About a year ago, my dwarf Golden with leg deformities and subsequent arthritis, needed some help with his pain management and I was tired of overpaying at his vet in Vancouver. I reached out to our local community on Facebook and was messaged by a medical assistant here at Amazia who was going to ask Dr. Scot and his team if they could squeeze Dexter in as a new patient. Not only did I get an email from Dr. Scot personally, but they scheduled my little man for that week and added all of our animals to their patient list -2 Horses, 2 alpacas, 3 cats, and 3 dogs! Our first appointment went so well. The vet who treated Dexter was so sweet to him, and he just loved her. The price for his exam, shots, and pain pills was very affordable. A few months later, I had a barn cat turn up sick. He's feral, and I knew I'd have trouble getting him seen by a vet for what I suspected was an emergency (UTI). I called Amazia, and although they didn't have time for him that day, the vets there prescribed a sedative for me to pick up so I could get him to the Emergency Vet in Vancouver. The fact that they had never seen this particular cat but were so willing to go above and beyond to help me get him sedated so I could crate him and get him seen; well, I was just blown away by their willingness to help. Since then, Amazia has helped with an arthritic horse, found carcinoma on my other horse, and prescribed treatment that seems to be effective, they also floated both horses' teeth and gave them shots. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with the staff and vets in all my interactions! They are so friendly on the phone and willing to help, even if they can't find the time to see your pet in person, they will try to send you in the right direction and are very sympathetic. I took my beloved pets here for years. When my first dog collapsed on a walk and I had to carry him to the car, I called Amazia, his primary vet. They said they were busy and could not see him and recommended Columbia River vet specialists emergency clinic. The doctor on staff told me my dog had some type of tumor/cancer and died on the table, and would I like to try to resuscitate. She did and then he died several hours later again. Horrible experience. It was not handled well and completely misdiagnosed. The large bulge in his side she called the tumor had never been there before . I was very disappointed in my primary vet to not be able take the time to even look at him. A second older dog was given a drug called Librella( at my reques), to help with his arthritis. I heard really good things about it helping and being a miracle drug. One of Amazias 's vets had previously indicated at an appointment that he had some kind of spinal issue that was causing difficulty in walking in his back legs. He rapidly declined after the first injection, and needed to be put down soon after. My concern is that it is known that dogs with neurological spinal issues should never be given this drug. I didn't know , but I would hope that a veterinary clinic would be aware of this . I get a strong feeling they really don't care about the animals, and like others have said , the priority is the money. I'm left with a VERY uneasy feeling about Amazia and have since gone to another vet in Washougal , a drive away but worth it. They used to be such great vets, but ever since the Dr left, this place has gone completely down hill and would NOT recommend them. They don't have knowledge vets and no one knows what the left hand is doing from the right. Absolutely terrible service and it's very sad since I have been with them for 30+ years. Can't wait to find a new vet who actually cares about their patients and can get things done when they say they will instead of charging $72 for a fecal sample and then not getting it to the lab TWICE and asking me to bring in a THIRD sample. To say I'm impressed is an understatement! I have always taken my dogs to a different vet for years- this vet started to feel less personal and more for profit so I started looking elsewhere. Now this vet isn't as close to home but they came with glowing recommendations from everyone I talked to. Everyone was right. First time in I was absolutely mind blow at how thorough they were giving my puppy her first exam. She a doodle and she's VERY doodley! They checked everything and asked me a million questions they gave me recommendations based on what I told them but didn't pressure me to do anything. I felt like they really cared. Fast forward to today- I also have an OLD Yorkie. He's my baby. He's unfortunately starting to decline and he needed to be seen because he was swollen and making a bunch of strange noises. They got me in quick where as the other place never could and they gave him the same care and consideration they did our new baby. They did so great that my old very cranky boy didn't even put up a fight. They said he was a gentleman! I can't even take this turd to the groomer- that's how wonderful they are. So if you're even considering looking at new vets I promise you this is the place to go. Have gone to Amazia for years for dogs, cats and horses. Great people, good service, and go out of their way to help. First visit was when I had a great dane who had a damaged nerve from a vaccine from another vet. That happens sometimes. That many years ago, there were no mobile dog and cat vets, and Dr. Scot the horse vet was willing to come out and evaluate him. Sadly, there was permanent nerve damage and he could no longer walk. Dr. Scot caringly euthanized him. We switched all animals to Amazia. read more

Very disappointed... I realize that many vets are overwhelmed with the number of clients seeking help for their pets nowadays - only so many hours in the day and only so many pets can be seen. This was my situation - two of my dogs got into a fight and made wounds on each other. The wounds are not life-threatening and perhaps don't even require stitches. However, my primary veterinary clinic is unable to see my dogs for over a week. So, I went seeking help elsewhere. That elsewhere was Amazia Vet Service. At first, I was told that I would be able to take both dogs into Amazia the following day to be seen. (I am concerned that they require antibiotics and possibly some wound ointment.) I emailed in pictures of both dogs. Where I made the mistake was telling the veterinary that when it came time to treat my dogs, that I should be present so that the dogs would be comfortable being treated. That killed my appointment. They then told me that they wouldn't see the dogs since they had never seen them before (doesn't that happen at least once for each dog they see?) Both are good dogs with no behavior issues that I bred and have well socialized. They are 4 and 5 years old. I am very disappointed with Amazia and now left again without treatment for my dogs. read more

I called to make an appointment for Elliot's beauty day on Wednesday (today is Friday) as I am moving in a few weeks. I didn't want to bring Elliot to a new vet as well as stress him for the move. The receptionist was told all this, AS well as know I was distressed about scheduling my appointment because I wouldn't be home tonight to supervise his recovery from anesthesia. She asked if I wanted to book the appointment and I could cancel if necessary as they wouldn't be equipped to do another "beauty day" until the end of next month, yes I kept the appointment and asked her to have Dr. Scott call me to go over the recovery time - I was obviously nervous and any vet clinic would have sensed that and made sure I felt comfortable bringing my beloved animal in. Maybe he never got the message but I was never called.. not even by the vet clinic to advise me not to feed or water Elliot several hours before general anesthesia because from my understanding they can vomit it up and die if they eat close to the anesthesia period... isn't that pretty important??? They call me around 9am.. already too late because Elliot has eaten breakfast because I assumed this wasn't happening. I easily tell the woman I am absolutely NOT bringing Elliot in. Why would I bring my animal in to risk him dying for something as simple as his hooves being trimmed. This clinic continues to rub me the wrong way. I don't believe they love animals or understand the love animal parents have for their animals. Two stars only because the last visit went smoothly. read more

I want to start by saying that my family has been a customer of amazia's for close to 20 years. We loved them, and they used to be great. I don't know what changed a few years back, but something did. Now, I wouldn't trust them with any pet of mine at all. They have shown us several times over the past several years that they are willing to put pets through dangerous procedures unnecessarily for their profit, regardless of the damage it does to the animal. I'll list the three situations that we have experienced (over the course of ~ 2 years) that have forced my family and I to switch vets, and hopefully will warn you about this business. The first red flag I got was when I brought my (then) 16 year old cat in for her annual checkup. She has a heart murmur so I only take her annually because of the stress risk to her heart. During the checkup the male vet continually berated me about surgical procedures that he himself admitted were unnecessary. He continued to say "if you love your pet, you'll pay for this procedure" or "a good cat parent would pay for this". He kept naming procedures that only 3 years prior a vet at Amazia had said were unnecessary for my cat and would put her at serious risk due to her heart murmur. When I brought this up he said "the risk is worth it". That entire experience made me uncomfortable and wary to say the least. Then, about two years ago, my mothers elderly dog began to have difficulty walking (he'd fall over) and was vomiting often. My mom brought him in 3 separate times to amazia to figure out what was wrong, and every time they did nothing. On the third time the doctor told my mother that the dog was not going to get better and needed to be put down immediately. My mother went with her gut and said "I'll give him another week", to which they berated her for and told her she was putting the dog through unnecessary suffering because of her choice. That night, things got worse and my mother took the dog to East Padden hospital, fully believing he would need to be put down. The vet there looked at him for less than 5 minutes before informing my mother that the issue was the dog had an ear infection, which was throwing off his equilibrium. A f*cling ear infection. They gave him antibiotics and a week later he was as good as new. AMAZIA ALMOST PUT DOWN HER DOG BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FEEL THE NEED TO CHECK HIS EARS IN THREE SEPARATE APPOINTMENTS. That was the last straw that caused my entire family to switch vets. Now, the reason I'm leaving this review now is because immediately before we found out about the ear infection thing, I brought my dog in for a checkup. They informed me during the checkup that my dog would need an absolute minimum of three teeth removed and that "if I cared about my dog I'd schedule it immediately because she's in a lot of pain." Then they gave me a "low ball" estimate of 1K to do so. I have felt so guilty that I hadn't scheduled the surgery for so long, but finally saved to the point that I had a spare few thousand to spend on fixing my dogs teeth. I scheduled it and brought her in fully believing she needed teeth removed. Got a call a few minutes into her teeth cleaning to hear "yeah I don't know why anyone would tell you she needs teeth removed, her teeth are perfect." I swear I had smoke billowing out of my nose and ears. These crooks almost unnecessarily removed 3 teeth from my dog just so they could make an extra 700 bucks. I hope you all heed my warning. Please please please do not take your animals here. read more

Dr. Scot and staff are wonderful- Dr. Scot has taken care of, and many times saved, almost every animal on my property. He has always come immediately in an emergency and gone above and beyond to treat my animals. I am so appreciative and cannot thank he and his clinic staff enough for their amazing care. read more

Dr. Wendy, Dr. Scot, and the staff here are everything you could want in vet care. We have been to many people in the PDX area over the last few decades and by far, they are the most attentive, caring, and accomodating people around. Their prices are also amaziang! They have been our go to for all of our pets for the last 14 years. We have had to go to a few others in that time for various reasons, and it's just not close. You can trust them with all of your animals, and your pocketbook. read more

My whole family has been coming here for years and we will never stop. I recommend this place to everyone. Each time I bring a pet in for something whether it's a check up or a problem visit they are always right on the nose about whatever may be happening with my fur babies. I have had 6 dogs and 3 cats in total over the years that I've brought here. They care! Also, their staff have always been so sweet and kind where it was the ladies in the front the vet techs or the vets themselves. One time my Great Dane refused to even go near the door and the vet tech helped me pick up her hind legs and wheel barrel her in. 10/10 read more

This is not a compassionate provider. We arrived at their office at our 'appointment' time with our cat whom we had starved that morning as he gets carsick. We were told that there was no appointment recorded for us and that we couldn't be fit into the schedule. I expressed our disappointment at the situation and was told by the attendant in a smart aleck way that our pet's records could be sent to any other vet we desired. We were curtly turned away due to them not having time to accommodate us (when we needed them most) as they were "too busy". I don't get them at all. They diagnosed my pet without seeing it telling me I have to go to a 24 hour clinic. They refused to let me bring him in to look at him first. I brought him into the 24 hour, after all day back and forth calls with Amazia. After xrays and huge we bill at the 24 hour Amazia calls me at end of day and say oh we have an opening now. I told them I just got back from the 24 hour ER clinic. Nothing broken. He wasn't drinking yet next day so I called Amazia to see if they can put him on IV for fluids for the day. They tell me they have to take xrays and bloodwork and will be a lot of money. I said the 24hr clinic you sent me to took 3 xrays yesterday, and he says ya but we need to see how he's progressing. I'm like what can change in the 19 hours since we left the other clinic? These guys stink. So totally unhelpful. Never would even take time to look at our pet, they just wanted to charge me money. Be careful about Amazia Veterinary in Brush Prarie. The owner and his wife are more concerned with $$ than helping animals. You must prepay for all procedures in ADVANCE. The small animal vet is argumentative and does not listen to the pet owner. I found the vet practice at Amazia in Brush Prairie overall to be un-cooperative and un-friendly. We tried Amazia several times, and because of the way they treat their clients with disrespect and arrogance, we will not be returning. read more

Don't. Condesending vet that let my dog endure tortuous pain. My Lab suffered a severe shoulder injury and he was taken there as he had been since six weeks. He could barely walk due to his pain and could not sleep. Vet walked around him, no hands on exam, said "I've seen this before", and sent him home with insufficient meds. New vet put him under so he could lay prone, did full blood work, x-rays, and determined he had been prescribed 1/4 of the meds he needed. I was a 12 year customer until today. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years at this clinic, from farm work on goats to my companion animals but no more. Note to their staff: when you put a wiggly, jiggly golden retriever puppy on your scale, and his weight is 61 pounds, then you charge the owner of that puppy $75 more for neuter surgery than a 60 pound puppy, you are gonna lose a customer. i had a hard time finding a vet i could afford , and or one that reall cared about my dog. He needed surgery because of a sewing needle stuck in his thorat. i was told 2500 to 4500 by another clinic. i didnt think id be able to get him fixed, but AMAZIA called me the next day and for a little over 200 dollars the surgery was done that day. these ladies are amazing ! i recamend them to everyone. they are nott about the love of money , but the love of animals.
