Stopped in while in the area for a quick after work drink. As we arrived it was extremely packed as we did not know they have in house bingo on Wednesdays. The inside bar area is on the darker more intimate side and was very busy. It took us maybe 10 minutes to get to the bar and order drinks which wasn't horribly long to wait. We then went out back and managed to find an open table to sit. The outside area is great for groups. Parking was a bit rough as it is street parking is limited and it appears most people take up two spots to parallel park. However there is free public parking at the train station two blocks over. Service was good but they appeared overwhelmed by the large crowds. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed by the time we arrived around 720pm on a Wednesday so we were not able to try any of the menu. read more

I have always loved Ambulance for the beer variety but due to having a child we hadn't been here in a while. Got the opportunity to come tonight and the food was on another level! I went to the Nanuet Street fair and discovered the ambulance brewery they had Excellent Pilsner beer! I also tried the Octoberfest which was also very good. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The place was small but very nicely decorated. They had a really nice back patio and the street had tables set up. Up the block was a bandstand with a local band playing some really great music. This was a great place for a nice evening. The crowd was awesome and I had a great time. I will be back next year for this annual street fair. read more

Great pit stop on a crummy Sunday afternoon. The game was on (but not too loud - save for the siren they blast whenever someone scores!) and the beer was a-flowin'! They take their tap brew very seriously, it's like they have a moment of silence whenever one of the kegs "kicks". Like the passing of a good friend who's no longer with us. We had the guac (good), the sliders (very good), brisket sandwich (the cole slaw was awesome), BBQ chicken quesadilla. We finished with the campfire dessert pie. This is not for the faint of heart. My dad (89-year-old sugar addict) could not finish it fast enough. That should be enough of a warning. It's basically a s'more on flatbread - quite lovely and quite sweet. The vibe is super-chill and the staff is friendly and happy to share what they know about food and beer. So this place is a little odd. The bar does not have bar stools. Which is fine for me because I love to stand but I like to have the option to sit. When you look at all the people standing at the bar from behind, it almost looks like a bunch of dudes lined up at a urinal. The chairs at the tables are so uncomfortable you almost feel like you HAVE to stand to get away from the butt ache. Food was decent - nothing to party over but still good. Extremely smoky flavor. Bar pie is big. Decent amount of taps but Growler and Gill still has more quantity and more quality beer selection. The beer tastes crisp and clean. You can tell they take care of their place. First time there today for lunch. I've been looking for a new lunch place and this fit the bill. It is a bit hard to find, back from the sidewalk, but inside it was cool, with a quiet, almost dungeon like vibe (in the best sense), and NO TV's!! Bartenders were very friendly as were the people who sat down next to me at the bar. I had the Nashville chicken sandwich. Wasn't a big fan of the waffle it comes on but loved the fact that they experiment and it surprised me. Beer was excellent. The vibe was friendly. The atmosphere secluded, with lots of private niches in an almost "speak easy" theme. Will become a new goto place for me and a great place to get out of the heat. read more

Not sure what something tastes like but are intrigued by the name and description?--then ask for a sample. 5 small glasses/flights will cost ya $12, but thats pretty awesome since you get a taste of everything. There are NOT any seats at the bar, so grab a table while you can. The food menu is small, but has various things to choose from. The mozz and artichoke wrap for $10 was tasty and hit the spot. The Ambulance Brew House was once a local ambulance core, but has since been converted into a brewpub. I've had it bookmarked since I saw it across the street from my barber, so I went on a Saturday night. They have a large tap selection (20 taps), with many beers I had never heard of. The interior is small, but they have a nice outdoor patio with couches, tvs, and high tables. I picked up a flight from the bar and brought it to their outdoor area, where a waiter took our food order. I did like their house brewed ale, and I like how they served my flight on a chalkboard tray. For food, we got the bangers and mash, BBQ sampler, a bacon with ranch drizzle bar pie, and the campfire dessert pizza. The two pizzas were amazing, but the other items were passable. This is a new hangout spot choice of mine. They have a nice front area, and an even nicer back porch with a TV and darts. The place used to be an old ambulance building (hence the name) and they have old pics up everywhere of what it used to look like. They have a very good beer list, a lot of beers that I have not seen in most places. If i was going to order food, I would go with the bar pies, some of the best I have ever had. They are cracker thin, perfectly crispy and small enough to share a bunch of them. You also have to get the campfire pie, marshmallow, nutella, and graham cracker, I have been dreaming of it ever since I first bit into it. The staff was very friendly as well. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a relaxing sitdown meal away from the rain. Inside there's only a few tables (with lots of seating outside, but again, bad weather); however we were able to grab seating for two. While the food menu if standard, the beer list is anything but. Lots of craft brew options for just about any taste. To pair with a couple of IPAs, shared the Guacamole and Chips ($6) and Smoked BBQ Combo ($13). Guac is light, heavy on the tomato if that's your thing, and served with slightly salty/crisp tortilla chips. The BBQ combo includes 4 wings, 3 ribs, and a cup of mac salad. Wings fall off the bone, smothered in a tangy sauce; easy to eat. Ribs have a lot of girth and cooked well - not as juicy as the wings though still solid. Mac salad gives a nice breather to the meats. No complaints about this spot - quick service, good eats, fantastic beer. Perfect when it's a good day out. read more

Walked in to a crowded, overwhelming, tight and narrow space. We didn't know it was a special brunch and brew event. Think strollers, kids, and adults crammed everywhere. I guess it's only acceptable to drink beers as a parent with your babies around if it's at brew pub or brewery. The outside area was also jam packed, but looks like a cool space to hang out when it's less crowded. We decided to tough it out and made our way to the bar. Super friendly bartender. I started out with #13 AleSmith Hawaiian Speedway Stout w/ toasted coconut, vanilla bean, and Ka'u coffee from Hawaii. It was pure awesomeness! Hubby had #14 Pizza Boy Sunny Side Up Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout and he enjoyed it as well. By this time, the brunch time was ending, and people were starting to disperse. We grabbed a small table against the wall and set up shop. The kitchen needed a half hour to turn over the menu for lunch so we had to hold off on ordering food, which wasn't a problem for us. We ordered our second round of beers and this time I tried Trinity Menacing Kumquat Saison with winter kumquat. Wow. Citrusy, refreshing, and good! I had another one of those and by that time the kitchen was ready and we ordered some bar pies. The Margherita and buffalo chicken pies were good. I liked the Margherita pie the best though. Loved it! I love anything with a " theme" so this place was perfect! Cozy and warm and they also have some seats outside! We got lucky and were able to get a table right away because a group of people moved outside. The beers were excellent, very nice variety and you are always offered a taste to make sure you like it before you commit. As a non meat eater I did find a few menu choices that worked but settled on the pretzels which were great. Is it just me or is this place a bit of a hidden gem? My husband and I were visiting the area for a wedding and looking to grab a bite to eat the night before. Found this place on Yelp and immediately noticed the solid 5 star rating so we decided to check it out. I immediately liked the look and feel of the bar. The decor/vibe is a bit hipster but not too much so. Also, I have to say that the playlist was super fab. It wasn't too busy for a Friday night so we stuck around to have some food and drinks. We couldn't decide which beers to order from their giant tap list, so our server suggested we tell her a bit about what we like and she would put together a beer flight for us to share. This was such a perfect idea, and I'm so glad she offered. The bartender did a great job selecting beers that both my husband and I enjoyed despite the fact that our tastes our slightly different. The beer flight came on a little round chalkboard tray numbered so that you could easily match up the beers to the giant menu on the wall. This was such a great way to mark the beers -- some places are not good at this and it's up to you to remember all the beers in your flight. Not at Ambulance Brew House. My husband and I also shared a chicken quesadilla and a pesto bar pie (10" pizza). The spicy corn salsa that came with the quesadilla was awesome. I've been to Ambulance twice and have had an amazing experience both times. From the selection to the atmosphere, everything is great. The bartenders, specifically Chris and Mark, are extremely knowledgeable about the tap list and will recommend the perfect beer according to your personal tastes. My current favorite is the Carton Rickey. For that beer I paid $7 which is more than reasonable. Some beers may be a little pricier, but it's expected at a craft bar. My only, little, tiny baby complaint was the food. The menu is currently very limited, and kind of unexpected. Instead of personal pan pizzas, I'd love to see a selection of local cheese and meat platters, maybe some salads, or sharing plates. This place is brand new so I expect them to work everything out soon, but even still, I will keep coming back. *Edit: I see in another review that the menu has expanded. The calm, mature, top class Nanuet craft beer stop. I found the food to be very much improved since the opening stages. Bartenders, especially Chris, are highly knowledgeable and passionate "beer geeks" ... Some of which are defected from that other craft beer mecca across Rt 59 with a constantly shifting business model. Quieter, softer, more intimate, and ultimately more relaxing than similar area offerings, I'm here at least once a week. Still offering nice outdoor porch area for you wild smoking beer-hall yutes, you have a choice of venue for your craft beer experience. The outside area is beautiful and like your rich uncle's patio deck, not plastic folding sticky tables from Costco and moldy umbrellas, reeking all the while of stale beer. It's as nice as my den, maybe nicer, just with the roof ripped off. And the service is certainly better than my den. 22 taps, two of them cask, some nitro, gives a nice broad range of styles to try. Turnover is quick, so don't hesitate to get the good stuff right away... there might only be a sixtel to start with, and I've probably already drank half of it. Granted, there's not 86 taps like BJ's Brewjoke, but remember that 84 of their beers are watered down internal chain corporate cartoon beers you might as well buy at Pathmark or Citgo. (Not beer, but Malt Liquor!) Dennis the owner is as Irish as they come; and the attitude and professionalism closely follow what I'd expect in a proper pub in my ancestral Gailliamh. The place is spotless, the bathrooms are spotless, Chris et al take great pride in the decor and hygiene.
