My dog hates anything that needs to be done at a groomers. From walking on smooth flooring, to getting her nails clipped, to baths, and all the way through to getting blow dried. That being said, everyone at Amber's is always very sweet to her. My pup has very short hair, so we usually wash her ourselves, however there was one occasion, following a camping trip, she needed some professional help. The employees at Amber's assured us that the mess of a dog we brought in would not be a problem. Also, upon picking her up, they noted that they noticed that she did not like the blowdryer so they did not complete the blowdrying process. I REALLY appreciated that they took notice of this and took care to make sure my pup was happy. read more

Originally I had no intention of posting a review even though it was a horrible experience because the owner did contact me and apologize for the way that my dog was treated but after doing a full look over of him I've changed my mind. We took my 95lbs German Shepherd to get groomed which ended up costing us $85.49 (insanely overpriced). In the 6.5 hours that they had him they didn't give him any water or let him out so that he could go to the restroom. He was so worked up and anxious when we got him home that it took about an hour for him relax and calm down. They said they would "round out" his nails which they didn't., only half of them were even cut and they did a terrible job of it. They said that they cleaned his ears out which they most definitely didn't. My dog is extremely well mannered, normally I do all his grooming, I've just been working a lot and thought he'd enjoy going since he even gets excited about going to the vet. They also use a furminator there which personally I don't approve of and wish that my husband or I would have been informed of it beforehand because we don't use anything that shears our dogs coat. As far as I'm concerned saying that this entire interaction was "human error" and then offering to credit my account $20 in the future doesn't level the playing field. I have a Sheltie. A really friggen furry, tangled Sheltie who hates being brushed. I've resorted to shaving her most years as an easy way out. I turned to Amber's Grooming Salon as a place to end the shaving madness. They did a wonderful job! When I picked Sesame up she not only looked great, but was she was happy! The initial grooming seemed pricey, but after doing research, this price is reasonable. Especially considering the level of tangles, undercoat, and compacted fur on her body. For whatever reason, my dog LIKES being brushed now. She used to yelp and snap at me, but NO MORE. I'll be back. read more

I loved this place. The customer service was fantastic! We had both of our large dogs bathed and nails trimmed. We were also moving that day so we happened to be late to drop them off and really late to pick them up. She was super polite about it even though she had every right to be upset. I feel bad about leaving a bad review but my poor puppy has been humiliated. Also, I would like to point out that the staff at Ambers were very friendly. Normally I take my 6-month-old Havapoo puppy Poppy to Petco and they do a fantastic job. However, I couldn't make it to Moscow so I gave Ambers a shot, well never again. I asked to go a bit shorter but no more than a 1/2 guard and to keep her head the same shape. Poppy has always been very happy with groomers but when I picked her up she was shaking and crying. Her fur was shorn off nearly to the skin, using a 1/4 guard, and all in different directions, her face was unrecognizable. my puppy looked aged and naked. It was 25 degrees that day and it will take until well into the winter for her coat to grow back. Ever since then she has been so sad, and hides from me and my roommate. I'm not sure which "breed standard" was used for my pup, but Jesus it wasn't the right one. read more

My girlfriend takes my Cane Corso and her Border Collie mix to Amber's on a monthly basis. It's usually never more than $35 per dog. I picked up only my girlfriend's dog and they charged me $60. I voiced my frustrations and all the groomer said was, "We got a lot of hair off of her today." I trust Amber's with my dog and she treats the dogs well, however $60 for one medium sized dog is ridiculous. It's good service but not $60 worth. I would recommend Amber's to friends but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if my Cane Corso didn't go back. read more

Thank you so much to the staff at Amber's Grooming! From drop off to pick up, leaving my newfoundland, Larry, at Amber's was an amazing experience. I dropped by the Salon with Larry to schedule an appointment. I met DJ - who looked over Larry and gave me an estimate for what I wanted done, and was able to schedule an appointment later that week. The morning of his appointment, DJ sat down with me, went over all of the options they have for grooming. He did not try and up-sell things, he only recommended things that were appropriate for Larry's hair coat and needs and explained to me why they would benefit him, and why other things were not needed. He was extremely personable and friendly - I felt great about leaving Larry in their care for the day. When I picked him up later that afternoon - I couldn't believe it. I have never seen such a clean cut, handsome, happy Newfoundland in my life (I may be bias, but its true :) ). I was almost in tears! Larry was SO happy to be there. I talked to Amber upon pick up, she let me know things went and how he did. The best part was that he was so happy, he was jumping up on the half wall to give her loves, and jumping all over the place/people (sorry guys!!) out of extreme happiness. We've been to a few different groomers here on the Palouse and Amber's is by far the best! Our husky always has a big undercoat and they always get it out. Other groomers always left spots that I'd have to brush out when I got home, so I know Amber and her staff take the time to do a great job. The prices are competitive and I know they'll do the best job! We are lifetime customers for sure! read more

I used to live in Pullman, and Amber's was the only place that I would take my dogs to be bathed and groomed. The service was always professional, the facilities clean and well kept, my dog was always well looked after and the staff was great. Having lived in Pullman for several years, I'd tried (or, attempted to try --see my other groomer review) other grooming facilities. For my money, nowhere else even came close to giving me the service and my dog the respect that Amber's did. Very happy to recommend them! read more

I have two poor experiences to write about. I made an appointment for my puppy for her very first grooming. I was told I could drop her off in the morning and return that afternoon to pick her up. I arrived at the designated time and all they had done was given her a bath and brushed her out. I had to stand and wait while they clipped her nails. So my puppy did not get her hair cut at all! I gave Amber's the benefit of the doubt and booked another appointment for a FULL grooming. Again, I arrived at the designated time to pick her up and again she was not groomed. Amber told me that my puppy had been sick all day, so all they could do was give her a bath and brush her out. They did not want her around other dogs to do the haircut, in case she was actually sick (she actually just had a anxious/nervous stomach). Which makes no sense at all to me...she was still around the other animals all day. They could bathe her but not do a full groom? Most importantly if they thought my dog was sick why was I not notified immediately? Seriously, she possibly needed to be brought to the vet. Needless to say I was furious when I picked her up. I will never bring another animal to Amber's nor will I recommend this business to anyone. read more
