I recently visited AMC Theater 18 in Chattanooga, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the movie was unbearably loud, to the point where it was uncomfortable to sit through the entire screening. It's surprising that a theater would neglect such a basic aspect of creating an enjoyable movie-watching environment. I even complained to an employee and they did nothing. To make matters worse, the theater itself was in a deplorable state. It was dirty, with noticeable grime and litter scattered throughout the seats and aisles. The overall condition of the theater felt old and run-down, clearly in dire need of a major renovation. The carpets looked worn, the seats were uncomfortable, and the general atmosphere was uninviting. In summary, my visit to AMC Theater 18 was highly disappointing. I hope management addresses these issues soon, as the theater has potential if given the proper attention and care. This is an older theater and really needs a cleaning and remodeling. Some of the seats are broken and damaged. Whatever you do don't take a uv light in here and look around as I did. See the photos if you dare. read more

Came to see Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse and one one of the seats that I paid a ticket for was broken. It was LITERALLY MISSING THE SEAT portion of the chair. Lol Luckily there were very few people in the theater and could mover over seats. Also the audio for the movie was like watching a regular tv at home. There was no surround sound at all. We ordered our tickets and refreshments online. We get there and proceed to the concession stand line. The young lady behind the counter was extremely rude, telling us we can "pick up over there" we waited about 10 minutes wondering what was taking so long so went up and talked to a young gentlemen who informed us it would pop up closer to show time. Oh ok noted thank you for telling us. Young lady was bossing her coworker around being extremely hostile. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting not to mention. Toilet bowls full of sh** and pi**. Got into the theater, the lights finally got turned off 10 minutes in. Staid place is down bad but at least the movie was a 10/10 read more

It's a decent theatre as movie theatres go. They could use some of the deluxe upgrades a lot of places are going to now. When I got there one of the ticket kiosks wasn't working for payments and this is the second time that happened when trying to use a gift card. The last time I was here there was a huge issue with the woman's bathroom being partially flooded, and this time multiple stalls were out of order. I'll most likely be back, but I'm seeing more and more movies at the IMAX downtown because of the better experience. read more

I have the A-list pass to see up to 3 movies per week. This is the closest theater to my house, so I come here a lot. Concession prices and such are absurd, but that's not unexpected in a movie theater. My biggest issue is the condition of the theaters. Multiple seats are broken and never fixed. The carpets are dirty. Half of the faucets in the bathroom haven't worked in over 3 months. The popcorn is some of the worst I've ever had in a theater, if it's not straight out of the popper, it isn't worth getting from here, and it's this theater, Northgate and Majestic are fine. The movies may or may not start on time. The last three I have gone to see were at least 5 minutes late starting. The one today was the first movie of the day at 9:50 am. The staff is friendly, especially the bartender, and The screen and sound are fantastic, but this theater needs some serious TLC. read more

Went to see the Met Opera summer series Rigoletto wed. @ 1 pm. Waited 15 min. to a blank screen. After talking to the manager on duty, found that the feed from New York had not been linked in to the showing room. Not the first time screw up at this place. Another time show started 20 min. lare,another the sound was horrendous. Worse is that each time, staff have to call an absent manager. If you know the met operas show on certain dates and you constantly have problems, why are you not a proactive manager, and why are you at home when you've had problems in the past. Your customers came from out of state, miles to see this and once again AMC Chatt. East Ridge failed. Superman shows many times per day, a few weeks. Rigoletto once for us. AMC continues to be a horrible experience- never a problem at Regal. Customer loyalty is certainly not rewarded here. It's bad to say, but rather than endure bad management, might be better to drive out of town. Might have a manager in Knoxville or Atlanta that cares about customers. read more

Bought my tickets only after to see a 2.5 average rating for this theater. If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars. Previous reviews are correct that it is in need of a cleaning, but it is also understaffed which could be the reason for that. Was a bit warm in the theater at first but then it started to cool down when the movie started. No employee seemed happy to be employed there and they didn't hide that fact. read more

Disappointing. We went for my son's birthday, today. AMC website was ridiculous-- even from home took 4 hours to get confirmation of tickets I bought. In this theater, employees were very polite. However, auditorium #18 was so hot! I addressed this politely but there was no change. The new Stubbs system proclaims free wifi, but it doesn't work. When I asked (had to leave the movie because it was so hot), was told to stand under it. Still would not connect, though supposed to. Also, was surprised they don't have reclining seats. Going to the movie theaters during the pandemic, to me has been a good experience. My girlfriend and I went to see "Honest Thief" here on a Saturday evening not too long ago, we bought our tickets online. AMC Chattanooga 18 have switched to reservation and on their website, it will not allow you to reserve a seat next to another party. They are enforcing social distancing. I was surprised to find out that when we got to the movies, the parking lot was semi-empty. Pre-pandemic, this movie theater on the weekends was always packed. Often times, you had to park quite a ways. But on this day, we parked close to the entrance and in the theater itself there were a total of 5 people. The concession stand was open, it looked like you could get everything served. I opted out getting anything at the concession stand. From the time we walked in to the time we left, we had a great experience. The employees were all wearing their masks and gloves and very professional. As a movie goer myself, I am glad that movie theaters have slowly reopened their doors. read more

Customer service is fantastic at the food counter. Here are my issues: 1. Only one of the self service computers ever working. 2. Never more than 2 employees at the ticket counter. 3. And the worst possible issue...2+inches of visible space between female stalls. Clearly management does NOT care about privacy of its female clients. I loved LOVED this theater when it was The Rave, great fresh popcorn, good worker (plenty of help!), clean theaters, always had the previews, and the heat/ac was always good. Now, ugh! Yes, right now, Covid has screwed them (and all of us) bad! But I'm talking PRE-COVID too! They became AMC and they cut staffing which leads to dirty theaters, overworked employees whose attitudes reflect the despair of this place! The last couple of times we've been there they didn't have fresh popcorn! There wasn't any previews! The heat/ac is nonexistent unless you complain! The damn lights weren't even on in the theater last time we went! Several people complained and we still sat in the pitch black (till they started the movie) except for the rug runners! Sheesh. This place is DIRTY. We went on a Sunday to see Dark Phoenix and it was relatively busy with a lot of kids running around. Despite guided lines to the concession (normal line and premiere membership line) it was total chaos. I have a Stubs membership and I was trying to brag to my brother about the cool perks. AMC Chattanooga made me look like a total dingus. We were in the "membership" line and got passed over by 5 groups. So much for that. Finally one of the stressed out teens shouted for us to go over to her. My brother got a bucket of day old popcorn. While we were walking away from concession I noticed how truly dirty and sticky the ground was - so much so a little girl was eating popcorn off the floor. We got to our seats and it was dirtier than the entrance, which I thought was a miraculous feat. There were popcorn, napkins and candy boxes in the floors and seats. For some reason there was a red velvet cupcake liner in my cup holder. Get it together and clean your theater. I'd rather just spend money at Regal then ever come back to this location. read more

We come here quite regularly because of the wide variety of movie selections they have and for the big screens but if it wasn't for that, we would rather go to regal cinema 8 or Cleveland's theater with recliner seats. I don't remember the last time I had a great experience at this theater. It's always always always very dirty in the theater, the trash is always overflowing, the bathrooms are a nightmare and the theaters LITERALLY stink. I also don't remember the last time the ICEE machines worked properly. It feels like management has accepted that people will come regardless of how they maintain the theaters and the poor staff is running around trying to put out fires nonstop. They can't seem to get it together. The last three or four times I've been here there have been problems. Today was my final visit. Only one self service terminal is working, but that's normal. The previews start for our movie and the lights are still on and there is music playing so that you can't watch the previews. Two complaints and they stop the previews and move to the movie. The lights are still on and the curtain isn't open. Ten minutes into the movie and the sound goes out. Two complaints and a refund later and they start the movie over again. The lights are still on. Finally the lights go down. An hour into the movie and the sound goes out again. No one from the staff came in and communicated with anyone. We left and won't be back. Get it together AMC. read more

This movie theatre has 18 movie theaters. It is the biggest movie theatre around. This is one of my favorites to come see a movie as it has bargain tickets usually before 6 pm. We came at 4pm and paid $5.75 per ticket. After 7pm, expect to pay u to $10 to see the movies. I usually park in the back as it is always not full. Everybody tends to want to park out front so it is usually full or have to park way out. I park in the back and it is about the same walking distance and you don't have to worry about somebody opening their door and putting a ding in your vehicle. It has plenty of bath rooms and several concession stands. Also, there were 5 ticket cashiers making the line go fast. It is a shopping center too. There other places to shop at including a dollar store and a fireworks super store. read more

The theater was empty for a late show of Star Wars. If it wasn't for an Annoying Couple right next to me I would have enjoyed it a hundred percent more. Complete disaster! We picked this theater in advance because of the reserved seating had better options for our group of 4. We get there and they don't use the reserved seating for opening weekends due to the chaos so we got our tickets in advanced for no apparent reason and sat away from one another (a family night). Peoples phones were flashing and going off everywhere and the lights were left on for the first 10 minutes of the movie. Not to mention the bathrooms were a complete disaster there is no excuse for it. We will wait an additional week to go anywhere but here. read more

This is the movie theater I usually go to. Probably the biggest theater in the area. They always have quite a selection of movies, even 3D ones. They have lots of comfortable seats in their theater rooms. You usually can get a decent spot to sit to watch your movie. I don't get any concession stuff like popcorn and stuff. They're usually overpriced I think. They've got the normal ticket booths and the self-kiosks too if you want to skip the line. Only giving them 4 stars bc it seems the staff aren't very present in their work. Often times there's no one to even check your ticket when you first go in. You kind of have to search for staff for help with anything. read more

I enjoy going to the movies, and am glad that things are somewhat back to normal. I went to this theater, and arrived 1/2 hour ahead of time, so that I could get the traditional popcorn and a drink. I waited behind 3 groups of people for 25 minutes. The counter help was moving at the speed of snail. There was absolutely no sense of urgency. Instead, there were a lot of conversations between each other, utilizing the time that should have been used to assist the customers (especially given the price of popcorn and drinks!). AMC's A-List includes deceitful marketing practices that have turned a Father's Day gift for my father into a financial burden for me. I have asked them to assist me at least four times, but they have repeatedly refused to respond to my inquiries, or honor my request. I am a social services worker living on a limited budget, and AMC's refusal to refund my purchase, followed by additional charges that were initially hidden from me, has turned a $20 Father's Day gift that I was excited to give to my dad, along with a $20 second membership so that my mom could join him, into $130 that I was conned out of. I don't usually make a public issue out of these things. I don't know if I ever have. But I have attempted to contact AMC repeatedly, and they have ignored my requests. I'm just at their mercy as long as they want to keep drawing on my debit card. This kind of extortion and carelessness shows me that AMC is a cold mega-business, that doesn't care about their customers' experience or helping people enjoy a good time at the movies. They don't care about the communities their theatres are part of. These practices are unethical, and they're awful for our society. I saw AMC's advertisements for a $20 per month membership to Stubs A-List, and my dad loves movies, so I thought it would be a great Father's Day gift to let him go see all the movies he could want for a month. However, they hide in their fine-print that you must commit to three months, and that you will be charged a cancellation fee of more than $20 if you try to leave early. Of course, they never make this clear in the sign-up process: they want to get your debit card on file, and then you'll be trapped to either pay them a couple extra months, or have to pay the cost of an extra month for the privilege of ending the business relationship from which they have already profited. AMC, if you read this, I would still like the opportunity to discuss and negotiate this situation. You need to practice better, more ethical business. read more

This theater just needs to be torn down and redone. We've come here 4 times in the last two months and all 4 times have had issues with the movie and either needed to relocate the theater, or get a "free movie ticket" (it's not free if I've already paid for it, and you just didn't deliver what I paid for). The first time, the sound went out, the second time, the screen got fuzzy and started to go out, the third time the screen went black halfway through, and the fourth (and final time I'll ever come here) all rooms went black. I can not express the amount of disappoint I get when visiting this movie theater. I have lived here in Chattanooga all of my life and this theater has always been one of the best, but the past years we've been continue to try to enjoy our dates to the movies we face many disrespectful and loud people. Movies are not enjoyable when you're listening to people talk, yell, and act like children the entire show. The icee machines are always out of atleast 1-2 of the flavors. And I'm sorry, I'm all for the environment, but paper straws that last less than 2 minutes in an icee is not cutting it. They do not work in icees and turn to paper mush!! You want us to pay quality, then serve quality. Until then, we will not be going back and will be buying our movies at home sadly. This movie theater is by far the worst in town, for several reasons. For starters, it is dirty and overcrowded. But the most upsetting thing is the lack of consistency with the curfew and ticket buying rules. You have to be 18 to purchase tickets and enter the movie theater AFTER FIVE if you are not with a 21 year old. So a group of 17 and 18 year olds can't see a movie together after 5! You need a 21 year old to buy tickets for anyone under 18, even for a G rated movie. The staff are rude and inconsiderate. Do not go to this movie theater. Go to north gate instead, where there is no ridiculous curfew and the staff are friendly and pleasant. read more

This place is so run down. Everytime my boyfriend and i visit we have to plan ahead AT LEAST 30 mins before the movie starts to get any snacks or drinks because the line goes so slow. We are AMC stubs holders so there is a separate line to make it go faster but it still takes forever to get anything. My personal favorite treat to get at the movies is an icee and the three times we have gone the machine is always spewing out a watery icee instead of the usual icee. The theaters are also WARM. We like to go to the movies on hot days to beat the heat but we might at well be sitting outside in the sun for how hot it gets in there. To top it off the bathrooms are disgusting. Whenever I go there are at least 3-4 stalls shut down and a line of people trying to go to the bathroom. I think it could be a really nice theater with some upgrades and upkeep but as of right now I will be trying to find other theaters to go to read more

This place gets packed on a Friday night. Just a forewarning, if you decide to go. Parking is rough, the lines are long and the lobby area is small. Once you're inside though, things get drastically better. They have those do-it-yourself soda machines that you can choose out of a billion types of drinks. I like those. Gives you so many more options for a no-sugar type drink. The theater bathrooms could be updated a bit but they were mostly clean. The theater seats are the bomb. They rock, no I mean, the rock like a rocking chair. Very cozy. All in all it was a pleasant evening at the movies. read more

So, she told us which was the correct theater and helped us out so we could easily go to the correct theater. She made the process super easy. Much appreciated. This theater is, like you may have guessed, like all other AMC's created. Overall the experience was a good one with the new showing of the My Hero Academia movie. The reason I took off 2 stars is our theater was not clean when we walked in for our movie. There was popcorn on the floor, there was a drink still in a cup holder, and the floor was sticky.
