With less than an hour of my appointment with Laken Hammers, she's moved my appointment from 9 am to 9:30 and her attitude was that it was my fault for not leaving wiggle room. Just a warning to all that may choose to book with her, you may or may not have a stylist at your appointment and be left with having to pay to move a date for a photo shoot. But hey I guess it's all my fault that I didn't coni my stylist couldn't make it to work on time. Below you can see how she spoke to and about me. If you're lucky she can blame you too!!!

I started seeing Kayla because she offers the Aprés Gel-X nail extensions. They're like acrylic nails, but gel. They last longer on me, look more natural, are more flexible, and much much quicker than building acrylics or gel nails. Also, they're much less damaging on my nails since they don't life the way acrylics do on me. So if those are issues you've had in the past, hit Kayla up! She's super sweet, and has a lot of colors, glitters, and stamps to pick from.

My hair color faded a week later and with not having enough hair I couldn't wear down. Hair reacted badly to redken. Spent several hours detangling. Would get super dry/wooly/shed. She continued to insist Indian hair is like &don't use redken again. Then she added 3rd row I AGAIN asked for her to cut to blend she refused saying I needed to train my hair/use hair spray. I AGAIN had to go back for my color and I told her about my concerns with the quality shedding/tangling asking her about the hair being cuticle aligned she insisted PERFECT LOCKS supplies quality hair & I asked AGAIN FOR IT TO BE BLENDED(CUT)She refused, dying it supposedly will fix it. Hair faded quickly again. I HAVE COARSE NATURAL CURLY HAIR I dont frequently wash my hair. She could be using cheap dye. I just know after a couple of washes, with having my hair covered no sun hitting it, definitely shouldn't be FADED. I ONLY USE THE BEST OF PRODUCTS. It's a shame how much was wasted on this trash hair...move up was July 5th she finally agreed to do a UCUT, entire cut with a razor. Not using scissors once. After she cut she had me put my head back in the bowl to wet and sat straight up and she sprayed leave in conditioner in and used a diffuser somewhat. No mouse curl cream. Didn't style my hair. She never did: I always wondered why she didn't style mine like she did the women in her reviews. And I paid her well and tipped her. It was like she was just treating me any kind of way. I knew it wasn't right. I had vacation less than 2 weeks away & had so much invested. I was so happy to finally have my hair blended/not have obvious embarrassing extensions. I wanted to trust her but she was treating me worse. There was an issue I noticed after driving home in the sunlight, my natural hair was black not matching. (Supposed to be dark brown) hair dye was on my face/ears, she doesn't supply remover wipes. I came straight home, got in the shower. After washing my face etc. getting my hair soaking wet. It got super dry. Hair mask couldn't help revive it. I tried combing it through it started DREADING UP. The hair was wrapping all around each other: like the cut being all different lengths(the lengths BEING DONE WITH A RAZOR EXPOSED WHAT THAT HAIR REALLY IS , THE TRUTH. ITS NOT ANYTHING AMY CLAIMED. She blamed me when I texted her. Said extensions weren't for me. But didn't respond back to remove them. I went to sleep with dreadlocks the size of baseballs. We tried for hours that night to get them out. I tried contacting her again Sunday, no answer. I went to another location and had to pay for attempt to detangle there they told me that hair is mixed with synthetic & is not Indian hair. They said I had to remove it immediately or I will loose even more of my hair. They made videos/pictures of the entire process. I spent total of 175$ there while Amy ignored me. Was humiliated while they saw her ignore me. They couldn't believe how much I spent on that hair. I was SCAMMED BIGTIME. Amy knew I was new in the area, worked long hours and had special events coming up and was basically at her mercy. She didn't do anything she claims to do on her website/intro other reviews and pics of other clients. I never once left that salon with my hair styled in a manner I could leave & take one picture of my hair. After researching more & more online I saw everyone else blended&styledincluded in the service. My hair should have been right the first time. Not only did she sew garbage hair in my head causing my own hair to be cut out of my head, she scammed me on services never doing any of those things that are necessary with extensions. EXTENSIONS ARE MEANT TO LOOK NATURAL NOT OBVIOUS. After this I got beautiful extensions REAL NATURAL CURLY ktip had them over a month haven't had one issue. They don't matt, dread,tangle, take hours of my time. I'm not wasting $$$ products just to make them manageable. That's quality hair. I don't recommend using this business unless you want to keep going back, giving your money away, don't let the location fool you like i did. I have been coming to Tame now for about 3 years. My cousin showed up to a wedding with the most perfect color of blonde. NOT BRASSY. All of us blondes know how important and difficult that can be! So she gave me Rachelle's name and number (pronounced Rachel, btw). My very first visit my hair was transformed and I never went back! They SLAY blonde! Great at other colors too, but blonde can be challenging and Rachelle is amazing. I always wanted a stylist who could help me decide what I want. Sometimes you have a vision but it's hard to communicate/execute, especially when you can tell your stylist lacks a passion for what they do. You can tell when they care and enjoy it and you can tell when they don't. Rachelle cares a lot and it shows in her enthusiasm, communication and execution of beautiful styles. My confidence sky rocketed when I started seeing her. The overall ambiance I would describe as a super dose of girl power. I love going to get my hair done and being treated like a friend. They only use the best products too! Kenra all the way! My hair always feels, looks and smells amazing when I leave. Over the past year and a half I have had bonded extensions. They have not damaged my already fine hair and are so low maintenance! Having extensions is actually less maintenance than my natural hair because I have so much more hair to work with. As someone who was 25 with virgin hair I was very nervous for my first color session. From the minute I walked into the salon, Shyane made my nerves turn into excitement with her wonderful personality. She took the time to consult with me and ensure she knew exactly what I wanted. Niki at Tame has been my hairstylist for a little over a year now and She has changed my world of hair. I explained to her my concerns, she listens to my needs, wants, and makes me feel beautiful and amazing every single time. I didn't even care who the stylist was, I just needed it done. I arrived right on time, checked in, and grabbed a beverage while I waited. It wasn't long before I was greeted by my stylist, Sage. She was easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted, and gave good advice and direction when I was tempted to do something I wasn't planning on doing. I knew exactly what I wanted, as I was looking to get the same cut I did last summer. Your basic long bob, about collar bone length. We did the washing and cutting and drying and cutting again and I was out of there in about an hour and a half. I'm really pleased with it and enjoyed Sage's approach so I made an appointment to come back in a few months. The price point was cheaper than the place I used to go to and I was way more satisfied.

A few hours after the redness subsided, I noticed several small nicks on my forehead and below my eye. This was unexpected, especially since I've had dermaplaning done many times before without ever experiencing cuts. Looking back, I believe this may have been the cause of the stinging I felt earlier in the service. Overall, my skin does look refreshed, though still slightly red, which I understand can happen. However, I also didn't receive much guidance on aftercare or what to avoid post-treatment, so I ended up having to look that up on my own. I've had good experiences here in the past, which is why this visit felt a bit disappointing. When I walked in I was super surprised to be greeted by a virtual assistant through a monitor. It was something straight out of the Jetsons. After they asked me a few questions they happened to have an opening an hour later so I swiped that one up and came back after a bit. I was randomly assigned a hairstylist, Minnie, and it was like the stars in the universe aligned because we clicked right away. She asked me all about my hair and what I was looking for. I'm a wing it type of person but I did have some things in mind. I ended up getting a trim with some wisby longish bangs and she was able to keep my length which was awesome. At the end she mentioned the different products she used in my hair and sent me home with a "care card" with recommendations on when to return and who else to see if she wasn't in. The whole experience was lovely and I'll definitely be back in a few months!

Well, I was happily surprised and am an now a convert. The salon is clean and well kept, and it's very fuss free but still nice. The front desk staff are wonderful and very helpful. Cassie in particular is fantastic. She takes time to listen to what you would like and has very constructive insight as to what might look better and the thing I love most is she is as creative as can be. I hate having the same color each time and she has delivered amazing cuts and color every time. If you're looking for a great hidden gem that is very well priced with a talented team, this is the place for you!

You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into the comfort and design of the space. Its very chic and very customer friendly. The business provides free coffee / snacks / and even alcoholic beverages to customers. I tried the coffee during my appointment -- very good! I see Taelor (topknottae) and have been seeing her for several years at different salons. She does a great job and is just the sweetest human. Each stylist has the option to create their own hours. When i went in on a Monday there were only two stylists in so it felt like a very intimate appointment -- I hate when i go to a salon and it's poppin' and people are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. If you care about product lines, this salon uses Kevin Murphy. From what I can tell its a high end brand that is exclusive to certain locations. Parking was a breeze. Navigation was a breeze.

At the time I have never really heard of such technique but I was intrigued because she said it was great if you want definitive layers and texture (which I did). I looked them up on Instagram and booked a spot with Marissa immediately. I went two separate times. Once for a cut, the other for balayage two weeks after. Both times I walked away extremely happy and feeling like a new woman. Marissa is extremely knowledgeable and will walk you through her thought process. Never have I felt so reassured to give someone full artistic liberties during my first visit. If you're in the market for a new salon, I would definitely recommend Marissa at Moss Hair Co. Tip: The lot on Main St and 4th Ave has $6 12 hour parking. Plenty of time for you to get your hair colored and not have to run out with foils in to add more money to the meter.

They have a lot of precautions put into place including taking temperatures when you enter. Additionally everyone in the salon wore their masks correctly which is not something that occurs in many places. Andy was very easy to work with and I was confident with the length (removing 12+ inches) and style that he suggested. I was very happy with my cut and look forward to visiting again. Reddit directed me to Jekyll and Hyde and I made an appointment with Beth. Beth is now my forever hair stylist until she moves on or I drop dead! I never thought I'd find someone on par with my stylist in Chicago, and somehow Beth is even better while saving me some money too. It is obvious that she not only loves but also prides herself in her work. She is meticulous and kind. And I'm always showered with compliments after I've been in for a cut!

She was transparent about the pricing as well as patient and detailed during our initial discussion of the services. So I felt safe coming to her to bleach my dark hair. She persisted in achieving the desired look despite my old red highlights that were hard to get rid of. During the 7.5 hours that I was there, she spent her every effort working on my hair. And I was in love with the final look! Lexie is skilled, hard working, and friendly, and I would be glad to come back for another service with her.
