I've visited Nurture Salon a handful of times for dermaplaning and facials, and have always had a positive experience. During my most recent visit, I decided to stick with my usual services but also add a hydrafacial for an extra refresh, as this was my first time trying that treatment there. I was a bit surprised that there wasn't much communication throughout the service. I wasn't given an explanation of what steps were being done or what to expect, which left me feeling unsure during the appointment. At one point, my face began to sting, and when I asked if that was normal, I was told yes, but there wasn't much additional context provided. A few hours after the redness subsided, I noticed several small nicks on my forehead and below my eye. This was unexpected, especially since I've had dermaplaning done many times before without ever experiencing cuts. Looking back, I believe this may have been the cause of the stinging I felt earlier in the service. Overall, my skin does look refreshed, though still slightly red, which I understand can happen. However, I also didn't receive much guidance on aftercare or what to avoid post-treatment, so I ended up having to look that up on my own. I've had good experiences here in the past, which is why this visit felt a bit disappointing. I hope this feedback is helpful, as I do think clearer communication during the service and better aftercare guidance would make a big difference. read more

Was in town visiting family for the holidays and really needed a haircut. I only trust my long term hair stylist for cut and color and have had some bad experiences the few times I went to someone else for a cut in desperation but this was another time of desperation lol. My hair was getting so long with so many split ends and I won't be able to see my stylist for a while. So I looked around and decided to give Nurtur a call. I booked an appointment with Jade a week in advance (tried to book for day of but she and all the other stylists weren't available). On the day of my appointment, I checked in at the front desk and the whole salon vibe felt very relaxing with the nice fragrance and music. Jade took me to her chair for a quick consult on how I wanted my cut. I asked for quite a chop - about 7 inches since my hair was almost waist length. I normally just do long layers but this time I also asked for curtain bangs to switch things up a bit and Jade agreed it would go well with my oval face shape. After we decided on the cut, she took me to the back for a shampoo and condition. Then started the cut. The whole appointment felt like a girls hang out. Jade is so sweet and she gave me exactly what I was looking for. She also gave me a cute blowout. All the stylist pricing is on Nurtur Salon's website. A cut with Jade as of the time of my review is $40. Thanks so much for my cut! I've already gotten so many compliments. If I lived in Columbus I would say I found my girl for cuts. She also does color but I already have a long term relationship with another stylist for color and I'm a bit less picky on who cuts my hair. Otherwise I'd be interested in color at this salon too. Unfortunately I will not be going back. My gal did not check to see if sides were even and did not show me back of hair before I left the chair. I don't think you pay this kind of money to get a lazy haircut. There was no effort put into this cut or style. I should have said something at the time but did not want to cause a scene. I love aveda products -- however I stopped in to get their smoothing serum. A guy at the front was upselling me suggesting I add an additional smoothing product and I went ahead and bought it -- got it home and read that it's good for all type of of hair except mine (fine). I have a rare eye disease that makes my one rye bulge forward and lid retract upwards, leaving my eyeball exposed when my eyes are closed (TED- if you know, you know). Needless to say chemicals near my eye left me beyond terrified. I came in to see Angela for a lash lift and tint on the back of having my hair burned off chemically; I hadn't felt beautiful in months. After being in Angela's expert hands and soothing presence, I left more confident than I have felt in months- and ultimately, spent less money spent on makeup as a result of her excellent work. If you had told me I would have felt beautiful going out without make-up after how ugly I've felt all year, I would have laughed. But this lash lift and tint ultimately lasted me months, and though I am not local to Columbus, I will certainly be flying from LA every time I want a lash lift and tint done by someone who understands not all faces are the same, and worked extra hard to accommodate the specialized needs required for my specific eyes (which are very very specific). I visited Nurtur for a facial. It was one of the most relaxing and refreshing facials that I've experienced; I actually fell lightly asleep! The entry of the salon is welcoming, bright and filled with a variety of products. The led me into the spa waiting room which is in a separate space that is dimmer and quieter yet very small with slightly uncomfortable chairs. My esthetician was very sweet and skilled. Overall I would rate the service very high while the overall experience isn't as much of a spa like experience. read more

I went to this salon to touch up my purple hair. I had originally had it done at Penzone, but unfortunately my stylist relocated and I thought I would give nurtur a try. The first photo is how my hair looked after Penzone did the purple. I LOVED it. I showed the photo to my stylist at Nurtur and she said no problem. Well as you can see in the second photo it came out rust colored. I was fully transparent to my stylist that I had my hair professionally colored at Penzone prior to this touch up. I have no idea why it turned red. I paid in full and left the salon in tears. I have only ever had my hair professionally colored once before and that was to go purple. I had virgin hair before I went purple. The next day I called the salon and told them I was unhappy with the result and they offered to "fix" it. Well that required them to bleach my hair again. It was completely fried as you can see in the last picture. It was during the second appointment that the stylist said "Nurtur doesn't really do fashion colors". This could have all been avoided if my stylist would have said that from the start. The end result was more of a brown with a dark purple tint. My fun purple hair was gone. I still payed in full and tipped to sit in a chair for 10 hours and not have the result I wanted. I feel so dumb. No one apologized. No one offered a refund or anything. I had 3 different stylist trying to fix my hair. I don't think I got a single name. This ruined my confidence. I felt so ugly after this. I'm writing this review to let others know if you want a vibrant color this salon is not the place. read more

I got my haircut this past sunday and this is the straight edge the hairdresser Brooke gave me (picture attached) and when i asked her to fix it she stated "oh i already went 15 mins over". i also asked her to take off a lot more than she did but apprently she was in ahurry and if didnt matter whether her paying customer was satisfied or not. I drove 45 mins to this place trusting them with one of the most important things that makes or breaks your look, but they didnt seem to care for it. Waste of time and money, not to mention another $40 know have to spend to get it fixed. read more

I love using Cole, however so I was a little bit upset when I came in around 9am and the receptionist couldn't find my appointment. I have been going to Nurtur Lane Avenue for 6 or more years. I have had several stylists during that time, some graduate and move on and I am good with that. My last stylist decided not to return after COVID19 and I fully support her in that decision. I had two appointments set up during the COVID19 period. I was contacted by Nurtur prior to both appointments and told I would be called back for rescheduling. I have waited several weeks and called today. I was told that my stylist did not return. I said that's fine, but I was told you would be calling back to reschedule my appointments, I would have been happy tp be scheduled with someone else. The female representative acted as if I should have known and I should have called back to reschedule. That is really crappy customer service after having two appointments canceled and being told twice I was on a priority call back list. read more

I'm a longtime customer. I've had eyebrow waxes, facials, manicures, hair cuts and highlights. They had a masseuse on staff for a while and I had a Swedish massage. They put your next appointment at the bottom of your receipt. If they have your email or cell phone number they will send you reminders about your next appointment. When my stylists have received promotions (which increases the price of their services) Nurtur has always told me ahead of time so I'm not hit with sticker shock. One complaint: when the mani-pedi room is full of people it can get smelly from the product. The Good Stuff: A haircut comes with a mini shoulder massage. With highlights you're offered a choice of mini-facial or hand massage. I usually see the same people for the same things. It doesn't matter if it's been 8 weeks or 3 months since I've last seen them - they are always friendly and easy to chat with. After an eyebrow waxing I never walk out with redness around my eyes. And during the waxing I never flinch. When I had a Groupon that I didn't use for nearly a year and couldn't get fitted in during the last month the management noted my account. I still got the services at a discounted price. The one time I had to wait extra long between my highlights and my hair cut they provided me with a deep conditioning service at no extra charge. I went here for the first time today to donate my hair. Mariel was absolutely wonderful. She has a great attitude, and made me feel so much better when I left than I did when I arrived. I don't like using products in my hair, and she is the first stylist that didn't grab some sort of texturizing thing and put it in my hair before drying it. Also, I appreciated she didn't put hairspray on it after. It is so nice to know that after I do my hair it will look exactly the same as when I left the salon. I honestly do not even want to give them 1 star!!! I just feel that most of the staff at Nurtur isn't best at what they do, but they still want to make money out of it like they are top level professionals. I went there for pedicure yesterday and the girl who did my nails completely ruined the experience. She just started by abruptly cutting my nails, did not even let my feet soak in water for 2 minutes even!!!!! I was like.. ok. Then she did not cut all of the nails evenly.. it seemed like some were square and some were curved. Then she started filing them and spent may be half second on each of my nail.. simply kept moving the file without even trying to shape the nails. When she started to paint my nails, she left the edges and put a whole lot of paint on the center of each nail. I did try to be polite and kept mentioning that the polish did not look even to me... to which she answered that she will cover it up in the second and top coat (I didn't know how she planned to do that). In the end, the nail paint looked uneven and edges were left out and she did not even clean the excess paint on my cuticles properly. Does it really seem fair to pay $48 for such a service?? A child could have painted my nails better. Let alone the nails for a second, she did not even let my feet relax in hot water.. and just stroked her hand 2 times with the salt rub- thats it!!!!!! I could have done a better job myself. I literally feel being robbed after this experience. When i told the manager i wasn't happy with the pedicure she kept wondering what was wrong and still did not humbly accept that the job wasn't done properly by their employee. She made me pay for the service and suggested to come in later so that they can do the nails again. I am still not positive if they will do a good job!!!! I had high hopes with this being an Aveda salon. The salon itself is not just not up to par with modern salon status. It wasn't clean, and the staff was not professional. The first red flag was that another client in the waiting area was asking the front desk what was taking so long to start her appointment. She claimed she had been waiting for 30 minutes. The front desk just stated they were behind schedule and didn't know what was taking so long. The girl who washed my hair gave an awkward shoulder massage and led me into the hair washing room. This was even more awkward given that they have you lay down on what looked like a dental chair to wash your hair. Then after conditioning in typical aveda style, they wrap your head in a warm towel, but this time she left it on so long it got really cold and was no longer relaxing. My hair stylist who was supposedly the highest level in the establishment frankly did a bad job. She didn't consult with me prior to having my hair washed, so she had no idea about my hair texture or shape. I walked into the salon with long, one layer, healthy, virgin hair - honestly, it's really difficult to screw it up. She ended up cutting choppy uneven layers in my super fine straight hair. She blow dried my hair and kept talking about movement and wearing my hair curly and stating that my hair had wave. She was so unaware of what I was telling her. She was very chatty and tried to find common ground, but I felt that she was just distracted. I would have rather her not talk at all and pay attention to cutting my hair properly. Ultimately, go somewhere else if you're going to drop this much money on a hair cut. This place is not worth it. read more

This was my first time at a Nurtur Salon. It's a little loud and the building was absolutely freezing, but I was greeted warmly and offered something to drink. I didn't have to wait long for my stylist, who was very friendly. The stylist and I discussed what I wanted, which was an all over color. She agreed with me that the color itself was nice and we would keep it, but my gray was growing in and needed covered. She worked efficiently and was very personable. She had an assistant who was very nice and made my shampoo a very relaxing experience. I'm afraid the issue is that the color was at least two shades darker than what we planned for even though we both agreed that the color I had was what I wanted to keep. I could have said something at the time, but I had other appointments to get to and really, what could be done? I didn't have hours to sit through a color correction and that's really the only recourse to fix it. I supposed I could have insisted on not paying the full price, but it's easier to just not go back. read more

I would have been ok with it but now I plan to find somewhere else to go because of the lack of communication. This salon came highly recommended and I've been looking for a stylist for forever after some not so great experiences elsewhere. I scheduled an appointment for May 1 only to receive a call that morning that the stylist was out and I'd need to reschedule. That's ok things happen. I rescheduled for May 17. They called me LESS THAN TWO HOURS before that appointment to tell me there was a scheduling issue and they wouldn't actually have time for me so I could get in with someone else (whose work I I don't know, which was the whole reason I scheduled with this person) or I could reschedule yet again. I understand things come up, but you had to know that there was a scheduling error more than two hours before, and I scheduled with this stylist specifically because my friends recommended him so highly. I will not be using this salon and encourage people to have fall back plans because I'm now screwed. Disappointed is an understatement. read more

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY DAY. I STARTED WITH A TRIP TO Nurtur Salon in upper Arlington. I had my hair cut by the stylist Lauren, she is nice, and caring, thoughtful, and fabulous. We went over the styles I like; she asked about the products I use, and I told her of my scalp dryness. She recommended a product and told me how to use it to get the most benefits. She put a rolled towel behind my back when I was getting my hair washed for my back issues. She makes me feel like a VIP. After my cut, I saw Angela, the esthetician, for a brow tint and eyelash tint and lift. I never had one before. We went over any sensitivity to eye makeup or tint. She was so kind, explained the procedure every step of the way. Ladies, if you have never had a lash tint. Wow, it makes your eyes look more open and you don't have to put on mascara. It's fabulous. Rachael did a fantastic job on my hair!! I went in for just a trim and a hydration treatment, and the results far exceeded my expectations. My hair looks and feels great! I was Rachael's last appointment of the day, but she took such great care in doing my hair. Her meticulous styling is an ART. And she's lovely to chat with too! Wasn't even going to write this review because I hate to take the time to be negative but I can't get over how poor the customer service was here after a bad experience. The woman who did my nails was sweet, but did a really bad job. I've never ever done this before but I had to speak up as I was getting my nails done for a wedding and they truly looked that bad. Another woman came in and took off all the polish and redid them. They still didn't look good, but better than before. The part that bothers me is when I went up to pay for both mine and the brides services the 'customer service specialist' pulled me over because she knew of the entire situation. She then went ahead and charged me for all services including my twice butchered manicure. I said you're seriously going to charge me after all that? And like she was doing me a huge favor, "well I can give a discounted price". I just started at her in disbelief. She finally decided not to charge me but the point is I had to basically tell her I wasn't going to pay for them wasting my time. Sorry Nurture. Just to let all future brides know....be sure to get a trial run of your makeup done here before your wedding day. I came in for my wedding hair and makeup to be done. I will say my hair was great and looked beautiful. (That's why I'm giving the 2 stars) But my makeup was horrible! It looked like I got punched in both eyes. I was in tears as I was checking out and instead of making the situation right they just let me leave (even after I said how unhappy I was). I booked a haircut and subtle ombre balayage. I ended up with regular highlights only on the top part of my hair starting at the roots and none at the bottom which is the opposite of what I asked for. I even showed her 5 or 6 pictures for reference. I wasn't offered a mirror to check my hair at the end, I had to ask. She could tell I wasn't happy and offered to "correct" it by scheduling another appointment for a shadow root, but that is not what it is going to take to turn it into an ombre balayage. She was a nice person, but I'm just really disappointed with the outcome and don't trust this stylist to pull off an ombre balayage. I also didn't receive the scalp massage that's normally included and when I got my hair shampooed the water was scorching hot then freezing cold when I got it conditioned. When she blow dried my hair the blow dryer was set so hot it was literally burning my skin. It hurt and I was wincing but she didn't seem to notice. I've never experienced this before. I scheduled with Nurtur expecting the top notch service expected at an Aveda salon but my experience was far from quality and there was nothing relaxing about any of it.
