2D IMAX EXPERIENCE REVIEW: This weekend, I dragged my husband to AMC Clifton Commons to see The Odyssey in 2D IMAX. He had little (to no) interest to see the movie, but with me being a Christopher Nolan fan, I'm sure he knew deep down that this would be an inevitability. I was late to the game with getting tickets at AMC Lincoln Center for 70mm IMAX, so next best thing? Clifton Commons :) Admittedly, it's been a while since I've stepped inside Clifton Commons, so this review is kind of an update - except this was my first time seeing 2D IMAX there... Overall, really great movie watching experience! Recommended! 2D IMAX is in Auditorium 9, which will be to your right after you show your QR code to the ticket collector. Pros: comfortable seats, clean theater, rows are clearly marked on the steps so easy to find your seats in the dark, the projection resolution is gorgeous, resounding audio. Cons: None. read more

My first visit was tonight. I give the theater 5 stars for playing Train to Busan -- when the other theater dropped it suddenly. Then why the 3 stars? There may be newer viewing rooms but mine was antiquated and the seats were the old kind -- rickety and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were in disarray and old too. While I'm happy to see my childhood movie theater still in business, this theater is so pricey for what you get. It's a shell of the theater it once was but it gets the job done. The chairs aren't the nice leather recliners you'll find at other theaters but they're fine. The concession line was also pretty long. My husband had a free popcorn for his birthday, and the attendant and cashier must have noticed which code was used. She said, "Happy birthday, I guess." We had a little chuckle over it, but jokes aside, the cost of tickets and food at this theater is getting unreasonable. It honestly makes me sad that going to the movies as a family could easily cost over $100 between tickets and concessions. And the $6 per ticket surcharge for purchasing tickets online ahead of time is criminal. read more

Honestly if it was t for the fact I have a love affair with the Toy Story franchise I wouldn't be paying $80 for three tickets to this theater. I was quite excited to qualify now for a senior ticket and save $2. But I really don't know why people go to the movies anymore unless they are dying to see a particular movie in the theater. We have done standard tickets for $14 in Wayne. We came here and Dolby is $24 a ticket. It's crazy. To be honest do you really need amazing surround sound for that movie? It's honestly not worth it. Go to an AMC with standard ticket prices. See the movie. You won't miss the premium sound. Unless it's a concert movie or an epic like Star Wars, you're good. Skip this place. read more

Decided to go to the movies randomly. This location has the most options for showtimes of the same movie, which was great. I was able to buy my ticket and pick my seat online. Once I arrived there was a large parking lot with ample parking. I was able to have the theatre attendant scan the QR code on my phone and walk in with no issue. There is a small arcade. The popcorn and water are expensive, as usual. The concession stand was dirty and greasy with butter. The theatre was clean. The seats were comfortable. The Beyoncé movie could be heard as we watched The Color Purple. Overall a good experience read more

My husband and I took our daughters to see Moana 2 at the 9:15 Saturday showing. The sound was way too loud and My youngest daughter couldn't sit through the movie. When I took her for walks and to the arcade, One employee kept following me around, sharing inappropriate conversations. Red flags started when this employee kept asking me how old my daughter was, and sharing that they were not allowed to hold their niece. I felt so uncomfortable I decided to leave the property with my baby while my husband and other daughter finished the movie. I didnt feel safe with the awkward employee nor did I feel that the manager or other employees cared. They saw this employee following me around and did nothing to intervene. I will not be visiting this theatre ever again! read more

As far as the Dolby theater is concerned, I only have rave reviews. We went to see the Elvis Presley movie and it was very good. The moment that we entered, we had our the phone tickets scanned and presented with a very nice poster of the movie. We ordered a few items at the food counter and everything went smoothly, served by a friendly staff. The seats in this theater are very comfortable and the stadium seating made it very easy to view the screen. The sound in this theater is amazing. During intense scenes, you'll notice that your seat will vibrate. I enjoyed it and they time it perfectly so it's not overwhelming. You will definitely enjoy this theater and their sights/sounds will make it memorable. read more

Oooooph. A bit of a miss for AMC. This location is definitely on the older side. Parking is plenty but I think that's for a reason. The theater itself just had a bad odor everywhere. It was so off putting throughout the whole movie, definitely not an a favorable experience. The seats are pretty uncomfortable, no one followed the seating arrangements and one of our chairs was completely broken. I think this place is a last resort if you really really wanna catch a film but honestly - try a different theater or rent it when it's available online because it's just not worth it here. They're also incredibly pricey for what it is. There's much better theaters just a few miles away with prices that are more appealing. I enjoyed my film. It was great but the food and seating was crummy. I ordered their "gourmet" popcorn which tasted stale. Might as well gotten their regular butter popcorn for the price. Also, I could NOT sit comfortably for the entire duration of the film. I felt uncomfortable, my bottom and back hurt. Luckily it was only my husband and I on our row, but man, it was so rough. The staff were nice and the bathroom and auditoriums were at least clean. I doubt I would come again unless another select theater isn't showing our film of choice. read more

After two years, this was my first time back visiting this AMC in Clifton since covid started and it was pretty empty to see Spider-Man:No Way Home. I attribute that to the time I went (during school hours). It was a decent sized theatre and held a good amount of movies. Staff is nice and they even have ticket booths rather than just the machines to buy tickets. The establishment had place markings and hand sanitizers throughout the premises. This is our local movie theater. We like the ability to buy reserved seats on line. However yesterday we saw the Napoleon movie and were unable to enjoy it. The adjacent theater was showing the Beyoncé movie with full volume Dolby cranking out bass vibrations that shook our theater through out the Napoleon movie. It ruined the entire experience. Management must surely know this and should warn patrons of this acoustic defect in their theater's design. This is not the first time I've experienced this at AMC Clifton Commons. It's AMC. They have reserved seating. They have DOLBY. They have IMAX. They have RealD 3D. Discount Tuesdays. Recliners only in select auditoriums. It helps somewhat if you have AMC Stubs Premier membership. Get $5 back for every $50 spent, free popcorn and fountain drink size upgrades, waived service fees when purchasing tix online, priority lanes at the box office and concessions stands. I like this particular AMC for the respectful movie goers. I haven't experienced movie talkers, cell phones, yelling at screen or feet on the chair next to you. I go to the movies for big screen action packed movies with the IMAX or Dolby experience. Unfortunately, the IMAX and DOLBY experience has not always been the best at this AMC. -I sat in auditorium #9 opening week of Aquaman and throughout the entire movie there was a reflection on the bottom right hand of the screen everytime the door opened. You can actually see the shadow of the door opening and closing along with the shadow of people walking in. -I sat in auditorium #8 opening week of Captain Marvel and there was no sound available for most of the previews. Both times i went to customer service so they can correct the issues and barely recieved a seemingly frequent apology. Hoping for just human error and will probably return for Avengers Endgame with fingers crossed for an ultimate experience. read more

I'm guessing overpriced theaters are a plague that we will have to deal with across the board, but if that is so, should they be so dirty, dank, and stinky? I hope not. I will say that AMC's newer reclining seats and ability to order online is good. We made the mistake of ordering in person. Only two kids were available at the concession stand while the line was long and building. Those kids gave zero f*&^%s about their jobs. Look unkempt themselves as did the ushers. Someone would likely say: "They are underpaid, why would they care!?" And I'd reply...that's a bullshit statement. I worked at a movie theater when I was 14 until I was 16. I worked for minimum wage and believe you me...all of us at the General Cinema in Miracle Center took pride in our theater. We were kings in our high school working there. It was the hangout in Miami for all of us in the early to late 90's. It is the very definition of the nostalgic Mayfair cinema. We worked hard, and we always kept that place clean, presentable, smelling citrus fresh, and ready. You would never smell urine walking by the restrooms. You'd never find a single piece of popcorn on the floor. I get that the hot topic today is paying people more...sure. that's all good and great. But those who have the job should take some pride in their work and elevate the place. The fact is they don't. I don't know if it's younger generations not caring or the management of these theaters not caring. But it's just dingy. For the money I'm spending...I think I...we...can demand better. I paid a little over $90 for me and the wife. Two tickets, a large popcorn, 2 medium drinks, a hotdog, and 1 box of milk duds. The sound and screen were good, but I think the soundscape was not balanced. Or the building was not setup for such powerful vibrations. Issues like this are what cause people to be far more selective of the films they go see. We used to see 1-2 movies a week. Now that would be highly expensive and irresponsible given the cost. I'd advise this place to train their people to be enthusiastic and thorough. To be clean, to be present, and to make sure the experience of the theater is meaningful. Otherwise, why go at all? I have a theater room in my home with a QLED screen that is huge. I don't have a need to see movies when they come out. I can wait. More and more people are able to do the same. There is also an issue of the quality of the films being made. Very few anymore are really worthy of going to the theater anymore. AMC and it's competitors need to understand this and adjust accordingly. read more

There was a line out the door so luckily we ordered our tickets online in the parking lot :) . I thought this theater said assigned seating but the movie we watched did NOT have assigned seating. We got there early for a good seat together. I can tell by the line leaders that the popcorn line can get LONGGGGGGG.... People "snuck" into our R rated movie with a small child (probably about 5) which would NOT stop talking. Luckily the inconsiderate parents left after about 30 minutes. Definitely not my favorite movie experience. So AMC... Open another venue.... upgrade the seating and have staff stop in the theaters to escort young children from movies which show decapitated heads. This is the closest AMC to me, and I have their A-list membership, so I come here pretty often. Recliners are standard in the majority of the theaters now, but this one only has it in some. Concessions are as pricey as anywhere else. However, this place is filthy. The bathrooms always smell like piss. The theaters usually smell funny. There's always trash or popcorn lying around. Came on a Friday afternoon because we were in the area and the movie we wanted to watch was playing soon. The cashier was great. We didn't order any food, well because movie theatre food is overly priced everywhere and we already ate. Theatre was clean but seating wasn't the best. This place is a dump. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the Kerasoates? The seats are small, not cushiony and they don't recline. We arrived early in the morning for a movie and the place was already a mess. The popcorn was old and stale. We love popcorn and we barely touched it. You really couldn't make new popcorn since you just opened? You're serving days old concessions on a Saturday? People walked into the theater with supermarket bags filled with chips and snacks. Like.. you're not even trying to hide your contraband cause that's how much this theatre doesn't care. The row behind me's feet in my face and seats that are ground level so every time someone gets up to pee or grab a stale snack, they're blocking your view completely. The Kerasoates puts their aisle between the ground floor and raised seats to avoid this very issue. If I hadn't paid $6.50 total for two tickets thanks to atom and PayPal, I'd of been upset. I'm shocked by all the 1 star reviews.... oh well, to each their own. This is the theatre I grew up with and I feel like I've never had issues with it, in fact, I feel like it's gotten better over the years due to all the upgrades (IMAX, reserve seating, soda machines, etc.) Like I said, I grew up here...this was THE spot to hangout as a high schooler and then we'd do half off appetizers after 10 pm at Applebees. It's got plenty of parking in their giant lot. Sure, it can get packed but that's what happens when it's a popular theatre. I never had a sanitary issue here... never noticed anything out of place. I say, it's a fine place to come to see a movie. They still offer the Standard viewings where you cannot reserve a seat so you should come early for those showings. Otherwise, the IMAX and Adobe ones are all reserve seating. I've been buying tickets online and getting scanned in for the last few years and that has not been an issue. Now, I would've given it 4 stars but they lost a star from me today because of the soliciting!!! They allowed a lady IN the theatre to table for some "raffles and prizes!" The AMC affords one to see world renown performances such as the Metropolitan Opera, Ballet, Theatre and Rock Concerts at unheard of prices ranging from $15.00 to $25.00. The Advantages: -Seeing backstage interviews with the stars. -Observing the real live production sets change from scene to scene. It's totally incredible to watch. You don't get these exciting advantages at an actual program unless you're in the know. On March 13, I went to to the AMC Clifton Commons to see the Bolshoi ballet perform Spartacus in HD. The performance time was 12:55 PM. I arrived early at approximately 11:30 AM for good parking and a good seat. During weekend Opera and ballet performances, the theater is usually packed. The ticket is "priced right" for a world-class performance at $19.26. I went into the theater. I decided to get a snack. I placed my sweat jacket on the seat to hold my place. I came back about five minutes later to find my sweat jacket was gone. There were several people cleaning the theater. I asked them what happened to my sweat jacket that was on the chair. To make a long story short, I was given back my jacket. Definitely won't leave anything on my seat again. LOL... The theater was cleaned with the exception of the steps which needed a good vacuuming. Before the start of the program, an employee came in and handed everyone a program synopsis. A very nice touch! I totally loved the performance of the Bolshoi Ballet performing Spartacus. The visual and audio quality was excellent. No ear plugs needed :). read more

I've been here a dozen times at least, because my daughter likes the stadium seating and IMAX. There are multiple pros and cons to this place. Since they have a lot of theaters and there are multiple restaurants and stores around there you need to allow for 10-15 minutes to try to find a parking spot. Also be prepared that a blinker alone may not be enough if waiting. People will cut you off for the spot even if you were waiting. There is no bargains on tickets here but they do have a points card. The concessions people although nice are excruciatingly slow so allow time for that. The best part is the stadium style seating so that is the main reason to go here. The seats are very comfortable. Also be prepared, it is loud. I don't mind but if you were to bring anyone with ear sensitivity its something to consider. So if you don't mind a crowd,rough parking, and slow concession stands you will like it. Like I said the seats are pretty good. I'll stick with a smaller intimate theater. Unless my daughter wants to go here, then I will deal with it. read more
