To start, the bed and breakfast feels like you stepped out of reality and into the movie "The Holiday." It is cozy, quaint, and quiet in the best way. The rooms are smaller but equipped with what you need. In addition to the ambiance, the breakfast stands out as a highlight. From staying in other BnB's we expected danishes, coffee, etc. They far exceeded those expectations making easily the best quiche I've ever had, apple crumb cake, homemade rhubarb jam and butter and homemade focaccia. I woke up not hungry and ended up eating everything it was so delicious. My only regret of the weekend was booking an early ferry and not being able to enjoy breakfast the second morning. I hope to return one day!

The walking trail on site took you on a nice path along the tree line and the blackberry bushes were taller than me. Rooms were cute and very sound proof, we heard no one else when we were in the room. A cute farm store was there for some basic needs as well. Our hosts Emma and Wiley were so helpful and kind. Thanks for having us. We will return.

It's hard to say what I liked best about our stay at Cayou Cove, so I will list them out : ) First of all, we stayed in the Gardner's Cottage, which is the smallest of the three cottages, but it was amazingly quaint and charming with all the luxuries of home. We brought along our German Shepherd, Zoe, and the owners went out of their way to prepare for her arrival as well. There was a water bowl, dog blanket, dog towel, doggies bags, and a baggie or treats for our pup! This is wonderful place to travel to with your dog! 2. I LOVED the wood burning fireplace. The crackling of the fire, the warmth...it was amazing. We had the fire burning all day. The owners re-supplied us with wood/paper when needed. 3. The hot tub for two out back is amazingly romantic and private. The cottage is tucked away from all the others, so there is plenty of privacy. Because it was rainy the weekend we were there, we used the hot tub quite a bit, and the view was unbelievable. Additionally, there are two chairs and an outdoor fire pit for enjoyment when the weather allows. 4. The cottage is completely stocked with all the amenities of home. For example, the little kitchen has every utensil and supply you could need. Our next trip there I will bring more groceries so we can take advantage of the amazing kitchen more! Also, the bathroom feels straight out of spa. The cottage comes equipped with robes and slippers for two as well! 5. The location!!!! My fiancé, my dog, and I were out exploring most of the day! We loved walking along the beach, eating dinner in town, and relaxing together all day long! The cottage is located right on the water with beach access from each cottage. I highly recommend the cottage for a romantic getaway with a loved one. It was the perfect escape from how busy life can get back in the city! Thank you for your hospitality!

We didn't have time for a riding lesson on this trip, but now we know to set some time aside and will be scheduling a lesson for next time. We had booked their least expensive room, but on our arrival Henri informed us that we'd been upgraded to our own private cottage at no additional charge. The cottage has an open floor plan, like a studio apartment, and came equipped with a full size fridge and gas stove/oven. The kitchen cabinets were well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and even essentials like olive oil, so you could easily prepare your own meal (but I definitely recommend Nicole's!). The living room contained a really lovely chess set and a few other games, as well as DirectTV and a stereo. We had our own private hot tub out on the front porch. We really enjoyed sitting outside and looking out at the pond. The whole environment is so serene. The only sounds are crickets and birds. The main thing that really sold it for us was the amazing hospitality - we felt like family. We were only here for one night, but absolutely fell in love with the place and are sure to return. We rang the bell, looked around, called their number, but could not locate anyone. My wife and I decided to use the time to explore the island. Charles called, he had been out back doing yard work. When we arrived the second time, we were greeted by Charles with an apology and a tour. The home is tidy, eclectic and quirky. Our room was wonderful. Plenty of space, comfortable bed and charming. Another bonus of staying here was the breakfasts. The food is delicious and unexpected. I did not anticipate seared sushi grade tuna or oat pancakes that rival the best buttermilk pancakes. And the beauty of breakfast times is sitting with other guests along with Jill and Charles discussing everything from how it all began at the Kangaroo B&B to activities to do on the island. I have to say, with the exception of the amazing views from Mount Constitution, the water views from almost everywhere on the island and celebrating my wife, this B&B was a highlight of my trip.

My husband had their normal breakfast and said it was amazing. He hates pancakes but said the ones they made were incredible. Additionally they were very friendly and inviting to an LGBTQ+ couple staying there which made me feel safe and welcome. I look forward to going back in the future!

Vanessa, a professional cook and baker, made every meal with her loving care. I'm usually not a breakfast fan, but the homemade apple strudel, granola, scones, and omelets were too much to resist. If you want to feel like you're staying with friends while in Victoria, this is the place to go. Quaint decor, and great hospitality are what you'll find here. We loved their furry/feathered friends, Butler, their cat and two Moroccan Cockatoos, Chucky and Casper! Vanessa and Dean were great about being there when we needed them for info about activities or directions, and also great about not jeopardizing our privacy. We stayed in the lovely Lavender Room for 4 wonderful nights. We really enjoyed having the garden patio at our disposal since the nights were worth sitting out in. We lit some tea lights, and enjoyed some cold beverages by starlight. It is an older house, so there was no A/C and the room could get hot and stuffy during the day, but with the door or window cracked open a bit, and a small fan running, we always got a cool enough ocean breeze at night to keep us happy. There was a TV in the room with cable and a built in DVD player on the side. Down in the entrance in the Harry Potter computer nook we found the internet provided was fast and dependable. Since we are young and wild and had no idea when we would be coming or going at night we were relieved to find that you have your own key code so it wasn't an issue and we didn't disturb the hosts or any other guests. The B&B is within walking distance to many shops, Fisherman's Wharf, and downtown Victoria. Vanessa was an absolute doll and even packed a lunch for us since we had to catch our departing ferry at 6AM and would miss her phenomenal breakfast!! Another fun feature of the bed and breakfast is that they even have a couple friendly spirits in residence. I didn't experience them myself, but I love hearing ghost tales about old buildings. A thousand kudos to this lovely B&B! Our stay was worth every cent and more!

Vanessa and Dale are amazing hosts and run the best B&B I have ever been to. The room was clean, quite, and beautiful, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and having a small TV with cable was a nice feature usually lacking in B&B's. Wireless Internet worked perfectly and was very handy. They also had a guest computer in the main area available for use 24/7. The hotel is in a great location if you don't mind a short (8 min) walk to the inner harbor. Parking was no problem, and it is in a VERY safe neighborhood, which was nice to walk in at any time of the day. Vanessa is an AMAZING chef, her breakfasts were perfectly prepared and seasoned, pray that you get a day where she is making Eggs Benedict, which was some of the best I have ever had. The omelets were incredible, and the home-made granola was a real treat! Have Vanessa hand draw you a map of a fun drive! We went to Sooke, which was not much of a town, but had a nice little beach on a man made breaker that was a good little get-away from the city. In order to deal with Covid19, Riley has an ozone machine that runs for two hours to clean the rooms.' The cleaning wasn't done when we arrived (check in time is 3pm, we arrived slightly after that), so we wandered the far. We got to hold a chicken and pet a rooster, and then we tasted a few lovely ripe tomatoes from the greenhouse. We were excited to see a fig tree, although none of the fruits were ripe. The farmhouse was perfect for us as a couple. Lovely comfortable bedroom, mattress and pillows, with thick and soft sheets. The bathroom was large. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking. We made pizza and plum jam while we were there. The farm eggs were great, as was the local yogurt and bacon, Dave's organic bread, and freshly roasted coffee. We didn't get any jam or granola (which we read about in other reviews), but we made our own. We loved being able to explore the garden. The kale was sweet and the basil was fragrant! Things to note: I had been really excited about the "soaking tub" but it was a little grimy on the sides. Though I suspect it was because the water there is hard, and I didn't feel comfortable filling the tub to soak in. I had also expected the pizza kit to be a rolled out pizza dough that you just put topping onto. What we got was pizza dough that needed to be rolled/tossed/shaped. The pizza oven also came with minimal instructions so we had to text Riley about it and then google how to make pizza. (450F, precook the crust, then cook the crust with ingredients). The pizza was very good though. We loved the black garlic and the tomato sauce. Riley was generous about sharing the bounty of the land (and sea!) with us, and we loved his hospitality.

The San Juans are a unique corner of America that few, even locals, get to see. While you can take a ferry to a few of the major islands, most of them are accessible only by private boat. Sailing through the San Juans feels like something out of a by-gone era - remote islands, lovely old resorts, quaint towns, and (thanks to Skipper Brendan's local knowledge) hidden bays and lots sunsets all to yourself! It's an amazing way to see these islands. Brendan is not only a fantastic skipper, but a really wonderful person who makes sure everyone aboard is comfortable, happy and having a great time. He grew up in Washington and knows so many fun facts about the islands, local spots and was obviously stoked to be able to share a place he loves with us. The boat is lovely. The staterooms are very comfortable and each has its own head (bathroom!) so there is a surprising amount of personal space. Chef Jess cooked up amazing food all week long. There is also lots of deck space so you can spread out and take advantage of the sun, nap on deck, or just sit and watch the scenery with a glass of wine! I really can't say enough good things about the whole experience. Thanks for making this trip all-time! We will be recommending it to friends and family, Cheers!

Brendan our Captain was incredibly knowledgeable about the islands and kept us informed each day as to what our options were. Bri our Chef and the person that really ran the boat turned out the most delicious and unique meals every day in addition to attending to her other duties. Brendan and Bri are truly the nicest and most accommodating people I have ever met! I highly recommend this charter to everyone!

AMAZING!!! WONDERFUL!!! PERFECT FOR A ROMANTIC OCCASION!!! What an amazing weekend!! I took my boyfriend out to Friday Harbor for his birthday and a surprise proposal. Everyone at Inn To The Woods went above and beyond to make this one of the most magical moments of our lives!! It just took a little bit of planning on my end but I can tell that they spent a lot of time/energy to make everything perfect for us!! To start off, the Forest room was absolutely perfect for this magical weekend!!! They set up the room with candles and rose petals that I ordered off of Amazon and had them delivered there. They offered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and lavender candle both made locally. I originally wanted the Amazon candles to spell out "will you marry me?" but unfortunately there was not enough space to make it look good so they offered to make a sign that spelt out "will you marry me?" and hung it from the four post bed. I was so impressed that they took the time to do that and thank you so much!!! I also told them to keep the sign for any future to-be engaged couples and just ask them about it!! Even beyond that, the outdoor private hot tub was the icing on the cake, complete with floating candles in the basins that flanked the hot tub. Once completing a soak, the jets continued in the indoor jacuzzi to rinse off the chemicals from the hot tub!!! So romantic, if you don't mind cuddling your significant other in a tub made for one. Everything was thought of even down to the little details, like the towel heater that made your bath robes and towels nice and warm for post soaks and showers, the cutest knickknacks and furniture that adorned the room, the impeccable views of the lake as you woke up, all just amazing!! Now that I've gone on about the Bed let's move on to the Breakfast!! Oh my god!! They offered for it to be delivered to the room or we could eat with the other guests in the common areas but we opted to hunker down and have private breakfasts in our robes. At 9:00 we woke up to fresh French press coffee/tea, delicious tropical juice, and all the fixings for breakfast (everything that you could imagine) sitting at our door. After bringing that in they served a traditional but delicious breakfast on the cuties tea set and dish ware. On the second day, the breakfast was even better!! That being my new fiancé's birthday, they adorned the breakfast with birthday balloons, local pastries & chocolates, and a music box that played happy birthday. The breakfast was some of the best French toast that I have ever had, with hints of orange and vanilla!! Oh and let's not forget about the personalized puppy care basket!! It had blankets, food/water bowls, treats, and puppy poopoo bags. They really did think of everything!!! I can't thank the family at Inn To The Woods enough!! They did such an amazing job and made this a memory that will last a lifetime!!! Thanks again and I know we will be back for our next adventure to Friday Harbor!! read more

Our host very kindly offered to pick up things for us when it snowed, but it's only about a mile walk into town, so we found it pretty easy to pick up provisions at the excellent Co-Op and Bakery San Juan. There are so many great hikes on the island, but having a day to watch the snow fall, read, and drink tea, was just what I needed--along with watching the bald eagles nesting. What a special place!

They do have a family/tv room, but we never felt the need to turn it on. Location cannot be beat. It is literally steps from the harbor, and you can step right off of your boat, the ferry or the seaplane. Check-in and quick and easy. I stayed in Sweet 1 which is the 1st room up the stairs. So convenient to going everywhere. Room is super spacious and everything was comfortable. Nice touch with the welcome fruit bowl. Bath was also spacious and toiletries were well-stocked and great quality (all Malin+Goetz!). Super close to restaurants, bars, and the town, where parking is difficult (so being able to walk was a big perk!). Only negatives (and they were very minor) were the missing water and coffeemaker in the room, and the difficulty in understanding the instructions for the shower head.

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

We were given the San Juan Suite. What WONDERFUL accommodations! The suite has two full bedrooms and a small room with a double bed on the renovated side porch (I chose that room, because of all the windows), two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and deck with a private jacuzzi! WOW!! I felt so pampered! Every morning, Gene brought breakfast to us in bento boxes, and everything was so yummy! My favorite was the poached egg and Canadian bacon with tomato and baby asparagus on thick toast, accompanied by granola and peaches with yogurt. We had ordered milk and orange juice for breakfast, and when we arrived found that the refrigerator was stocked with a fresh quart of each for us. There was also ground coffee for the coffeemaker and a fine selection of teas. We dined well! The furnishings in the suite are elegant and retro without being dated, while the kitchen and bathrooms are completely modern. Even with four people, we felt that there was ample space for us all. Our beds were all quite comfortable, and the temperature controls could be adjusted room by room so that each of us were guaranteed a pleasant sleep. The grounds around our lodging were gorgeously landscaped and beautifully maintained. It was wonderful to wake up in the midst of loveliness every morning! The Inn & Suites are just a few blocks from downtown Friday Harbor and the ferry landing, so we were able to easily walk to all the local attractions, shopping, and restaurants. That was a hidden benefit because parking downtown was often scarce. To say our stay in the San Juan Suite was idyllic would be an understatement. It made a wonderful vacation even more wonderful by giving us a place to return to and relax in comfort and elegance. I am DEFINITELY returning to the Tucker House Inn & Harrison House Suites! There's a full kitchen, very well equipped, and a comfortable living room. It's all very cozy and home-like in a historic house. We could walk downtown within minutes. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We hope to return soon!

She was very gracious and showed us around plus, she showed us little special items that she had for us on arrival which included cookies for my wife and I a nondairy cupcake for my daughter and two pet friendly cupcakes for our puppy. How cool is that? They put a lot of thought into the design of this place and it is truly a wonderful bed-and-breakfast situation. All the little details have been thawed out from the entryway right to the bathroom. We are in Friday Harbor Friday. Harbor has a reputation and it is not inexpensive to be in this area so don't be surprised by price stickers if you shop around. You get what you pay for here they give you a lot of class along with a good product. I would like to stay longer if I could, but our time is limited and we have to go home and the weather has been perfect.

They emailed to cancel our reservation. If the 3-night minimum had been a condition listed in the booking, we would understand. But it wasn't. When we told them it's not written anywhere and they had already accepted our booking, they changed their strategy and said they now (suddenly) can't rent the room we want due to CoVid. (Even though it's still posted as available). They blame the county health dept. we were unable to find any information about this restriction and still can't find a place (other than their email after we booked) that lists a three night minimum. Although they were cordial about it, I can't recommend doing business with them, since they change their policies at random. Hard to plan a trip when it seems like they will cancel your reservation to chase a bigger check.

Laura owns and runs the B&B and she is so kind and an amazing cook! She cooked us two of the best, most delicious breakfasts I have ever eaten. Her berry stuffed pancakes with her grandmother's special cream syrup is absolutely delicious!! My husband and I highly recommend a couple of nights on the boat. It's an adventure and out if the ordinary. Laura is a great hostess and you will have a memory that will last a lifetime.

I can't say enough about how they made everything so easy and pleasant. The hotel itself is at once a charming relic, a fun house and a rare gem! Don't expect modern 5-star accommodations this is no Ritz Carlton; thank goodness! That would ruin the village and the experience. The village is also charming, gracious and welcoming. Go, relax and chill leave the rest of the world behind you! It's worth the effort to get there which should be considered a leisurely adventure.
