We just tried Rosemary & Olive for the first time and wanted to share that food and service was excellent. The vibe of the old building is perfect for an Italian restaurant - feels like you might be in Italy or NYC. Some reports said it was loud but we had no problem. We started with cocktails - a Sidecar and the Rosemary. Clearly made with fresh squeezed juices. The Sidecar was a bit astringent for me but still tasty. The Rosemary was a nice balance of tart, sweet, and bitter. For apps, we had the mussels and marinated olives. Mussels were tender and plentiful - not a dud in the bowl. The toasted ciabatta was perfect for dipping the tomato sauce. The marinated olives were tasty - a basic app but good quality olives, nice herb flavor, and easy to share. We were very hungry so I forgot to take pics and just dug right in. For entrees, I had the salmon and hubby had the short rib ravioli. Both excellent. Remembered to take a pic of mine but hubby had already made a mess of his plate. Salmon was cooked nicely with a crispy sear. It came with cherry tomato topping (see photo), charred green beans (wonderful), and angel hair Pomodoro. I haven't tried the angel hair because I got full but brought it home and have high expectations. David gave the short rib ravioli high marks. Homemade pasta - perfect texture and flavor. Nice portion and "very tasty." We finished with creamy chocolate martinis for dessert. Yum! Our server, Annika, was delightful. I always have questions and special requests. What a nice restaurant. Went there with my wife and grown children for dinner. Nice atmosphere and our waiter was very polite and helpful. Everybody enjoyed their meal. We started with Calamari for an appetizer. My wife and I shared their Beat Salad. Wow! It was a nice well balanced portion with the right amount of dressing. Very well prepared. My wife, Daughter-in-law and Son-in-law had the Rigatoni Bolognese. Looked scrumptious and they all said it was fantastic. They ate it all. My son and I had their Pesto Gnocchi. Very well done with great flavor. The only thing my son said that it might have been even better if it was a little more al dente. The texture was unbelievable and they actually melted in your mouth. Possibly the best downtown experience! We try different restaurants before going to Broadway shows and I cannot believe this is our first time visiting. Greeted by the best hostess, Stefanie- spelled that way(- bc mine is as well) - friendly and accommodating, she sat us on the patio and even snapped our group pic afterwards! She even was able to produce change for me, as I needed to tip our server. The food was delicious and fresh, and I recommend the lightest tiramisu I've ever had in my life! Dianna our server, was very sweet and helpful w her suggestions and attentiveness! Inside was beautifully decorated, although, I didn't spend much time inside, it seemed to be very warm and inviting. I've never been here before until last night, we had a girls night dinner for devour I had the berry pie drink to start with, it you like sweet alcoholic beverages that's the move I started with the prosciutto which was tasty, it had some onion compote that I really enjoyed , then I had Rigatoni Alla Vodka, it was good but not great, the chicken on top was a little dry, I only ate half as I was saving room for the dessert and that was great! We came for NYE when visiting Indianapolis. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. A light snow fell outside and it felt magical. We were able to book a reservation at the last minute. We had an appetizer of baked ricotta I think. It is not on the menu now and ma have been a special. I had the chicken Marsala with a side of pasta pomodoro. The chicken was great but the pasta was a bit watery and so thin (capellini size). There is no kids menu but they brought my daughter buttered noodles. Those were the star of the show actually. I quite like this place. But it was my first time trying their devour menu! I'd gotten the stuffed flounder which was good! However, it was much "mushier" than I thought it'd be. But it had good flavor! For the appetizer I got the fried ravioli. As someone who spent a lot of time in St. Louis I love a toasted rav! The portion was definitely shareable! But I ate all of mine. For dessert I got the mango mousse. It was so light! The perfect mango flavor too! The service was good and they have a chill vibe. For some reason I expected more from this place but that doesn't stop me from wanting to go back. Metered parking or a paid lot within a 5 min walk is available but can always be a hassle. Everyone was friendly and my food was just okay but I will be back to try something else. Late review alert - I came to Rosemary and Olive during Devour summerfest, so the items I ordered are not on their regular menu but I desperately beg for them to be. Three courses was $39.95 per person. The outdoor patio is lovely in the good weather, feeling private from the sidewalk and passersby. Our service was also very good and our server (I can't remember his name, it might have been Jeff) was so attentive to us and very knowledgeable about everything we asked. Starter: prosciutto with melon. Absolutely stunning, and I would love to order again. Equally refreshing and savory. Main: tortellini. Filled with more prosciutto, I believe. I desperately desperately need to be able to order this again. It was just so savory and good, with a nice balance of the cream sauce and added vegetables. Dessert: cannoli. Made with chocolate chips and filled allllll the way through the cannoli. Chefs kiss, I need it again. Value index ($/satiety): 5/5 stars. It's definitely a little more pricey than other places but it's more than worth the delectable food you receive. Mich-Ellen stars (my version of the Michelin stars): 2/3 stars. Reservations recommended. We had issues finding a parking spot so we were a bit late on our reservation but they were able to seat us. Inside was crowded and hard to hold a conversation. They have a few acoustic tiles but they don't do enough to dampen the sound. They need more soft surfaces. The fake floral arrangements need to go or they need a professional to redo them. Even silk plants can help with noise. Service was good. Tea was kept filled. We both got Caesar salads and they were good. They may make their own dressing? Husband got Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. It was good just needed salt. No salt on the tables. I got Gnocchi pesto. The gnocchi was soft more like mashed potatoes. Other gnocchi I've had and what I've made has had more of a bite to it. Don't think I'd get the gnocchi again. Bread service is 3$ for 4 slices of crusty bread and sun-dried tomato olive oil. It was useful cleaning up he sauce in our bowls. We got chocolate cake and tiramisu to go. When we got home and opened the bag we couldn't believe how small their pieces were. Overall it was a decent experience. We came with a large party (14) so I appreciate the fact that the restaurant was able to accommodate us! The service was decent, my only comment was we felt a little rushed but I think the staff was trying to make sure we were attended too. The Toscana bruschetta, tilapia, bomba spumoni and limoncello mascarpone cake were the standouts for me, but the prosciutto e melone and stuffed chicken were also very good and flavorful. This cozy Italian restaurant was our choice for Christmas Eve. We booked a reservation right when they opened and it filled up very quickly. The soft lighting and ambiance made it feel like I was dining at someone's home. I started with the beet salad. Omg, one of the best salads I've had. I could have eaten that only and be happy. For my entree, I ordered the gnocchi with pesto. Delicious. I would order it again. The pasta was tender, sauce was flavorful, and the portion was perfect. We have two toddlers, and finding a restaurant that is toddler friendly is kind of hard. We went to Rosemary & Olive for date night one day, and we LOVED it so much! This is a cute and quaint Italian restaurant on the east end of Mass Ave. The windows on the outside were very dim, it appeared closed but thankfully it was not. We were seated immediately upon entering, service was quick and friendly. After being seated our server tended to us, bringing waters and offering any assistance. My husband's friend recommended this restaurant because they have gluten free options. We had never been here before, so I was undecided on the menu. I asked our server for suggestions and she recommended the Cresto di Gallo as it was their most popular, stating that it came with shrimp but I could substitute with anything if wanted. I went with it and so glad I did. It was amazing! I loved everything about it - the ribbon style pasta, the sauce with a hint of spice, and with the shrimp....mmm mmm, so delicious! I thanked our server for recommending that to me. Pasta places always intimidate me with the portions, but this portion was perfect for me, I ate every last bite. My husband got the Alfredo and he said it was good, but he was upset at the portion saying it wasn't very much for him. He also noted that there wasn't any complimentary bread. Didn't know ahead of time that a non-profit was having a "give-back" night but it sure made the restaurant lively! We had cocktails and three appetizers...the baked ricotta was outstanding but as I'd read it did only come with 4 slices of bread so we ordered an extra bread service; rice balls were unique and delicious (3 to a serving); pomodoro bruschetta was nothing special...cold tomatoes fell off with every bite. My husband and I decided last minute on the Saturday of Valentines weekend to go out to dinner. We were able to look for reservations on Yelp and get a table for 7:15! Super convenient and easy. Now of course the area was packed so it was tricky finding parking. My husband dropped me off at the door and I got our table and sat down promptly. Our waitress was so quick that I had a drink and ordered an appetizer all before my husband came in. We ordered the burrata, clam with linguine, pesto gnocchi, and the lemon cake. The burrata was excellent. The tomatoes were seasoned nicely and the olive oil and balsamic were quality not to mention the burrata that melted into your mouth. Both of our meals were solid. We then ordered the calamari. Great choice! The pieces were good size and very well made. The breading wasn't thick and oily. It was light and flavorful. Definitely something I'd get just to even have that with a drink would be good. My BF typically orders for us, so he chose for me the Creste Di Gallo with Shrimp, while he ordered the Short Rib Ravioli. We sat there and Julius did check on us many times which was absolutely fantastic. Our food came out and piping hot just how I love it! We always share and try each others meals so I tried his ravioli first and wow my tastebuds were so euphoric, I had never had any ravioli before like this! He even raved about it as well. He then tried my pasta and he was happy happy because the sauce had a little spice but wasn't overly spicy...I thought the exact same because it definitely was flavorful with a little kick but not too much that it overpowered the entire flavor of the dish itself. We definitely enjoyed our meals. We would have loved to try dessert but we were so full so when we come back we will have to make room or save room. Julius was an absolute delight and I'm hoping he's there the next time we dine. I didn't look around too much because it was busy so I didn't want other patrons to think I was staring at them or listening to their conversations but it was a little restaurant with plenty seating and the lighting was nice. Not sure what to rate this place I think it's a solid 3.5/5. Here's why: Rosemary & Olives offers a simple but mindful array of Italian dishes. My first time visiting was better than my second. I ordered the chicken piccata and my husband ordered the fettuccini with chicken. We started with the baked ricotta. The baked ricotta was delicious but they only serve it with four slices of bread. If you want more bread you'll have to pay for it. Three dollars for 4 slivers of bread is insane. My husband's fettuccine was okay. He said it wasn't the best he'd had and his chicken had a fishy flavor as if they cooked it in the same skillet as fish. The chicken piccata was not your traditional piccata. The sauce was clumpy. The texture was extremely off putting. Fortunately for me they offered to make me something else. We ended the meal with a slice of Italian lemon cream cake. This cake is absolutely delicious and I will be back for it. There are better Italian restaurants downtown but if you can't get in one of them, this will do. read more

Let's talk about Mass Ave. I've always said it needed an Italian restaurant, and Rosemary & Olive have delivered. Stopped in on a rainy Thursday November evening and snagged a seat at the bar. This building has high ceilings and a big open space, so expect it to be a little louder than you may expect. For me, it wasn't loud but instead created an energetic vibe. I had the beef short rib ravioli for my dinner. The food was delicious, but the midwesterner in me would have liked to see a little more short rib in the dish, especially for the price. A small moment that made a big impression. I'm lactose-free, and since it was a birthday dinner, the team subbed in lemon sorbet for the traditional complimentary dessert.
