The food was surprisingly delicious. We loved the beef brisket (mix fat and lean), and I had the regular bbq sauce to go with it. The beef was so tender and definitely will go back for just the beef alone. As for The baby back ribs it was bery tender but I liked the beef more just because with baby back ribs I'm used to having more saucey texture but despite that it was still seasoned really good. The fried okra was something I also liked not very often you see okra on a menu. We ordered both 1/4 lb. I took my kids here and it was excellent! Attentive service, great attitudes, friendly staff and loads of indoor and outdoor seating. The sauces are delicious! We ordered two plates of burnt ends and I should have ordered more. They were a huge hit. We also tried the brisket, beef ribs, baby back ribs and pulled pork. All amazing especially the meaty ribs and brisket! We had the smoky beans and coleslaw for sides and we had nothing left to take home. These guys devoured it all! We came here after pumpkin patching and it was the only thing around with high ratings and was open during that weird 3-4pm hour when most places close before dinner service. My wife & I met our friends here yesterday and it was awesome! We sat on the deck and the weather was perfect. The baby back ribs were okay, but the 1/2 pound of Beef Brisket were amazing! We ordered it "fatty" not lean (that's not on the menu). The cornbread and butter-honey was off the hook. The Texas corn was a YES for me! I also loved the Mac & Cheese. Had lunch with some of my Duvall family here based on my Daughter's recommendation. Had the Brisket Dip and it was really good, brisket was well smoked and tender. My son-in-law had their brisket Tacos, he let me have one and the brisket was just as good as the Dip, however, the Tacos need something more. Outlaw BBQ in Spokane does brisket Tacos better, there are more veggies and sour cream and are just better. My wife wasn't happy with her pork ribs. She said mine (I smoke mine 6+ hours on my Traeger before wrapping them to make them fall off the bone) but I didn't try them and will trust her opinion. Overall though they do good BBQ. read more

I grew up in Texas, and the Amarillo reminds me of home cooked bbq in the best way possible. Came in today for the prime rib sandwich special, and some fried okra. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and high quality. Friendly and helpful staff also called to confirm if I meant to place the same order twice online ( I didn't, and probably just clicked wrong). Yummy. We've been coming here since a couple of weeks after the opened. I think it gets better. They didn't have the whole menu at the beginning. But then, the service improved. They are very patient, always with a smile, and very attentive. Food arrives in some minutes. When you are finished, toss everything in the garbage bin near the outside entrance. Very nice to visit them during summer so you can enjoy of their patio tables. But they get busy fast. What I would recommend is to try first their 3 options of sauces (sweet, regular, spicy). Because they will give you plenty and it is a shame to waste too many if you prefer one only. read more

Overall very happy with everything. We ordered 2 brisket sandwiches which were very tasty. Brisket was delicious and beef/bbq sauce/bun ratio was perfect. We also ordered some sliced turkey which may be a new menu item and it was delicious. Next time I will get a turkey sandwich. Generous portions for the sides. Interior is cozy, clean and nicely decorated. Only minor gripe is sandwich size. I wish it was a bit bigger but this is a universal complaint to every restaurant I go to anymore. So after ordering food for 4 (73.47), we had a 45 minute wait for our food. When it came, there was only the one kids food. Fifteen minutes later, two of the adults food showed up, and 10 minutes after that most of the last order came. As we continued to wait for our food, one server asked us every ten minutes if we had gotten all of our food. To say that the lack of customer service was annoying, is putting it mildly. The food was ok. Not amazing, and not worth the wait. We were told that the small kitchen was the cause of the problems, so I dont expect it to get better any time soon. At the very least, the server could have updated us on when our food would come. Offering an appetizer might have helped. Either way, I feel that 2 stars is generous. read more

This place lost me when they left Monroe. Used to love this place. The menu is not even close to what it was before they moved to Duvall. The worse thing they could have done, they did. Eliminated the Gorgonzola Mac & cheese with or without the brisket. Best Mac & cheese I've ever eaten hands down. As well, they used to serve you at your table. Now, while you're eating, every time you want a beer, you have to go stand in line and wait your turn to wet your whistle? I ordered a beer when I ordered my food and drank it while I waited for my dinner. When my dinner arrived, I needed another beer and had to go stand in line again? By the time I got my beer, my family was half done eating and my food was about cold. That really sucks. I guess I don't have to have a beer with my dinner, but if that's the case , I'll just go somewhere else? The food, the service, and the ambience in Monroe was great! Everything we ordered was great: Chopped Brisket: Tender, moist and full of flavor Baby Back Ribs: Perfectly cooked between "Gnaw Off the Bone" and "Fall Off the Bone". Very tasty too! Smoked Beans: Full of meat. Rich & flavorful Hatch Mac & Cheese: Loved this. Had a bit of kick. Texas Street Corn: The Pablano Peppers added a lot to it. Excellent Amarillo BBQ is less than 20 minutes from home. We'll have to head back periodically! Update: I ordered one of their sausages to go. Just had it. It was amazing! Woah, this is the driest and most bland meat my family has ever eaten. Texas would be offended. I hope their staff knows the Heimlich, because the chicken is a choking hazard. Brisket - tasteless and chewy. Zero smoke flavor, the bark is mushy and has no crisp. Likely baked, not smoked. Chicken -A serious choking hazard. It's so dry that it creates saw dust when cut with a knife. No flavor, no smoke, drier than desert sand, and rubbery skin. Beef Rib - honestly impressive how chewy it was...I think I'm still chewing on the last bite. It was like beef gum, the bite goes on in perpetuity, until your forced to swallow. Have a chaser ready. The food at Amarillo is really good. I've had the sandwiches as well as the meats standing alone... and everything was great. I've tried the brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and chicken... all were solid. As far as sides go, the okra is really good and imo their best side. The beans are also really tasty. If I could offer a suggestion... I'd love to see some brisket burnt ends somewhere on the menu, even if it's just as a special. Service has also been very good, both here and at their previous Monroe location. Pricing... eh, they are a bit expensive, most sandwiches are in the $17 neighborhood with a side. That feels expensive to me for lunch. I wish they'd throw in a can of cola or something to make that more palatable... or offer a smaller portion. The standalone meats offer better value than the sandwiches, in my opinion. All that said, this is one of the better places in Duvall to stop for lunch or get some takeout for dinner. Very much the bare minimum you could expect of bbq. No standout flavors or seasoning or tenderness. Wait was over 35 minutes, heavily understaffed. The Texas style side for the bbq was 3 slices of plain like out of the bag 99 cent white bread, onions, and no pickles, which was the only part I wanted anyways. The bbq sauces were all sad :( Meat was also very cold. And pretty dry. Oh and really expensive even for bbq. The sides were pretty good. Also super cold.
