Trader Joe's needs to teach a master class on how to run a grocery store. They are definitely the best in hiring really nice, hardworking, and friendly individuals. I have never met someone at a Trader Joe's that wouldn't go out of their way to help a customer. The food is delicious! They have lots of fresh fruit and veggies. The Employees are constantly packing those aisles with fresh produce. I really like their cheese section. I always get the feta cheese, baby Brie cheese, and Gouda cheese. They are priced so reasonably. I love their snack section and I load up on nuts, dried fruits, chips, pretzels and cookies. You can't go wrong with Trader Joe's snacks. I also buy their muffins and breads. They have a sourdough bread that is amazing. The scones are really good too. Don't forget the lemon cookies, they taste like lemon meringue pie. Yum! The store is clean, well organized, and well stocked. If they don't have a product you need, they will let you know when it is coming in. Great food and excellent selection, fabulous employees, good prices, why would you go anywhere else? read more

The sample corner is back in business! (But I didn't find the coffee sampler.) And no more hard coffee candies. But this one is preferable to the one in North Bethesda because it seems to have more parking spaces and getting back onto Rockville Pike can take a while, especially on Saturdays. And unless you like parking in underground garages, you can give the downtown Rockville TJ's a pass (formerly Dawson's Market). Store is clean and well-stocked, and they always seem to have staff restocking the shelves. Cashiers are friendly and efficient - they'll call you over to one of their lanes if they're open (and the lanes are named after local roadways for convenience). Just be careful turning into the lot from Travilah and Route 28 - the first driveway is exit-only!! read more

I was only in the neighborhood for something else but had to visit this place. It was a Sunday morning, and the area was busy including the store. I grabbed just a few items: plantain chips, some cuts of mango, a few fruit bars, a sandwich wrap with turkey breast and cranberry stuffing among other items. I also got something I would never normally go for - mandarin orange chicken. It was a last-minute purchase in which I gave in because of a Trader Joe's sign I saw - haven't tried it yet but sounds like it will be good. I'm not sure I like the fruit bars, but I loved the sandwich and plantain chips for sure. The mango cuts I have had before and will always get that when I am in the vicinity. Until next time. Of course, TJ is always so much fun. I love browsing all the aisles. Currently while I am writing this review we are in the middle of bird flu so they are limiting one dozen of eggs per person. Aim to get here before 11am to get eggs. Otherwise no eggs for you. This parking lot is tight. So brace yourself for some speedy drivers that do not know how to park between the white lines and think we are in a grand theft auto. read more

I did some quick research online and picked up some popular items and some items that looked interesting. I got multiple items but I feel like it's easiest to review it in tiers. Favs: - Fresh pancake bread - Joes joes chocolate vanilla cream cookies Decent: - Frozen chocolate chip hold the cones - Frozen hatch chile Mac n cheese - Frozen pretzel Bread pudding - Frozen 4 chocolate croissants - Frozen double chocolate croissants They're alright: - Frozen sublime ice cream sandwiches - Frozen gluten & dairy free home style pancakes - Fresh squeezed tangerine juice Wouldn't get it again: - Frozen mandarin orange chicken - Pineapple juice - Fresh squeezed limeade juice Overall, Trader Joe's is pretty good but I feel like it's a bit overrated. I stop in here every once in a while for my favorite Trader Joe's finds. It's always clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I love the organization and the tidy shelves as I recognize that it's not easy to keep a tidy store. The location isn't super convenient for me, but obviously works for many. Love this Trader Joe's location and I appreciate the hard working crew! I have never had issues finding what I need and it's a well organized store. Kids (or anyone really) can look for the store mascot, Mr. Biggels (a large, brown, stuffed bear in a Hawaiian shirt) and get a lollipop from the crew afterwards. I frequent this TJ's location relatively often as it's the closest one to where I live. I have no issues with the store itself - it's just like any other location I've been into: the set up is fine, but it's super busy all the time (like every TJ's), so it can be a bit difficult and annoying to maneuver around the store to get what you need. The food items are always of quality - I don't think I've ever gotten anything that was expired, moldy, or in poor condition (which happens often enough at other grocers). The staff is also quite friendly and helpful, and they always know where to find items and are generally just good humans to speak to and enjoy a quick chat while you check out (if you're into that kind of thing). My biggest complaint about this location is the parking situation. This TJ's is located in kind of a strangely situated shopping "center", and the parking is just a little wonky for my particular taste. The entrance and exit situation is annoying, and because it's TJ's, you're always in danger of almost clipping pedestrians in the parking lot because people are just coming and going all over the place all the time! I wrote a check so Christopher P, from the service desk came over to help and approve the check. I always get great service with wonderful service from the employees at the Trader Joe's on Darnestown Road. Lots if fresh produce and other tasty food stuffs. I also picked up an interesting, low sugar chocolate covered cocoa bean. I was able to grab ingredients to make pizza too. The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you need anything, they typically take you to it. One of them told me a story about a customer who wanted to know how much sodium was in a carrot. The staff person was kind enough to google it for the customer. The customer complained that the package only included carrot as an ingredient. Well guess what, that's a good thing and is what's required. They have a good amount of checkers, so no line on the way out. read more

This is the relocated TJs which is out of the way for me. So why the 3 stars? Im glad you asked, parking lot! Make sure you park head facing out, or you might hit a flying car. We are in a pandemic, I get it, expect to wait 5 to 10 minutes in the hot sun, no shade to cover you. They only allow 50 people in the store which also includes employees. Its almost 6 months after the pandemic has started and they still do this, while other grocery stores have eased up on letting in more ppl at one time. MD Tjs stores don't seem to carry as much stuff as VA and DC stores. Employees here are ok. Checking is always a wait time. You can now bring your own bags, or pay 5 cents for paper bags... I do miss the samples insert frowney face emoji. Avoid coming on the weekend, stuff tends run out faster. read more

I'm not a Trader Joe's person. Literally, 100 percent no shade to anyone who is a Trader Joe's person... I just don't really get the cult-like appeal of the store. If there was one store that I would have to say has cult-like status for me... it's Costco. If someone insults Costco... I feel like personally offended. But that's neither here nor there though, the store compared to several other Trader Joe's I've found myself in is quite nice. First, let's start with the parking. Parking is ample in this shopping center. It's basically the opposite of the Bethesda/Chevy Chase Trader Joe's which has the smallest most awkward parking lot in all of Lord's creation. The store is bigger than that one as well. Things are a bit more spread out... though still quite close together ( as is Trader Joe's signature). I stopped in because I needed eggs and I just did not feel like battling the Costco crowds. I did find that Trader Joe's has it's own type of Lactose free milk which was nice and unexpected. Picked up some flowers as well at the front... which... tbh Costco has a better deal on. Oh... and I got some Trader Joe's tea tree oil conditioner. Which... I don't really love. It says that it has a tingling sensation... but for me... it's sort of in between a tingling and a slight burning. Would not purchase it again. Overall, if you're looking for a solid Trader Joe's to stop by, it's a really nice one. The store is newer and you can definitely tell by the cleanliness and the openness. I was a little disappointed that I only saw unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a few organic produce but the service was quick. As a brand, I like this place. It has a good selection of organic and non processed foods. They may be on the more expensive side, but if you are aiming for a specific type of diet, you will likely find amenable food items here that would help with it. They have the unique selections of goods that you just don't really find anywhere else so coming here may be necessary - even for a short run. The part I really do not enjoy when I come here is the parking. It is inside a rather older and smaller shopping center that has been here for decades. They are trying to redo and uplift the place, but the parking lot just does not keep up. The lanes are smaller than usual and there is just so many people at any given time of the day. It makes coming here a bit stressful even more so than Costco. I have almost gotten hit several times and people squeezing through cars with their bags or carts put a scratch on my car. Now, if I ever have to come here, I just park far or in the back. The traffic light closest to this place is a bit long and it takes some time. However, the inside it rather nice. It is well lit. It seems big, but when compared to their other locations, it is actually smaller. I only come here when it is absolutely necessary. read more

I love that they put a Trader Joe's in the area! Before, I would have to drive to Rockville pike if I wanted to go to Trader Joe's. It's a small grocery store, but don't let the size fool you. They have great snacks and their prices are really cheap because it's mostly Trader Joe's brand foods that they sell there. The produce is fresh, and they have seasonal flowers at a great price. I personally love their cookie butter-it's made out of speculoos cookies and it's AMAZING. Their vanilla and chocolate macarons taste like they came from a local bakery. I also love their frozen aisle section has a variety of vegan/vegetarian options to choose from, and is even paleo friendly. I saw that they have frozen cauliflower crust to make pizzas from. This will definitely be my go-to neighborhood grocery store from now on! read more

They sadly closed the Gaithersburg location which is near my home but it's conveniently close to my office which is a huge plus for any last minute lunch ideas! I was lucky enough to find parking in front of the store (warning: the parking is hideous in this shopping center). Spacious and organized, it reminds me of the TJ in D.C. I've never had issues with their customer service before until yesterday. I came up to a young girl and asked if they had more of the corn and quinoa salad in the back since there was only one left on the shelves. She didn't bother to check and told me they ran out and it'll be fully stocked in the morning. I'm always about getting a second opinion and asked another employee. He was nice enough to check the stock in the back. He came out with five salads and I explained what just happened and that it was unacceptable. This location has only been opened for a few days and I didn't expect the lack of customer service on her part. I'm a loyal customer at Trader Joe's and I was a bit disappointed with this experience. It's exciting to see a Trader Joe's open in the neighborhood. I had heard of opening day parking rush but today it was nice and open. Right at the opening time there $2.99 flowers were already gone. At Trader Joe's when something is out of stock you just smile and think maybe next time:) you will be on time. Spicy Dry Mango was one kid's request. The other kid wanted to come with us and explore every corner. I headed to the Aloe Vera drink that I hate drinking but think had some magical medical powers for the stomach. The Superfood pilaf, Chipotle quesadillas, Quinoa and brown rice pasta..... The only thing that's mundanely available everywhere was the yogurt low fat and the bananas. Beware the bananas are .25c each. We got 4 for a dollar, we may have gotten 5 at another store Trader Joe's excelled at customer service in this store. There are well prepared for the opening rush. Loved using my phone to pay using Google Pay. There's a nice alcove for you sir and eat what you just bought. The opening of this store will definitely have have a positive impact on this strip mall. But what about Giant that's a few steps away. read more

Today I was shopping picked up all my tasty treats for the Super Bowl . While waiting patiently for the cashier to check out her Asian Masked Customer the cashier took the time to painfully check to make sure her dozen eggs were not cracked I was super impressed! Maybe this customer is known to be a PIA . The Customer left with her Groceries and it was my turn "yayyy" Cashier asked if I wanted bags I did . Having just joined a vegan Trader Joe's Facebook page I couldn't wait to stop in. This was my first time at this location and overall it was nice. As always the parking lot sucked but for a Friday at 4:45pm there were a lot of open spots. The store appeared to be well stocked and I was able to locate everything on my list. I enjoyed the cheesecake sample in the back, and while I didn't purchase it... I probably will if I have an upcoming event. I noticed a couple of staff members assisting other customers always nice to see a store that is well staffed. During check out the process was easy and took less than 5 minutes. It might have some "bee, bop, ba-dum" bears in it, have "Trader Joe's is the best, oh the best" lyrics, and I might even throw in some percussion, except I don't sing. So, you'll have to settle for this description: If you have been living under a rock, or maybe just not from this Country (perhaps?) Trader Joe's is ah-mazing. Be it the endless items you can't get elsewhere (at other Grocery stores like their own-made trail mixes, frozen foods, ice creams, and Cookie Butter!), or the cheaper prices (compared to Whole Foods and the like), or stickers they generously and happily hand out to my tot (our family loves TJ's), Trader Joe's is your happy medium between Whole Foods and Giant/Target. The employees are always friendly and helpful here. The only downside to this new location is that the parking lot is small and a pain to maneuver. LOVE the new TJ location! Thank you! read more

Although I'm not pleased with the location change (they could have just built a new one on this site in North Potomac and left the old one at the shopping center in Gaithersburg), the service and quality are the same as you would expect from every Trader Joe's. It was about a half hour before closing time and despite busying themselves with stocking shelves and preparing to close the store, I was still able to get friendly and attentive service from the store staff in finding what I needed. I am absolutely obsessed with their watermelon mint tea. I tried it on a whim last year and discovered that it makes the absolute best iced tea. I've been visiting Trader Joe's stores from coast to coast stocking up on this stuff before it goes off the shelves again and I was very pleased to see that they had exactly what I needed. The shopping center they are now located in has ample parking, including about a dozen parking spaces directly in front of the store. I think the the location is great, but again I would have preferred that they had not closed the one in Gaithersburg at all, so that I wouldn't have to go that far out of my way to get what I need. read more

I love this Trader Joe's. This location is close to some of the other errands so I always stop in between. The staff is always friendly and super helpful. I've been in plenty interesting conversations while checking out and doesn't feel forced. Although I can spend all of my time roaming through all of the aisles, there are must see sections here 1. First stop, flowers and/or plants. Great prices, great looking flowers. Also got my wreath from TJs this year. 2. The frozen food section. They have some of the best selection of frozen food. Frozen food has a bad rep, but any Trader Joe's fan knows that doesn't apply here. 3. The spices section. They have some fave spices that are unfortunately seasonal, so always gotta check to see what's in stock. 4. Snack aisle is a must. Love their snacks. Some things to keep in mind is the store is relatively small to other grocery stores, so during peak hours it gets crowded. But I've been in smaller. But that hasn't stopped me from going in and grabbing some essentials and a little extra. If you haven't been to Trader Joe's, go explore. read more

The new location is sparkly, bigger, and less scary. Then again, I went on a weekend and I might take the latter back. However, going on a weekday during the AM or day, parking is light and plentiful and you don't quite feel just how tight those spaces are like during the weekend. They localized the checkout with signs that refer to our local streets (i.e. Shady Grove Rd., Travilah Rd, Sam Eig Hwy). I'm super excited. Produce and meat are fresh. The new Trader Joe's location on Darnestown Road (opened Sept. 2018) is a very welcome sight. I had hoped that the parking situation would be better compared to its predecessor. Sadly, it's still pretty tight and shares a parking lot with several other businesses. However, I personally find it more convenient and the area generally less hectic. In terms of the layout of the store, it's your typical Trader Joe's store. The weekends and evening hours can be a little insane, but the availability of products seems to have improved. I always had a problem finding popular items at the old location in stock on Sunday evenings (i.e. cauliflower gnocchi, frozen chocolate-covered strawberries, frozen Mandarin orange chicken, etc.) The dry goods aisles also seem a bit wider, which is a fantastic improvement since no one seems to know how to pull their cart over when they need to leave it. (Why do people just stop and leave their carts in the middle of the aisle like that? Don't think I won't move it!) The employees are as friendly and as helpful as ever! The samples are as tasty and as tempting as ever! And that return policy cannot be beat! (Warning: Please don't abuse it people.) Thank you TJ's for changing locations so I can visit more often and won't be tempted to go to Marshall's as much (aka "Do I need new towels? Oooo, bamboo straws! I definitely need those!") Overall I am a fan of Trader Joe's. However during my last visit, something that I never experienced before occurred. I got charged for more bags that I actually used. It is not about the money, it is about the principle. Was it contempt for using disposable bags? Was it retaliation? Neglect? I understand that stores are subject to fines when they don't charge for disposable bags. Shouldn't they then be fined when they charge for bags that were not used. read more

I attribute this to the popularity of the just opened business. I really like the layout. The aisles appeared wider than my local TJs. I look forward to visiting this location often. This was my first time at Trader Joe's. While I had an idea of what to expect I was actually very surprised at the great variety and affordable prices at the store. We came here looking for 1 or 2 things but ended up buying most of our weekly groceries! The vegetables they have are fresh! Even I'm the afternoon, everything seemed like it was just placed on the shelfs. Moving onto meats, there is a wide variety to select from. We typically eat chicken so purchased a marinated and non marinated chicken option (they both tasted great!). Lastly, the number of non traditional brand name products are fantastic. The bread, jams, snacks, etc is awesome! We can't wait to return next time! It would be a 5 start review but there were a few things missing in the frozen section :( wish they would keep a few in reserve in the back and bring them out in the afternoon. read more
