Nice AMC here. You walk in through the doors to purchase tickets. The ticket place out in front is no longer being used, I guess. I was kind of bummed that they didn't clean the theater before our showing last night. We had to walk through an aisle of popcorn on the floor which kind of sucked. Went to watch Furious 7 in IMAX and noticed that the screen isn't as clear and bright as others I've been to. It was not THAT noticeable though. I love the plaza the AMC is in. There are a bunch of restaurants and fast food joints you can choose from. I just wished a few were open during the late showings. Definitely will be back! read more

About 10 years ago, this theater was the best one in the area. Now, there is hardly anybody there when I go, which is fine by me cause I hate crowds. Service here is decent. The bad: Loud low frequency hum on the sub-woofer in front of the screen. (120 Hz Ground loop?) "Movie" started a half hour late late. The good: Nice seats. (Although too easy to hit the recliner buttons.) I haven't been to a movie in 30 years. Decided to see Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest on a big screen. (Part of Turner Classic Movies promotion.) Now, frankly, you can buy this movie on Blu-Ray - and it's clear from what we saw at the theater that that's what they were playing for us. So, to start, the showtime was supposed to be 2:00 p.m. The movie didn't start until 2:30. When it finally started, we saw a Blu-Ray type menu and the operator Fast-Fowarded though the promotional garbage to get us to the TMC Introduction. I coulda done that at home and been on time. Once the movie started, everything was okay - except for that incessant hum coming from the sub-woofer. There were some motion artifacts from the digital conversion. Not terrible. I suppose it was unrealistic of me to expect to be watching old-fashioned film. (Hey, it's an old-fashioned movie ...) The theater was clean and the reclining seats were very nice. (Although I could have used a head rest.) This theater is set up so that no ones head will be in your way. Nice. The buttons to operate the power recliner mechanism were too easy to hit by accident. Nothing that can be done now. But I would have installed buttons that you have to pull, rather than push. If the movie had been on time and if there wasn't hum on the audio, I would give this theater 5 stars. But when I pay to watch a movie, I expect the professionals to be on time and I expect the professionals to set up a professional production. It is amazing that they spend all this money to create a better theatre. Then the prices get raised, the customer service is non existent (kiosks everywhere, but not people). Now they do not run the air conditioning, the screen in theatre 16 has an obvious blemish which causes white marks during movie playing. The smell in the theatre is of body odor due to lack of air circulation. The restrooms are clean. read more

Very disappointed!! AMC sells it's gift card all over everywhere. We were blessed with some, and wanted to use them. I went to the site to pre-order since it was opening day, to avoid having to wait at the door. AMC webiste does NOT honor it's own gift cards online. One must have Fandango gift cards to use the online pre-order service.Otherwise they must be charged to a credit card/ This is beyond inconvenient and stupid. I gave 2 stars because I love AMC reclining seats. Usually go to Desertridge and always have a great experience. This location, however, is filthy! The carpets were stained and popcorn all over early on a Saturday- before the crowds. The womens restroom did not have one clean stall and was completely out of toliet paper! One of the worst movie experiences I've had. Line for popcorn took 20 minutes, theater was dirty (seat had volumes of old popcorn down the sides) temperature uncomfortably warm, no tp in restroom stalls, and much to my chagrin the expensive popcorn was chewy, full of kernels, and pretty much inedible. And most of all, the movie at 10:55 was 20 min of pre showing of other movies coming out, so frustrating and very if wasn't with my Mom I might of walked out waiting for the movie to finally start! We headed over to my old movie home AMC 30, where I've been going to since my teens but I haven't been in quite awhile. I took my daughter to see the Jungle Book. We went out for a quick dinner prior to the movie, with tip that meal was about $20. Now, you may be asking me...Ali....why are you telling us about your dinner when we're on the AMC yelp profile? Well let me tell you friends why that is relevant.....we bought our tickets, no big deal, I was around $12 for us, we went around 5ish and my daughter is only 5...so kid pricing. Yay! We stopped at the snack bar. We had, you know just eaten but she really really wanted popcorn and a slushie.... 1 Small popcorn (which was not at all small), 1 medium Slushie (small doesn't exist and it was a pretty big one) and 1 medium soda (also, I would have said large on this one too) $17 and change. Seriously? Are you SERIOUS? My dinner at a sit down restaurant was LESS than the snack bar for 2 drinks and popcorn? I spent more at the snack bar than for the ACTUAL TICKETS? Insane. While AMC 30 has nostalgia for me, and we may be back, we for sure, will NEVER, No, Not Ever, Not Even IF I AM STARVING, plan to visit the snack bar again. Remember when Harkins started doing the shakers of popcorn flavors and they're just chilling for you to use whenever? Well AMC like that idea, but, heres the catch .45 cents for a small container. Way over priced, Do not ever go and get snacks there, if you're a snack and movie person, go some place else, this place is so catastrophically over priced on their food and drinks its insane. What doesn't make sense is on a holiday weekend and with a potential box office smash showing do they not have the windows open on the outside to purchase tickets. We wanted to make the 8pm show and get a great seat (not too close to the screen) so we came 45 min early but because of the above mentioned concern our expectations were not met. Today my boyfriend and Myself went to a movie, bought a drink and popcorn and sat down to enjoy 2guns. Right as the movie started we had a family emergency and needed to leave immediately. I expected them to refund the tickets since the movie hadn't even started and I was kind of bummed thinking I just wasted 13 bucks on food and to my surprise the clerk that helped me offered to refund the entire purchase. I was extremely pleased and really appreciated the fact that they didn't ask questions and took care of me no questions asked!!! best customer service I have ever received and will definitely return!! read more

Well today my girlfriend, our kids and myself were asked to leave movie after having watched 1/2 of it. Someone complained that her son was being disruptive, he's 2 btw. He was getting restless, and so being very respectful individuals, I asked her to step with him for a moment to calm him down. She reentered the theatre about 30 minutes later, with him and he was calm. About another 15 minutes pass and in walks an employee, that signals to us that she wanted to speak to us outside. We were then told they got several complaints about her son, and that we'd have to leave. I explained to her that my girlfriend and her son had been out of the theater for nearly the last 30 minutes or so. She said nothing she could do, it upset me because my 3 kids were still inside watching the movie. I explained to her that we paid our money just like everyone else. She then responds with "Well we can refund you your money for the tickets and give you passes to come and watch it again at a later time. At this point I became even more upset, and the employee decided to call her general manager, who btw looks about 20 years younger than she did. He tells me that we can not go back into the theater and that all he can do is refund our money. The best part about it is, I pay annually for the stubs reward card, I frequent the movies. We visit the movies maybe 6-8 times a month, which means we spend very good money there. I told the so-called general manager whom was dressed in a t-shirt and not formally dressed as a manager of AMC should be, that we will be gladly taking our business elsewhere such as Harkins theaters, he told me "Have a good day sir". I will literally never again step foot into another AMC again after being disrepected as we had been today. read more

I've been going to Amc deer valley 30 since it opened 18 years ago. They closed 13 of the theater's a few years ago. Well now they have renovated. The theaters in the lobby at least now have reclining seats and more foot space. Problem is they've lost half the seats. I can imagine when a big new film comes out they will be sold out mostly. They closed one bathroom and added a bar. Closed the ticket booths out front and they are all inside now which takes away from the ambiance. Lastly all the pictures of classic stars near the lobby ceiling have been replaced with recent stars. I'm not sure how long those stars will last. So nice seats, but overall i don't care for the changes. Beverages still too expensive to bother with. Oh and i asked an employee how many theaters there are now and he didn't know. We stood in line Friday morning while your employee explained to people this new program you are pushing. Well when my friend and I got to him he didn't even offer it to us, which we were thankful for but then offered it to the ladies behind us. WHY? I don't know. So after we get our tickets (finally) we go to the counter to get popcorn and soda, well there was 1 person behind the counter and she proceeded to inform us that we used the "gold" line and we asked if we used the other line, who would wait on us? So, she finally took our order after we said we understood, which we really didn't understand why we were being told this but I guess she had to do it but common sense would tell her that she needed to phrase it differently. It took too long, in my mind, to get our tickets, popcorn and soda. Both my friend and I were extremely frustrated at this point and we will think before we come back to this theater. I just don't like having to stand in line while someone is pushing something at us to buy when all we want to do is watch a movie and relax. read more

Terrible experience for the Dark Knight Rises midnight release. As many of you will hear soon they had a fiasco tonight and started the WRONG movie at midnight! Instead they started the Dark Knight from the Batman marathon (The second movie) and it took them 15 minutes to realize it happened. Finally someone came in the auditorium to inform us that they load up the wrong movie (digital projection?) and it will be about a half hour to fix. That time passes and an hour later no word from management. Finally we went out to the lobby again to get a straight answer and they now said it will take even longer because ALL of the auditoriums started the wrong movie and it will take even longer and maybe it will start by 2:30 am. Since no one seemed to want to give this important update to people still waiting in the auditorium an actual customer took it upon themselves to give everyone the straight facts about it taking even longer to fix. At that point hundreds of people filled the lobby to get refunds. I have not been to this theater in years due to another technical problem they had plus the unprofessional way they resolved it, so I stopped going there. A friend of mine said to give them one more chance because he had a good experience there.Never again! After this experience I will NEVER go to an AMC Theater. It is one thing to have technical issues but seeing how disorganized they were in handling the issue tonight I really cannot see any reason to ever go back. You received a rare second chance tonight AMC and you blew it. For a long time my family and I drove out of our way to the Harkins Norterra Theater which always has a consistently good presentation, sound, and great staff. Tonight we gave you one last chance because you are closer to our home. I will never make that mistake again. read more

Ya my husband and I really loved amc over Harkins but this new assigned seating is crap. I'm one of those people who likes to get to a movie at LEAST a half an hour early!! I was sitting with my husband and daughter when this rude lady that shows up as the movie was starting through a huge fit because she bought her seats online!! Had to had to tell the people that were sitting in our seats that they had to move so we basically had to move around the entire theater to reward this lady that had to have her assigned seat because she was late!! This system is so dumb and it rewards the people that show up when the movie starts don't think I will be returning to AMC anymore!! What a shame!! Worst movie experience in years. You can't buy a ticket from a person. The ensuing chaos meant waiting 10 minutes for 3 people ahead of us to figure out what was going on. The line for an employee ends at another computer terminal. Finally through the second line to have the ticket ripped. Popcorn. Yes please. Stand in queue. There are about 7 registers. Only 3 are manned; and the employees move like molasses. 15 minutes later we've moved literally 5 feet. I counted. So with a prediction of 45 minute wait to get popcorn we had to decide; be late to the movie or get snacks. I understand the world is moving to automation; but do it right. Clearly, the multiple customer grumblings in line indicate Harkins will be the next movie experience for those that tried to use AMC today. Horrible. read more

I used to give this theater of 5. And we still enjoy the IMAX, 3d, and sound system at this location. I've dropped this review down to a 3 because of of the stubs card program. There's now the premiere which allows people to basically cut in front of others because they pay a little more for their premier card. The self-serve soda machines are consistently sticky. Since they've gone to these self serve machines the soda tastes horrible. We're not a fan of the reserve seats either. The glass partition in front of the seats can also interfere with the screen. read more

I haven't been here since the new reclining sets where installed, I like it! Being able to pick my seat was nice, the seats are so comfy and I like the fact that the middle arm rest go's down. The only thing wrong with the night... I'm a huge popcorn fan and the popcorn sucked!! They also didn't have iced tea and I don't drink soda. read more

horrible parking lot, long lines, standard big-box movie theater experience. only good thing is lots of showtimes. by the way, the imax is a complete rip-off. it's not even a real imax theater. they just took their biggest theater, put in an IMAX projector and charge you $4 extra for the "experience"... dickinson theaters has a real imax in mesa and there's the AZ mills imax, but they dont get the first-runs because Harkins uses their muscle with distributors to keep them from getting stuff until it's in 2nd run theaters. but yeah, this imax is a complete ripoff. avoid. read more

AMC 30 used to be a great movie theater...when it was brand new. The location is okay, but my husband's truck has been broken into three times in the parking lot while we were at the movies. Now I feel like I need to take mace with me when I walk to the theater at night. I am also sad that they raised the $5 morning ticket prices. Also, the people who go here tend to smell weird. We don't usually have any problems here. The staff is friendly and the matinees are reasonably priced. Last week we tried to enter with a Starbucks (they don't allow outside drinks) and I wasn't about to toss a $4 coffee, but the nice kid working the front allowed me to put it in an amc cup to bring it in. read more

I hate going to this theater, but in a pinch, it's the closest to my house. The theater is getting run down and the employees don't clean it as well as they should. Things in the concession stand seem to break down on a regular basis so you can't even get the overpriced drink/icee that you want. Parking is a pain in the behind because there are so many other businesses eating it up in the plaza. They offer valet parking, but that's limited and who wants to pay even more than we're already going to? They need to either discount the ticket prices or put some effort into reviving this location. read more

Disgusting/Dirty Theatre in need of repair and manager Nicole is not customer friendly!! We had a problem with 3rd party tickets, and manger Nicole was incredibly unpleasant with poor leadership!! She said to come back the next day when the movie starts to get passes, and when we returned to the theatre, Nicole's staff would not give the passes. Of course Nicole was not present, and she probably knew she would not be at the theatre the next day. Nicole and staff treated us like we're "criminals" rather than "customers", and NO NOTES were left of what Nicole Promised the day before. Incredibly POOR management, and when we visited the restroom while waiting and waiting to get a REFUND rather than the passes as promised, we were horrified by the disgusting/dirty restrooms and doors that had peeling paint and faucets and toilets that were disgusting and in disrepair!! Very unpleasant experience, and such a waste of time along with "HORRIBLE" customer service!!! We will be writing a long "detailed" letter to AMC Corporate, and we will WARN everyone we know "friends and relatives" + social media to NEVER go to this SICK Deer Valley AMC Theatre!!!! read more
