Honestly, this was one of the best experiences I've had with home repairs. Projects like this, especially at this cost, usually make me a bit anxious since contractors can be hit or miss, but this team made it easy. Noah (consultant) was the reason I chose them. He was super personable, thorough, helpful, and never pushy. Osvaldo (field supervisor) was great to work with too! He was responsive, solution-focused a and a calming presence when small issues came up. The installers were professional, respectful, and kept the job site clean, which I really appreciated. What really stood out is that they genuinely care about their customers. You can feel it in how they communicate and the pride they take in doing the job right. I'd definitely recommend them!

Let me just start by saying I'm a researcher. When I look for quotes, I first check Google to see…read morewhat the average price of my expected repair will cost, then get multiple quotes and compare both scope of work and cost. Upon initial inquiry, Specialist Roofing & Repair was pretty quick to reply, so I scheduled a consultation. One odd thing is, when I scheduled, they asked if the would be seeing both my husband and I or just me; I find this a strange question as what if I wasn't married? It is awfully assumptive to think I had to have a husband, but I digress. Noah was scheduled to perform the inspection. He was running a bit late and called about 5 minutes after our scheduled time letting me know he ran into some traffic and would be about another 5 minutes or so. He showed up 20 minutes later and it was the oddest thing, he parked in my driveway. When he came up to the door he asked if it was okay and I said okay, but honestly, I found it really strange and just didn't want to prolong the appointment. Upon inspection, he seemed very knowledgeable and personable and did a pretty thorough inspection taking pictures and videos of the roof and surrounding areas. As mentioned, I am the type to obtain multiple quotes, so I expected that after he did the inspection, we would go over his findings and a few days later I would receive a quote. After he did the inspection, he showed me a video of something the other roofers didn't, which was nice as I like a thorough job, but then said he would be in touch with a quote. I received a phone call a few days later asking to discuss findings, but when I called back, I got an AI bot which was then followed up by a call back from a real person. Oddly enough, when they called, they literally said nothing. They asked if it was a good time to talk and I said yes but they wanted to talk when "my husband was around." Even though I said it was a good time, they said they would call back. I followed up via Yelp message. It has been over a week and I have yet to receive any quote from them. Needless to say, I won't be going with this company. They aren't willing to work with just a woman and are unresponsive.

Carlos came out and provided 2 different quotes, one for full replacement and another one for replacing only a portion to include upgrading all the vents. I wasn't expecting that but after consideration, I thought that was the best option. We scheduled the repair and they were prompt, professional, and clean. His team came out on time and worked like a machine to complete in one day. They cleaned up after they were done and then the foreman came out same day to inspect and perform quality control. Aside from saving me thousands on our options, I was very impressed with SoCal from start to finish. I would highly recommend their services.

I really wanted to give this company 5 stars because of Jose, the foreman. He was amazing to work with, attentative, and prompt. Salt of the earth! Carlos, the owner, was also amazing, prompt, straightforward, knowledgeable. They did an amazing job on my roof. Roof itself 5/5. No complaints. However, I do believe the job and the service itself is 3 stars. Not bad but not amazing. I ended up walking away from this experience just kind of meh but wanted to share my honest thoughts so it'll help others. That being said, there were a couple hiccups that happened along the way. No one contacted me prior to the day of my start date/roof removal. The office manager kind of chucked it as the person who supposed to let me know was out sick. They require someone be home to sign off on the work so not letting me know seemed off.. Not a peep about what time theyll be arriving, what to expect. Etc. Yes, they walk you through this process during quotation but thats about 4 to 6 weeks out before the actual day. They also didnt let me know which day or what time. I had to reach out myself multiple times. The team is quick but I also think their speed leaves them a bit careless. After they were done, I was left with a patched ceiling (beautifully patched but I feel like shouldn't have happened in the first place), kitchen/outdoor light that no longer works, loose recessed lighting,, and plumbing leak. They also let you know and disclose that things may break since theres pressure on the roof. Its in the contract but it highlights loose items and such... but realistically, not electrical going out or plumbing leaks based on what ive learned from others and neighbors. I also had my plumbing inspected and redone in September 2024. Now, im not saying they were at fault and that theyre to blame. It could just be my luck that it happened exactly on the day they were up on my roof after living here over a year. Also, very minor but there were trash left around that my inspector found. They were accomodating on making things right although they started to be a little short with me towards the end. I really considered referring them to other friends who needed their roofing done but not sure if my confidence is there if theyll be spending $$$ for an ok experience.

After getting estimates from several different roofing/solar companies at the end of September…read more2025, AA Roofing was a wildcard since they were up against 3 larger companies that were one-stop-shops for both roofing and solar. Although our appointment had to be rescheduled a couple of times, when Jake came over to survey our roof, he was very approachable and professional. AA Roofing's estimate was not the lowest, but I was looking for a reasonable quote with a realistic timeline to have both the roofing and solar project done by the end of the 2025 year when the federal tax credit for solar power installation expires. AA Roofing did not disappoint! Jake was quick with the estimate and even quicker with pulling permits and the installation! As a comparison, the three larger companies could not start until 2 and 3 weeks later! We would have definitely missed the tax credit deadline! He also made sure that everything was done within the scope of the quote, and our criteria. Jake's roof tile suggestion turned out to be quite stunning and better than we expected! He suggested we use the solar company he partners with. Elione Solar was not the largest company also but had very high reviews. The speed that AA Roofing completed the roofing portion of the project was HUGE because the lead-time for the solar install is quite lengthy with the permitting, installation, inspection, coordinating with SCE to get everything hooked up into the system (grid?), and THEN FINALLY passing final city inspection. Elione also deserves high praise for their part in this project! It was close but without AA Roofing's prompt and speedy installation, it would have been a challenge if not impossible to meet the year-end energy tax credit deadline!!! After these past heavy winter storms in the Long Beach area, I'm happy to say that the roof and solar installation DID NOT LEAK! Kudos to Jake and his excellent team at AA Roofing!!!

*Would Hire Again*…read more [Project Scope] Re-roof on a one story single family house, including new underlayment, drip edge, composite shingles, plus sheathing repairs and ventilation updates. FWIW, in my line of work we nit-pick over details & craftsmanship. I bring those expectations--for better or worse--to maintaining my house. Unsurprisingly, I tend to find some level of fault with any contractor. [Communication] The project manager (Danny) and front office (Melissa) were quick to answer the many questions I had via email, text, and phone. They were patient while I took my time selecting a contractor. They also coordinated directly with my solar contractor so the rooftop PV system was off the roof for no longer than necessary. The PM was out briefly each day to check the work and collect payment. [Availability] I didn't need the work done urgently, but Smart Roofing did start work within two weeks of signing the contract and finished within 3 days. [Warranty] One reason I chose this company was their standing as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, which gets a workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning (except the solar penetrations in our case), should the contractor ever go out of business. [Workmanship] Crews (separate tear-off and install) were on-time, respectful, and cleaned up each day. Overall, the work appears to be done well, though I'm no roofer. The way some of the holes in the roof were cut and flashings set did seem to be rushed, but so far it's watertight and that's what matters. The original sheathing had large gaps, which I asked to be fixed, although they may have done so without my asking, that wasn't communicated one way or another. They handled the addition of an exhaust vent flashing, relocation of a vent flashing, and removal of an unused vent flashing as per my request. [Issues] At some point, the furnace b-vent was pushed into the attic, breaking an elbow inside the attic. I ended up getting the part and doing the repair myself. Similar as well with the water heater b-vent: it was pushed down and crushed a section, but wasn't caught by the crew. Plus, the vent was reset at an angle so it's now pressed up against the house. Finally, while cleanup went fairly well, there was still trash and a few handfuls of nails scattered throughout the property, roof, and gutters--a small complaint and probably par for the course. Slightly-related... at no point did a Simi Valley building inspector come onto our property. For both inspections, a truck appeared across the street, yet no one got out. No looking at the back of the roof, no rooftop inspection, no check that sheathing was sound and work done correctly. What a joke, that $560 payment to the city. Thanks, Danny and crew, for the work!

Decided to do a full roof underlayment replacement, searched on Yelp and received 4 quotes with almost identical materials from 4 different licensed roofers. Quote from Evi at Smart Roofing is the lowest with a bit more coverage, and Evi always answered my questions in a timely manner. Eventually signed a contract with Evi, project started in March during the hottest week. Evi kept me posted on a daily basis, and their crews are friendly and hard working, cleaned up before leaving every day. 1st day to demolition, 2nd day for city inspection and material delivery, then it took 3 days to complete the installation of Westlake Royal TileSeal HT underlayment. Smart Roofing offers unlimited plywood and tile replacement as needed, and they do not subcontract, all crewmembers are employed by Smart Roofing. Evi brought company's insurance document along with different underlayment samples when coming for an estimate, my project is backed by 10-year labor warranty and 30-year underlayment manufacturer warranty. Need to wait for the rain season to see how everything holds up, many thanks to Evi and all the crewmembers.

Received a call that someone would come to our home Friday, May 8th at 8 am. I received a text from an employee named Justin describing his background and that he would be here at 8 am on Friday. At 9 am I texted him to ask his whereabouts. No answer. I advised him we would be walking the dog and to text me when he was arriving. Justin never returned my texts nor did he show up. The owner Sergio showed up at 10 am. I advised him Justin never contacted me back. Apparently, there was a call in so Justin was needed to do a job but Justin never bothered to inform us. Sergio said the company has a 2 hour window for any estimate appointments. This detail was not on the mail I was sent saying the appoitnment was at 8 am. I told Sergio I just wanted the ponding to be sprayed and that I would apply the 2 coats of elastomeric myself. To me, it felt like he was using scare tactics and saying the job required a full crew. He said all of the solar panels needed to be covered which made sense to me. I have bought and sold several homes and have had rentals. I understand the work required to do a job. To me, it would take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours tops to spray foam the areas that needed to be raised just a few inches. We agreed the total sqaure footage to be spray a few inches was approximately 500 square feet. He said he needed the weekend to come up with an estimate because he had softball over the weekend. People have socials lives. I get it. To me, based on the work required and the amount of spray foam needed, I felt an appropriate estimate would be $2000 tops. I asked him off the top of his head what a rough quote would be, he said between $5000 and $7000. Well, it is Friday and no call, no email, no text and no quote. Again, I felt he was trying to scare me as I suspect he did not understand my knowledge base. You have a choice in picking a contractor in doing roof repair. Would you pick a contractor whose employees do not show up, someone finally shows up 2 hours late, claims there is a 2 hour window, verbally quotes a ridiculous amount, says a written estimate is coming 3 says later, then fails to sent a quote or any form of communication a week later?

Selah was our first appointment, and we had a couple lined up the next week. The owner named Paul came over and gave his presentation which consisted of him going on our roofs and measuring and seeing what we need, then speaking to us about what materials will be used, the technology used, explaining the process of roofing and giving an estimate. Paul's presentation was so good and the price we felt was very good that we went with Selah without getting further estimates. We cancelled our other appointments. Paul was clear and concise and gave us fact, not fluff when giving the presentation. We had only one other presentation and that was a year and a half ago. That guy was full of himself and was two and a half times as expensive as Selah and the presenter was at our house for two hours, I kid you not. I tried to get rid of him, but he insisted on talking for about two hours. I told him I need to leave to meet a friend so end it now, and this was an hour into the conversation, but he seemed insulted and said how important it is to hear his presentation. He claimed his company had a special technology and material that justified the high price. I don't believe him. After he left, we knew his roofing company was not for us. We shelved the idea of a new roof until a couple of months ago when Paul came over to present. Paul was a breath of fresh air after putting up with that other guy about a year and a half ago. I know it makes sense to get additional presentations and bids but truthfully, we felt good about Paul and his company, and we felt Selah was for us and no further presentations from other companies were needed. My sister and I discussed it. We were right, Selah did a great job. I believe this was a blessing from God to bring them to our home and replace our roof. It took us a few weeks to decide what color we want for the shingles. Then we set up a date for them to start the roof but when that date rolled around it rained, so we were delayed. Not a problem because we were in no rush. Eventually the rain was done, and we were back on track. The start was on a Saturday, then they continued the following Monday and worked until next Saturday. Then continued Tuesday and were done Wednesday. So, it was a nine-day project. Reason it took so many days is because they needed to rip off all layers of the roof down to the frame. Then replace some wood that was rotted, then do the plywood and all the material and whatever needs to be done. We also have two roofs to do. One house and a detached garage. His team did a very thorough job. They don't cut corners. They do the job right. Reason why we had to have all the layers removed is because we had three layers of roof already and when there are three layers you need to remove them all and start over. If you have three layers you can't add another layer, therefore you tear it all off and start over with a new layer. Not only did they do a great job when it was done, the next day, they cleaned up the back yard because in the process debris fall all over the place. They did cover the pool with heavy plastic to prevent debris from falling in the pool and clogging the filter. They did such a thorough job cleaning the backyard, the backyard looked cleaner than it had in years. Thanks for cleaning it up of not just debris but other things that were dirtying the backyard and driveway before you started. We are pleased with the whole process of getting the roof done. From the presentation, the clear communication Paul and his people had with us, to the roof itself, price and final cleanup. We highly recommend Selah Roofing.
