We can't say enough about how great this place was to stay. We had the Arbor room, which was a bit more private than the others, but they all seemed excellent. We loved the hot tub, the breakfasts, the dogs, and the welcoming people. We were celebrating our 10-year anniversary and it was perfect. The view was exceptional and if we had not booked a kayak camping trip we'd have stayed longer. We had to leave early our last day and they gave us breakfast to go! Highly recommend! read more

This inn was very nice! The couple was attentive and thoughtful - The internet password was given to us but also listed in the room (and it worked well!), the lavender bath products from the lavender farm were wonderful, there were towels for after the jacuzzi, there were much appreciated luggage racks, there was a mini fridge which was nice, - i wish the bed had been more firm but that is only a preference ! My boyfriend booked this for my birthday a few weeks ago. We stayed 2 nights in a king bed room. Other than the room being a bit small, the experience was 5 stars, minus a major hiccup. We were unfortunate to be there when the water pump for the property broke on our second evening. We had been out cycling all day and desperately needed showers. So this meant no showers, no toilet, no hand washing, etc. etc. They gave us a pitcher of water so we could brush our teeth and a bucket of water to do 1 toilet flush. They were super nice and apologetic. They gave us a bottle of wine and a few pieces of nice soap as a consolation. That's the disappointment and why I knocked them down to 2 stars (it would have been a 1 star had the rest of the experience note been so nice). I know this was an unexpected event. And they should have refunded part of the not-inconsequential price for that night or offered a discount on a future stay. A bottle of wine did not change the fact that I went home from my birthday weekend filthy and dying for a bathroom visit. Running water is expected when you've spent $500 a night for a room. read more

We enjoyed our stay at this quaint B & B on San Juan Island! Jamie and Nancy were very friendly and pleasant. We stayed in a very cozy suite, The Arbor room separated from the rest of the guests. Our space had everything we needed to make for a wonderful stay including a private bathroom with tub and toiletries. There was acute nook with coffee, tea,water and mugs, glasses and wine glasses. They thought of every little yet important detail!! We had a private deck with our own hot tub. We had two small dachshunds with us and they had a nice dog basket with bowls, treats, towels, everything we needed for them and so very convenient. The breakfasts were delicious and healthy and we loved the french pressed locally roasted coffee. We will definitely come again and recommend this sweet B & B to family and friends! This B&B is simply outstanding. They have four rooms/suites in a building separate from the one that the owners live in, so privacy is assured. I stayed in the Marilyn Suite a few years ago, and we're going back in less than two weeks! This room has a gorgeous and really comfy king-size bed, nice TV with satellite reception and a huge loaner DVD library, lots of room to store your things, gourmet chocolates in your room... but where it gets really special is in the bathroom and on the deck. The bathroom has both a shower and a huge jetted tub, and the deck is completely private and has a large hot tub, perfect for those afternoon or late-night soaks under the stars. Oversize towels and plush robes are abundant and everything is absolutely spotlessly clean. From the first greeting until your departure, owners Patrick and Nancy are welcoming without being in your face. They provide afternoon and evening homemade baked goods, popcorn and other snacks, and free beverages whenever you like them. Breakfast is delicious and features organic and local foods... let them know about dietary restrictions ahead of time and they will go out of their way for you, which is so nice (and they won't make a big production out of your special meal, either, so you won't be embarrassed). The other guests were friendly and the place is never overcrowded, since they have a max of 8 guests at any one time. I think the weekend we're going, the 16th/17th, we'll have the place to ourselves.... This inn is situated on five acres just four miles from the Friday Harbor ferry landing, so you have the best of both worlds, with close-in convenience and feeling like you're completely in the country.. it's so QUIET there. :-) And there's very little light pollution, if you like to stargaze. Patrick especially was wonderful about suggesting things to do and places to go, and Nancy packed us a simple but delicious lunch... it's those sweet personal touches, and local expertise, that make staying in a B&B more like visiting with friends than staying in an anonymous hotel.... though they are expert about disappearing into the background if you don't want to hang out (and yes, at other places, I have sometimes suffered through the over-solicitous/lonely innkeeper... these folks are brilliant at reading your cues for privacy!) I've been to all the San Juans now, and San Juan Island is actually my favorite. It seems the friendliest, and there's definitely more to do on this island than the others. I'll never go back to Lopez -- the "friendly island" -- sure, everyone waves, but there wasn't a single INCH of public beach access to be found! San Juan Island has lots, in state parks and other places where it's OK to just wander, and that's what I like. There's a pair of trumpeter swans that lives here for part of the year... they are back now and I can't wait to see them. It makes you feel like you're living a fairytale existence, to be sure, to just look out your bedroom window and see these glorious birds. read more

True to its name, this B&B is located in the woods, in a secluded spot on the San Juan island. It is an ideal spot for any kind of getaway you're looking for. Our room was called the Nautical and our friends stayed at the Lakeview room. We really enjoyed our stay over here and it was very comfortable. The bath was not attached to our room but the area was still completely private to us. The Nautical room came with a deck which had a hot tub. The owner was very personable and he prepared for us a great breakfast after carefully taking into account all our dietary habits and restrictions. The breakfast was delightfully laid out on a large dining table for the guests at 9 am. Awesome coffee and a delectable selection of tea flavors as well, I must add. The room, the bath, just about everything in this inn was filled with those numerous personal touches such as Hershey's Kisses near the bed, a tiny whale stuffed toy on the bed, bath robes and so on that made the stay a truly memorable experience. read more

I am all about the details! We stayed (2) nights during the week and had the run of the main house. There was another awesome couple in the adjoining house that we only saw at morning coffee and breakfast. We stayed in the Salal Room that had a king size bath, private bath and awesome private hot tub, this alone accounted for the majority of the stars. We arrived with classical music playing in our room. The hot tub was ready to go and there were wine glasses in the common room for our bottle of wine that we picked up on the way. After a brief tour, wi-fi instructions and wonderful advice on dinner, our innkeeper, Patrick, disappeared. Breakfasts were well though out, delicious and precisely on time...this is huge for a OCD planner like myself. Patrick anticipated our every need. He noticed a bottle of gin that we picked up in town, a jigger, a knife and cutting board, napkins and glasses appeared in our room. We bought some strawberries and champagne for a private celebration, a ice bucket, flutes and bowl appeared. Now, this place was above average costing, I would even venture to say expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. High thread count sheets, fluffy pillows, an extensive variety of coffee and tea, fluffy bath robes, thick towels, brownies!, delicious breakfasts, chocolates in your room, invigorating soaps and shampoos and a hot tub waiting for you when you got back from your day's adventure made it all worth it. The innkeeper and staff at Inn to the Woods take care of their Inn and its visitors with equal amounts of love, kindness, and joy. This beautiful B&B is tucked into the forest just miles from Friday Harbor, but feels like you have taken a step out of time. Our room, The Salal, with its bay window view of the forest; and the porch for two with steps into the same trees, was cozy, charming, and equipped with everything needed for comfort and ease. (And don't forget the skylights with views into the treetops of the pines.) The common area has a whole wall of books to read - there are games on the tables, a cabinet of nibbles and drinks. And breakfast on the patio? Oh. My. The tea list rivals many wine lists, and the coffee is island roasted just across the lake. Our meal of Dutch babies, sausage and fruit was scrumptious from start to finish. If it sounds like I've been kidnapped by fairies, well, it feels that way. I never want to leave! And I cannot wait to come back. So many more than 5 bright stars for this lovely place! I cannot recommend it highly enough. read more

Stayed here in the Forest room. GREAT choice, cute B&B. The Forest room is big and has a nice bathroom. The biggest perk though is the private hot tub off the room. The bathroom has a hairdryer and has the usual toiletries, in case anyone is wondering (I always wonder that before I go to a place). Bed very comfortable. I love the innkeepers have animals, I enjoyed petting the friendly white cat that resides there. The price for this place is AMAZING, half the cost of any similar hotel room in Friday Harbor. Come stay here, you will not regret it. The breakfasts in the morning are awesome! read more

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday night, 1/30 - 1/31. I don't get (m)any days off, so when I got a day to spend with my husband, my #1 idea for a getaway was the San Juans. And man, am I glad I stayed here at Patrick's BnB. In planning our getaway trip, our usual place was closed for repairs, so we compared about 6 different places. This included some $$$ places in downtown Friday Harbor, a couple BnBs on San Juan Island, and a BnB on Lopez. The $$$ places were too expensive, with not much for amenities, and the other BnBs didn't actually answer the phone ?. But Patrick answered on the first ring. On to the stay: Warm, Cozy, Comfortable. A true getaway in a place that felt like home. We stayed in the Slalah? King bed room, and loved the room so much - and not just because we were swimming in pillows (we love pillows). The space really felt like ours. We could go enjoy the hot tub from our private entrance, stare up at the starry sky and not hear anything but the water. Or pad out in our PJs and slippers to make tea and coffee at midnight, curling up on the couch with one of the many books from the bookcase. It was quiet, it was warm, and no cell service meant that I wasn't thinking about anything but the book I was reading, and where the cute little stirrers that matched the mugs came from. There were other couples staying in the house, but it was so quiet and peaceful that we felt like we were alone. But by the next morning, with the light coming through the big windows in the living room, and all of us hanging out on the couches waiting for Patrick to finish breakfast, it was like we were all roomies just relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Also, breakfast was fantastic. The charming/quirky feel of the rest of the house carried over into the meal - lots of special touches from the place settings, to the meal. Buckwheat pancakes, maple syrup in a glass, upside down butter, and orange juice that looked like Tang but was actually some sort of mango juice. Hah! When I get another day off and plan for the San Juans, Inn to the Woods is the only place I'm calling! read more

SO glad we stayed here!! Affordable, comfortable, and enchanting. My girlfriend and I loved the room, the breakfast, and everything that Inn To The Woods had to offer during our trip to Friday Harbor. We stayed two nights in the lakeview room, and felt instantly relaxed and comfortable upon settling in to it. The innkeeper was gracious, provided wonderfully for our stay, and his breakfast was outstanding on both days. We found pleasure in the details here. In contrast to a barren motel room, Inn To The Woods maintains a comforting B&B feel and is adorned with splendid little trinkets, art, photographs, and ornaments that give personality and character to the rooms. The bed had the perfect size and feel, the bathroom and shower were just right, comfortable, and gave us room to feel right at home, and the TV/DVD system was easy to use and well-functioning. B&B, the most comfortable bed, and a great breakfast. King size bed, direct TV, private bathroom, private hot tub overlooking the woods and the lake. The great room is complete with ice, water coffee, and tea. Plenty of chairs and couches. Very larger deck overlooking the lake. WANT A PLACE TO "CHILL" LOOK NO FUTHER". It was truly a special experience spending 4 nights at this cozy inn. First off, the breakfast there was better than most of the restaurants we tried in the island; they had real food with a lot of variety such as French toast, quiche, etc with organic fruits. The family members who are running the place were so friendly and sweet. We were initially surprised that our room was part of a house, but we didn't hear any noise from other rooms including any TV sounds. They had a ton of local quality items like organic shampoo and soap, etc. as well as items that local artists made. They also had a real fire stove running all day and had cute candles every morning. We tried their jacuzzi and bath tab, and things were super clean and comfortable. They were also welcoming dogs and they gave us a care package for dogs such as dog dishes and blankets. We highly recommend this place to stay for a vacation! read more

What a great place to stay! I came here with my boyfriend in the "off season" for an affordable weekend getaway. Neither of us had been to a b&b before, so we weren't sure what to expect. When we arrived, we were both impressed by the grounds. A beautiful, secluded area, the main house was tucked away from the road, which made it nice and quiet. Plus, the innkeeper, Patrick, was very friendly and helpful whenever we needed him. Yet, he still respected our privacy and made himself scarce at all the right times, which was just wonderful! We stayed in the "Lakeview" room, which was perfectly quaint. It was all we needed: a cozy bed, an easy-to-use TV/dvd system, and a good sized private bath. And the attention to detail was delightful! Fluffy clean robes and towels, lightly scented soaps in the bathroom, gorgeous artwork, Hershey's kisses on the nightstand...even a cute little stuffed duck to go with the subtle lake-theme of the room! Plus, the inn's common room was equipped with information about the island, a fancy single-cup Keurig coffeemaker, a mini fridge, comfy couches, and a nice porch for warmer seasons. We were very pleased! And the breakfast! I have a lot of allergies and Patrick still managed to make me a delicious breakfast both days we stayed. I was especially impressed by the gluten-free cornbread and waffles! MUCH better than most restaurant breakfasts I've had, especially since I'm allergic to common breakfast foods like gluten and eggs. This was a great first-time stay at a b&b for us! I usually research the places when we go on trips, and my biggest concern is safety and cleanliness. Inn to the Woods exceeded my expectations on both fronts. Such a romantic and quiet b&b to stay at. Patrick was a wonderful host. He is an excellent cook with breakfasts ranging from quiche with roasted potatoes, fresh baked muffins, and fresh fruit to french toast yummy! He even accommodated for my vegetarianism :) Also, expect fresh baked mind blowing brownies if you stay here everyday in the afternoon. Absolutely fabulous B&B. We booked the room that is in a separate house with no other guests (the owners live on the other half of the house, but the two halves are literally walled off and must be sounds proof, because in addition to never seeing them - the two areas literally do not connect to one another, separate entrances, the whole shebang - we never heard them either). If you want privacy, go this route. The hubby and I LOVE B&Bs but are uncomfortable sometimes with the lack of privacy. This is the perfect solution. The private whirlpool on the balcony is amazing. We spent a nice little chunk of time out there relaxing, sipping some wine, and unwinding. There is a TV in the room, but if you are going to a B&B to watch TV, you're doing it right. There is wifi, but there is no cell signal. My philosophy is that you go to a B&B to unplug, so this didn't bother me at all. The inn keepers are polite and helpful if you need assistance, but are respectful of your privacy and leave you alone unless you seek them out. If we're ever on the San Juan Islands again, we will definitely be coming back. read more

Although the Jacuzzi was very private and decor nice, the host's breakfast not only fell short but was completely misrepresented in all ads and reviews. We read ON THEIR SITE of "bountiful breakfasts, coffee made from beans roasted for us by Caffe San Juan, recipes of the former Bright Star Kitchen - swiss cheese and sweet onion frittata" We were the ONLY guests, yet they still yelled from the hallway that our breakfast was served like some kind of cattle call. Again on their site, " but if you're getting an early start on your day, or want to sleep late, let the Innkeeper know in advance and we'll make arrangements" We knew breakfast was at 9:00 and it would of been nice if they would of waited a few extra minutes (again we were the only ones there) and prepared our food so we might of had it hot. A few minuets later when we arrived to our plated dishes ( no consideration on quantities ) it was 3 waffles, a few small slices of fruit and 2 premade small sausages patties. Which had to be prepared in the microwaved due to the rubbery texture. It would have been nice to have a choice of more fruit and less waffles etc. It was cold, they had no consideration or accommodating/pampering nature. When we asked for something other than their plain syrup for our plain waffles we were informed they had none. One small glass of orange juice was served that was very sour and clearly had turned. No coffee, milk or other juices were offered. On their breakfast page they have a photo of a muffin and advertise on different sites about their HOMEMADE muffins. We saw none. No toast or biscuits, plain waffles and Jimmy Dean baby microwaved sausage patties. Needless to say we were more than disappointed in the misrepresentation and would have had a better breakfast at home or in a restaurant, completely negating the "breakfast" part of a B&B. In a B&B brochure they advertise a bountiful supply of HOME MADE brownies, we saw none. We have experienced several B&B's and the level of customer service for their breakfast in comparison to their advertised one failed completely. We were looking forward to a morning read on their advertised, "relax on the deck looking through the trees at Sportsman Lake" It was completely littered with debris and we were UNABLE to even sit down. So if your looking for a private Jacuzzi, tiny TV, dirty porches and horrible breakfast - this is your place! read more
