Previously my rating was higher but after some time healing of my second cartilage piercing I realized it wait done crooked. My earring went downwards through the back of my ear so I didn't realize the difference from just looking at the front. Now that I discovered this I am disappointed but can't do much about it so I just decided to close the second cartilage lobe since the crookedness makes it difficult to wear certain earrings. *Oh!?, small disclaimer. I was wrong in the order of my second and third tattoo. Ambrotos Tattoos is number 3 while Pop's Tattoo is number 2 tattoo I received. Not sure how I mixed this up. I remember I was devoriced or on my way to getting one when I got the third tattoo* 10/13/20 This Tattoo place use to be located at 940 bonifant st, silver spring, md 20910.  This is the tattoo location I went to incase this place does not remember me. (I will add my photo after work today) However, as Silver Spring has changed and grown from the hoodlum it was, to the new upper class area, many businesses have moved to other locations or shutdown for good. Ambrotos Tattoos in Silver Spring is where I aquired my second tattoo.  I showed up to this place on a spur of the moment... okay I called to find out when the opened on a certain day ahead of time. Anyhow, I showed up with no real preparation on what I wanted.  I looked around for awhile bouncing around ideas, until I found a picture of fairly with her wings spread. The idea of having another fox on my upper arm  came to mind.  This fox would on mountain top with a few apples near it. The fox is reaching for another apple. There would be a waterfall near it too. Waterfalls are something I have always liked since I was a kid. The tattoo artist I believe had red hair and was cool dude. He had a lot of patience with what I wanted to get done.  Any tattoo artist will tell you this is serious life choice. Once the tattoo is on your skin, removing it can be more costly than keeping it. Can be painful and unsightly  to remove it too. Both he and I understood this without having to say anything about that. As we talked, I found out he once worked at a tattoo place called Inkers Tattoo.  I found out he trained a girl...woman  named Ashley. (I HOPE I GOT HER NAME RIGHT) I did get the feeling they may have had a falling out.   Nevertheless,   I found it interesting that the person giving me my second tattoo would be the trainer of the person who gave me my first tattoo. Watching the set up of clean and sterile equipment. I watched as the needle scraped against my skin.  Personally the pain was pretty much nonexistent.  However as the needle  crept up to my chest, I could feel how painful it would be if I did get a chest tattoo. The mythical animal I call The Bellfox  is rarly seen by people with its wings.    The whole process of getting this tattoo was about 2 hours. The shading wasn't bad either.   The healing process wasn't as bad thos time around, because I now knew what to expect.  A+D First Aid Skin Ointment helped a great deal. I also used lotion, but I won't say which kind. The tattoo artist  at whichever place you go to will advise you what to get.   Your paying good money to get a tattoo from them so listing to their advise on the healing process is advised.   Not to jump off topic, but I will for a moment.  A guy once told me he had gotten a tattoo once. He later on that day went for a swim in a swimming pool and list all the color off of his tattoo. The guy had to get his tattoo redone again.  He was lucky his tattoo did not get infected too. I remember the guy telling me that if I ever get a tattoo, I should listen to what they say about the healing process and don't be a moron like him. Well I listen to what the tattoo artist told me and the itchy feeling of my arm/shoulder healed in no time.  I would like to thank this guy for the tattoo this guy did. If there was anything I would want changed about the tattoo,  it would be to add more water. Maybe one day I might have the artwork on both my tattoos updated with more water, but we will have to see. Maybe if I winner $100,000.00 I'll do it. read more

I have come multiple times with friends to get piercings and each time we had a good experience! Michael, the piercer, helped us each time. I got my conch and helix pierced and my friends got their lobes and belly button pierced. I've been to another piercer before to get my helixes pierced, and while the actual part of getting pierced hurt less than the one I got done by Michael, the healing was much much worse. I pretty much felt no pain the next day unless I touched it. Michael also reviews proper care and gave us salt for us to soak our piercings. Price is very appropriate. Overall I would recommend! I got my conch done by Emily on June 1st and I couldn't have imagined a more wonderful experience. I love Emily - probably one of the sweetest and kindest people I've ever met. She told me everything she was doing during the process and also told me what to do for aftercare. I was done in about 5 minutes and she told me to call if ever I had any questions/concerns! I came in today to show her my ear since it had gotten extremely irritated (red, very swollen, scaly, and extremely itchy) since I got it pierced. My boyfriend and I arrived here to get matching moon tattoos on our fingers, a body placement that's very noticeable.. Moses was our tattoo artist and first and foremost this kid was sneezing/ coughing and had a runny nose throughout our service. He was very clearly unwell and was NOT wearing a mask. We were hesitant to continue with the service but we figured it was small and quick so we'd just get through it. Biggest mistake. he did such a terrible job on our tattoos I cried all night long and the next morning. To make things so much worse, when we called the owner to kindly let him know we'd like it to be touched up by someone else, he started BERATING US on the phone! So much disgusting attitude so much blaming on the customer, ZERO accountability. The owner's lack of professionalism is the reason why we didn't even go back to get them fixed. The way he spoke to me on the phone you could 100% tell he has 0 respect for customers & ZERO respect for women. Ladies I urge you, STAY AWAY FROM HERE. This establishment does not deserve our business! Feel free to look at the pictures yourselves! One of the dots on my fingers is so much bigger than the other & the line work is so HORRIBLE !!!!!!!! Before I even tell you about my tattoo, no body in the store was wearing their masks that worked there including my artist DURING my tattoo. On top of that he was coughing in his arm every 2 minutes after telling me he just returned from traveling the day before while giving me a tattoo about a foot away from my face, so close I could smell his damn breath. I had a pretty good experience at Ambrotos! Michael was my piercer. He had a very chill, casual vibe which helped calm me because I was really nervous to get my tragus pierced. I was so nervous that I forgot to use the $10 off when you check-in! I'm so sad about that :(( It doesn't affect my review though; it wasn't their fault. Don't forget to check-in, friends! The piercing was $40 even plus tip. I recommend to bring cash for tip, because I couldn't add tip to the card. I would call ahead of time to double check their hours! Yelp and Google say they're open Monday - Sunday. I went there Monday and they were closed. I was planning to go on Tuesday, but piercings are Wednesday - Sunday and walk-in only. Definitely recommend calling ahead of time! Michael was great -- I would definitely recommend him to my friends. Honestly .... Save your money. If I could leave zeros starts due to the way I was spoken to I would. I had my nose pierced here, it was fine then it then fell out about 2-3 weeks later . I came back to ask the piercer to push it back in , he did but he push it in crooked. It was super slanted and I asked him why , he said it was only because it was swollen. Following his instructions I just waited. As time when by I started getting a bump on my nose * which is pretty normal for nose rings* and due to the bump a lot of attention went back on my nose , I went back to the shop and he gave me instructions on what to do for the bump but the piercing was STILL out of place. I came back multiple time for the same issue guys ... eventually got tired and received 2 other opinions from different shops. One of them said to me " it's obvious what was done here , he just doesn't want to admit it". I called back Ambrotos and asked for a manager ( I had come into the shop earlier that day but the piercer wasn't there ) I told the manager about my concern and all this man could think of doing was to belittle me , yell at me, and tell me what I was saying didn't make any sense . As a MANAGER , shouldn't your job be to de-escalate situations? I told him about the advice I had received from the other shops and he said " it was an attack on him " which really it wasn't , I was calling to get help for a piercing I had done at his shop. He said he offered me a free piercing and I supposedly said no. Which was never the case. After he is finished yelling at me through the phone he hangs up the phone on me. I called back and he declines the call . Granted the Piercer himself was never rude to me , yes I do feel like I was running around in circles. Had he told the truth I would have taken care of the problem earlier. But the manager has no sense of customer service and communicates like a 5 year old boy. It is truly ridiculous . I came here with my friend for her to get her nipples pierced. Michael comes off as unfriendly because of his deadpan face but he's very friendly and funny. My friend got her nipples pierced and they were fine, the right one was a little uneven. I decided to also get mine done a few weeks later. Mine were absolutely horrible. The first thing I noticed was that he didn't wipe/sanitize my nipples. He went straight to marking them (he did wipe my friends). He marked them perfectly however I was too ecstatic to really take a good look at them right after they were done. I looked at them later and they were horrible. One of the piercings was too deep behind the nipple, and the barbell was too small to the point where there no gap for swelling. This nipple was really unhappy whenever it swelled. The right nipple was way too shallow and visibly uneven. The barbell went in on one side and went out almost at the middle of the nipple. It was so visibly different even to other people. I went to see other professionals for opinions and they all said the same thing: take both out. A week after I got them done! 110 down the drain for me. read more

I've gotten some tattoos done here which were fine until everyone seems to have quit except Tim. I've really wanted to get my septum pierced. Called on Tues and they told me to just walk in Weds so I leave work and come in Weds only to find out their piercer just up and quit on them (not their fault) but Tim tells me he'll give me a discount on the septum for my trouble and to call before coming in on Thurs. I called and Michael answered the phone and quickly said he didn't do septum piercings, sorry bye. Both Emily and Michael have pierced me - Emily for my cartilage and Michael for my third lobe. The area of the tattoo parlor that they pierce in (a separate room) is very clean and they only use sterile supplies. They are both extremely knowledgeable about the process and made both of them nearly painless. With each piercing comes their special instructions for piercing care and additionally the special salt that you mix with water to clean the piercing. This made aftercare very easy. I think the prices are very fair and they truly care about their clients needs. They both offered up their cell phone numbers if I had any questions or concerns about my new piercings. Got my first tattoo from Ambrotos about 3 years ago from a dude named Tim. He did a great job on my tramp stamp (haha) so I went back to look for him when I was ready for another tat. Sadly, he was gone. I took a look at the portfolios lying around and I really liked Violet's work. Came back a few days later when she was in and explained my idea- just a bunch of random stars in different sizes and colors and about the size of my hand on my clavicle/chest area. She drew something up in maybe 15-20 mins and it was pretty close. She added some starbursts and BAM- my tattoo was ready! She was pretty cool the whole time she was working on it and made small talk to distract me. Because I'm super ticklish, I kept holding my breath and that led me to me getting light headed and having to take a break (I know, what a dork). Violet was patient and didn't have an attitude, just told me to take deep breaths and take my time collecting myself. I was done in about an hour. A couple of the lines are slightly shaky but in fairness, I know I jumped a couple of times because it tickled. All in all, I like my tat and am happy with it. 8 months later, the color looks fresh and I get lots of compliments on it. Ambrotos only gets 3 stars b/c even though the Violet and Tim were helpful and skilled, every single time I have been in there the staff ignores customers and acts like they're doing people a favor by talking to them. I don't expect a parade for coming in but at least be polite! Also, it's expensive but you get what you pay for. Had an awful experience in attempting to get a tattoo here. I went with a couple of friends hoping to get finger tattoos. The woman at the desk indicated that they don't do them, which is fine. She then went on to say that an artist in the shop could do out but the would refuse to do any touch ups. As we turned to leave, she asked us if someone famous had that tattoo, since so many girls were coming in asking for it. It felt rude and insulting. I recently got my nipples pierced by Meghan! She is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! If you are considering a piercing, this shop is where it's at. I was told she works Monday - Thursday 12pm- 9pm. George is the piercer on the weekends. This is my second time having my nipples pierced. The first time was literally 2 weeks ago. I was not happy with the placement. Seemed like a rushed piercing. Idk. Whatever the case I took them out the same day. Waited 2 weeks to heal. The recommend time is 3+ weeks. Mine healed pretty quickly. ANYWAYS! I highly Recommend this place. I am a huge fan of Ambrotos. I have been going there for 10 years with new crazy ideas for tattoos and they are always supportive. If you talk to these people, they are so interesting. They make you feel like part of the family for the time you are there and they are very skilled. They admit that they are more expensive than some other tattoo salons, but they are also more clean and knowledgeable about their trade. Anything not tattooed on the legs or arms are subject to a price increase. I'm not sure why, but thats what they say! I'd also recommend Bill or Violet. At first they charged my $800 ($400 per butterfly), then the artist was like "that's retarded, it shouldn't be more than $250 per..." They already rang up my card, but they were able to refund me half of what they charged. I left my artist a really nice tip b/c he noticed the mistake... She told us they were closing up soon and that we should've came earlier. This wasn't my first bad experience here.
