My husband had a piece of metal stuck in his tire that could only hold a temporary patch. He stopped into a nearby tire store and was told he would have to purchase two new tires not just one at an approximate cost of $609. He went to Ambler tire and the owner said he would order the matching tire and it might be a day or two til it came in. The office is spic and span clean and the owner and his wife couldn't be nicer. The tire replaced and balanced for $239 and it was a pleasant experience from start to finish. Will definitely come back for all of our tires going forward. read more

When I moved to Ambler years ago I came to Ambler Tire Co. because I was a AAA (triple A) member and they are triple A approved and advertise as such! It is a cozy shop, always inviting, and seems to have the same people working there. You will not be lost in a crowd here, which is nice. I have gone here for state inspections and emissions, and cost was what you would expect for service and repair. I did not feel gipped or ripped off, and he recognized problems with my car that I too was aware of. I will definitely go back. read more

I moved to the area about two years ago, and I needed to find a new mechanic. I called around to five different places looking to schedule an oil change. Since my first oil change over two years ago, I have brought my car to Ambler Tire for safety/emissions inspection, alignment work, and new tires. When I called Ambler Tire, the owner (Dave) answered and I requested an oil change. I gave him the year, make, and model of my car. He instantly said I would need the synthetic oil which is more expensive than standard oil. I said that's okay because I know my car manual recommends synthetic oil. When I called the other four places, they gave me a price for a standard oil change and didn't even ask for what type of car. I asked what if I need synthetic oil and they said it would be 2-3 times as much as the standard oil change. Based on those phone calls, I immediately decided on Ambler Tire which seemed to be the most knowledgeable, experienced, and actually cared about my car. After calling around to multiple shops, Ambler Tire is not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Their prices are right in the middle. I am okay paying a little more to know that my car is in good hands. read more

I have used Ambler tire as my car repair shop for 2 years now. I always believed in the integrity of the shop and believed in their honesty. Today, I took my car to check a tire because my tire was almost flat. Ok, so they found I had driven over a nail and thankfully they were able to repair it right away. But guess what they charged to patch it? $38!!! I am a loyal customer and also bought these tires from them! I feel like they overcharged me for this service. They really should rethink their policy. There is no need to gouge loyal customers for a simple repair job that took 10 minutes. I will have to rethink my loyalty to this shop. read more

Love this place! Dave, the owner is always there, always attentive and HONEST. Today I took my car in for a nail in the tire . I had an appointment and he was right there waiting when I pulled up. Did the job quickly and the best part is that the nail, which I had left in the tire, was so short that there was no puncture and NO charge! How many people would refuse to take money for their time? I have also ordered tires from Tire Rack and had them shipped here. Great, courteous installation and right across from the Ambler Train station, so you could commute into town while your car is getting stuff done. My husband is very fussy and he has had inspection and tire work done here as well as oil changes. We are very happy with Ambler Tire. Nice waiting room, and a short walk to two different coffee places in Ambler. They are open Sat til about 12:30 too. read more

Their service is excellent and their location is very convenient, but the last time I used them, one of their fees struck me as high ($120 for the computer scan bc my check engine light was on). So I called three other shops to ask how much they would charge, and the highest price I got was $60 -- half! This is price gouging as far as I'm concerned, and I won't be back. read more

In searching for a reputable and local, independent shop to get my daughter's '04 BMW 325xit serviced (oil change and state inspection), I ran across Amber Tire & Auto. I noticed that they were AAA approved, and that the ratings/reviews looked decidedly positive. I called and was able to schedule an appointment in very short order; and would even be able to wait for the car to be finished. They took my car in on time, and I was out in a little under 90 mins. Price was fair and work done well. They were willing and able to answer my questions when my car was done. Visit was nothing but positive. Next time, I'll use my AAA card...This time I didn't even think about it, but they offer a discount on labor, it appears for AAA members. They are also a stone's throw from the train station, so hopping on the train would be convenient if I had to leave the car. I'll be back for sure. Waiting area was comfortable and a good place to get some work done. (They have WiFi available, too.) read more
