My dog is a 4-pound, highly-trained, 12 YO medical alert dog, a Yorkshire Terrier, trained to urinate on command. I had requested a blood test, concerned about diabetes. The Dr. extracted urine via cystocentesis without my permission for a urine test, let alone a needle extraction of urine. I can assume without an ultrasound as the dog showed obvious signs of discomfort for several days afterwards. Clinic staff called me 4 days later conveying a diagnosis that made no sense. I demanded a copy of the test results then realized there were extensive abnormal blood and urine results. Multiple times I requested more explanation and a call from the doctor. Multiple times I requested a different food prescription because my dog is allergic to beef and poultry. I kept getting their insistence that I buy Royal Canin beef or chicken renal diet from their website. The last email includes the statement, "I had the doctor take a look at his results and its not entirely clear in Dr Lovazs notes on why he wanted to start Pocket Rocket on a urinary diet. With Pocket Rockets history of allergies to chicken and beef, I want to touch base with Dr Lovasz when he is here again on Monday." I have yet to get further contact. I'm taking my dog to a different clinic for an expensive, same-day appointment to get the answers I need.

Never again will I ever go here. Horrible service when my dog was seriously ill. Whom ever answered the phone was definitely not understanding of my situation. I understand they are not emergency vet but I am fairly new to the area and I had to ask where to go. They were not going to provide me options! My dog passed away that day and luckily I found a great place for care and I was able to say my goodbyes.

I've come to Orchards for 4 years now. Anytime I've gone to another vet (Covid really booked everyone out), it's reminded me of why I always come back to this place. This week there was an emergency with one of our cats. This happened on Monday, March 28th around 5pm. (Putting the time/date to really shine a spotlight on the amazing receptionist, who's name I can't remember). Orchards was the first place I called and they immediately agreed it was a major issue and validated every concern with immense empathy. The receptionist informed me they were booked up but they would call me back and see what they could do. They sounded really busy, and I assumed I wouldn't hear a reply since they're a smaller place. After calling around, a lot of other vets worked me into a frenzy to go to try an emergency vet. I was about to leave with my cat in a crate when I got a call from orchards, the same receptionist offering to get me in a few days later. She talked me through every symptom and sign to look for until his walk-in. I left the conversation feeling a lot more educated and less stressed. It seems so small, but it really made such a difference to get that call back and it was such a testament to her customer service and care for the animals that come in. During his appointment, they managed everything perfectly. I felt secure knowing he was being well-taken care of. After his care, Dr. Atwell spent so much time explaining what they found. I left with that same sense of trust that my pet was going to be okay. I can't recommend this vet office enough. Anytime I come in, the receptionists are kind, and register my animals in a way that makes me feel safe. They always answer my calls and questions. And Dr. Atwell is always willing to explain any procedure or medical concern with empathy. I can't believe you guys managed the same service during Covid too. So thank you! Cat tax attached in photo

Both my cats have been long time patients of this veterinary office. I haven't been in in a while but have an appointment coming up for my dog Bubba as he has been coughing and sneezing. I will update my review based on my experience coming up!

Especially since you offer $250 vet checks when they're adopted from HSSW Animal Shelter. These dogs are traumatized from being there and then their new home, especially German Shepherds. My 20 month old little girl, had been through a lot and I was working diligently to get her acclimated and trained. I even had one-on-one training sessions with a professional trainer. The visit to this clinic was a nightmare from the start, I asked for a side entrance because of her high prey drive and distain of other dogs, I was told they didn't have one. Instead I was escorted into the lobby, then a very tiny exam room, it was just horrible, as we were seated the vet enters and she is standing just a couple feet from us, my dogs body language was escalating, then she tried to approach, clearly not reading my dogs warning, my dog growled and was lunging toward her. She decided to get someone to assist her, I asked if she wanted me to muzzle her and she agreed. Upon her return w/o assistant, my girl was very nervous and anxious. The vet said I should wait in the lobby and she'd take her as she might do better without my presence, which I agreed. But then she reached over the dogs head for the leash, as I tried to get up, Suki muzzle punched her in the hip, everything thus far had been done wrong. From lobby to tiny room, us seated, vet standing, it was a nightmare. After just a few minutes an assistant approached and said, they would have to sedate her to treat her ear infection $400 And asked why? Shed just had them cleaned and treated for yeast at the shelter before I'd officially adopted her, and without incident, other than nonstop barking through the exam and treatment. But they insisted she needed to be fully under. After I picked her up the next day, I was given horrible advice from this unqualified to treat GSD's as she absolutely nothing about the breed. She told me to get a harness to restrain her. Anyone who knows the breed knows that a harness only allows them to pull more. She also told me that she needs to be on meds and to see a behavioralist so they could diagnose her and she could then write the prescription. I am on a fixed income and do not have that kind of money. Then she told me that if I didn't get her on meds, she could attack someone and likely turn on me, maybe not now but within 2 years. I was extremely distraught and upset when I left. First of all I know my dog, she doesn't! Besides the fact that I TOLD them of her issues before I made the appt. But no one listened to me and no concessions were made at all for her visit. It is my recommendation that your clinic listens to the client. And put a fear aggressive dog with a skilled Veterinarian that is familiar with the breed and their behaviors. She absolutely was not! Bottomline: -LISTEN to the dogs owner -Match dog to the Vet most qualified to handle. -Don't offer up information about a dog that you know nothing about. Especially when you created the entire ordeal in the first place. I'm sorry for the bad review but the advice I was given was completely wrong and had she known the behaviors of the breed she wouldn't have suggested the things she did! It was careless and irresponsible. My dog used to want to eat my cat, but with 4 months of hard work, gentle introductions my study of the breed, here we are today! That is saying something as I, myself, am a human medical professional. He is gentle and genuinely cares for the pets, gives good advice in an almost off-hand manner, and refers to other practices if treatment would surpass the capacity of his own. His practice is limited, so don't expect a fancy ER or ICU for pets, but he does an amazing job diagnosing and understanding small animals. And the psychology of their owners, as well. That's another issue. He is straight foreward, thorough and knowledgeable and he has little interest in expensive add-ons or padding the bill. His charges are reasonable, especially considering the bills one finds at local 'animal hospitals' which border on human-scale expensive. I have also had him 'put down' a pet who was beyond hope and he is sensitive and responsive to such grim occasions. I can think of nothing unkind to say.

A Rollercoaster Experience at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital: Good to BAD to LOL…read more Strap in, folks, because this ride at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital is all about highs and lows, with a heavy dose of mystery. My debut was good Dr. Dena Baumgartner, (picture shown on their website below), savvy vet tech (picture not shown), and the vibe that my furball and my wallet were in good hands. But hold onto your hats, because round two veers into the twilight zone. The plot thickens with their photo policy - so cloaked in mystery it could star in its own detective novel. I wanted to document my pet's first happy vet visit. If Hearthwood was a book, it'd be titled 'Why We Hide.' Auditing seems overdue, doesn't it? Then there's the 'VIP (Very Isolated Pets)' treatment - pets and owners parting ways for procedures, waving more red flags than a matador. Me and my sidekick? We don't play that game. We took our paws elsewhere after a peek behind the curtain revealed too many unanswered questions. They wanted to separate me from my pet for a simple booster shot. I thought that was odd since we were already in a private room and they were holding the shot in their hand. Wouldn't you think that was odd? Don't even get me started on time - or the lack thereof. This tech (see picture below) is 45 minutes late for the appointment. As you can see, she is less 'fashionably late.' It's not just about the wait; it's the principle. Most people count that as a "no show" at 20 minutes? Where do you draw the line? 15, 30 min? If it was the other way around they would easily charge me a "no show" fee. They also charged me wellness exam fee of some $60 which I did not authorize nor was I advised that a exam was being conducted. Bottom line: If you're shopping for a vet where secrets don't shadow simple check-ups and respect for your time is a given, let my story be your compass. It's time to vote with our feet, because the path to change is paved with our choices. In America, we vote with our dollar. And people like this business need to respect that. I hope people who read this review note that I was not offered an apology or a refund. Transparency, accountability, and punctuality aren't just nice-to-haves; they're must-haves. After having her for 8 hours, Pacific diagnosed her with worms and a gastro illness. She had elevated white blood cells, which we asked their vet repeatedly if this was a complication due to the spay (like a possible infection) and was told no. We were met with multiple charges of x-rays and other items without focusing on the elevated white blood cell count. Other vets we spoke to after stated with any elevated white blood cell count, especially in a kitten so soon after surgery, the very first thing that should have been checked was for an infection. Even if the surgery site looked okay there could be an infection inside. They even took our post-surgery cone and never gave it back and gave us go home instructions that were for a dog not even a cat! Pacific claimed they checked the surgery site and there was no evidence of infection. But less than three days later, she was in so much pain she couldn't even move and was hollowing. At four in the morning less than 72 hours later, we were denied access by Pacific, saying they were closed for diversion. They wouldn't even triage her or check to make sure she's okay. Keep in mind this is a kitten less than a week post spay. We took her to a different emergency vet and an abscess nearly the size of the golf ball was found along with a very bad infection. She had to have an additional surgery and was even given medication to bring her blood pressure and heart rate up because her heart rate dropped extremely low during surgery. Based on the size of the large abscess by that time, there would have been some indication of infection or abscess that was completely missed by Pacific. It took nearly two weeks for someone at Pacific to even call me back about my kitten. I finally spoke to the emergency department head on August 5th to describe my concerns, misdiagnosis and request for reimbursement because we don't believe she was diagnosed properly and the inability to be seen again shortly less than 72 hours later. The ER department claimed he would talk to the vet that serviced her and get back to me. After multiple attempts over twelve days, he finally called me back on August 17th claiming he talked to multiple vets and felt everything they did was satisfactory. I disagreed even claiming when he spoke to me on August 5th, he stated he didn't know the reason they did x-rays. And then all of a sudden he changed his tone saying you approved everything during the cat's stay so that's why it was done. As an emergency vet, we thought Pacific would give us the proper care. But unfortunately, they did not and it seems like they wanted to run up the bill instead of looking for the obvious signs of post surgery complications and treating those. We only know this because the next emergency vet and our own vet, said the clear signs were there. Especially that close after her spay surgery and her being a five month old kitten. She shouldn't have this many complications. Pacific refuses to reimburse us. We feel they should give some reimbursement due to the misdiagnosis, the inability to be seen again shortly after (turned away at 4am from a 24 hr emergency vet hospital less than 72 after being seen) and the lack of urgency or care to get back to us timely by their management team.

We brought our senior cat, Huck, in because we had been battling fleas and ear mites for approximately three months. By the time of our appointment, we had finally gotten the flea problem under control, but the ear mites remained our primary concern. During the initial visit, we were told Huck needed a comprehensive senior exam, which cost approximately $600. We gladly paid because we wanted to make sure he received the care he needed. We were also informed that he required extensive dental work, estimated between $1,700 and $2,700. Fortunately, the final cost was on the lower end of that estimate, around $1,700. At the first appointment, we were assured that the medication prescribed would address both the flea and ear mite issues. Unfortunately, months later, we are still dealing with the ear problem. Communication throughout this process was consistently poor. Before appointments, no one provided helpful instructions such as whether we should avoid cleaning Huck's ears beforehand. For his dental procedure, we were told only that drop-off would be between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. No one mentioned paperwork. When my boyfriend arrived, he was immediately handed paperwork and told it would take about 20 minutes to complete. Naturally, this caused unnecessary stress because he wasn't expecting it. In reality, it was only one page and took just a few minutes. At Huck's dental follow-up appointment, we arrived early by mistake, then returned shortly after our scheduled time. While waiting, one of the receptionists assisted us while actively eating and speaking with food in her mouth. This was not the first time we had experienced this behavior from staff and it came across as unprofessional. Although our appointment was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Huck was not taken back until nearly 10:50. We requested to speak directly with the doctor because we still had concerns about his ears. After examining him, the doctor stated that his ears appeared darker than normal but was unsure whether the issue was ear mites, yeast, or something else. We were then told that microscopic testing could be performed--but it would cost an additional $103. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. We had already spent well over $2,000 between exams, treatment, and dental care, and the original issue that brought us in still had not been resolved. Being asked to spend even more money simply to determine what was going on felt unreasonable given the circumstances. While we were waiting, another customer was attempting to pick up medication for his pet after receiving a text notification. Staff appeared unable to locate the medication and repeatedly searched different locations while asking the customer the same questions. It reinforced the impression that the clinic was disorganized and lacking clear communication. My biggest concern is not the cost. Veterinary care is expensive, and I understand that. My concern is that we spent over $2,000, received repeated assurances that the treatment would address the problem, and yet the original issue remains unresolved. Combined with the poor communication, lack of preparation for appointments, long waits, and unprofessional interactions at the front desk, this experience left us feeling disappointed and frustrated. I sincerely hope the clinic improves its communication, organization, and follow-through with clients because pet owners deserve clear answers and that their concerns are addressed.

I've never left a review for anything, but want to give a public thank you to Dr. Pittman and staff. They were very caring and skilled. Dr. Pavlich ordered an echocardiogram for my dog and I was called with the results by some unknown person who recommended a medication but didn't know how the medication worked. I called and asked to speak with the ordering vet to discuss the echocardiogram because, as a physician, I had many questions before starting my pet on a medication about which my basic questions could not be answered. I was called back the next day by a person named Dallas who acted as though my request was a great imposition and that a vet might be willing to speak with me. Dallas emailed me the next day to inform me that another unknown vet was willing to talk with me by phone, but it would be an additional fee to discuss the results of the already expensive echocardiogram that was ordered by Dr. Pavlich. I called the clinic and spoke again with Dallas. When I expressed that I was unhappy that I was being charged an additional fee to discuss the test results he actually hung up the phone on me. If I treated my patients like this I would not only be out of business, but would be reported to the medical board. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. Needless to say, we will be finding veterinary care from a vet that actually cares. My recommendation is to stay as far away from this clinic as possible.
