We live a very stressful life and needed a little time away to reconnect and destress and I'm so happy we happened upon Saturn's Return. They welcomed us with open arms (though we were very late after our whale tour). Our room was so cozy, simple, and beautiful. We enjoyed reading as a couple with a bottle of wine over candlelight. And honestly, we both had the best sleep we've had in years (helps we didn't have our toddlers with us) but also, it's just such a peaceful environment. Breakfast was prepared for us and it was absolutely delicious. We then took a trek around the property and I got to overcome my long founded fear of chickens and even collect some eggs from them. Being able to breathe in fresh air and hear the birds was so calming and therapeutic to us and we're just so thankful this place exists. Hope to bring our boys up with us next time to take in more of the experience.

We had a friend's wedding on San Juan island so a bunch of us rented rooms at Saturn's Return for the weekend. Everything about the stay was perfect! The grounds were beautiful and we really enjoyed the walking path and picking delicious blackberries. The breakfasts each morning were spectacular. I really cannot recommend this place enough, Emma and Wiley were such kind and thoughtful hosts.

Westcott Bay Shellfish Company - Panzanella salad - special ($20) on Aug 15, 2026

The missus and I arrived at 1120am (they open at 11) without a reservation after stumbling off…read more(walk-on) the Anacortes ferry at the Friday Harbor stop, and then walking 15 min to M&W rentals to get a car, before taking 20 min to drive here. There's a decent clip of parking out front, but fair warning - you do have to walk from the car to get to the front. Despite not having a reservation they made it work - hooray! We ordered a dozen of the little olys (only oyster local to WA state), the special salad they had that day, and the bread with sardines and salmon spread. We also got a grilled oyster sampler platter. For drinks, missus ordered the lemonade and I ordered an Arnold Palmer. The bread and oysters came super fast - like within 10 min of us ordering. The panzanella salad ($20 special) was the highlight for missus and myself. For oysters, the little olys were disappointing, salmon dip was really good, as were the anchovies (we got more bread too). We also ordered a half dozen oysters of the high beach sweets since everything was awesome so far. The service staff here are excellent. They checked on us often, cleared plates when things got full, and never over pressured for ordering or timing. We basically finished ordering and eating within an hour. The ambiance is incredible - you have a beautiful water view. If you don't like views, don't come here! The only downside here is the price (which makes sense). Everything priced on its own felt reasonable, but altogether the portion sizing (Olys were a good example) is a bit small, as was the panzanella salad (which makes sense, but also for $20...?). The high beach sweet oysters were definitely better value - for size and cost reasons. Overall a great meal, decent vibes, and a nice view.

This is a beautiful quaint little family run oasis on Mitchell Bay. There are hotel style rooms, and private cabins. We stayed in a private cabin on the waterfront for our anniversary this year. The cabins are stunning. Everything was super clean. You have a full kitchen and appliances should you want to cook, even equipped with a BBQ outside! There's a small living space, and the bathroom felt like a luxury spa! The shower had pebbled floorings which were so nice. The bedroom was cozy and comfortable and not to mention pitch black which was amazing for sleep! We slept with all windows open at night and slept great with the cool air and again I can't stress enough how quiet the property is. My favorite part is the windows at the front looking at the water and the little sitting nook by the kitchen. I sat there or in the chairs out front for most of our trip just admiring the water and stillness. So pretty! There's a little greenery area for sitting, play lawn games, or fire pits for smores. They also have kayaks and paddle boards for use during the day which was a nice amenity. They also have a general store and coffee shop on property with everything you might need. My favorite part is their water system that's fully treated and maintained by them. Because of it the shower water is so soft and serene, and the drinking water is amazing straight from the tap! This was a 10/10 stay from top to bottom, and we already can't wait to come back!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Snug Harbor Resort while visiting Friday Harbor…read more We reserved a one-bedroom waterfront cabin seamlessly online. Our total cost was $607.19. Check-in was done at the lobby. At the lobby one will also find a store and a coffee shop. Complimentary movies and games can also be checked out at the lobby to enjoy back at your lodging. The store offers a little bit of everything, from clothing to snacks. Complimentary ice machines are available. Bagged ice can be purchased though. Lower-level parking is limited and was completely full in the evenings. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot every time we returned from playing. Wheel barrel type carts located at the gate make transporting luggage effortless to rooms. Adirondack chairs are scattered about the edge of the property to enjoy sipping a beverage, reading or admiring the view. A fire-pit, community BBQ, picnic area and kids play area help pass the time while on-site. The paly area is at the lobby end for those who do not wish to have quarters near noise. The cabin we were given was number 10, a handicap unit. The very first cabin upon entrance and the furthest from the lobby and play area. Our cabin was clean and well equipped. Snug Harbor provided us the peace that we were seeking at the time. My one suggestion would be to offer fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby to establish a more personal touch.
