Well, the stylists are great. But no one is ever ever on time. Waiting is not a problem but the owner never ever acknowledges I'm waiting. Frankly it's incredibly rude. A simple courtesy acknowledgement that I am there waiting or a text that he's behind would be client friendly but he has never ever done that. I've waited up to one hour frequently with no apology. It's unreal. Maybe that's why he sold the business- either the games made him enough money to retire or the games hit his business hard enough he had to. I am blown away. Jewels was my hairstylist and I could have not asked for someone better. I had my hair cut at Ulta in March and it was awful. The guy used too much mousse, it wasn't what I wanted, and it was over $100!!! I've been growing my hair out but by bit for the last three years and thought nervously that it was time for a chop. I had pictures ready and everything, but when I saw her, I just gave her an idea. Medium length, highlights my eyes and waves, with volume and minimal styling. GUYS. It was only $60 and considering the look of the place I thought it was gonna be so much higher. She washed my hair, cut it with absolute precision for a whole hour, made wonderful conversation, stayed past closing time to style and blow dry it, and she DESERVED that tip I gave her. Wow. I called Salon Prive asking when I would be able to get in within the next couple of days. The woman on the phone said she had availability right then, If I could get there quickly. I hopped in the car, and got there just in time! Laurie was my stylist and she cut about 10 inches off of my hair, and gave me a much needed brow wax. Laurie was great, and I am very happy with my brows and my hair cut. The salon itself was very open, bright and clean. I will be going back the next time I need my hair cut, and I would definitely recommend Salon Prive to anyone! read more

Just moving here from AL I was nervous to find a new stylist. Honestly, probably one of the worst parts of moving for me. I found the salon via yelp. I made an appointment and they set me up with Micheal. He was FABULOUS! I came in greasy hair and hella roots and left feeling fresh and fab! He did a wonderful job with my foils and cut. He's very personable, talented and just a cool guy. My color looks great....not everyone can make my blonde as blonde as I want to be. I rebooked with him before I left. Where do I even start? I was so nervous going here because it was my first ever haircut in a salon! (My mom has always cut my hair) The staff here were all so reassuring and helped my calm my nerves. Jewels was my stylist and she was amazing!! She talked me through what I was envisioning, looked at pictures and made sure I was comfortable before even starting to cut. I usually go to another salon but my hair stylist flaked out on me last second, so on a whim I called up Salon Prive to see if anyone was available for a color. This was at 6:30pm and the other random salons close to me had already said they were full, and I had to get my hair done since I am leaving town tomorrow for a month. Next thing I know, the receptionist tells me someone is available and can take me right away! ! I get there and I liked it as soon as I stepped through the door. Everyone was friendly and my stylist, Michael, was already waiting for me. The salon feels like a spa, with white walls/furniture and plants, but it also has a hip industrial look to it. All I got done was my hair color changed from ombre to my original color, but Michael did an excellent job with making it match perfectly. He left my roots/top half of my natural hair untouched (by my request) so I could truly see that it was perfect match. He was easy to talk to and made the experience a great one. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist. The owner is always around and a joy to speak with as well. I just relocated to St. Louis from NYC and decided to give Salon Prive a try given the positive reviews on Yelp. I'm glad I did! When calling to book an appointment, the gentleman on the line was super nice and helpful in answering my questions. I asked for Michael given he recieved outstanding reviews but he informed me that Michael had left the salon and industry altogether. I told him exactly what I wanted done (full foil platinum blonde highlights and a cut) and he said that Mandy would be perfect. Mandy was immediately welcoming and a blast to converse with during my appointment! She listened to exactly what I wanted and then took her time to give me a fresh look! She takes a lot of pride in her work and it's obvious that she wants to create a masterpiece for you. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was a bit more pricey than I am used to (and I'm coming from NYC where you pay top dollar for most things). Full highlights, haircut and dry was $153 (excluding tip). I'm used to all of this plus a glaze in NY for about $136 so was naturally disappointed because I would assume that salons in STL would be much cheaper than a place like NY. But all aside, the quality and experience were top notch! I highly recommend and ask for Mandy - you will love her beautiful work, personality and can't miss her when you walk in- she rocks bright pink hair, tats, and a sassy fun attitude to go along with it! :) read more

Yelp reviews are so great! I was looking for a Salon after 3 years of self care neglect. As soon as I saw the 5 star reviews I called Salon Prive', left a message about making an appointment, and was called back shortly after. I was able to get in the same day and was so happy with everything. The Salon has a very "cool" vibe, with modern industrial style and beautiful station lighting. Laura was the stylist who cut my hair EXACTLY like I had wanted it. I showed a few pictures to her in hopes it would be something close, it wasn't close - it was precisely what I had imagined. A day at the salon should be a pampered, relaxing experience. When I think of the possibilty of cutting my hair or contemplating a new color, it brings out the anxiety bear in me. Thank goodness for Salon Prive. When you first walk in you are greeted by someone is genuinely interested in assisting you and not on the phone smacking gum. The lounge area is comfortable with plenty of style magazines to get the wheels turning on a new style or color. Once you get to the stylist chair, the consultation is more than what the stylist wants to do but more about you, your lifestyle, hair condition and suggestions on what is most appropriate for the visit. When you see someone with fried hair and they actually go to a salon, you know they have NOT been to Salon Prive. My hair was so damaged by another "professional" in the industry by the time I visited Xavier that I thought I would have to live with being bald or damn near it. Xavier through proper consuling and amazing product knowledge has brought my hair and my sanity back to life. My hair is finally able to be colored. Xavier suggests a demi or temporary color from Paul Mitchell so I will be back in the next few weeks to go expresso brown. Yeah! Love Salon Prive. I have been coming to Salon Prive for about a year now and I cannot say enough good things about the Salon and my stylist, Janna!! The salon is high end with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Everything is always clean and pristine every time I go there for an appointment. I ended up coming here after having my hair chopped and wacked off by another stylist that I had been seeing for over 7 years. So my anxiety level on my first vist was quite high. The amount of time that Janna spent "consulting" with me before even touching my hair immediately put all my fears to rest. She was able to wade through the mess called my hair and get me out the door looking pretty again. My normal services there are hair coloring, cuts and eyebrow waxing and I feel beautiful every time I leave there. Janna is an extremely gifted stylist, especially with my hair cuts as my hair has wacky cow licks and can be difficult to work with. In fact, I've told her that my haircuts are the best I've had in my entire life! I would HIGHLY recommend Janna and Salon Prive to anyone who will listen! I am a horrible person who cannot commit to a hair stylist. I bounce between 2-3 salons and visit new ones on occasion. I decided to try Prive after driving by it for months. I had a really great experience here! I loved that they were open late so I could set an appointment after work. My appointment started on time, the salon was clean and fun, and I've gotten lots of compliments on my hair. Price wise I think I paid $60 or so for a cut and blow dry. Not bad! I'd definitely add this place to my roation of salons. My only complaint is the parking; it is a very small, tight lot. Haircut by Rachel. She is relatively new. She was very sweet and professional. The salon is clean and nice, and everyone was welcoming The haircut I received, though, was really below standard. I have been seeing Jana for several years now and would never let anyone else touch my hair. When I first started seeing Jana, I had really short hair and had been wanting to grow it out for years but would only get about 1 haircut in before cutting it again because I couldn't stand the "in between" stage. After I started seeing Jana, I was able to grow the cut out without any "growing pains"...she knew exactly how to work with my curls while it was growing out. Jana always knows exactly what she is doing and how to make my curly hair look great. Jana always listens to me about how I was able to deal with my previous cut and makes adjustments, if necessary, so that I can handle it at home by myself. Jana is a genius with color. I trust Jana so much that when I'm in the mood for a change (color and/or cut) and can't decide what I want, I will let her do what she wants. I've never once regretted doing this. The salon itself has a hip feel, and the rest of the stylists are very friendly. I always feel welcome there. I loved my stylist (Lucy) who guided me to a wonderful cut and color, and went out of her way (stayed late when I did a walk in) to help me feel great. I found Xavier over 15 years ago by walking up to a woman on the street who looked fantastic and asking her who cut her hair. It was the best advertisement there is and I have never been disappointed. After changing salons once or twice because of the distance I had to travel I ended up back here with Xavier and I'll never change again. Every person in this salon is warm and friendly. I consider it a 'high end' salon and I've hit the big ones around town. You'll never get treated badly by a receptionist here and the service is fantastic. it is a great atmosphere and additionally, Xavier and Janna really, really know their stuff. I work for a large company and I have to look good everyday. They take care of that for me. These people are true professionals who want you to be happy and look great! read more
