I have been to and purchased from Amazing Discoveries a few times now and have grown to not be very fond of the place. Yes they have a ton of product but it is certainly more expensive than other game stores I have been to in town. Customer service is so hit and miss, one time the employee could be nice and helpful and the next time a different employee could be very rude and just a straight up A**hole. I have heard from friends that they have also had bad experiences with customer service and will only shop here for singles and make the orders online to try and avoid dealing with the employees as much as possible. Most of my interactions with this place have been negative. Great if you are looking for individual cards but the customer service absolutely needs work and sealed product prices are a little too high, I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I had a recent online experience that was stellar! Ordered a game from a friend and had an easy time interfacing with Flo to pick up my item locally. I have also been in the store as well and it is always a pleasant experience. Friendly, knowledgeable service, good product selection and value ( games galore and disc golf!) We were in the mood to do a puzzle so we called Amazing Discoveries. They gave us a brief rundown of what they had in stock. We asked them their COVID protocol and headed over. They don't let more than 6 people in the store at one time. Parking and entry is in the back due to roadwork and construction on Broadway. They have a table with sanitizer in the entry hallway as well. The staff kindly directed us to the puzzle shelf when we arrive. The store is super clean and spread out. Staff are friendly. We were in and out in less than ten minutes. We'd definitely come back again! They do have online ordering but it does not appear that the in-store inventory matches what they have online, so if you're looking for something specific, call first! read more

I frequently visit Amazing Discoveries in Gilbert for all of my MTG and Pokémon needs so I figured I had to check out the Tucson location while in town for the day. When I first entered the staff were so welcoming and friendly and helped me find everything I was looking for. They are so well stocked and have a plethora of items for all of your gaming needs. Plus as an added bonus they have disc golf stuff too! I ended up picking up some Pokémon cards while there, the computers they have set up in the back are so convenient for you to see their store stock and select the cards you're looking for. They also have plenty of tables and space for you to hang out and play with friends. Definitely will be back the next time I visit Tucson! read more

I've taken my 12 yr old cousin here several times because he plays Pokemon TCG. The staff is always welcoming, knowledgable, and overall good feel to the store. He's also participated in a few tournaments and they are run smoothly. It's a specialty game store with a great selection of board games and other card games too. I had played a game at Maker's House called Power Grid and the store was able to special order it for me. They also have a game library, so you can play games without buying them right away. One game I was considering buying was Ascension. It's a deck building game and there were other people in the store that new how to play and wanted to help teach. Definitely a positive, welcoming environment for new gamers like myself and the advanced gamers alike. Very fun. Would definitely come back, even just to hang out. :) read more

I went with my family to try and find a gift for my cousin's baby's mama's stepson who's into D&D and WoW and was immediately hit with the stankyest smell. It smelled like used wet socks mixed with urine. It gave me the biggest headache. I didn't find anything and wasn't offered any help. I'm glad I found this place though. Incredibly rude dismissive staff. Prepaid for an online order that ended up being incomplete. Still unclear whether the order shortage was malfeasance or just gross negligence. When I made the staff aware of the disconnect they were clearly annoyed I was requesting rectification. Instead of immediately apologizing and offering a refund they insisted I take store credit as a form of compensation for the product they falsely advertised and charged me for. When I insisted on a refund they grew even more disgruntled and eventually gave me my money back after I made it clear store credit would be unacceptable. I will no longer be supporting this organization with my business as this is the final straw. I have a litany of issues and bad experiences them. read more

This review is more about trust than anything else. I had never been in this store before but I took a look. It was massively busy. I was inquiring about MTG packs on sale and all their standard was 6/$20 and that's pretty good. I wanted 6 packs of Eldrich moon. Eldrich moon has been proven to be 100% searchable but I love the set. I purchased 2 booster boxes and confirmed they are searchable. When I watched him pull the 6 packs out of an open box, I notice it was only 2 arts. When I cracked the 6 packs, I got 3 non-flip mythics and 2 foil rares. This place to me seems honest. This place is AMAZING! By far the best game store in Tucson!! The staff are super helpful and go out of their way to help you feel welcome. They have tons of games in stock to browse and lots of tables for playing card games and miniatures, along with some super sweet terrain. The staff helped my kids hone their Pokemon decks and play their first junior tournament. The other players were amazingly nice and after playing a match, gave my kids advice on what cards to add to their deck to make it better, and even gave them some free cards to fill out their decks. At the end of the day, all the kids couldn't wait to go back again because they had such a great time. read more

Amazing Discoveries ("Amazing Disco" to its friends) is a great game store. They've embraced the idea that a local store can't compete with Amazon and online retailers on price, but instead must become the center of a community. They have a large and generally comfortable play area (a few chairs are in bad condition, but that's to be expected with the volume of people they host) and they host events frequently for card games, miniatures games, and other games. The staff are friendly and approachable - they have different areas of expertise, so the person you find may not always be able to answer your question, but they'll definitely know who on the staff to ask. The big draw here is their events. They publish a reliable calendar of events on their website, so it's very easy to answer the question that always comes up with games - "how do I find someone to play with?" Also making events better are the wall murals, the display of prints by a local fantasy artist, and the availability of water, soft drinks, and snacks. Some of their infrastructure could use a little investment - those chairs again! - but it's almost always easy to find a place to play whatever you've come to play. Amazing Disco is a great example of the Friendly Local Game Store and I'm glad it's here. read more

3 stars is perfectly befitting. Nothing special, yet nothing to really complain about too badly. Their prices are comparable to any other store or internet venue. The place has inconvenient parking in the front, but more parking in the rear. Nice big open tournament / play area, lot's of cards to choose from. When you are selling to them, they give you about half value, which everyone believes is fair I guess. I think you could make more selling on eBay, but if you need it right away I guess this is the only answer. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, but the lines are long - and even when the lines aren't long, there is still a hefty wait to get helped. This is due to the nature of the business - the help has to meander through collections of cards whether the customer is there to purchase or to sell, so this takes quite some time. So like I said, there is really nothing to rave about here - nor is there a reason not to go. It just exists. read more

So get in there and the guy is talking about how his nephew is 2. How he can keep his mask on. And calling it bad parenting if you can't keep a mask on your small kids. After successfully purchasing from them online, I placed a new order the other day. After a few days I received an email saying "CANCELLATION, FRAUD: BILLING ADDRESS SHIPPING ADDRESS MISMATCH" This is very odd considering I already used them before. After seeing the cards I ordered were now listed at 5 dollars from 50 cents it all made sense. I would have preferred an email saying sorry we actually want more money for the cards. Hire someone who can keep up with prices instead of canceling successfully made purchases and sending a BS response. read more

In an industry being overtaken by online retailers consistently offering 30-40% off, Amazing Discoveries leaves me feeling indifferent towards them. If I really want a product today, and am willing to pay at least 30% more to have it, and can't find it at Isle of Games, then I will shop at Amazing Discoveries. As another reviewer mentioned, there's just nothing particularly special about this store, but also nothing to specifically complain about either. They are primarily a table-top gaming store that focuses on trading card games like Magic the Gathering and Pokémon, but also have a modest board game and wargaming selection, too. And they do it all fairly well. But they do not do anything better than another one of the 8 game stores in Tucson can do. The store used to have an odor problem caused by gamer funk and cleanliness issues, but since they remodeled, I haven't noticed the pervasive smell any more when I walk in. I hope management maintains the new levels of cleanliness. Stores like Isle of Games and Tucson Games & Gadgets really forced some of these older stores to up their game (so to speak). The new remodel looks great and is a step in the right direction. It feels much more welcoming and open when you walk in. The employees are polite and knowledgeable about trading card games, but if you have a question about board games, then Amazing Discoveries has the same problem as Tucson Games & Gadgets - there is no one who works there that knows anything about board games. However, the customer service is a few steps above Tucson Games & Gadgets. In summary, good store that will especially appeal to the trading card gamer, but may not offer anything that another store doesn't already do better. They are working on improving their store, and I've seen the improvements. Hopefully this store makes itself relevant again after these new games stores have been edging it out. read more

The store's focus is definitely magic and other CCG. It have a decent selection of board games, miniature, RPG, and a small selection of comics. I can't speak too much to the CCG side of things at the store as I am primarily a board gamer and I was there during the day. They certainly have plenty of space to play. My girlfriend and I moved to Tucson last August and we decided that AD was the store we would make our LGS. Since we started playing at AD we have been exposed to an array of competitive players, formats, and game types. We have tried unique board games, multiple TCG formats, and had our highs/lows. While we are never really in the top we are still treated well, for the most part, by everyone we play against. The staff is quick and attentive. Everyone is good at their job, friendly, and helps maintain a competitive/professional atmosphere. The new changes the store has made are great. New display cases, a bigger card bank, moving the TV, and expanding their selection were just the beginning of the changes they have made. The improvements to the table-top room are really nice. Making the room quieter and comfortable was a great move. The new hallway in the back is looking great, too! We play modern, standard constructed, limited, and commander mostly and we are able to do all of those at AD. They also do some great promotions ;) read more

The front area includes every kind of Magic game and otherwise, and beyond that is a huge room where people gather to play against each other. This place is a great example of the locally-owned stores that give Tucson its character. You can get all sorts of card games (MtG, Pokemon, Vanguard, Kaijudo, Yu Gi Oh!, Lot5R, etc), board games, miniatures, etc. They host several leagues and play days and it is actually a really fun store to just go in, buy a deck of your card game of choice and sit down and pick up some games on the weekends. Also, unlike other stores I haven't felt I get stares or rude demeanors from the owners or other gamers for being a girl. It's the little things! read more

Great staff they will drop everything to help a customer. Good prices. You can always find a pick up game going on in the back. FMN ALWAYS happens and mid week booster drafts if you cant make it on friday. Check out their twitter and face book for updates. They have also donated cards to the Palo Verde High School mtg club on several occasions. They feel more like a community hub, than just a store. They also purchase cards and you might be able to find someone in the back looking to trade.
