How cool is that? They put a lot of thought into the design of this place and it is truly a wonderful bed-and-breakfast situation. All the little details have been thawed out from the entryway right to the bathroom. We are in Friday Harbor Friday. Harbor has a reputation and it is not inexpensive to be in this area so don't be surprised by price stickers if you shop around. You get what you pay for here they give you a lot of class along with a good product. I would like to stay longer if I could, but our time is limited and we have to go home and the weather has been perfect.

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

We never used the jacuzzi but playing table tennis and cornhole and even badminton (although we had to use the volleyball court for badminton). The rooms were tastefully decorated and well stocked with vital supplies. The best part of staying at Discovery Inn, however, has to be the people working there. We were so impressed with Mel just talking with her and making our reservation. And what a delight to discover that she was even more gracious and kind and knowledgeable about the island and where to go in person. And everyone we met at the Inn was just as nice and accommodating. We can't imagine finding a better spot to stay when vacationing on San Juan Island.

We were given the San Juan Suite. What WONDERFUL accommodations! The suite has two full bedrooms and a small room with a double bed on the renovated side porch (I chose that room, because of all the windows), two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and deck with a private jacuzzi! WOW!! I felt so pampered! Every morning, Gene brought breakfast to us in bento boxes, and everything was so yummy! My favorite was the poached egg and Canadian bacon with tomato and baby asparagus on thick toast, accompanied by granola and peaches with yogurt. We had ordered milk and orange juice for breakfast, and when we arrived found that the refrigerator was stocked with a fresh quart of each for us. There was also ground coffee for the coffeemaker and a fine selection of teas. We dined well! The furnishings in the suite are elegant and retro without being dated, while the kitchen and bathrooms are completely modern. Even with four people, we felt that there was ample space for us all. Our beds were all quite comfortable, and the temperature controls could be adjusted room by room so that each of us were guaranteed a pleasant sleep. The grounds around our lodging were gorgeously landscaped and beautifully maintained. It was wonderful to wake up in the midst of loveliness every morning! The Inn & Suites are just a few blocks from downtown Friday Harbor and the ferry landing, so we were able to easily walk to all the local attractions, shopping, and restaurants. That was a hidden benefit because parking downtown was often scarce. To say our stay in the San Juan Suite was idyllic would be an understatement. It made a wonderful vacation even more wonderful by giving us a place to return to and relax in comfort and elegance. I am DEFINITELY returning to the Tucker House Inn & Harrison House Suites! This suite…read morehas a view of the bay, with the ferries coming and going, and other windows that look out into the tree tops. There's a full kitchen, very well equipped, and a comfortable living room. It's all very cozy and home-like in a historic house. We could walk downtown within minutes. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We hope to return soon!

Beautiful spot on Orcas Island -- peaceful, unique, and worth the visit…read more Leona at the front desk was absolutely wonderful, truly a blessing and such a welcoming presence from the moment we arrived. The hot springs are my favorite part and the main reason I came back. My friends and I booked a private soak ($150 for 1.5 hours), which was well worth it. If you stay overnight, you can also do a group soak for $20. The hot springs are clothing optional, and during the group soak most people were nude. It was a bit crowded, but still fun and a memorable experience -- especially if you're open to something new. The room itself was a little cold, but thankfully it had a wood-fired stove (and one of us actually knew how to use it). Beds were comfy, and the bathrooms are a short walk away since they aren't in the rooms. Overall, such a special place -- I'd definitely come back again.

This is a beautiful quaint little family run oasis on Mitchell Bay. There are hotel style rooms, and private cabins. We stayed in a private cabin on the waterfront for our anniversary this year. The cabins are stunning. Everything was super clean. You have a full kitchen and appliances should you want to cook, even equipped with a BBQ outside! There's a small living space, and the bathroom felt like a luxury spa! The shower had pebbled floorings which were so nice. The bedroom was cozy and comfortable and not to mention pitch black which was amazing for sleep! We slept with all windows open at night and slept great with the cool air and again I can't stress enough how quiet the property is. My favorite part is the windows at the front looking at the water and the little sitting nook by the kitchen. I sat there or in the chairs out front for most of our trip just admiring the water and stillness. So pretty! There's a little greenery area for sitting, play lawn games, or fire pits for smores. They also have kayaks and paddle boards for use during the day which was a nice amenity. They also have a general store and coffee shop on property with everything you might need. My favorite part is their water system that's fully treated and maintained by them. Because of it the shower water is so soft and serene, and the drinking water is amazing straight from the tap! This was a 10/10 stay from top to bottom, and we already can't wait to come back!

Check-in was done at the lobby. At the lobby one will also find a store and a coffee shop. Complimentary movies and games can also be checked out at the lobby to enjoy back at your lodging. The store offers a little bit of everything, from clothing to snacks. Complimentary ice machines are available. Bagged ice can be purchased though. Lower-level parking is limited and was completely full in the evenings. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot every time we returned from playing. Wheel barrel type carts located at the gate make transporting luggage effortless to rooms. Adirondack chairs are scattered about the edge of the property to enjoy sipping a beverage, reading or admiring the view. A fire-pit, community BBQ, picnic area and kids play area help pass the time while on-site. The paly area is at the lobby end for those who do not wish to have quarters near noise. The cabin we were given was number 10, a handicap unit. The very first cabin upon entrance and the furthest from the lobby and play area. Our cabin was clean and well equipped. Snug Harbor provided us the peace that we were seeking at the time. My one suggestion would be to offer fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby to establish a more personal touch.

I would have preferred a new bar of soap to a large bottle of body wash in the shower, but that may be personal preference. -Location, location, location. We walked everywhere in town except one day; there was a car rental place within walking distance & we were able to explore the rest of the island. There is no denying that the Courtyard Suites have a fantastic location! -The owner allowed us to store our luggage in the suite before check-in time as the Clipper arrived very early in the morning. She provided the same courtesy during the day we checked out. This was much appreciated. Cons: -I hardly slept well at all during our 4 night stay here. -There is a trash dumpster right outside the window by the bed. Three of the four mornings, a loud truck came & emptied the dumpster before 7 a.m. It's possible one of the trucks was a fuel truck as well, I was too tired to look out the window. There was no way to sleep through this racket. -We attempted to keep the windows open to allow a breeze at night since there is no AC. The suite has casement windows that swing out, with mini blinds for privacy. Whenever the breeze came through the windows, the blinds would bang against the window frames. Several nights my husband & I couldn't sleep from the blinds banging, & ended up having to be hot with no cross ventilation just to stop the noise. -By the time tax was added & $12/night for my son to sleep on the futon, it ended up being pricier than we expected at $255 per night. Overall I would recommend the Courtyard Suites, especially if you are a heavy sleeper!

The host was accommodating for our late arrival, which was nice. The neat part was the balcony overlooking the street during the day and evening. The downside is we visited during a hot spell. There is no A/C; major bummer. There was one portable fan but insufficient for all three sleeping areas. Late night and/or early morning there are some loud trucks (trash?) that pass through; they will briefly wake you. The coffee pot pours water through before it's heated. If you have multiple guests, a mirror would be nice outside the bathroom. Why four stars? I would stay here again, and be prepared for the inconveniences. I love the location. There are restaurants, literally next-door, and across the street and all the great shops are within walking distance.
