp rice, just too much green rice for my style. Not sure why it was so empty on a Friday night at 7pm. This place definitely deserves a bigger crowd. read more

This was my first visit to this place. The food was mediocre. The mole poblano sauce was the most bland I'd ever eaten. A few of the Yucca fries weren't fully cooked. My husband's short ribs with green mole looked unappetizing. He confirmed they were bland but the reason I'm really writing this review is because he got FOOD POISONING from it and was throwing up all night long after we left. Worst thing a restaurant can do is serve bad (as in rotten) food. Never going back. read more

From my initial drop-in after a day of errands, Amaranto has become my go-to restaurant for Mexican food. By now, I've tried the entire menu, and have enjoyed every selection. My favorite happens to be the "Chicken,"(as it's listed on the menu and) which is done always to perfection. I usually pair it with their red sangria, which they make with tequila; it's also perhaps the best I've had, most especially because it's not too sweet. read more

this place is totally underrated. Everything on the menu is great but all the vegetables are super nice fresh and organic local farm for the most part. and the mixed drinks also really so good. Trying to order dinner, the person on the phone denied to deliver at 10pm due to the delivery person was afraid to come to my block. I live in the best block in Bushwick!! how can you have a business running and have your personal refusing to deliver ?? This is New York City anywhere you go you have a chance something can happen to you, if you have a business you can't be stereotyping areas. This is outrageous, unethical, unprofessional and discriminatory. You guys just lost a good customer that spend weekly $100 minimum... In your restaurant now taking my business somewhere else where they appreciate my loyalty better. Thank you! read more

This place is great. I had a crab meat tostada, guac, chicken, pork and fish taco. A m a z i n g. The chicken and fish tacos are super spicy so if you're not into spice don't order them or ask them to substitute it for you. Pork taco was my favorite. The place was empty. We were the only people eating there at 5:30pm on a Saturday. The staff was so friendly and service was fast. Can't wait to go back. read more

Absolutely loved this place! Just went there last night for the first time ever and absolutely loved the food, atmosphere and staff. The manager was so friendly and recommended some dishes. I ended up getting a steak burrito and my friend got the mole enchiladas. The burrito was fantastic and my friend enjoyed her enchiladas. The burrito was large and filled nicely. I also liked that they put lettuce inside the burrito as well. Definitely will go back again soon. read more

This restaurant was a great surprise reminding me of past visits to the best in Mexico. I visited with my family on a rainy Sunday and was knocked out by the amount and complexity of flavors in all the dishes. The guacamole was wonderful and authentic. I really enjoyed the duck and fish tacos, they were amaizing. The pork ones I didn't care for. The individuals I support are on limited incomes and cannot afford meals from establishments such as yours, so they bring their own lunches while staff members purchase food and beverages from your business. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.

Despite there being only two waitresses working during our visit, the service was fast and attentive. We were seated quickly, and our orders arrived without much wait, which was a pleasant surprise given how busy the place seemed. The guacamole was a standout. I especially appreciated that the cilantro was served on top rather than mixed in, which is great for those of us who aren't fans of it. Unfortunately, the short rib quesadilla didn't quite live up to expectations. While it had an authentic presentation and generous portions, the flavor was surprisingly muted. The meat itself was tender, but it lacked the seasoning or richness you'd expect from short rib. We ended the meal on a high note with the churros, which were excellent. I stumbled upon this gem by accident. So glad I walked in to check it out. The staff explained to me that it is BYOB for now and handed a menu if I wanted to see their food. I came back the same night and I brought my girls with me. We had a six pack and empty bellies ready to dig in! After a horrible and energy draining experience at La Lupe - a so called authentic cantina by Myrtle-Broadway we needed to revive our faith and taste buds! So we did! We had crab tostadas, lots of crab tostadas!!! It was a crab tostada fiesta! We also had some mole with veggies - actually we started with it and we finished with flan for desert! I was so excited to try this place. However, I was Disappointed....the guac and chips is meh, no flavor at all and I think the chips tasted stale. When asked the waiter what were their most popular tacos he recommend the fish & steak, so that's what I ordered. The fish taco was edible the steak taco had zero flavor. My friend ate the pork taco and said it was tasty so I ordered that taco....it was much better tasting then the first 2 I just tried. Service is ok...sangria was ok, nothing special.
