The gold standard - pasta and meatballs in a red sauce
    Julia G.

This place defines the word "gem" when describing a restaurant. I grew up Italian, and for whatever that's worth, will attest to the excellent, authentic Italian dishes that sing in my mouth. You won't find wildly creative dishes here, but what they do do, they do right. Example: the meatballs are tender with a softness that shows careful handling and the traditional parsley, ground pork, beef and perhaps veal. My chicken piccata was a perfect balance of savory and tart, with the chicken carefully cooked to fork tender. I appreciated the generosity of capers and the extra step to thicken the sauce. Our server had a great personality but could have ticked up the service when she missed a few opportunities to refill our adult beverages. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't be put off by the strip-mall entrance - inside is a cozy, white tablecloth ambiance that is small enough to require a reservation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute Italian restaurant in Westfield that people have said is the closest thing to Italy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was on the north side in the area so I checked it out. It's located within a strip, but there is plenty of parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, I noticed how cute and quaint it was, all the workers were extremely friendly, and the vibe was relaxing with dim lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tables with reservations had corks hold a name in place, i loved that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Being the first time here, we asked the server for recommendations. She pretty much said everything in the menu was good, the menu isn't overly large but there were plenty of choices. I got the linguine Alfredo with shrimp and my friend got the spaghetti and meatballs. We shared a wedge salad, and the server brought it out with each half on a separate plate, that's a plus for customer service! We were told all the sauce is home made. We also got calamari for the appetizer and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious. They also give you bread to start with and it comes with 3 different spreads- butter, oil and balsamic, and an olive spread (I forgot the name but it's famous in Italy). I'm not the biggest fan of olives but that spread in the bread was delightful. I also ordered an Italian margarita, my first time, and it was refreshing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had live music arrive after we got there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you are craving some authentic Italian food and good vibes, check this place out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

You have to have reservations to get in because they are that good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Italian restaurant is small, maybe a dozen tables and a bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On Wednesday, there is live music, tonight a guitarist.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were heartedly greeted when we arrived. There is a friendly vibe from the minute you walk in. We met friends, sipped wine and talked before ordering. Wine is half price on Wednesday, so we had a bottle of their best cab, Josh Cellars. The menu is filled with traditional anti pastas, salads and pastas. Our server was friendly, described specials, made recommendations and kept water coming. She and the manager checked on us during our meal. Fresh bread comes with herbed oil, butter and an olive tapenade that is amazing. I could have made a meal on the bread. The Caesar salad is fresh and delicious with creamy Caesar dressing. I ordered Linguine with clams which came out in a buttery, lemon sauce loaded with perfectly tender clams. The linguine was delicious and I ate every morsel. My husband had the Salsiccia E Spinaci (spicy sausage with spinach and mushrooms over spaghetti). He loved it right from the start. The portions are generous. We didn't save room for dessert, unfortunately. Pasto Italiano is a wonderful experience. I am determined to try everything on the menu.

Pasto Italiano is truly a gem of a restaurant. We came across the search with positive reviews, and can't help but add another 5-star review. We arrived without reservations, but they accommodated us on the spot. Service was great and the food was epic. From warm bread and a trio of dips, to bruschetta, Caesar salad, and pasta- we loved every bite of our meal. The linguine with clams was ahhh-ma-zing! Pasto Italiano is the neighborhood restaurant that epitomizes excellence in food and in service. Pro-tip: call ahead for reservations (especially for large groups). There may be a charge for split plate- but portions are huge!

    Chicken Marsala Alla Marsala

Servers were attentive from start to finish. Regularly checked in to make sure everyone in our party of 6 (including baby)were enjoying what they had selected. My Alla Marsala was cooked perfectly and so satisfying on an unexpectedly rainy night. With my glass of red wine I consider this meal to have been a perfect choice full of amazing flavors. This was our first time at Pasto Italiano and we will definitely be planning a return trip!

They will do reservations at the bar top as well!

The service is always impeccable and the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. It just feels like a place you can settle into and actually enjoy your night together without any rush. The food is truly out of this world. I hate mushrooms with a passion, but their mushroom bisque is probably one of the best soups I have ever had. I never thought I would say that about anything with mushrooms in it. The steak served on the hot plate is also such a great touch and makes the whole experience feel even more special. And the not so famous yet chocolate cake absolutely should be, because it is divine. We always leave happy and already talking about when we can come back. We also love the Italian house they own right next door, which is another great option when we are in the mood for something different. If you are looking for a perfect date night spot that feels cozy, thoughtful, and consistently delicious, Nylas is it. We never regret going.

They were very nice, sitting us quickly after our arrival for our reservation while there were people waiting. We then sat for 20 minutes before anyone asked us if we'd been helped yet. This was as the large group to one side of us, and others, saw their server 3 or 4 times. Since we had plenty of time to read the menus we put in drinks (Rosy Cheek & Old Fashioned) and an app (zucchini fries) as well as our entrees (salmon and pork belly, both with the wedge) The drinks were good! The old fashioned was slightly smaller than I'd want for $15 but it's Westfield. The zucchini fries were ok, the breading lacked flavor and we were charged $1 for an extra 1/2 ounce of aioli. The salmon had a spicier seasoning on it than we expected, but the orzo didn't have much? The pork belly was good, maybe a little more sauce than you'd expect but the sticky rice helped get most of it sopped up. In the end, it's not somewhere we'll come back. But the quality of food was good, just maybe it wasn't their night.

It's not much to look at from the outside - in small strip mall off Fall Creek about 2 miles north of 96th, but the inside is both luxe and comfortably cozy. At just 12 tables, you get your table for the night, so there is no rush and your evening can be as long as you want to make it. They also have a gorgeous little side wine room that you can rent for parties of 6-8 for dinner. And there's a little bar area that seats maybe 4-6. We had reservations for 6pm, so there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied when we got there, but they filled throughout the night (& we left close to 8pm). Our server Shaunda was delightful, and the owner Dan came around and checked on all the tables a few times as well. We were presented with a cous cous amuse bouche, a nice refreshing bite to start the evening. Hubs had an Italian Old Fashioned and I asked our server to pair wine for me, so it was a Decoy Sauv Blanc with our first course - the mussels. We asked for extra crostinis in order to soak up more of the delicious sauce they came in. Next was the beet arugula salad, so good! For entrees, hubs had the pappardelle bolognaise and got an iced T, and I had the short ribs with risotto, paired with a glass of cab franc. Dessert was coffee (americano) for each of us, and we split the tiramisu (see all my pics). We ate and enjoyed everything! Total with tax was right at 200 before gratuity. So this is more of a splurge place for us, (of course would be less without the beverages we did) but we will be back. It was a really pleasant evening and another big win for me picking birthday places! #yum #ReviewsByRL

Yesterday, I decided that I would not be cooking dinner and instead opted to order pizza and dessert to be picked up on my way home. This is such a cute, quaint little shop located in a tiny strip mall next to a gas station. So very unassuming, yet quite impressive. I loved the two cute yellow tables and chairs out on the sidewalk as well as the Sinatra that was playing when I entered the shop. I was greeted warmly and let me say how much I value a pleasant and genuine interaction like that. Someone came to the front of the store from the kitchen in the back, and she too greeted me with a very welcoming and warm smile. This fact alone makes me want to return and support this place of business. My pizzas were prepared fresh and handed to me hot out of the oven. The deserts, an assortment of 3 different kinds of cookies as well as two slices of cake, were kept separate and cold. My husband loved the pizza (he is somewhat of a connoisseur) and I enjoyed it as well. The carrot cake was a bit dense for my liking and the pistachio ricotta was decadent. My husband really enjoyed these sweet treats as a night cap! I loved the cookies. I ordered the Peanut Butter Brownie Swirl cookie, the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie, and two of the Pistachio Thumbprint cookies. My personal favorite was the Pistachio Chocolate Crunch cookie. It had a great contrast in texture with the soft-baked cookie being perfectly complemented by the crunch of the pistachio pieces, and it wasn't overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more cookies, cakes and pastries in the future! They also carry some authentic imported Italian products, such as pomodoro sauce.
