Went there tonight. Expected to pay via Apple wallet and was told after we'd ordered that they don't accept. Why not? Doesn't cost them a dime more to use it than using physical credit or debit. No signs to convey this, and the manager or owner (bald guy in his 30s or 40s) says "We don't have signs saying we DO accept Apple Pay either." Of course they've no signs saying they accept cash, debit, or credit either. I'd get it if I'd tried to pay in Bitcoin. Offered to Zelle someone on staff and was declined. Didn't have cards with me because I'm awaiting replacements due to a) loss and b) fraudulent activity. Drove home, leaving my son and brother who's on the spectrum there, and back. Large outdoor space and kid friendly! A parking lot in the back available. Follow them on social media as they run some weekly specials like their Thursday Prime Rib night. I'm sorry to say, I went here with high expectations..Ordered the $17, beet and goat cheese salad which was very skimpy! ..it was perhaps a cup full..really disappointing..the train passing through, and only to be separated by a wooden fence in the outdoor seating,is surely a distraction. My partner and I have been coming to Morgan's where we sit at the bar for pints and late lunch for 3 or 4 years now sometimes every weekend. When we first visited Morgan's, I was a little nervous because it was clearly an old-school kind of pub for 'regulars' and the clientele during the day were at least a couple decades older than us and pretty of rough around the edges. There was also a review back then where someone had specifically said it was an unwelcoming place for LGBTQ people. But, we love a perfectly poured Guinness and a no-frills kind of atmosphere so gave it a try. We loved Morgan's! The pints were perfectly poured in proper tradition, and the wings were literally so good it's what pulled me out of being a vegetarian (and for years our weekends at Morgan's were the only time I'd eat meat!). But most of all, the bartenders are so kind, funny and welcoming. Mary, Christian, Joe, Carol- they've all been a hoot, can be real fire crackers, and each one of them made efforts to introduce themselves with a handshake, and to remember our names and even our orders and many pints we'd like (aka they already had that Guinness pour going before we had to order the next). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even the older gruff dudes at the bar became fun to chat with despite us probably not having much actually in common.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I remember even one Juneteenth when we were there at the bar and a few of them were griping about the new 'liberal' holiday and asking us what we thought. It actually turned into a really nice conversation- they were all open to learning more about the history and even if it wasn't their 'thing' you could tell they overall had a live and let live vibe. BUT.. I am so sad to say that something has really changed over the last year. The usual conversation we over hear at the bar have become really nasty- the guys in the middle of the afternoon wasted, ranting and raving about their political views and hatred for people who value things differently from their own, sayings really nasty (aka vulgar, racist) comments about candidates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]During the Olympics, political season and even sports conversation I hear them speak about gay and especially trans people very negatively and even violently, use the "f" word...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For good or bad I kind of expect this stuff on occasion, especially in some of the old school watering holes.. but it's gotten beyond a random and unusual occurrence. It's been happening almost every time we go. Some of these guys are so angry and hateful- they are ranting and raving, building off of each other, spitting out all these just really nasty things that go even beyond just political stuff. It's really uncomfortable, and it's fair to say it's pretty obvious we are often the only gay couple at the bar.. which has never felt super uncomfortable until this year. Even our wonderful bartenders who we adore have noticed it at least a couple times, coming over and quietly apologizing for the guys or sending us a couple drinks on the house and a sympathetic look. I think they try to gently get the guys to take down the tone a little, but I don't think it's been working, and at the end of the day it is clear these others at the bar have been coming here way longer than us, have beliefs that are more accepted than ours, and a sense of entitlement to vent those in a way that we have never had. I've never felt like such a minority in a place I've treasured so much. After the last time a couple weeks ago, I decided I don't think I can go back there again, which is really, really sad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The actual restaurant and outdoor seating I think are not nearly as bad, but we are total barflies and can't imagine sitting anywhere else especially with the awesome bartenders.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is really, really sad and unfortunately Morgan's is starting to live up to the stereotype and reviews that existed years ago, even after the new owners are trying to bring in a younger/trendier crowd (who I've noticed almost never sit at the bar).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am sympathetic that a lot of the clientele have been Morgan's regulars forever, but if they want their classic pub to survive in a tough economic climate and bring in new generations of customers, the long-timers and not just the staff need to appreciate all who come, act civilly, and support the same awesome watering hole we do. read more

Menu is simple and that's how I like it when I go to a bar/restaurant. I usually get the Hamburger or steak with fries. It goes well with the beer I drink, lol. If you're in Tappan area and want a nice atmosphere of local residents and good solid food, come to Morgan's. The last time I went, my wife and I took the baby with us and the hospitality was great. Nice little Irish pub with a very local vibe. Stopped in here on my way outta town after a local book signing and wanted to grab some wings. Saw these guys listed and decided to give it a shot. When I go to small towns I've never been to, I tend to want to feel the local vibe within. This place had it in spades. Bartenders were funny, helpful and the drinks were made to perfection. The wings were a little on the thickly battered side, but if that's your thing, then they were about as good as it gets. Glad I stopped in. We've been coming here for the past 5 years back when Kerri Horgan was the chef and left her mark on the quality of the food being served here. Menu hasn't changed nor has the quality of the food. We had the special Café Salad with added grilled chicken (an abundant portion too!) and the Smash burger. We sat outside, service was fast and the food came out promptly. Perhaps the bad reviews were due to a bad night in the kitchen, which happens in every restaurant but tonight that wasn't our experience for 6 PM on a Sunday. Had lunch at this great restaurant. Annie our hostess treated us like family. A nice warm room filled with pictures of old Ireland. My mother started with a delicious Malibu Bay Breeze. Crispy over sized delicious wings were next. Annie brought us out a few of their home made wing sauces. Not going to find better wings in Bergen or Rockland county. We then ate 2 delicious steak sandwiches with carmelized onions and Mutz on toasty garlic bread hero with crispy seasoned shoestring fries. First time! To be honest was expecting more....but...had lots of fun. The outdoor seating is great. The outside waitress Theresa is amazing! Sooo very good. The chef wasn't in on this Friday evening so we were given (printed - guessing not his first night not there) menus of a small selection to order from. Wings were fantastic. Quesadilla was good too. Made a recent trip to NYC for business and had to make my way out to a client near this place. Stopped in for lunch with a friend and immediately felt like I was in a local "Cheers" bar! The guys hanging around the bar were awesome. Sat in the back, and there wasn't a lot of people in there, so got a little nervous. We ordered the bacon and onion dip. Oh MY Gosh Y'all. This was THE BEST dip I've ever eaten. It tasted like French Onion Soup Heaven. I could not believe how good it was, in fact, it was the best meal we had on our entire 4 day trip to NYC. This was my favorite place for years however they just switched to new management and the quality of food went down severely. It is crushing to see such a staple place change so poorly. I have been coming here with my family for over a year now and the service is very friendly, all the staff get to know you and they appreciate their customers! They have an amazing outdoor section that is perfect for these challenging dining times. Their food is great when their normal menu is in effect. As the pandemic is still upon us the menu is shorter now but really great to experience when things get back to normal. Their prices are very reasonable and their dinner portions are large enough for dinner as well as enough leftover for lunch the next day. Lastly, even the patrons are very cool, hanging in the bar I was able to strike up a number of conversations, a real hometown kinda' bar. read more

Did a Yelp search for what's good in the area and this popped up. Really wasn't too sure what to expect when we walked in. The minute we opened the front door, the entire bar turned around to look at us including a chick with a big shiner. We walked to the back of the place where the tables are and we were seated in the corner. Service is tremendous here - amazing. Drinks are poured nicely and they carry Hendricks :) I ordered the shepherds pie - he ordered the shell steak. Both came with a salad. Salad was extremely fresh - even the tomatoes were perfect. My dish was fabulous. Cooked with lamb - it was seasoned perfectly. I never tasted his steak but he said it was good. We didn't get dessert but did look at the menu. They have a really good looking bread pudding that I want to try next time we go back :) read more

The service my friends and I received was horrendous. We went in at 8 o'clock on a Friday night and were not given plates to split appetizers, napkins, etc to begin. This was only the beginning of our issues. My friend did not get his beer for 30 minutes as the waitress "forgot". And the waitress also took 70 minutes to get my friends and I each the smash burger on the menu and never once did they say sorry, comp us drinks, or even remotely addressed the issue. We did only tip 10% because we thought it was ridiculous that hamburgers could take over an hour to make. Never have I waited for food this long at a restaurant and we were ready to walk out. We got the wings and shared a chicken Caesar salad. the real winner here is the service. Our server, he may even be the owner, so personable. We really enjoyed our stop here and it was such a great way to start our weekend trip. Didn't get drinks because we were driving but excellent place to have drinks outside.
