I briefly started getting my hair cut by a curly girl specialist but I always came back to David for the shape. I have been seeing David for over 10 years. I met him when my hair was down to my waist. He carried me through the emotional roller coaster of a pixie cut and back to a perfect curly bob. He can literally do anything and do it well. I always find myself enjoying the music and I appreciate the quality products he both sells and uses. I appreciate his work so much that he now cuts everyone's hair in my family! A friend with an undercut & thick hair initially recommended the owner Nicole, but stopped seeing her after one too many botched fades. Ten months ago, instead of the fade I requested, Nicole buzzed a ring around my ears and cut the rest of the area to #3 length. It looked awful. After that, I gave up & settled for "comb length" on the sides because it looked okay. I know lowering expectations is a red flag, but Nicole was pretty good at layering my thick hair ...until my last visit. Nicole cut my hair dry then colored it. She never showed me the back. At home, I noticed it looked crooked but wasn't sure because of how she styled it. When I washed it a few days later, I cried. It was so crooked when wet and looked worse after flat ironing it. My husband said, "I'm no stylist, but that's crooked AF." I called the salon in tears & told the receptionist what my husband said (minus the AF). I texted the first photo attached to this review. Nichole received the photo, heard my husband's quote, and said we needed to "part ways" because I'd badmouthed her to the receptionist (her words). Including the $30 tip, I paid $175 for a root touch up, cut, and style. The color was ok. Nicole refunded $55 for the cut. No refund for the styling or 20% tip. It feels like I've been dumped by a mediocre boyfriend. For years, I made excuses for the underwhelming haircuts. "Maybe it's the coarse texture of my hair. Thick hair is difficult to cut. It'll look better when it grows out a bit. I must've chosen a bad style." I have 4 holiday parties to attend in the next 2 weeks and I just want to cry.
