In theater 3, seats 5 through 7 didn't work until my movie partner plugged it in. Another visit to this theater. Purchased tickets online, for a premium. Stupid to reserve seats for a weekday matinee but I had no idea how busy this movie would be. We arrive, friends orders popcorn, picks it up and its already scooped. No questions asked if she would like butter AND the popcorn is neither hot, fresh, or buttered. AMC FAIL. For what it costs for kernel corn it should always be hot and fresh. Almost $12!!! Plus side. They have small cups available so you can get yourself a water. And what's with the never ending receipts? People working at entrance are polite and try to be helpful. Leaving there was staff creating small talk with my companion. I think she thought he knew what movie we watched. I picked up that he didn't know what she was referring to and probably had yet to see the movie. Overall the theater was clean. No interruptions during movie with people walking by after the previews had wrapped up. No onscreen reminders to silence your phones or the dancing popcorn, soda, snacks reminding you the concessions are available. read more

This is the best AMC in the Phoenix area, in my opinion. My reasons: premium AMC options like Laser and the newest seats, good parking, wide selection of movies and showtimes, and solid surrounding food options. I often find myself here even if it's not the closest to my house because it has the best options. It's usually clean, with all the expected snack options, the best selection of souvenir popcorn buckets, and reliable adherence to showtimes. read more

I haven't been to this location in years, but when I used to live in the area, we were there quite often! They've made some changes, adding a bar and self-serve kiosks, but overall, it's just like I remember. The service was great, and the theater was comfortable and relaxing. The chairs all worked and were in great shape. I definitely recommend this location! read more

Everything from the food staging area, to the theater seats to the bathrooms all need to be kept up. Not sure if it's staffing or lack of commitment but its hard to enjoy an experience when things around you aren't kept clean. In addition, I know it's a movie theater and the prices are gonna be high, but coming out the pocket $20 for some stale popcorn and a drink is not gonna cut it. read more

Thank god for AMC! We are avid A-List members and I like that we have the chance to visit locations in other states (especially given that CA charges a lot more than other states) and we were pleasantly surprised by this location. We originally went to their counterpart in Biltmore which I positively will not be returning to due to the fact that there is nothing self-serve there and your refills are basically nonexistent. Here, however, you have self-serve kiosks and fast service. And boy, were they busy! The recliners are clean. I can't recall if they were heated but I don't think they were. The audio and picture was great. We saw the new Alien movie here and overall had a great experience. It's in a huge plaza with ample parking and dining. Highly recommend. (28/100--2024) read more

I gave it 2 stars because of the smell in the theatre rooms. While having a mask helped, the smell was still there. I originally thought it was isolated to my first movie, but it wasn't. A pretty nice neighborhood movie theatre and would come back. I was able to see Wicked the Musical here and everything was smooth here. You buy your ticket at the kiosk, which is $14 for a movie, a lot cheaper than I expected. It's double that in NYC (and this was years ago seeing Dunkirk at the theatres in NYC). I did get some snacks here but don't think I'll do that again. Some stale nachos and a soda cost me close to $20. I wanted some jalapeños and that was 40 cents extra and extra cheese was $2! I'll come on a full stomach next time. Theatre was a smaller theatre but wow the chair was so comfy and reclines, I was very impressed but I guess I also haven't been to the movies in years. Things have evolved lol. Bathrooms were clean and lots of movies are shown here. I'll come back again if there is another movie I want to see. And, if you have never seen Wicked (which I haven't), it is a must see, wow its a great story! I deducted one star because the cost for food was highway robbery and also not very good, but the sodas are refillable. read more

In the early days of in-cinema remodeling--before the era of MacGuffins and fancy, big, comfy chairs--the AMC Ahwatukee was my favorite, my go-to spot since moving to Arizona in 2006. It was the standard template against which I measured all other theaters. Then the Biltmore location introduced the in-dining experience. While I still referred to it as "the fancy theater" with the "flight attendant buttons," Ahwatukee remained my favorite. Later, Ahwatukee got the comfy chairs too, and I was excited to keep coming back. But much like the fall of LastPass, the AMC Ahwatukee's shine has begun to dim. I went yesterday, and there were so many failure points that AMC Ahwatukee has now become a secondary--or even tertiary--option when I'm deciding where to see a movie. My seat had duct tape on the arms to cover obvious tears. The front area, where the box office used to be, is now a huge, empty eyesore with litter on the floor and chipping paint that's hard to miss. The space has so much potential: there could be plants, a water feature, chairs and tables with umbrellas. I mean, Chandler Mall has less space but maximizes it for the guest experience. When I asked if the bar was open, one employee simply said, "Beer and wine." (Just those three words--I had no idea what that meant.) He asked another employee who was out of earshot, but I could make out his response: "I don't know." The first employee returned and said, "It's closed." I then asked a different employee, who kindly radioed someone else for assistance. All told, my "movie magic home" isn't going to be AMC Ahwatukee anymore--whether it's the AMC Esplanade or Harkins Fashion Center, I'll be looking elsewhere from now on. read more

I was here yesterday with my son and my mother and we went to see Lilo & Stitch and this theater was very busy per expected so we had done a pre order to be ready when we get there and all we need to do is go up to the stand and grab our order we had the time scheduled at 8:30PM for the pick up and the movie started at 8:30PM but with the previews we have about 15 minutes to spare so no big deal. When we got up to the stand our order was not there and so we waited for about 5-7 minutes or so and nobody greeted or acknowledged us or anything so then I had to get a workers attention and they told me to hold on which is okay I see they are busy, but then that worker never came back to help after a few minutes passing more and now getting closer for the previews to end and the movie to start.. so I then had to grab attention of another worker but this time he helped right away! So thank you so much to him and I do not know his name sadly but I thank him! So we got all our stuff now and here comes the drinks, one side of the machine has no ice and their icee machine was not working. So then we had to go too the other side and it was filled with ice from others over flowing or I'm not sure exactly what had happened but there was so much ice I had to remove a good chunk for my cup to fit to get a drink. It was just a very different experience I have encountered at a movie theater, and I have been to big movie showings and such before and it was not like this.. I felt like I kept getting hit with many blocks on this experience. However all in all spite of everything, I still managed to make the showing right in the nick of time as it was about to start so did not miss it! So plus side on that woot woot! We got the 3D showing so just as a heads up sorry if graphics look a bit odd! The theater itself inside was nice and comfy loved the seats! It was also chilly in here, we all brought a Blanket. Would have given 5 stars if pre-order was ready, the drink machines worked properly, had ice in them, also if it was cleaned and organized with no over flow of ice on the other machine.. read more

I was skeptical at first when they switched to the kiosks for the snack bar. I love it now. Makes it go so much faster. I leave for the movie ten minutes after it starts. Park in the giant parking lot, walk in, order popcorn and drinks, it's ready within 3 minutes and I sit down before the ads end. I have never had to wait at this theater. Theaters all have the big recliners so it's comfy. read more

We love coming to this location. The convenience plus all the stores and restaurants surrounding it. Always a plus!! Brenton is the nicest employee. He is friendly and greeting people as he directs them to the side of the theater movie is showing. All the employees at the snack counter can be a bit rude at times.. the ones cleaning are nice. 1st of all I've never came to a theater where they don't have no nachos or hot dogs like seriously this site has gone downhill. The menu board only said unavailable 2nd some of the staff isn't nice at all. I went to AMC yesterday for the showing of The Conjuring. (Great movie) However, the next morning I realized I had up to 9 bug bites after sitting in their theate. I immediately called to let them know and asked if I could get a refund or exchange. Instead of addressing the problem, the manager told me there was nothing they could do since it was the next day and then hung up on me. This is completely unacceptable. Not only was I left with bug bites, but the theater staff didn't seem to care about customer safety or cleanliness. A movie theater should be a place where people feel comfortable sitting for a couple hours not where they risk leaving with bites all over their body. I don't usually leave reviews, but this was bad. AMC needs to take this seriously and have the theater properly cleaned. read more

Not really sure what happen to this location. The last 2 times I've been here it's been really gross! The first time I was so confused at the state of the bathrooms. 2 of them had caution signs in front of them and it smelled of sewer. Last night, the same 2 bathrooms have the same signs, the smell isn't as bad but they had no tissue in any of the stalls. Thank goodness I had napkins in my purse and was able to give a few lady's some. The concession area is ridiculous and you pay to have reclining seats that don't recline. I can say, the staff is really friendly though. I will not be choosing this location go forward. read more

Normally they start movies 25 minutes late; they even post this on their web site! We showed up at 7 for a showing listed as 7 PM, meaning commercials until 7:25. The movie had already started! We missed the first few minutes even though we were on time. Get it together, please! I can watch commercials at home for free. read more

This is our go-to theater since we live nearby, and we haven't been disappointed. Movie outings in general cost an arm and a leg, so I appreciate clean theater and comfortable reclining seats. Crowds are respectful, and quality of sound (a bit too loud for me) and film are good. read more

Used to love this theatre. Came here at very regularly during the summer months especially. On a regular basis the recliners are broken. Doesn't look as clean as it used to. Popcorn & drink prices are reasonable for a movie theatre. But last straw was new movie times - we prefer before noon due to our schedules and apparently this is no longer an option. Seems like all AMCs not just this one but we will cancel Stubs membership as we probably won't come at all. Good thing all movies stream pretty quickly nowadays, at least we will save money. I am not an AMC person and this experience reminded me why. Me and my friend only came here as they were playing a movie that was only at AMC and at this location. We came in as we already had our tickets bought. The lady at the door was nice but a little slow. She greeted us and explained our seats and gave a theater number. However, she had said the wrong theater. Which was an inconvenience but not a major issue as we found the right one in the end. The concessions is different than I'm used to. You have to order all your stuff through a self serve kiosk and then you get a order number. The employees make the order and call out your number. This seems less personal and it sucks when you're just wanting to order a couple drinks really quick. The concessions was also dirty and looked dirty behind the counter. Once in the theater we still had complications. My friends recliner was not operating. For the sake of price and experience she had complained to the employees. At first they weren't going to do anything. But when she asked if there was any accommodations they said they would look at it. As if to avoid having to accommodate? They went into the theatre and three separate guests also told the employee their recliners were not working. None of the chairs were fixed but they moved my friend and I. The rest of the time was okay and the movie ran smoothly. However, due to service, non personal experience, and cleanliness I will stick to going to Harkins Theaters. read more

Wife and I went to watch a movie last night. First I had to use a kiosk for all my purchases. Not a big deal but I never have luck with them. Ordered tickets and two drinks, small popcorn and a candy. Waited at the "snack pickup area" watched every number around mine be called larger orders that were ordered after mine being called etc. Finally said mine is ready walked up to the counter and asked the guy where my stuff was. I said I have been waiting well over 10 mins and it's been 15 since I ordered the stuff. Told him my order number and he finished the one he was on and then STARTED on my order that was DONE already according to them. Got into the theater about 5 mins before 7. We were the first ones in. Theater was trashed. Popcorn and trash on the floors and the seats we thought we were in the wrong place. Other people started coming in and sat down we double checked our tickets and we were where we should be. Waited 15 minutes nothing was happening. No screen no sounds nothing. Wife decided to go check to see. They told my wife they are "working on it" this was 7:20 waited another 20 mins before the screen started flickering. This whole time (7:00 to 7:40) not ONE person from AMC came to let us know anything. I was getting up to go get my money back when all of a sudden we had sound and a picture that didn't match. After about 20 seconds it all caught up but the movie was in progress. Not one apology or excuse or thank you for being patient even as we left 45 mins later than expected from the theater. 1 star is 2 too many for this place. Go somewhere else! read more

25 minutes of previews and commercials is enough to get me to walk out. Nobody wants to sit there for 25 minutes before the movie starts just to watch previews. AMC is by far the worst at this. I can understand 10-15 minutes max, but 25-30 is insane. AMC needs to change this read more

Against all odds the theater is able to keep it cool inside even when it 117 outside. Whether you pick a good movie or not is all on you! Large drink and large popcorn with unlimited refills..$18. It it what it is. The staff is very friendly and I saw them cleaning the seats so they get a high grade from me. read more

I had a gift card & did not know how to work the new self-payment kiosk, so a super nice employee named Charles was a HUGE help to us!! Never have been a big fan of this location. However this is my friend's local AMC. I prefer the Tempe Mill Ave location. Anyway grab tickets in advance for newer movies. The have the red leather chairs. The bathrooms were clean. They have kiosk for ordering food/drinks. They do have booze. Plus for them is they have clorox wipes in the lobby. These are great for wiping down the chairs. Popcorn fresh and drink machines have a lot of flavors. Downside is unclear mask policy. On the screen it says must wear mask. Only 50% of people wearing mask and no enforcement. Movie theater is ran by a bunch of kids. I would not come back to this theater during Covid during the weekend. Too busy and I didn't feel comfortable. I would come maybe during the weekday for a matinee. read more

It can be hit or miss here. Out of the last 4 times I visited here, 3 of the times the reclining seats weren't working and either we had to go up to tell them and change our seats so no one else would purchase the ones we planned on moving to or you just sit there wishing you could lay back. I used to prefer AMC over Harkins Theaters, but this has seriously shifted my preference. I've been to this location before, but never really reviewed it. If I did, it would have been marginally better than how I'm reviewing it now. The last time I was at this location, several of the drink dispensing machines were out of service. This left a long line of people wanting to fill their cups on a limited number of machines. Some friends an I went to see John Wick 4. We had our tickets in advance, so that went smoothly. We placed our orders for snacks and refreshments through the ordering kiosk at the counter. That process was quick and the wait for our orders was very minimal. I went to the soda machines to the left of the concession stand and attempted to fill my large cup. Three of the machines did nothing but sputter and drip soda syrup everywhere but inside the cup. There were patrons in other lines that were experiencing the same thing. Frustrated and annoyed, I went to the left side of the concession area and successfully filled my drink there. The popcorn was fresh and tasted great! I actually do like it better than Harkins as I've found Harkins to be over-salted. The theater appeared to be clean and the reclining seats were comfortable. The picture and sound quality was typical. Sadly, I'm probably going to start avoiding this location and possibly go back to seeing movies at Harkins. I'm tired of soda machines that don't work. My other gripe about the soda machines is that they now have 2 million selections and it takes people so long to decide what they want or to concoct their own scientific blend of flavors. It's all very messy and slow. I understand why they do it, but I'm not a fan. read more

I saw The Iron Claw movie, it was SO good! The theater looked clean, our seats were clean, and no trash on the floor, which is always nice. My only complaint, not having any live human to conversate with from start to finish (right down to ordering my popcorn and drink). It's all automated. I live nearby so I come here sometimes. Usually it's a quick process and you scan your tickets and go to the seat. The food and drinks is kind of pricey at this location but still decent. I went recently and I don't know who was up front scanning the tickets but we had to talk to them multiple times because they weren't doing their job of scanning the tickets and saying where we had to go, or giving us our glasses. We had also asked a different employee for help and they didn't even try, just seemed annoyed and told us to ask someone else despite asking us if we needed help. When we went to another employee for assistance, he was very kind and helpful, so there are SOME decent workers. When we went to sit down it was dark so I didn't see much of anything, but by the end of the movie I got up and noticed there was melted gummies stuck all over one of my favorite pairs of pants. We didn't have any gummies, so it was from whoever was previously there. I didn't feel it when I sat down since they were squishy, but there was a ton on the seat. I thought they cleaned the theaters after every use but this didn't seem like the case so overall a disappointing experience. The other times I've come here, everything has gone smoothly. The seats recline and the volume is good as well. My only complaint is the cleanliness, and because I wish the prices were lower. I also want to emphasize the fact that I've never had complaints about the workers until my last visit, they could have been a new hire or having a rough day. This AMC is a bit out of the way for me, but they were one of the only theaters in the area showing a specific movie I was interested in. We decided to check out the 9:45 am showing on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. While the morning show helps you avoid crowds, I had a great experience. Easy to scan tickets from the app at the entrance, automated kiosks to order concessions from and prompt service getting said concessions. Staff were all friendly and masked. The bathrooms and theaters were clean and we had a really enjoyable experience. I would definitely come back here to catch a movie! read more

We wanted to treat ourselves to a fun movie and found this theater in an outdoor shopping mall. It was easy to purchase tickets and the space looked clean and inviting. They had several screens and times for the movie we wanted to see so we were able to choose some thing that fit with our schedule. Once inside the theater the seats were spacious and it didn't feel as if you were crowded with a lot of people in a small area. Someone we were with commented that they appreciated the commitment to making me experience almost as nice as watching on a big screen at home. However we all decided it's much more interactive and fun to go out and see the movie! The seats recline which is always amazing and we were able to thoroughly enjoy the show. If we were going to see another movie I'm sure this spot would be at the top of our list for a movie out. read more

Took my granddaughter to see Barbie the movie. First we stopped to get our popcorn and drinks. I had a 5.00 coupon for my granddaughter to get a small popcorn and Icee. They want you to order on the kiosk then pick it up at the counter which is kinda annoying. The scan thing on the kiosk is never able to take the scan codes so you have to wait to get someone's attention and then end up ordering at the counter anyway. I'm thinking the girl we had was new as she had to keep asking for help and the other girl kept seeming annoyed that she had to keep helping. Not sure if she was a manager or not but I didn't see anyone else that could of been. Finally got her coupon figured out or at least I thought. I added my order to it, the girl rang it up and stated the price. I'm glad I looked down at the register because it tiny print they had the order summary and charged me full price on my granddaughter's order. So again she had to call the other girl over to fix it. She also was annoyed that I asked for extra butter on my popcorn as I like to have it layered but instead she just pointed and said you can put extra butter on over there. Really? I'm also glad I ate a few bites as mine had a burnt taste to it so I asked for a new one. Once the new popcorn was popped they gave me the new one but it still tasted burnt. I took it anyway. Funny thing was my granddaughters popcorn was completely different which was weird because there was only the one machine. Once I got about halfway down I wasn't able to eat anymore as it was so bad. When we were leaving i asked for a refill and also asked them to give me the popcorn from the right bucket instead of the left. It was much better with no burnt taste at all, it's a shame I had to wait until the movie was over to get good tasting popcorn. I'm also wondering if some theaters are older than others because theater 12 appeared to be a little run down. The movie was good but the rest of the experience was not. I also tried to leave 3 stars but accidentally hit 4 but Yelp wouldn't let me take one off. Ugh. read more

This is a big theater, they do have a good amount of showtimes but it's pretty dirty. Obviously the prices for food are insane but they have good options for that too. My biggest complaint is that my seat smelled awful- like sweat. It was extremely uncomfortable to sit for the duration of a movie while smelling the person that sat there before me. read more
