I ordered the lasagna and I was in the mood for a side salad, but they don't have side salads so I got the Grow salad (mixed greens, strawberry, tomato, fennel, gorgonzola, pistachio, balsamic) too. That Grow salad was great! I should have just had that as my meal. I don't know if I've had a better salad. The lasagna was good, but not great. It was lighter than most lasagnas. It was different; the presentation kind of looked like sushi....It was three circles of pasta cut in the middle. They cook it in a cast iron skillet. It took a loooong time to get my food. We were in a room off of the dining room which allowed us to all talk but we were well attended to. Appetizers were so good. We just shared a bunch of them. Had such a great experience at nesso, which is tucked into the lower level of The Alexander. I ordered the pappardelle and the puréed potatoes. Both were delicious, well seasoned and comforting in the best way. The atmosphere was warm and stylish without feeling stuffy, and the service was excellent. Someone at our table didn't love their first drink. Our waitress took the time to ask what they liked, talked with the bartender, and came back with something that was spot on. I went with a wine she recommended, and it paired perfectly with my meal. Overall just a really solid experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be back. read more

I'm glad I was able to visit Nesso with a larger group (8), to celebrate a birthday. This way we were able to try so many different things! Everything was del looks. We tried most of the appetizers. They were all so good! I highly recommend the burrata, the focaccia bread, and the cauliflower! I had the gnocchi, which was probably the best I've had! Much of our group tried the bolognese and loved it! Service was amazing too! Our server was very attentive and helpful when deciding when and appetizer portions! The space is beautiful. Parking isn't ideal, but they are by City Way and downtown, so tricky parking is nothing new. You can find close parking if you are willing to pay and there's also valet parking available. read more

The ambiance is very sleek and high end, but the staff was very friendly and down to earth, which you don't get at every nice restaurant. Honestly not impressed with anything I had other than the drink. Nero started off as 10/10 and quickly faded to a mess of over powering seasoning. This became find the chopped octopus and single diced shrimp amongst the pasta.Tiramisu was so soft, you'd be better off getting the custard. You can never go wrong with a Cunningham restaurant and Nesso really proved that for us. It was my husband's 30th birthday dinner celebration and it was wonderful. The couple next to us were celebrating their 42 year anniversary and were given some free champagne and dessert wine from the restaurant. Nesso was next on our list of Cunningham Group restaurants that we hadn't tried yet, and they're all so amazing I still don't think I can choose a favorite. The cocktails were refreshing, the focaccia was savory (we saved a bite to dip into our pasta sauce, pro tip from our server at Vida), and the octopus was prepared wonderfully. We got a pasta to share and we joked about how we could order three bowls and be completely content for the night. I am a savory and salty lover so the pasta sauce really impressed me with the rich flavor. The entrees were amazing, and our server gave us recommendations for wine pairings to go with. The desserts were outstanding. I totally recommend getting the trio if you're a sweet treat lover like us. We loved how lowkey and personal the restaurant felt inside. My husband and I attended an event held at The Alexander Hotel, Sinatra Under the Stars, and decided to grab a bite while in the downtown area. With Nesso being just downstairs and us never having dined there, we decided to pop in. We were greeted by two young ladies at the host stand who asked if we were just two before a gentleman with an unbuttoned dress shirt interjected asking if we had reservations. We did not...but the young lady had menus in-hand ready to seat us. He advised that they were unable to seat us at this time and set a reservation for us for 30 minutes later. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, and she helped us by answering all of our questions about menu with a smile. The meatball. This was great. Probably one of the best I've had in Indy. The portion is generous and the sauce was very rich. I read many good reviews about their bread so we had to order some. It was warm, fluffy and baked to perfection. We got two, but one order would have been just enough for two people. I ordered Bolognese tagliatelle. I thought the pasta was overcooked because it had mushy texture, and I know it was not how it was supposed to be. Mushy and they were stuck together almost. However, the bolognese sauce was so great, it literally saved the dish. (This is the reason for the missing star) We didn't have any room for dessert but I'm sure they are good too. Nesso (a Cunningham owned restaurant) is located on the lower level of the Alexander Hotel. It's a modern decorated Italian restaurant that has a limited menu that packs a punch. We started with a couple of apps - the homemade bread with oil and balsamic vinegar and the meatball (it's one big meatball) followed by Caesar salads. Top-notch special occasion spot! I visited here for the first time for my birthday this fall and had a wonderful experience. Parking nearby wasn't too difficult with a garage connected to the restaurant and hotel. Service was friendly and since I noted a birthday in my online reservation, they brought a complimentary dessert! The burrata appetizer was a highlight, dessert was amazing, and we were happy with our entrees. My Fiancé and I were visiting the Indianapolis area and decided to visit Nesso after seeing its positive Yelp reviews. We unfortunately had a mediocre experience. We made an Open Table reservation for a Friday at 5pm. We were the first group to arrive to the restaurant yet the hostess brought us to a secluded table next to the restrooms and server counter. We asked to be moved and thankfully they were able to accommodate. After reviewing the menus, I ordered a French Martini and was later told they did not have pineapple juice so I switched to a Cosmo. We started with the Meatball and Bread starters followed by the Gnocchi and Orecchiette pastas for entrees. The meatballs were quite dense but had a food amount of red sauce to accompany them. The Gnocchi pasta came out with minimal black truffle shavings and a very small portion in comparison to the bowl it came in. The Orecchiette was not quite the pasta shape we expected and overall flavor was more spiced and chili forward (a comfortable heat). We ended with the Bombolino, a recommendation from our server. It was small in portion but had a good, bright flavor. Our server was great and on top of checking in on us and refilling waters. However, the rest of the staff was congregating in the open dining room and talking loudly to each other which was distracting. The restaurant was nicely designed! Though the food was good, nothing blew us away and the customer service/hospitality was lacking; we left feeling underwhelmed. read more

I decided to treat myself to a new Devour Indy restaurant and Nesso had some of the most unique options for my pescatarian self. I started with the parmesean cauliflower, which is way more tasty (and visually beautiful) than you'd think. For my entree I ordered the fjord trout. The outside of the trout filet was crispy while the middle was juicy and had tons of flavor. Flavor wise, it was similar to salmon. My favorite part was the dessert - my first time trying panna cotta! The panna cotta was presented in a nectar-y pear sauce that wasn't overly sweet. Loved this restaurant. After trying many Italian restaurants in Indy, I can say Nesso is my top-3 (the other two are Convivio and Ristorante Roma). The restaurant is located inside The Alexander Hotel and there's a convenient parking structure with a skybridge. Everything about this place is beautiful - the hotel itself and, of course, the restaurant. Finding a table on Saturday night wasn't a problem. Our receptionist and waitress were both friendly and attentive. It's important to note that they make all their pastas in house from scratch. We ordered a beet salad, capelletti nero, fennel sausage rigatoni, and a panna cotta as a dessert. It didn't take very long to get our food - everything came out swiftly and looked great. Both pastas were fresh and flavorful. I wish the portion size of capelletti was bigger though - it was like half the size of rigatoni. Nonetheless, everything tasted perfect. Panna cotta with strawberry sorbet and fresh berries was fantastic - highly recommend to wrap up your meal. Excellent menu with so many shareable starters, like the burrata (yummy) and fritto misto. I was surprised when one person from our party asked the server to check with the kitchen if they could make him a caprese salad and when the other salads came out he was told it wouldn't be possible. A caprese is pretty simple and the ingredients were part of other dishes on the menu, so that seemed a bit strange. The short rib entree was the winning dish at our table...generous portion and served on top of perfectly prepared and flavored polenta that had a hint of lemon to brighten it up. read more

We ate here for Valentine's Day and loved it! We've been up to Plat 99 several times, but have never tried Nesso until then. It's a lovely spot for a fancy date night. We ordered the burrata as a starter and then each had a salad- I chose the caesar salad (it had anchovy pieces in it which was divine) and he chose the house salad). For our entrees I ordered the special of swordfish and he got the pork chop. Both were cooked perfectly and were so juicy and tender. We split a bottle of the Monti Garbi Valpolicella Ripasso and it paired perfectly with both dishes! Since we had never been before we each ordered a dessert and then shared them. We got the tiramisu and the panna cotta. The fresh strawberry sorbet with the panna cotta was to die for and you can never go wrong with tiramisu. Service was incredible!! I just wasn't a huge fan of ththe food for the price we paid. My friend got one of the ravioli pasta dishes- and there were maybe 6 small raviolis. While they encourage you to have pasta and a main entree he did say the pasta would be enough for a main dish. She left hungry. Sure she could have ordered more- but it was already pretty expensive. Another incredible dinner at Nesso, one of my favorites in Indy. The burrata is fantastic and this time, we tried the carpaccio as well which was delectable. Two of us ordered the orichette, one of us getting it straight from the menu and the other swapping out lamp ragu for bolognese. This was one of the most scrumptious pastas ever! The spice of the chiles coupled with the lightness of the ricotta was divine. Everyone also raved over the scallops in both the Nero and the Scallop/ risotto dish. It would've been nice if they offered valet parking. However the aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful the staff is extremely professional and nice. Our waitress was named Jennifer and she was so sweet and helpful. I had a glass of moscato to start . They do sale wine by the bottle or the glass and they have some pretty interesting signature cocktails. My husband had an espresso martini, which was delicious. For our appetizer we got a mozzarella, tomato, sweet onion, oil, and basil, dish on a small cast-iron skillet with a crispy baguette. Amazing 10/10 I would highly recommend this! I got spaghetti and meatballs for my main dish. I imagine I couldn't get this dish made better any where else in the world but Italy. It was so delicious, I will be coming back simply for this dish. 20/10! I highly recommend. The ambiance inside is quite nice and though it looks small from the outside, there is plenty of seating inside. Our waiter was very kind and patient as we took a bit of time to sit down. Now let's get to the food. I ordered the pesto pasta with salmon and it tasted so fresh! I also tried the beet salad and it was so refreshing. As I looked over the menu for a drink, our waiter was so kind to whip me up something that included a floral gin. Couldn't put my finger on what exactly was in it, but the drink itself was so good I had to order another one! I've finally convinced hubs that we need to start coming downtown to more to eat. Nesso has been on the short list for a while now. Located on the corner of Delaware and South street in the main level of the Alexander Hotel, street parking is available if you can find it and an expensive parking garage is behind the hotel. We paid 15.00 for 2 hours and 7 mins. The Parmesan cauliflower is one of the best appetizers I've had in 2023. It was delicious and I'm glad we accidentally ordered two of them. I had heard the serving sizes here were not large and the prices concerned me having this information beforehand. The cauliflower was a good size for 14.00 I don't think 2 squares of the focaccia was the best deal for 7.00 but we went with it for 4 people. The fritto misto was also good, the calamari was not chewy but there were only a few pieces. The salmon was huge but the pasta dishes were small. Both pastas were tasty though. The service was great and I like when they are willing to split checks. Over all I would come back here in a heartbeat to try more dishes but it will probably be a special occasion place due to the portion sizing and price. The cauliflower is a must! read more

Updating my previous review -- which was away back in Oct 2018, about a month after they opened. We had a great time then, celebrating an anniversary. Just went again in Dec 2022, a little earlier (5pm) on a Friday night, so just at opening time, and it was less busy and quite; much more peaceful. Still great service and wonderful food. Limited menu inspired by southern Italian cuisine. We started with the beet carpaccio salad, which was beautiful and tasty, although a small portion for $14 with very thinly sliced beets. (Yes, I know that is what carpaccio means, ha.) The hubs ordered the linguini nero (seafood) and I ordered the off-menu special, short ribs. Hubs had iced tea, but I asked our server Joshua to pair my food with a nice glass of red wine but told him I didn't want the most expensive glass and he immediately had a suggestion of a repasso in a more median price that was a great pairing. Our entrees were delicious. The meat was good, but the truffles and mushrooms that accompanied the short ribs were the star of my dish, as was the glaze on it that I would have definitely eaten more of. We also split a tiramisu and a large french press coffee. I am not usually super excited about tiramisu, but this was quite light and tasty. And honestly, that french press at $5 is seriously the best deal on the menu! Our evening came in at $125 before gratuity. This is one of my restaurants in Indy. Their cocktails are absolutely amazing. The food has always been delicious. I hate that I always forget to take photos of the food while I am there. In the summer they have the doors open and have a half inside half outside sitting area. It's stunning. The whole ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. During our staycation at the Alexander we knew we wanted to try Nesso! I originally made an earlier 6:30 reservation, but I changed our plans and was easily able to switch to later times using the open door app. Huge plus! We arrived a bit earl, but we we were able to get seated right away. We started with a bottle of Sangiovese and a large order of bread. I really enjoyed my main, Tagliatelle.
