Very disappointed. Calamari was cold, fettuccine alfredo was barely warm and the noodles were broken into small pieces. My husband was served the wrong dish and the waitress, who wasn't very attentive, attempted to blame him until she finally checked her "notes." I was really looking forward to eating here based on reviews. We haven't eaten pasta in a year, on a low carb diet, and decided to indulge for my birthday. A very, very sad meal for a celebration. Came to Ambrosia on a Friday night and I would definitely recommend getting reservations. The service was great and the food came out quickly. I got a cucumber salad and it was delicious and then the fettuccine Alfredo which was ok but definitely lacked seasoning and just didn't have a whole lot of flavor. Along with the bread though I was stuffed. One complaint with the actual restaurant though was that it was extremely warm. I actually got a bit of a headache because I got so warm by the end of the meal. Overall pretty good place in Broad Ripple. read more

I LOVE this restaurant !! Even when I have not been 100% pleased they have pulled out all the stops, in terms of Customer Service, and have blown me off my feet !!! Tonight I was being served by my favorite bartender, Chelsea. She is an excellent server. My guy Chess was there making sure the restaurant was operating like they didn't have a care in the world. There is not one aspect of this business I do not think is exceptional (bread, food, wine, Service....) I started with an App that was Shrimp wrapped in Prosciutto. It was outstanding. It was a little salty, but it's pork !! What did you expect?? The meal was Pasta Mare (Clams, Mussels, Shrimp, Squid). This has been my favorite ever since I discovered this restaurant. Some nights the sauce is that exact spot where the flavor is optimal. It is red sauce at that perfect moment when it is just outstanding. Italian at it's best. When you hit that night, it is a true culinary delight. Tonight was not that night. The sauce was a little dull and the pasta was a little starchy. That said, my dining experience was outstanding. They have a fabulous wine menu, a GREAT dessert offering (the Cannoli's are as good as anything I have ever had on the East Coast (I am originally from outside NYC). Came here for my birthday dinner. Got a Cesar salad, and the Gamberi dish. I think that's how it's spelled. It was delish. Service was great. Have been here in the past and had a somewhat positive experience. However we went Friday November 29th and had a poor experience. Our chicken Parmesan came out not only dry but Luke warm. Our waiter was fairly new and had major difficulties servicing our table. We had asked for extra sauce and he delivered it after we had finished our meal. He did not offer us desert so 3 of our guests requesting some and he did not take orders for the rest of the table. We also had difficulty with the wine service. I'm not sure what could be better about Ambrosia. The food is delicious - I tend towards the panna with a goat cheese appetizer. The service is top notch - my favorite time was discussing Italy travels with an authentic Italian waiter. I have never had a bad meal, and the only time I ever heard one of my friends complain (a grand total of one person out of dozens in 10+ visits) their food was replaced promptly to their satisfaction. My family and I went to Ambrosia's last night for my Father's 84 Birthday. The food was excellent! We love oysters and were pleasantly surprised with the freshness and flavor of theirs. I ordered the Bolognese as my main course, it was fabulous! Rich, flavorful but not too heavy. Our server, Chelsea, couldn't have been more knowledgeable, attentive or sweet. I went to Ambrosia for dinner last night and ordered off the devour menu. Everything I ordered was tasty but I thought what I got was very overpriced. It was a four course meal for $50. I ordered the bruschetta burrata for my first course. It came with three tiny pieces of french bread and one cherry tomato cut in half. For the second course I ordered the cesare salad, it was good but had a strong horseradish flavor. For the third course I ordered spaghetti alla verdure and added shrimp for $6. I thought the pasta was a little bland. I got the ricotta cheesecake for dessert. I ordered two aperol spritz. Probably one of the best aperol spritz I've ever had! Overall, I was disappointed with options on the devour menu and I thought it was about $10 overpriced. I wish I would have ordered off the regular menu and would have spent a lot less. read more

Really liked this place! Tried it on a whim, had some very tasty Italian food and would definitely return. The portion sizes were perfect in our opinions. Just enough - along with their nice, crusty Italian bread - without being too much. We came here on New Years Eve and without a reservation, but we snagged a seat at the bar. The waitstaff and bartender were warm and attentive, making great food and wine suggestions. The ambiance is nice and cozy. We tried the Medici pasta (chicken, artichokes, sun-dried tomato, capers, olive oil, garlic), which was very flavorful and felt light. Came here for Mother's Day dinner with my sons and we were all underwhelmed. Carpaccio is a fish made with raw meat or fish, not prosciutto which is what Ambrosia serves. The mussels tasted like mud and were inedible. The Alfredo came out looking like it had sat under a heat lamp for 10 minutes. One bright note - the lemon sorbet was fabulous and even served in a frozen lemon. We left saying we would not return. Too bad. Went out for a date and had a reservation ahead of time for 7:45 on Monday night. The outside patio was packed and inside was way less packed. Ordered salad, linguine, and cheesecake and everything was just right. Their bread and service is good and prices were reasonable for an Italian restaurant. We stopped by to have dinner at 6:30 on Saturday, and despite several tables being empty, we were told it was reservations only. We left to find something else, but checked online reservations and saw that there were openings still listed for 6:30 at Ambrosia. So either they double book reservations, or just didn't want our business. No worries because there are plenty of other places in Broad Ripple area. read more

Nice wine, really nice artichoke antipasti, great tiramisu, great olive oil and bread to dip it in, it is unforgivable though, to be charged $17 for a plate of cold ravioli that I sent back after 5 minutes of waiting to let my server know. Nice of them to box it up for me though to microwave later on. Poor service for the price. If you serve someone a bad plate, at least make it right and don't charge them for it. My husband and I ended up here for my birthday dinner after Mama Carolla's was closed for 'vacation'. It was our first trip to Ambrosia, without a reservation, around 6:15 on a Wednesday night. The friendly host quickly sat us at a table inside. The place isn't quaint and romantic like Mama's, but it has a very nice, upscale, modern décor. Our service was sort of awkward. I don't remember our server's name, but he just seemed a little thrown off for some reason. He would just come stand by our table. He didn't tell us the specials or even ask if we were ready to order, and seemed confused by questions about the menu. He never came by to check our drinks and my glass was empty twice. His attitude was pleasant, and he was definitely busy because he was working the patio as well, but for this price, service should be better. But the food was so good! Their table bread was very good, crusty Italian bread served with a somewhat spicy olive oil. We ordered a delicious side salad they had just that night, I think, which was cucumber, tomatoes, mozzarella, and olives with a nice vinaigrette. I don't remember the name of my husband's dish, but it was spaghetti with shrimp and a lightly spicy creamy tomato sauce. It was SO GOOD! My chicken parmesan was also delicious with really good red sauce; I would definitely order it again. The tiramisu was good, but didn't blow me away. We have been Ambrosia customers for several years and had dinner there last night. This was the first time I have ever left feeling disappointed. The service was excellent, as was the torta appetizer, soups and salads we ordered. However, the evening special I ordered--the $27 sea scallop entree with risotto, was a huge miss. It was salty in the extreme and the scallops were grossly overcooked and rubbery. We were celebrating a special event, so I did not complain, however, the chef should keep a better eye on the line, as shellfish are so easy to overcook. I also think salt can ruin a dish and customers should be allowed to salt to taste. We will go back to Ambrosia, but next time, I think I will stick to pasta. read more

I ordered spaghetti all carbonara and were awful. The pasta was overcooked (should be al dente), the pancetta was not crispy and I wonder about the eggs quality? Can't recommend Ambrosia enough. Starting with the Ambrosia aperitif, every course was delicious. The Delaware oysters were the best we have had outside of the Eastern seaboard. We followed with grilled baby artichokes and an absolutely special salad of the day. We shared Tortellaci, a special veal stuffed homemade pasta, which was amazing, especially paired with the Altesino supertuscan.
