To say I'm impressed is an understatement! I have always taken my dogs to a different vet for years- this vet started to feel less personal and more for profit so I started looking elsewhere. Now this vet isn't as close to home but they came with glowing recommendations from everyone I talked to. Everyone was right. First time in I was absolutely mind blow at how thorough they were giving my puppy her first exam. She a doodle and she's VERY doodley! They checked everything and asked me a million questions they gave me recommendations based on what I told them but didn't pressure me to do anything. I felt like they really cared. Fast forward to today- I also have an OLD Yorkie. He's my baby. He's unfortunately starting to decline and he needed to be seen because he was swollen and making a bunch of strange noises. They got me in quick where as the other place never could and they gave him the same care and consideration they did our new baby. They did so great that my old very cranky boy didn't even put up a fight. They said he was a gentleman! I can't even take this turd to the groomer- that's how wonderful they are. So if you're even considering looking at new vets I promise you this is the place to go. Thank you all so much for treating our babies like your babies and making me feel so comfortable trusting you with something I love so dearly!

Bless her heart, she kept her cool. Get to him, take a look and call us back and let us know how bad it is bleeding she told me. I did that, and she told me to come on in. This is not meant to discredit the clinic as a whole, but to be transparent about an interaction that had a significant emotional impact on us and may be important for others to be aware of. Our family recently brought our cat to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists during one of the most painful moments a pet owner can experience--having to say goodbye. I want to be very clear that the majority of the staff we interacted with were kind, patient, and compassionate. The woman at the front desk treated us with warmth and respect, the staff member we spoke with on the phone beforehand was helpful and understanding, and the veterinarian who ultimately assisted with end-of-life care was gentle, loving, and respectful. He took the time to explain everything clearly and treated both our pet and our family with dignity. Those are exactly the kinds of people you want working in a field that involves end-of-life care and emotional vulnerability. Unfortunately, our initial interaction with one staff member significantly overshadowed the experience. When our family first arrived, the individual who took our cat back (not the person who checked us in) made comments that strongly implied judgment about why our pet had not been brought in sooner. These remarks were delivered in a way that felt accusatory and lacked empathy, especially given that our pet was actively dying and we were already emotionally overwhelmed. Financial limitations are a reality for many families. Being made to feel guilt or shame for not having immediate access to thousands of dollars--at the exact moment we were facing the loss of a beloved pet--was deeply inappropriate and unprofessional. Veterinary professionals are entrusted with not only animal care, but human compassion. This was not the time for assumptions, judgment, or commentary--it was a moment that required empathy, discretion, and support. I'm sharing this because no family should be made to feel judged or shamed while saying goodbye to a pet. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed internally, because the rest of the staff we encountered demonstrated the level of care and compassion that should be standard in situations like this. Our pet deserved peace and dignity in their final moments--and so did our family.

Unfortunately, I received a message from MADISON this morning stating that we have one strike against us because we called in to cancel an appointment when their business was closed. Our appointment line landed on a Monday and this is after the New Year's holiday and most places are closed. We tried to explain that my son has traumatic brain injury, and I was not feeling very well, but she was very unsympathetic and let us know that it's still one strike , and the next one we will have to pay for the visit in full, and then the third strike would be not being able to come to this veterinary clinic anymore for care I understand many establishments having policies for cancellation, and if I knew that they had one, I would definitely followed the rules. I was never told that we would have a strike against us. and I was also not told that you have three times before you're not able to come to this veterinary clinic anymore. I find it quite disappointing that a receptionist can arbitrarily make a decision for a family that has gone to this clinic that we have been going to longer than she's worked there. We personally know Dr. Polly and we were close to Dr. Garfield. That's the relationship that you have with people that stay loyal to you. You don't be rude to them and uncaring. I have always loved going to salmon Creek Vet, but this definitely has changed my mind and my opinion when people ask me where they should go. If there are policies, then you need to explain them to the customers before hand, not after. And this is not our first interaction with Madison. She has been rude before, and we just kindly smiled paid for what we needed to do and left. We thought that she was having a bad day, but it's obvious that not the case.

In the house, she targeted and chased my cats. I was hoping being a puppy, she would adapt as she grew with them.... Boy, I was wrong. I was telling my frustrations with the above to a coworker one afternoon. He told me of Jill at Countryside Kennels and what they did for his 2 Dobermans 10 years ago. He said that he took 2 unruly dogs down to them, left them for 4 weeks, picked them up after a few hours of training the humans. He said that his family got back perfect dogs. I got their number from my coworker and reached out to Countryside. I talked with Erin for more specifics. I wanted to see if they still professionally trained dogs since 10 years ago was a long time. She explained everything to me and what was expected. I was very happy with what they had to offer so decided to go for it. They were already booked out into March 2019 but Erin offered to put me on a cancellation list. A month went by and I got a call asking if I would like to take her to them the beginning of December 2018. I jumped on it! What I got back is a loving dog who has major self-control! I have no problems with her running off... or even going through a door without permission. The best part is at dinner time, I say Mindi go to your bed... she goes and I tell her to stay while we cook dinner and eat. This can take an hour to an hour and a half or so. Mindi stays put and she is a real good and loving puppy that likes to keep us happy. Jill warned me that she may still be nasty to the cats...
