Kaylee the person who was in training was doing a color consultation and I was aware she's still in training but the owner had a horrible condescending attitude with her in front of me an another client to the point it made me uncomfortable telling Kaylee to not be nervous that she should know how to do a consultation despite still being in "training". The owners attitude is super condescending and unprofessional to the point where I did not want to return if she was there. Kaylee does an amazing job definitely recommend her! It's crazy to me that this salon was such a great reputation has let down a new client that way. I was really hoping for a good outcome and really wanted this to be my new spot but it looks like I'm still looking for another place to go. I'm sorry I didn't work out with this salon.

There's booking info on her IG if you're interested. I know it can be hard to find a nail tech but as far as I'm aware, she's still taking new clients. I started seeing Kayla because she offers the Aprés Gel-X nail extensions. They're like acrylic nails, but gel. They last longer on me, look more natural, are more flexible, and much much quicker than building acrylics or gel nails. Also, they're much less damaging on my nails since they don't life the way acrylics do on me. So if those are issues you've had in the past, hit Kayla up! She's super sweet, and has a lot of colors, glitters, and stamps to pick from.

After install I asked was that enough hair, she insisted it was & my hair would blend on its own. She never styled my hair. Only brushed it. My hair color faded a week later and with not having enough hair I couldn't wear down. Hair reacted badly to redken. Spent several hours detangling. Would get super dry/wooly/shed. She continued to insist Indian hair is like &don't use redken again. Then she added 3rd row I AGAIN asked for her to cut to blend she refused saying I needed to train my hair/use hair spray. I AGAIN had to go back for my color and I told her about my concerns with the quality shedding/tangling asking her about the hair being cuticle aligned she insisted PERFECT LOCKS supplies quality hair & I asked AGAIN FOR IT TO BE BLENDED(CUT)She refused, dying it supposedly will fix it. Hair faded quickly again. I HAVE COARSE NATURAL CURLY HAIR I dont frequently wash my hair. She could be using cheap dye. I just know after a couple of washes, with having my hair covered no sun hitting it, definitely shouldn't be FADED. I ONLY USE THE BEST OF PRODUCTS. It's a shame how much was wasted on this trash hair...move up was July 5th she finally agreed to do a UCUT, entire cut with a razor. Not using scissors once. It got super dry. Hair mask couldn't help revive it. I tried combing it through it started DREADING UP. The hair was wrapping all around each other: like the cut being all different lengths(the lengths BEING DONE WITH A RAZOR EXPOSED WHAT THAT HAIR REALLY IS , THE TRUTH. ITS NOT ANYTHING AMY CLAIMED. She blamed me when I texted her. Said extensions weren't for me. But didn't respond back to remove them. I went to sleep with dreadlocks the size of baseballs. We tried for hours that night to get them out. I tried contacting her again Sunday, no answer. I went to another location and had to pay for attempt to detangle there they told me that hair is mixed with synthetic & is not Indian hair. They said I had to remove it immediately or I will loose even more of my hair. They made videos/pictures of the entire process. I spent total of 175$ there while Amy ignored me. Was humiliated while they saw her ignore me. They couldn't believe how much I spent on that hair. I was SCAMMED BIGTIME. Amy knew I was new in the area, worked long hours and had special events coming up and was basically at her mercy. She didn't do anything she claims to do on her website/intro other reviews and pics of other clients. I never once left that salon with my hair styled in a manner I could leave & take one picture of my hair. After researching more & more online I saw everyone else blended&styledincluded in the service. My hair should have been right the first time. Not only did she sew garbage hair in my head causing my own hair to be cut out of my head, she scammed me on services never doing any of those things that are necessary with extensions. EXTENSIONS ARE MEANT TO LOOK NATURAL NOT OBVIOUS. After this I got beautiful extensions REAL NATURAL CURLY ktip had them over a month haven't had one issue. They don't matt, dread,tangle, take hours of my time. I'm not wasting $$$ products just to make them manageable. That's quality hair. I don't recommend using this business unless you want to keep going back, giving your money away, don't let the location fool you like i did. I have never been taught how to take care of my fine curly hair, and it showed. Hair dressers in the past would always heed my request to style it straight because no one really knew how to style it either. Mimi was incredible at not only cutting and styling, but also teaching me the best practices for taking care of it at home. While she dry-cut my hair, she had me read a book on curly hair care, which also helped me figure out the type of curl I have and how to clean/style it. She also pointed out some clear flaws in my last cut and how obvious it was that I used a cheap home color system, which she also explained the reason why they are so bad for my hair. She explained very thoroughly all of the products she was using and why. I loved them so much that I bought them all and gave her a 20% tip. She did so well styling it that it was the first time I was able to replicate my new hair style the next day, and it didn't take nearly as long as I expected. Found this salon for my sister when I was researching salons in Columbus area who specialized in natural African American hair. And though that is not the salon's niche, one of the stylists, Aleka Poole, seemed to not only have a great deal of experience in that area, but also lots of beaming reviews. And I know why! She was very personable, professional, and informative. She took her time and listened to my sister. She gave her a great shaping cut and advice on what to do to in between visits. My sister is not one to spend lots of time on her hair, so Aleka kept the routine simple. Overall the experience was pleasant. Would definitely recommend her to anyone with curly hair...she knows her stuff. Be warned...she is booked 4-6 weeks out, so plan accordingly. read more

Amy is an outstanding stylist, curly hair specialist, and teacher. She has been cutting my hair for years and I still learn something new every time I visit that allows me to do a better job of taking care of my hair myself in no time. Adriana Anguiano - I saw a highlight job that Adriana did and was very impressed. Even though she was an intern, I decided to give her a try. I absolutely love my cut and can honestly say it is probably one of the best cuts I have had in the last 20 years. I explained to her that I am attempting to grow my hair out but the longer it gets the stringier my curls look and do not like that. I was in the area for a few days and saw Ambushed while driving through town. I walked in without and appointment, assuming I wouldn't be able to get a cut. I couldn't have been more surprised when Amy offered to fit me in. The entire experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Everyone was so nice and I am more than happy with my cut. I've had haircuts with quite a few stylists in Columbus but Ambushed is the only place that hasn't let me down. Today, I had Ester cut my hair and she did an amazing job. She talked me through how to do it at home (and what I could do instead if i just wanted to air dry) Which products to use and why. How much product to use. It took an hour and 45 minutes but the time flew by. Not only do I have an awesome haircut but my hair is on the road to recovery. Also, I feel confident I can replicate at home. This is huge. She is the first person to ever do my hair curly and have me leave. feeling so good about myself. I wanted to cry with relief and true happiness. I highly highly recommend the salon. If you have naturally curly hair, you must try. I don't think you'll go back. The price is completely worth it because of the expertise and education in addition to the cut wash and style. So I went to the studio on bridge and the owner kindly gave me a consultation and for me set up with Maia to fix the color. Maia was amazing and got my hair to look almost exactly like the inspiration picture I brought in. She was kind, knowledgeable and set realistic expectations. Wonderful experience. While I won't be returning to that big name salon again, the studio on bridge has a lifelong customer in me now!

I told her you have to manipulate my curls, I wanted them defined and I wanted ringlet curls. My hair is frizzy wavy and curly all in one, I'm mixed. All she did was scrunch my hair, my hair doesn't look curly to me is looks like noodles or an example or prince/Michael Jackson when their hair was scruntched hahaha. But there isn't a single ringlet in my hair even though I get those anyway when my hair is natural. Also my hair came out hard again like the kind of hard you get with gel. Now I wish I had been to Aleka sooner and had my beautiful curls in the photos of special days. I get tons of compliments on her work, and the best part is how confident I feel about styling my own hair now that she's taught me the right way to treat it. She answers all questions with such expertise and understanding and makes her clients feel so comfortable while she educates them. You get to walk away looking incredible and confident that you can handle your hair after the next wash. I can't recommend her enough, even if you can only get in a few months from now, it is so worth the wait to soak up her knowledge and feel taken care of. She really listens to her clients and makes you feel like family. Her warm energy and professionalism are unmatched in my opinion. I won't be going anywhere else for hair cuts as long as I'm living in Columbus!

A friend of mine at work whose curly locks always look fantastic recommended Hannah, and boy am I ever glad I took her recommendation. I have a Ouidad stylist in Scottsdale who I see every year or so, and I had been going to Ambushed for the last several years with mediocre results (it was also extremely costly and the owner has no consideration for your time and doesn't own up to her mistakes - do not go there). As I was sitting in Hannah's chair, I could see the transformation of my 4 1/2 month growth with every snip. She blended the shelf that I had been complaining about to the owner of Ambushed and my hair now actually looks like it's a seamless style. I am in love with Hannah and would have hugged her on my way out, but social distancing would not allow. I have already scheduled by next appointment for September. I was excited to find another place that offers curly cuts/Deva cuts and thought this could be a great alternative when in need. They got me in within a week for a curly cut with a woman who I'll refer to as "J". J had good reviews on yelp so I gladly accepted the appt. Upon arriving, I told her that I only wanted a dusting and she even agreed that my hair was very healthy and barely needed trimmed. I explained that I'll be getting highlights in the next few months and that i don't want to cut too much right now because I'd plan on cutting after the highlight appt (due to the damage processing can do to our curls). She acted like she understood (or At least i took it that way) and she spent about 10-15 mins cutting my hair. I felt like she was cutting a lot but couldn't see from the chair to the mirror (plus the lighting was very dim) so i didn't know for sure. I opted for no wash/style after the cut because i was just kind of bothered by the whole thing. I got up to look at my cut and saw way more hair than I'd expected on the floor. I said "wow, you cut a lot of hair off" and she replied with saying "you have a lot of hair". I didn't think that much more of it at the time until I got home and saw how much shorter my hair really was. While I don't think the actual cut itself looks terrible, I'm very upset by how J completely disregarded my wishes and cut a good 3"+ off my hair. Other curly girls will especially understand why it's so upsetting to have a stylist unexpectedly cut off so much hair. Growing curly hair is a lot of work and i think a lot of us struggle to get to a length we're comfortable with. Thankfully, I was able to get in with my usual salon to fix and re-shape my hair this week. J seemed like a nice person but obviously not a good listener. Plus, to completely disregard a clients wishes is unprofessional in my opinion. I'll include some before and after shots. ** Update: While having this hair "trim" fixed by my usual salon, they noticed that J ruined all the layers that had been in my hair. Where there should be long layers, there were some of the shortest. It was all backwards. So now I'm questioning if J truly knows how to cut hair? Or was she just incredibly careless with me? We had to do damage control and cut more just to even out the damage she did to my shape. I wish I would've known that a simple trim would turn into a huge haircut. I would've better mentally prepared myself.

My visit: I came in for a cut and partial highlight because the prices seemed on point, the salon looked beautiful and inviting, and I could book an appointment with multiple stylists. I chose Marissa, because she had some openings on a day I had off of work. Marissa did an amazing job on my color and highlight. She was so personable and friendly, and listed to exactly what I wanted, and what my concerns were right at the beginning. She understood precisely what I was going for and NAILED IT with the color. I chickened out on the haircut after all, but I would definitely trust her to cut my hair in the future. The products used were incredible, smelled great and did not leave smells on my hair after the highlights were done. The look is so natural to me and left me feeling confident. Mission even offers you a 10 dollar reward on your next service and some product discounts when you review on Yelp or Vagaro or Google. I highly recommend Mission and Marissa; I will be back when my highlights need freshened up.

My hair is super black and I've always had brassy tones and she is able to get me super ashy blonde. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to ulta/salon lofts/ studio elements of what I was paying before (sometimes even cheaper). But regardless, I've never been able to get in and out of the salon in 2-2.5 hours for my difficult hair and Taelor delivers! The receptionists and everyone is so friendly, plus they carry Oribe and Unite products. They recycle everything they use and provide referral discounts too.
