This place is a really nice a salon with a nice ambiance, very calming and comfortable. My only issue was the owner, I think her name is Niki. Kaylee the person who was in training was doing a color consultation and I was aware she's still in training but the owner had a horrible condescending attitude with her in front of me an another client to the point it made me uncomfortable telling Kaylee to not be nervous that she should know how to do a consultation despite still being in "training". I found Tame Salon on Groupon because they had a great deal for a balayage so I decided to try it! I've never gotten a balayage but figured this would be a great opportunity. I was able to schedule someone pretty quick, but he Groupon did not say you could not schedule with Rachelle for the weekends, which was who I originally scheduled with and wanted. It was not a big deal as they were able to squeeze me in with Raemi the same day. When you get there it is kind of confusing to find, but the inside of the salon is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. I cannot remember the employee at the front desk, but we chatted and she offered me something to drink right away. I definitely felt welcomed! Raemi was hilarious. We had some life chats and definitely connected on a personal level. I showed her a picture of a balayage that I wanted and it was a red brown color. After my hair was done, the color turned out almost dirty blonde. I honestly tried not to show it, but I did not like it. I think Raemi caught on and she was quick to offer to fix it because I told her I wanted a warm red. I am jus the type of person who feels uncomfortable to say when i don't like something, but I am glad I did. Rachelle helped with the color mixture too. The new color came out a deep red brown and I LOVED it. My friends raved about my hair color and I could not be happier. The only thing was that they charged me an extra $10 and never told me why, but I am guessing for the redye? She never told me why. At that point I was already there for almost 3 hours and did not question it. Now this is where the 3 stars comes in unfortunately...I waited about 2 days to wash my hair and the color I walked out of the salon with faded so fast. I went into work that Monday and someone had asked if my hair was orange. It made me so self conscious about my hair and after one wash it turned into a copper color. I was extremely disappointed because I wanted the red color to last at least a couple of weeks :( I thought everyone was nice, funny, and personal so I had no issues with the employees. I'm just not satisfied with my hair and I understand I had a Groupon, but I still paid a decent amount. read more

I never write bad reviews so this is unfortunate. I've been getting my hair colored for over 10 years and while I've had bad haircuts, this is the only experience with my color being botched. When looking for someone who specializes in balayages, I called into Tame and was referred to Grace. When I got to the salon, I showed her photos of my hair fresh after I usually get it done and she said she could do it. However, I did not end up with a balayage.. I ended up with chunky, uneven highlights that came out patchy and orange. I usually have a blonde balayage blended very well due to my naturally dark hair. I expressed my dislike and after review, other stylist confirmed it wasn't what I'd asked for and shared some constructive comments on where she went wrong. They said they would fix it so I went in early on a Saturday to have multiple people work on my hair and another woman directing her on how to do my hair. I'm not sure what happened but my hair is now now a blend of the orange tones along with other lighter pieces mixed in and my roots are starkly dark compared to the lighter ends so it actually looks like I haven't been to the salon in 6 months and need a touch up which is just as wild as the first experience. What's more unfortunate is that I was charged much more than what I was quoted and I paid $345.60 (20% tip) for the service and I honestly feel robbed and worse.. insecure walking around with my hair looking like this. If you're looking to get a balayage done, please look elsewhere. I would hate for someone else to make the same costly mistake. These ladies are DEFINITELY the Blonde Experts, among all the other wonderful beautification services they have to offer! In preparation for an upcoming trip, I was on the search for a salon that would be able to correct the disaster I had made of my hair. I typically enjoy having my hair with light, almost white or silver blonde, but I had "experimented" with other colors and this had left my hair three different colors! I needed some help! I went to The Yelp Community to get their advice on a salon. I find one that sticks out... they have 5 stars and the reviews were great! And the pictures they posted reassured me I was looking into the right place. When I called Tame Salon, Kim gave me a warm greeting and I asked if there was any way I could get a consultation. She promptly got my paired up with Rachelle Bruce fir later that day. I was eager to see what Rachelle had to say about my disaster and if she could save me. The salon is very quaint but it gives off the perfect little boutique feel when you arrive. I was offered cake, wine or coffee as I walked in the door and was pleased to see business was booming here. I knew they had to be doing things right! Rachelle sat me down and in a matter of 5 minutes tops, she knew what we needed to do to get my hair back to the way I wanted it. They scheduled the appointment for me exactly when I wanted it and I couldn't wait! ** They provide text reminders for your appointments and confirmations! Love it! ** Upon my return for my appointment, I walk in and am greeted by name! THAT does not happen often in a place I have only been to once before, that was awesome! Rachelle was running a bit behind but I realize why... you cannot rush perfection and you never rush an expert! We took before pics and she was off to work! I told her I wanted to be surprised so she made sure to keep me out of the direction of the mirror. The conversation with Rachelle, Cheyanne, Nikki (hope I spelled your names correctly, ladies) was great! They were all very relaxed and extremely entertaining! After about 3 hours, Rachelle was done and had taken all the foil off, rinsed my hair, and since I didn't want to see it until it was done, she TOLD me it had turned out even better than she had hoped! OMG, was I excited to see it! She trimmed, textured and styled my hair and the end result was worthy of the red carpet and much more! I would HIGHLY recommend Tame Salon to anyone wanting great atmosphere and expert stylists that are worth every cent!! I am definitely going back! BLONDE EXPERTS!!! I love, love, love Tame, they are experts at what they do. Niki has mastered the perfect blonde for each individual, whether you want Icy, Platinum, warm blonde, Ash, Honey, and the list goes on. Total perfection!! I am very picky about the color and style of my hair. I was going to my previous stylist at a different salon, every time I went in to see my stylist (3+ years), I would request blonde, fine all over weave/highlights. The whole 3+ years I would come out with fine weave/highlights only on the visible-top layer of my hair. Once I pulled my hair back it's was all dark and very little highlights, if any, so it looked 1/2 & 1/2. Not a great look. I was talking to my neighbor right after Niki had colored and styled her hair. I said you look stunningly beautiful and I HAVE to know what salon and stylist you go to!! She said Tame and she is a client of Niki. I said I need her phone number ASAP. My neighbor's hair was exactly how I had been asking my stylist to color my hair for 3+ yrs . I immediately called and scheduled a consultation with Niki and was so impressed with her awesome talent. As I was waiting for my consultation, I was admiring every client that was leaving the salon and I was in awe!!! I actually witnessed two different clients that came to Tame to have them fix their extremely damaged hair, that another salon caused to both clients' hair. When they were finished, both clients' hair looked like hair on a model in a magazine. They shared before and after pictures and it was astonishing. They are absolutely top-notch, best of the best. Niki extremely knowledgeable, she knows so much about color, cut, styling, and color corrections/damaged hair, etc. and how to fix it the right way. She also, prides herself in training her staff on how to do everything the "right and proper" way, no shortcuts. That's what separates her salon from all the others. The first time I went in to have a platinum all over babylight, I explained to Niki what I wanted and the color that I wanted. First appointment ever with Niki and she absolutely nailed everything!! It exceeded my expectations, I was ecstatic!! My husband has always liked what the stylist has done with my hair and the color, too. He always compliments me on how beautiful my hair looks. When I arrived home after my first appt with Niki, he was like WOW, Babe, that's HOT!! He said, I can tell you are extremely happy with your her, you are glowing and I said I found THE ONE!! I must add, that everyone at the salon is amazing , happy, funny, welcoming, personable, hardworking, talented and fun. I leave there, beautiful, happy, and laughing. It feels like you're leaving a friend's house where all the girls gathered to have a great time. Not only do you leave beings friends with the staff at Tame but also other clients. It's a great vibe. Tame Salon is a cute boutique located in Gahanna. I love how diverse the employees are, equipped to handle any head of hair. My main squeeze is Rachel Bruce, the only woman I trust to cut my hair appropriately. We've been together for a long time and I'll follow her anywhere. The salon is set up smartly, with the styling and washing taking place in two separate rooms. The decor is modern as well. There is a place to hang your coat as soon as you step inside (or your umbrella depending on the day). Everyone there is sweet and many times another stylist has struck up a conversation with me which has never happened at another shop. We received multiple texts concerning our visit so they seemed on-the-ball, but we suspected something wasn't quite right when we got notice that masks were optional. We're vaccinated and have to wear masks for our front-line jobs, so this was worrisome. We were welcomed and made to feel very at home, but we quickly saw that were the ONLY people there wearing masks, including the stylists! While having our hair cut (we still wore our masks,) we discovered our unmasked stylist wasn't vaccinated! I don't understand how you can do that to your customers. Sadly, that rash, thoughtless, and risky behavior is a deal-breaker and we won't be coming back to Tame. read more

Amending my original one star review. When I first came to Tame, I was highly unsatisfied with the cut and color. It was very uneven and streaky and just bad in general. Upon reading my review on Yelp, the owner Niki reached out to me directly and was very apologetic, honest about the mistakes that were made, and offered to get me in that evening to fix it. I was reluctant to give Tame another shot, but Niki assured me that she would personally make it right. I went to have it fixed and she really did a great job. She evened out my cut and fixed the color to remove the streaky blonde and blended it in. She made sure she explained each step and I could tell she was trying to make me feel as comfortable as possible. Not only did she make the cut and color right, she refunded my original purchase which was very much appreciated. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! I went to Tame for the first time about a little over a month ago, but I just had to review because I have been recommending them to people over and over since. I am very picky about my hair and found myself caught in a pattern where every time I went to my old salon, it was never exactly what I wanted. I prefer a unique greyish/silver/blonde that my previous salon just couldn't seem to nail. When my hair ended up a warm, yellow tone (which is a nightmare with my skin tone and the opposite of what I want) after the last visit at the old salon, I knew it was time for a change. A friend recommended Tame and said the hair stylists that work there are incredible, so I was eager to try it. Incredible is an understatement in my opinion. Because my hair needed completely changed to reach that grey blonde that I wanted, Niki and Rachelle both worked on my hair at the same time to speed up the process. They're both awesome people to talk to and knew exactly what they needed to do to get me what I wanted. They ended up spending about 4 hours on my hair and while that is a very long time, I honestly expected it to be longer because I knew there was a lot to be done to fix my color. I was so impressed with their patience and attention to detail just to make sure I was 100% satisfied. Now, price is something that as a student, is very important to me. I have been blonde for years and years and sometimes my hair has cost up to $250. After all the dye, product, work and time that Niki and Rachelle put into my hair, I really did expect it to be upwards of $200. I was shocked that the total ended up being MUCH less than I expected, that was definitely a pleasant surprise. Not to mention, my hair was exactly what I wanted and I haven't been this happy with it in so long!
