Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. My neighbors (6 total) all used The Final Touch roofing and I did not. I went with a slightly cheaper roofing company and was disappointed. I watch as my neighbors had The Final touch meticulously replace the roofs on their homes. Every detail was addressed, the plywood, the underlayment, the gutters, the tear off and of course, the clean up. This exquisite work was observed as I walked my dog daily and asked questions of my neighbors and the crew working as I was in the market for a new roof. Ovi and his wife are perfectionists and their commitment to quality is unsurpassed. Don't make the mistake I did and go with the cheaper company that promises the same quality, it's not worth it. In the end I didn't save any money, I only got aggravation and excuses from the company I used and will probably have to redo some of the work.

On came out to inspect the roof and pointed out the various problems on the roof, and suggested a full replacement on the bathroom section. I also inquire about work on our garage (though it's not leaking, but it's in need of replacement). On gave me an estimate of work for both garage and bathroom in a terrific value; I was shocked initially since no other contractor has given me such a reasonable estimate. Written and later official estimate was given, and the cost, part, work was exactly as quoted (aside from plywood needed for the garage) On is very genuine and respectful. He maintains a very high level of communication, and you just feel greatly welcomed when talking to him. Out of the 4 days of work done, On is pretty much there every day to inspect and verify proper work is done by the crew. When the crew do finish their work at the end of each day, there is NO mess left behind in the house/garden. Everything is cleaned up and nearly placed by the wall. My wife was shocked and commented that the yard was cleaner than the day before. AAA Expert Roofing did a fantastic job in my home repair, and I'm glad I ve selected them.

He even referred me to someone else for cleaning instead of keeping everything in house. No scare tactics, no inflated list of problems, no upsell. *Would Hire Again*…read more [Project Scope] Re-roof on a one story single family house, including new underlayment, drip edge, composite shingles, plus sheathing repairs and ventilation updates. FWIW, in my line of work we nit-pick over details & craftsmanship. I bring those expectations--for better or worse--to maintaining my house. Unsurprisingly, I tend to find some level of fault with any contractor. [Communication] The project manager (Danny) and front office (Melissa) were quick to answer the many questions I had via email, text, and phone. They were patient while I took my time selecting a contractor. They also coordinated directly with my solar contractor so the rooftop PV system was off the roof for no longer than necessary. The PM was out briefly each day to check the work and collect payment. [Availability] I didn't need the work done urgently, but Smart Roofing did start work within two weeks of signing the contract and finished within 3 days. [Warranty] One reason I chose this company was their standing as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, which gets a workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning (except the solar penetrations in our case), should the contractor ever go out of business. [Workmanship] Crews (separate tear-off and install) were on-time, respectful, and cleaned up each day. Overall, the work appears to be done well, though I'm no roofer. The way some of the holes in the roof were cut and flashings set did seem to be rushed, but so far it's watertight and that's what matters. The original sheathing had large gaps, which I asked to be fixed, although they may have done so without my asking, that wasn't communicated one way or another. They handled the addition of an exhaust vent flashing, relocation of a vent flashing, and removal of an unused vent flashing as per my request. [Issues] At some point, the furnace b-vent was pushed into the attic, breaking an elbow inside the attic. I ended up getting the part and doing the repair myself. Similar as well with the water heater b-vent: it was pushed down and crushed a section, but wasn't caught by the crew. Plus, the vent was reset at an angle so it's now pressed up against the house. Finally, while cleanup went fairly well, there was still trash and a few handfuls of nails scattered throughout the property, roof, and gutters--a small complaint and probably par for the course. Slightly-related... at no point did a Simi Valley building inspector come onto our property. For both inspections, a truck appeared across the street, yet no one got out. No looking at the back of the roof, no rooftop inspection, no check that sheathing was sound and work done correctly. What a joke, that $560 payment to the city. Decided to do a full roof underlayment replacement, searched on Yelp and received 4 quotes with almost identical materials from 4 different licensed roofers. Quote from Evi at Smart Roofing is the lowest with a bit more coverage, and Evi always answered my questions in a timely manner. Eventually signed a contract with Evi, project started in March during the hottest week. Evi kept me posted on a daily basis, and their crews are friendly and hard working, cleaned up before leaving every day. 1st day to demolition, 2nd day for city inspection and material delivery, then it took 3 days to complete the installation of Westlake Royal TileSeal HT underlayment. Smart Roofing offers unlimited plywood and tile replacement as needed, and they do not subcontract, all crewmembers are employed by Smart Roofing. Evi brought company's insurance document along with different underlayment samples when coming for an estimate, my project is backed by 10-year labor warranty and 30-year underlayment manufacturer warranty. Need to wait for the rain season to see how everything holds up, many thanks to Evi and all the crewmembers.

I reached out to MDM back in early 2025 and met with Mike right away so he could look at my…read moreproperty and walk me through what my wife and I wanted for our project. Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

From our initial consultation and presentation of the proposed work, through final completion Alan and his crew from Benefit Roofing did and awesome job! Alan was quick to respond when seeking quotes and during our initial meeting demonstrated knowledge, integrity and gained my trust by providing a fair and realistic quote. Our home has a very steep pitched roof which provides its own natural challenges which the crew expertly managed during tear off of old and replacement of new roofing materials. The work began as soon as the permit was pulled and completed in a timely fashion. Throughout the project Alan or Pablo was engaged in daily review of the work being performed and ensuring all elements as agreed to in the contract and through conversations was being properly addressed. Site cleanup and protection of critical plants and features around our home during the work was expertly managed throughout the process. Our new roof looks awesome and the first rains and gutters kept everything dry. Benefit roofing just completed replacing our 30 years old roof with a new one... and they did an amazing job! We really did our research and met with a few roofing companies, however once we met with Alan we knew he would take care of our home like it were his. From the initial consultation until the completion of the roof - everything went smooth, exactly as we hoped for! I can definitely say that roof work is not easy at all, but they got it done efficiently and in a timely manner (it took them about 5 days to complete the entire re-roofing process). The new roof looks great! They also installed chimney metal flashing and new roof vents to help us with the heat (our house gets really hot in the summer). We can already feel the difference. What we appreciated most of all is that after they completed the roof, Alan and his crew did a walk-through around the property and picked up all the left-over debris and nails. We have a dog so it was extremely important for us that they cleaned up after themselves. Benefit Roofing provided good estimate, material, installation and service. The house we moved into needed new shingles from the get-go and rotted plywood replaced in areas discovered after shingles removal. New roof looks nice and neat with Owens Corning shingles and low-profile vents which were painted to match the shingles. Existing exhaust pipes and other protrusions were painted to match as a nice finishing touch. I postponed this review until after strong winds and heavy rain. Shingles remained intact, no wet spots on ceiling or walls, and not a drop of water heard. Alan was prompt, professional, and addressed every concern I had throughout this renovation. I look forward to working with him and Benefit Roofing again for gutters. read more

We recently replaced our roof with Benefit, and we couldn't be happier with the service, communication and final results. It all started with Dina, the office manager which was very kind and accommodating to my work schedule. Alan, the owner came out to inspect the roof and was very thorough during the process. We had some pretty bad damage on our roof , and honestly, I was worried it was going to be a huge, expensive headache. But they really came through! They took one look at the damage and knew exactly what needed to be done. The crew worked fast, and the repair looks solid. I cannot recommend Alan and the guys at Benefit Roofing enough. Not only did he come out to our house to check on our roof in a timely manner, he gave us a fair assessment of the property. Many roofing contractors will tell you there is an issue with the roof even if there isn't one so they can get a contract. Alan and the guys at Benefit Roofing are the exact opposite and told us that our roof didn't have any damage. Their team clearly has integrity, which is in short supply in this world. Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. I think that if you meet with a number of roofers, you will agree with me. I highly recommend...

We have a vaulted roof - no room for R30 to be laid in. So when Sean presented the Low-E Therma Sheet as a roofing underlayment, I was especially pleased. This CA "Cool Roof" alternative insulator is a reflective guard against the intense effect of the Sun during SoCal summer months. What a great value! * Another element that I appreciated was the high level of secondary contractors Sean included on his team. Tony was the HVAC contractor who walked us through all the issues in moving AC units so that the roof underneath could be properly addressed. * This critical area was of concern to many of the residents in our HOA. I appreciated the personal attention and quality work in taking care of our AC unit. * We received a 20 year warranty on the roof and a certification of cool roof installation. The cool roof application came with a rebate through IRS form 5695. DWP has a rebate which Sean alerted us to. * What a great value to receive such a quality roof from people who carefully serviced our requests. Were there problems along the way? Of course! *Would Hire Again*…read more [Project Scope] Re-roof on a one story single family house, including new underlayment, drip edge, composite shingles, plus sheathing repairs and ventilation updates. FWIW, in my line of work we nit-pick over details & craftsmanship. I bring those expectations--for better or worse--to maintaining my house. Unsurprisingly, I tend to find some level of fault with any contractor. [Communication] The project manager (Danny) and front office (Melissa) were quick to answer the many questions I had via email, text, and phone. They were patient while I took my time selecting a contractor. They also coordinated directly with my solar contractor so the rooftop PV system was off the roof for no longer than necessary. The PM was out briefly each day to check the work and collect payment. [Availability] I didn't need the work done urgently, but Smart Roofing did start work within two weeks of signing the contract and finished within 3 days. [Warranty] One reason I chose this company was their standing as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred, which gets a workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning (except the solar penetrations in our case), should the contractor ever go out of business. [Workmanship] Crews (separate tear-off and install) were on-time, respectful, and cleaned up each day. Overall, the work appears to be done well, though I'm no roofer. The way some of the holes in the roof were cut and flashings set did seem to be rushed, but so far it's watertight and that's what matters. The original sheathing had large gaps, which I asked to be fixed, although they may have done so without my asking, that wasn't communicated one way or another. They handled the addition of an exhaust vent flashing, relocation of a vent flashing, and removal of an unused vent flashing as per my request. [Issues] At some point, the furnace b-vent was pushed into the attic, breaking an elbow inside the attic. I ended up getting the part and doing the repair myself. Similar as well with the water heater b-vent: it was pushed down and crushed a section, but wasn't caught by the crew. Plus, the vent was reset at an angle so it's now pressed up against the house. Finally, while cleanup went fairly well, there was still trash and a few handfuls of nails scattered throughout the property, roof, and gutters--a small complaint and probably par for the course. Slightly-related... at no point did a Simi Valley building inspector come onto our property. For both inspections, a truck appeared across the street, yet no one got out. No looking at the back of the roof, no rooftop inspection, no check that sheathing was sound and work done correctly. What a joke, that $560 payment to the city. Decided to do a full roof underlayment replacement, searched on Yelp and received 4 quotes with almost identical materials from 4 different licensed roofers. Quote from Evi at Smart Roofing is the lowest with a bit more coverage, and Evi always answered my questions in a timely manner. Eventually signed a contract with Evi, project started in March during the hottest week. Evi kept me posted on a daily basis, and their crews are friendly and hard working, cleaned up before leaving every day. 1st day to demolition, 2nd day for city inspection and material delivery, then it took 3 days to complete the installation of Westlake Royal TileSeal HT underlayment. Smart Roofing offers unlimited plywood and tile replacement as needed, and they do not subcontract, all crewmembers are employed by Smart Roofing. Evi brought company's insurance document along with different underlayment samples when coming for an estimate, my project is backed by 10-year labor warranty and 30-year underlayment manufacturer warranty. Need to wait for the rain season to see how everything holds up, many thanks to Evi and all the crewmembers.

For the rear part of the house, we did a "comp out" around our solar panels, which looks great. This project was quite involved, and took a very long time to complete due to our solar contractors. David was very patient throughout the whole process, and didn't put any pressure on us. Three things that I really liked: 1. Visually, the roof looks excellent. It looks much cleaner than the previous tile roof. Juan, our lead roofer on the project, as well as the rest of the team, did a great job. 2. When there were minor issues that popped up, which are to be expected with such a complex job, guys were at the house the next day to take care of them. 3. Of the many contractors that came to bid on this roof job, DT Roofing was the only one willing to actually do a true tile rest, and try and save as many existing historic tiles on our roof. Almost every roofing company that came out tried to pressure us to get rid of the existing tiles, and just buy new tiles, saying that at least 70% of our tiles were going to break when removed. The guys were able to save the majority of my tiles, which helped to save us money, and also helped us to keep using many of the tiles original to the house.
