No internet upon entering to allow you to use their smart carts or use your shopping code on your phone. Most of the shelves are partially bare so the selection is very poor. I have stopped going there except for convenience items that I hope are in stock . read more

I waited a month to check out this new grocer located where Chevy Chase Supermarket used to be. I drive pass this location all the time. The first thing they need to do is make the entrance sign more visible. I turned too soon and I had to go back out to Connecticut Ave and try again. You will grab a ticket for two hours free parking underground. Luckily it was empty when I went. There are lots of carts (I like the small ones) to grab and take up the elevator. It is huge like a warehouse. The aisle shelving is really tall. And it is freezing inside! I should have worn a jacket, now I know for next time. The selection isn't bad, but a bit sparse, especially in the seafood and bakery departments. I didn't see fresh raw shrimp. I was hoping for some cranberry muffins like Whole Foods sells. They must partner with WF because they sell their 365 brand. Prices were surprisingly low. Cod was $7.99/#. Raspberries on sale were cheaper than Aldi. Luna bars are just $1.29 and they sell my favorite flavor that Trader Joe's doesn't carry anymore. What really brought me in was the coupon I received in my mail for $20 off a $40+ purchase. I easily spent over $50, so this discount really help. The only issue I had was one item that I wanted from the deli was not in the system so the worker couldn't print out a label. It left me pacing back and forth while they tried to figure it out. Finally the guy wrote the price on the lid. I am not a Prime member and like receipts, so I did the standard checkout. The cashier couldn't correctly read the price the guy wrote and overcharged me, then I had to wait again. Other than that, things when smoothly. I will probably be back if I receive more coupons or if they have sales worth stopping by for. read more

Beyond awful. The only reason I used was curbside pickup. But today there was only one designated pickup space, it was taken, and while I waited at my pickup time a parking attendant for the complex threatened to ticket me and had me circle the block to move. After 15 minutes of waiting I went into the store and the staff blamed me for not entering my car details which I clearly had and even a text had confirmed a staff was on their way which they weren't. I got home and found an incomplete order and produce covered in mold. Never going back. read more

My order said it was ready early but someone made a mistake and it was not ready after I checked in. They had to repack the order of 11 items, which took them almost 45 minutes. one item was still missing and the very rude manager Laura acted as if I didn't know how to order online or use my phone. She finally realized I was right, after she had insulted me. I'm done with Amazon fresh! If you do shop there, check expiration dates and I wouldn't buy anything cold there due to improper food safety. They do not know what they're doing at all, and have no business running a grocery store. read more

Amazon Fresh, it's an oxymoron. There is almost nothing fresh here. As you can see in the photos, the fresh food bins are almost totally empty. (The Pringles case in the vegetable bin was a fitting touch.) Amazon Empty? Amazon Pre-packaged? Soviet Amazon? You would think I went in the midst of a snowstorm, nope. Side note, I don't get why they put this epic-fail in this neighborhood. I recently went to the Whole Foods (Amazon) in Georgetown. It had an actual butcher meats, fresh fish and much better produce, including some unpackaged local stuff. They're owned by the same company. Did they think Chevy Chase couldn't sustain a Whole Foods? I used to complain about the Kensington Safeway, which is it's own worst enemy. No more. Amazon Fresh makes it look . . . well serviceable. Staff is nonexistent and if an employee is around, they aren't doing much. They are rude. I tried to scan laundry detergent and when it didn't scan, she told me to go find out the price and come back. another product wasn't scanning and instead of finding another product, She just took it away. This new Amazon Fresh just had its grand opening two days ago. It's a bit far from where we live but I figure it's a good new destination for a long bike ride so we decided to go check it out. Not as crowded as I expected although opening events are still ongoing through the weekend including giveaways of various snack etc. This is one of these stores that has "just walk out shopping" where once you have downloaded the Amazon app on your phone and scanned in you can just load up your groceries in one of the bags hanging around the store for this purpose and then just walk out when done (Ok - not quite "just walk out" as you will have to scan your phone again so that the App knows you've checked out in order to charge you accordingly). Alternately you can also use you credit card liked to an Amazon account to check in and out. There are a lot of staff around to assist. However if you are not ready for this futuristic style of shopping they still have a few old fashioned staffed check out counters - including credit card machines that don't seem to be able to handle contactless card reading. This is a bigger store than the first one in Friendship Heights, although not overwhelmingly so, a good size actually, and has pretty much the same stock (the bakery section is still disappointing). It's very spacious with wide aisles and high ceilings dotted with a gazillion cameras/sensors for the walk out shopping. Because of that everything is individually priced including loose unbagged veggies and fruits (no price stickers either) - how the sensors can accurately price pieces of loose fruits or heads of broccoli when you walk out is pretty incredible. However I'm not ready for that yet - in particular because they can't give you a digital receipt on the spot - I was told it'll take a couple of hours which would be a hassle in case there is a mistake in the charges. Clearly the technology still needs some improvement. read more

What a disappointment to discover that Amazon has so quickly abandoned their cashier-less model. Cameras have been removed and carts have been divided into categories, adding "smart carts" to the collection. Although these carts allow you to scan your groceries as you go, that adds time to the trip. The beauty of the cashier-less model was that shoppers could be in and out quickly. Additionally, the "friendly" cashier was on her phone the entire time I checked out (I used the original model cart). Such a shame. read more

Large store and very few shoppers. The store does not have the advertised specials. The manager told me "come tomorrow may be we will get some". Mangos for 69 cents were soft, mushy and ready for the garbage bin. Lots of hype and smoke but no fire! Also, parking is a nightmare. read more

Since it opened, this has become my go-to spot for grocery shopping. It's around-the-corner convenient. The "pros" are many. The store is clean, the prices are more than reasonable, and the quality is good. Items are easy to find. Two-hour parking is free. The service has been polite and friendly. I know some people don't like it, but the biggest "pro" is the "just walk out" checkout feature. I scan my palm, walk in, get why I need, bag as I go, and walk out without standing in line. And my groceries are bagged exactly the way I want. I do have to check my receipt once it's emailed to me, but only once have I found a mistaken item. Even then it was a simple fix. I got a refund via the Amazon app on my phone. The store is pretty cold, though. And they seem to shut down their salad bar and hot bar well before closing. They close at ten and I've gone in at seven to find them empty. My main "con" is that I occasionally go there only to find certain items I want are not in stock, but that's the same as any other grocery store. Today I found an item was out of stock and had to go to two different grocery stores before I found it. read more

I parked for less than 10 minutes (maximum 15 minutes), and when I tried to explain the situation, the person I spoke to was extremely rude and unprofessional. They outright insulted me, refused to listen to anything I had to say, and even made racially offensive remarks. This behavior is unacceptable on every level and reflects poorly on this establishment. Customers should not have to deal with such disrespect and discrimination. I've been a few times but will probably only go when I can't make it to Safeway. The drama free report is: Space: Warehouse. Very cold. Big. Staff: Helpful. Nice. Friendly. Proactive. Selection: You will probably find what you want but if you're looking for brand specific stuff, you're depending on luck. Parking: underground, free for 2 hours. 2 slow EV chargers in lot. On other side (Retail) there are Tesla superchargers. If you scan in using your Amazon In Store Code QR code, you just put stuff in your bag and scan and leave. It's very easy. I did take stuff off shelves and put stuff back and I even put stuff in my bag and then put it back when I found what I was actually looking for and the Eye of Sauron got it right and really only charged me for what I took. The first time I came I went through the checkout line nearby someone else. It took a long time to get my receipt and I was charged for items I did not purchase (about 10 different things). I was refunded but this was a hassle. Be sure to check your receipt carefully. The second time they were sold out of many refrigerated items. There was no rotisserie chicken, cheese, milk, or yogurt. The only reason I'll go is because I keep getting the $20 off a $40 purchase for the opening store promotion but I will not come back once that ends. read more

My first two times to Amazon Fresh were good experiences. My third experience was awful. I was there about 7 PM on a Monday and the shelves were mostly empty. They didn't have half of what I needed. But the worst part was no one was working as a cashier and the self service check out machines were NOT working correctly. I couldn't get help. I left my food and went to another store. A grocery store without...groceries! You read it right. This Amazon Fresh is walking distance from my home, and although I have some reservations about Amazon taking over everything, I also wanted a grocery store nearby. After about 6 months of going here about once a week, I can now say that this location will probably not survive because it lacks actual food to buy. Large empty sections. Speciality food here is not really offered. It's just the basics, and even the most basic of provisions are often not available. 93% lean ground turkey? Completely gone. Hummus? Not today. Cilantro? Nope. I am still giving this 2 stars because they do run sales on food that is sometimes a better steal than buying in bulk at Costco.... if they actually stock the food! read more

I visit Amazon Fresh at the Chevy Chase location (5463 Wisconsin Ave, Chevy Chase MD, 20815) weekly, when I don't order delivery. =) As expected the Store is pristine and well-stocked. The employees are super friendly, especially the young man in the Bakery. It seems as if Amazon is welcoming of persons with disabilities who work there as well. Great Job Amazon Fresh. We need more companies that model themselves after Amazon Fresh. This store great for both the community & employees. read more

My husband and I went twice thus far since it's open recently. What prompted me to write a review was the terrible service I experienced this afternoon (October 30, 3:50pm-ish). First, as soon as I walked in, the ambiance felt unwelcoming and cold. I don't know if it is the lighting or the floor layout. Maybe that's a design of Amazon Fresh on purpose in order to separate itself from other regular grocery stores? Kind of an industrial feel and the store is meant for people to go in and out quickly? Second, the store didn't have everything that I was hoping to get. The flowers selection was meager. They didn't have the non-dairy milk brands I was looking for like WestSoy or EdenSoy whose soy milk has only two ingredients (less processed and cleaner than other brands). They also didn't have chia seeds or palm hearts or the unsweetened original shredded wheats (the latter is quite common to find in regular grocery stores, in my opinion). Their hot food bar is a joke, I am sorry to say. Third, we were puzzled at how we could just walk in, scan the barcode in the Amazon app, shop, and scan the barcode again to check out and proceed to leave the store, all without having to scan any of our items! We got the receipt in an email about an hour afterwards. How did Amazon Fresh know what we bought?!! We asked an employee about it and she pointed to the countless cameras hanging from the ceiling all over the store. I am not typically worried about "big brother" in general but I was quite taken back by the number of the cameras in the store. Lastly which prompted me to write this review was the terrible service. The fresh bread section was next to the pizza counter. I asked the young lady at the pizza counter if they have a bread slicer and if they offer the bread slicing service. She said "yes but give me a minute." I said "sure!" and put the loaf of the bread on the pizza counter. She was in the middle of slicing a pizza. It was fair that waited for her to finish that. It took her several minutes to finish slicing a large pizza (again, that was okay because I thought she wanted to do her job right). She then started moving an empty tray and putting the pizza that she just finished slicing on another tray and was moving another tray. After all that, I thought she was going to help me next. No, no, no, this lady decided to move onto the second pizza and started brushing the pizza with oil. All these time, she could have put my bread in the slicer and it could have been done literally in a minute or two max. I really don't know if she was deliberately being slow to keep me waiting. There was no customer ordering pizza. I was the only customer right in front of her. I'd hate to think that my race (as Asian) has anything to do with it but I don't know. I lost my patience and grabbed my bread and left. This was a young (thin) lady with super long fake eyelashes. She had long hair with a pony tail. She was wearing a grey, sports jacket (not Amazon uniform). It was an unfortunate experience. I hope other people will get a better experience with her than I did. My husband I only went because the store is within walking distance from our house. And we wanted to try out how Amazon Fresh was. I will not go back. I will stick to my usual Safeway, Giants, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe's. read more

I don't recommend shopping at Amazon Fresh. They need to fix their software to not charge for items you walked near but didn't pick up, items you put back and things that look like your item but are the wrong item. Then you don't get a receipt for up to 24 hours that you can check and even though the app looks like you can easily get a refund because you didn't get the item you can't use, you get a response that the items are non-returnable so you click the Contact Us button and that doesn't work. Yesterday I wrote a long negative review under the Friendship Heights location since I could find the correct Chevy Chase Lakes newer location. The parking experience was terrible since the signage is poor and the Amazon Fresh in gate is broken so you have to illegally go around the in/out gates through the handicap spot if no cars or carts are blinking the illegal entrance. Then you don't have a ticket that works to exit through the working exit so you have to move carts left in the handicap spot to illegally exit. No help button on the exit ticket box. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with Amazon Fresh customer service yesterday only to be told they couldn't help me until I got my email receipt even though something must have been recorded in the system because I got a push notification and could see my list of items including the ones I didn't get for a few minutes before it disappeared from the Amazon App. Some serious work is needed on the hardware sensors, software to provide receipts immediately as you check out, and customer service in store to better explain your shopping options and limitations of the scan in / scan out being receiptless for 24 hours. You don't know how much you bought and what you were charged for and even if the coupon that encouraged you to try Amazon Fresh was applied. read more

Why did Amazon lease this space given they clearly aren't committed to providing a decent store. Why didn't Amazon put a Whole Foods here? It would have been well received in this neighborhood. Poor customer service. Had a safety problem with a product. Tried to call the store to help them out before there could be a potential major problem. Dialing the phone number on the store's website I spoke to what might have been a human being. She claimed she was flesh but kept repeating herself like a robot. I would not speak to me like a human. I've come and gone so many times and been disappointed more times then I care to admit. The last few times the actually had food out for lunch, who knew!!?? That's something that would be lovely around lunch time when people are hungry, to have food available. Instead of not having it out there at all or nothing hot, only salad bar during lunch. The lady who worked behind the pizza counter (who was very pleasant and cute) even commented on the fact that's it's "hit or miss w/ lunch" and works there... quiet place to enjoy food when they have something available, might wana try and do better since your in area where they wilL Have high expectations. read more

I love the convenience of this Amazon Fresh. It is not my go-to for "all" of my grocery needs as I have some groceries delivered... but I regularly pop in for several items and OFTEN find the products I pick up to be significantly cheaper than other places. The Amazon fresh store was clean and the product selection was excellent. And overall good shopping experience. However, it seemed that the technology and automation of the shopping experience is the only focus of the store. I found that customer service ,if required ,was a sorely lacking. Either the staff is not present in the store to provide customer service or is poorly trained to provide customer service. There is a fresh meat counter with a staff member manning the position, but had no answers about the fresh meat available at the counter. At the deli counter, the staff member seemed to pay to be more interested in her required to break then customer service. I placed an order for a sliced deli meats, and was not asked how I wanted it sliced. The staff member at the deli proceeded to slice the meat with no interaction with the customer. As she was halfway through slicing, and I commented on how I wanted the deli meat sliced. She never bothered to again ask or show me the slice she was making I believe that this store needs to do a better job training the staff that is present in customer service. read more
