Alice knows her craft. I went in with horrible upper back and neck pain that wouldn't go away, even after seeing my chiropractor a few times. I could barely bend my head down, and it was painful just to sit up straight. After a couple hour-long therapy sessions with Alice, my pain is gone and I have full mobility. Dear yelp, please create a 6th bonus star. If I could give Alice 6 stars I would. I had a massage with her 11 hours ago and I am still amazed. My story short: I've been a bartender for many years (back and knee problems). Degenerative disk disease and arthritis are in my genes (thanks Mom). I was in an accident 4 yrs ago where I was dead stopped and someone hit me from behind at 35/40 mph. So.. I'm a hot mess. I went back to bartending recently and my back is very angry. I was in so much pain, I was desperate for a real massage, a nearly medical, therapeutic treatment, not a mediocre candlelit Swedish massage. I found this yelp page and was encouraged by all the great reviews. I texted Alice last night, she got back to me within 15 min. She luckily had a spot available this morning. I got really lucky. I immediately loved her. She's warm and funny and super down to earth and direct. Before she even touched me she said: "yep, I can already see your right shoulder is higher than your left, out of whack". Her knowledge of the body and muscular-skeletal workings is so thorough, I'm blown away. She explained every single thing she was doing and why. I understand my pain now. I literally felt like I had gone to a specialist MD. When I stood up and walked around I felt amazing. I felt taller, lighter a little dizzy even. I was giddy. I walked to my car and couldn't believe I felt no pain. I didn't remember what it felt like to NOT be in pain. It's a constant. To not be completely balled up in tightness and pain was euphoric. I said "I'm still aware of my bones but it doesn't feel like they and my muscles are holding each other hostage anymore!" I'm not fixed by any means. The best massage session I've ever had. Period. Jeremy literally changed my life in ONE visit. I'd had TMJ and been seeing a chiropractor for 7 months to help with my severe jaw pain caused from stress and invisalign. This included lock jaw, clicking and I was unable to open my mouth fully for MONTHS. Or eat anything wonderfully chewy like pizza crust. After one session with Jeremy I could fully open my mouth and it has stayed that ever since. Even if I eat really chewy food. He is incredibly knowledgable about the human body's muscular and skeletal structures. Instead of just laying there and getting "rubbed," he has you use resistance against him to help your muscles and movements return to their correct positions. It's an active massage that leaves you feeling about 500x better than when you walked in. I've been seeing Jeremy for the last few months and my body feels different in the best way possible. My posture is better, my bunions are straightening out and most importantly my TMJ and lockjaw are gone. If you want, he'll send you home with stretches/instructions to help between sessions. I would HIGHLY recommend him. I don't bother to see anyone else anymore because it's not worth it, nothing is as effective or immediate as one session with Jeremy. read more

Two Reviews In One: James: myofascial massage. 5 stars Very different from deep tissue, but exactly what I needed. Muscles that have been tight for so long they'd forgotten what normal is. Stress releases in places I hadn't realized I was holding stress. James is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, but communicate well because myofascial requires you to relax. I have discovered that fully relaxing takes a lot of my concentration. tmi, but this may be true for others. I recommend at least three visits to fully appreciate this type of massage. You may get hooked though, fair warning. Alice: deep tissue massage. 5 stars Wow. Sigh. Heavy sigh. Wow! I need special attention on some traumatized muscles. Alice took a few minutes to find out about what I wanted and where my problem spots were. I experienced relief after one visit. I could go on and on, but please visit her website, she says it so much better! She charges more than what I am used to paying, but let me tell ya... soooo worth it! There are some price break options available that I plan on taking advantage of, so thankful for that as well. Are you looking for a relaxing spa massage, or a massage where the therapist works on your body like clockwork, each body part relegated a certain number of minutes to get through the hour? or where "deep tissue" means jamming an elbow in and around everywhere to make you feel like you get your money's worth? Well Alice is not for you then. If your body actually HURTS either from an injury or just age, and you want a massage therapist who really understands the body and knows that tightness or pain in one spot may be caused from an issue from somewhere else entirely; or knows when causing pain is necessary and helpful, versus making something worse; who treats you more as a patient than just a "massage client", THEN you are in the right place. I am a fan of massages and (pre-covid) used to get them regularly - spa massages, girls day out massages, and sports injury and therapeutic massages. I am a big fan of "no pain, no gain" but THE MOST important thing in a massage is someone who has "smart fingers." Someone who doesn't just pound away at a knot with an elbow and be done with it. Someone who doesn't just squish your muscles where you tell them it hurts. The difference between that and someone who knows how the body works and deeply understands what they are doing in order to help you is worth every penny and the wait.
