I used to love this theater when it was Carmine and it was my go-to place to see shows. AMC bought it, took away the arcade the kids lived and put in a bar (why? Who goes to the movies to drink? Have never seen a single person patronizing the bar) At first I paid for the Stubbs premiere membership to bypass the outrageously long concession and ticket line, but then the geniuses eliminated that perk. Now the lines are way too long because they only ever open one side of concessions and no more popcorn bucket deals. So we will now go to the Regal cinema in Town Lake. This place is dirty and old and seems to care zero for its formerly loyal customers. No thanks. read more

This place is a mess. My daughter accidentally left her glasses in the theater and tried for 2 days to call and no one ever answered the phone. This use to be a great theater. It has gone downhill since AMC took over. They use to have a dedicated line just for tickets for those of us who don't want to pay $7 for a coke or popcorn. Now all the tickets and concessions are in one line. Still, it is cheap enough during specific times that I was willing to put up with it. That changed yesterday (7/3/2018). I had a $5 reward that I had activated online. When I got to the counter to get my ticket, the cashier manually overrode the system and eliminated my reward, making my ticket $5 more expensive. Now the reward is no longer showing in the system. I'll start using other theaters going forward. This was just too much. read more

First of all, this place looked closed. Nothing on the marquee except for instructions to look for the movies online. We are in the parking lot and still must use our data? We weren't even sure this was a recent sign. The place was dark and dreary looking. After we googled to determine if there was a movie to see there was no smiling face to welcome us. The ticket window was empty. No greeter. The man at the concessions counter was not friendly either. We bought our tickets and popcorn from him. The place is enormous and felt like a mausoleum. Lots of dead space. Few live people. Very creepy. We'll drive on into Woodstock from now on. Much more inviting and cleaner restrooms too. This place was really cold, odd and unsettling. read more

I paid appx $63 for tickets and appx $30 for snacks/drinks. We had the BigD Experience for War for the Planet of the Apes. The Ladies Restroom across from Theater8 was absolutely disgusting. There was paper on the floors. There was no toilet paper in the stall. There was no hand towels for drying hands. I went into the restrooms before the movie started (appx 7:15) and during the movie (appx 8:30). Each time it was filthy. After movie, I approached counter and asked for manager. Michael, the manager, spoke up. Instead of stating he would check on problem. He stated as far as he knew the restroom was just cleaned!!! Problem is that is was not cleaned before that when the crowd was bigger. As a manager, go check the restrooms for self. Don't take away from customers complaint. This had made me decide to never give this theater my business. Management needs to take ownership and follow up. A measely "sorry" after defending something you did not check doesn't satisfy me!!!! Also, after complaining, I tune around to see trash, including a cigarette butt, on the INDOOR floors...... Looking at the ratings....I'm not the only one with this complaint. read more

So yesterday me and my girlfriend came here to see Cars 3, first of all the prices were in real for the quality of the theater. I paid $47.37 for 2 tickets (one with military discount), 2 large bottles of water, and a medium popcorn. Since AMC took over I figure they would try to fix up the place right? Wrong, the floors were gross, the seats in the room we went to we're old, uncomfortable and out dated. When Carmike sold the theater, that was the worst mistake they could've made. Tonight my husband and I went to the movies at AMC in Canton, GA. Nights out are rare when you have an infant and toddler at home. I stepped outside of the theatre at 8:30pm to call and check on my little ones. At 8:40pm the doors entering the theatre were locked, after knocking and repeatedly and being ignored by the staff, an employee finally opened the door and stated I could not come back in even with a ticket for the movie that was playing. There is one sign on each door stating that you may not leave the theatre with alcohol, there is absolutely NO indication that you cannot re-enter the theatre if you step out. This ruined our night, movie and experience. If implementing rules such as zero re-entry, this needs to be clearly stated for all customers to see. There was also a 13 year old female child locked out of the theatre at the same time, alone, with her ticket, no phone and no way to contact her parents to pick her up. AMC get it together and better serve your customers paying absurd amounts of money to watch movies in your theaters. read more

First and foremost I love this theater. I've been going to this one ever since I can remember. I've only had problems specifically with the screen quality in the Big D. I have noticed an extreme difference in image quality between movies in the Big D versus normal screens. Movies are just off. Scenes are too dark and it's extremely hard to pick up on details. My friend compared it to watching a non-HD movie on an HD television. The large screen doesn't allow for the picture quality that these movie producers intend them to look like. 3D movies seem to look amazing but the large screen takes away from the overall quality. It honestly sucks watching movies in there in my opinion. read more

Once AMC took over I was really expecting some improvements. Carmike had already updated the concession area, restrooms and hallways. They of course left the most important thing, the theaters themselves alone. There are broken seats, wall coverings coming off the walls, and most important the picture quality is poor. The Big D, which should be the show piece of the theater has always had a lousy picture. It always looks slightly out of focus. They spent all this money to add a bar and improve the lobby, but neglect the thing that matters the most; the movie experience itself. AMC has been in charge since April 2017 and nothing has changed. They haven't even put AMC on the front of the building. read more

I am going to call the health department on this place!!! Filthy! Every counter, floors, restrooms and theater ALL filthy! We decided to have a family night and go to Jumanji which meant no cooking for me-hot dogs -popcorn -pizza -pretzels and frozen cokes. Well so much for that idea. None of the above available except popcorn and 1 soda machine working. Could you not say when a customer orders a frozen coke "the machine is not working?" There was like 2 people working and they clearly did NOT CARE. I went to Panda Express and when I returned, I was approached that I could not bring in outside food. I blew past him and stated we came for dinner & a movie which you don't have. They need to shut this one down and or hire new management. This is the only theater my wife and I will watch a movie at. For everyone complaining about ticket prices, I challenge you to check out other theaters and find one who offers cheaper prices. Their bargain matinee showing are the best deal they offer. between 4 and 5:30 pm $5.50/person is a price that cant be matched to go to the movies. They have clean facilities and excellent customer service. I do believe their BID D ticket prices are slightly high, but I chose not to watch movies in the BIG D. All in all, it is a great place to enjoy a movie. read more

This was a highly disappointing theater! We pre-purchased tickets, waited in a ridiculously long line for concessions, and then went into our theater only to find that there were no seats left. There is no way to pre-select seats. No one checked tickets at the front of the theatre or at the entry to our particular show. The other half of our group was coming to a later show, and they had the exact same situation. To say they were understaffed is an understatement. For the price of the movie and concessions, this was an unacceptable experience! AMC needs to send reinforcements! read more

The theater seating is comfortable and there is ample parking, but that is the end of anything positive I can say. The concession items are wildly overpriced and they recently perminantly closed their ticket booths, choosing to sell tickets at the concession stand - of which only one side ever seems to be open. This means that, even if you just want to see the movie, you get to stand in line behind lots of other folks as they pick out their drinks and Milk Duds. My last visit people were waiting in line 15 to 20 minutes just to get seated. Whoever thought up this gem didn't spend much time actually thinking about all the consequences. As long as they are doing this I'll be going somewhere else for any movie I really want to see. read more

I arrived on location at 12:15pm to see if they were playing Breaking Dawn Part one as the times and location has not been set for the area yet. The gentleman in the box office saw me coming and walked away from the booth but I was able to walk right into to building. I stood in the front looking for help as there were 3 gentlemen including the one who was in the ticket booth at the counter. All three saw me but ignored me for 3 minutes till I walked physically to them and asked for help. The gentleman who had walked away from the booth finally acknowledged my presence and told me that the gentleman behind the counter could tell me the times for the movie and walked away. I went up to the counter to be ignored again by the one behind the counter. The first gentleman came back up and told me they would not be open for another 15 minutes. I was so asseverated by the whole ordeal I walked away complaining about my experience on the way out. A blonde woman somewhat attempted to see why I was leaving but I was not interested in being treated to anymore rudeness. I came to the facility to attempt to purchase 10-25 tickets for a group of teachers who have managed to view each twilight movie together as a group. My current treatment from the individual at this establishment have made me rethink purchasing tickets for this show or any for that matter in the future. read more

It has been a few years since this was a Carmike and I thought I should update it now that AMC has had an opportunity to make their mark on it. I am somewhat disappointed in what AMC has done. They did a wonderful job bringing their greater resources to bear and installing new toilets and other facilities. However, I find the shift from Carmike to AMC has resulted in a shift from a movie going experience to a generic experience. As an example, AMC does not use masking. For those of you that don't know, the masking is the black cloth that frames the picture. It makes things look crisp and immersive. Digital projectors are sharper than 35 mm, so AMC's policy is that their digital theaters not use masking anymore. But just because the picture is sharper does not mean that it is not noticeable. So when I went to see Ant-Man and the Wasp, I had a lovely view of the electrical panels and all the lights that were on behind the screen. This ruins the immersive experience that goes into making movies a unique form of entertainment. If I don't get the benefit of a movie going experience by going to a theater, then why don't I wait until I can watch it on Netflix? When I brought this to AMC's attention, they were unconcerned. And they have the audacity to wonder why this is a dying industry. read more

Went to Carmike to see Star Wars with my son. It was our second time seeing the movie which is great. The theater did not want to honor a popcorn coupon they gave me the previous week. The manager would not oblige either. Then the movie broke down TWICE with 15 minute delays each time. There was no acknowledgement or apology from anyone in the staff. Took my sister here for her 10th bday, she lives up in canton otherwise i would have gone to the theater next to my house. The tickets are way over priced, and the popcorn and drinks are crazy expensive- its a good thing i brought my own. The specific theater was hard to find because the numbers are only on the door, you have to walk past each theater to see if it's the one you are going to. And the title time was wrong so we still weren't sure if it was the right theater. Walking into the theater i noticed the overwhelming smell of old socks, yuck. We got there 30 mins early because the movie had just come out. Only to find out that the movie didn't start till after 25 minutes of previews. We waited 55 minutes in that nasty theater. People came in during the middle of the movie for the next showing. I have never been to such an unorganized, unsanitary, movie theater. read more

Awful experience at the Carmike Cinema in Canton. Went to see "In The Heart Of The Sea" in 3D. The movie started and it was totally blurry even with the 3D glasses. Two people went out to complain and nothing was done. I went out to complain and was told there was nothing wrong. After an hour of being passed off from one person to the next we finally got a refund on the movie and the concessions. Of course after an hour we were told that the movie was fixed and we could watch it now. The movie was only 2 hours long. Total incompetence and absolutely no customer service skills. read more

We went on 3-30-2016 and found the cinema to be very clean, restrooms included. We were very comfortable! We went to see Beauty and the Beast and really enjoyed ourselves. The cinema was not crowded, so maybe that's why it was so clean. The employees we encountered were very nice. We will be going back soon. read more

Theater is always nice and has done well at adapting (mobile tickets are allowed to walk right in straight to the movie). ALTHOUGH the fact that when AMC took control of the theater from Carmike, I have never had to stand in a line for concession or tickets as long as I do when I visit this theater, and only this theater. For some reason out of the 4 concession stands that carmike had, they only utilize one, I guess to make more people pay for their premium line? Which isn't any better than the regular line. This alone is reason enough to use one of the other theaters in fairly close distance. read more

Can you layer the butter on my popcorn? No. Can you give me some extra salt? No. Then can you put some extra salt on it? No. Time to find a new theater to frequent.
