I actually like this theater since they converted it to the reclining seats format. There are fewer seats per auditorium and far more comfortable than the older style seats. I am an AMC stubs member and often take advantage of the Tuesday and Wednesdays matinee discounts. I almost always avoid the OBSCENELY OVERPRICED concession offerings. Use the AMC stubs system for rewards and savings and movie going can actually be a bargain. I actually live much closer to the AMC theaters at the Rockaway Mall, but drive to the E. Hanover location to sit in the more comfortable recliner seats. 4 out of 5 is deserved in my opinion because no theater is or ever could be perfect. Just sayin.... read more

A nice theater to watch a movie. It probably can use a quick spruce up to the chairs. The popcorn is tasty. The restrooms definitely need a big remodel. It smells! I go here every time it want to see a movie because it's the closest. I joined their A-List subscription program so I can see four movies a month in any format with no reservation fees and no additional fees. The seats are recliners and comfortable and the staff is friendly. The restrooms are clean and I have never had any issues with the movie as far as the sound and the actual movie. read more

Came to this theater for a Meetup and honestly I plan to NEVER return. The concession line was extremely long and the person working seems to work even slower rather than speeding up. They didn't honor the A-List plus line so it was either get on the long line or skip it. I chose to skip it and return later. When I returned half an hour later, the line was still just as long. I visited the bathroom and it was disgusting. They clearly didn't keep up with cleaning. This was a matinee show so there's no reason for it to be that foul that early. The movie didn't seem to have surround sound in the theater which was surprising since this movie had several sold out shows, meaning this was probably one of their better theaters. read more

Large reserved seats and reclining seats make it a much better experience. And a large bucket of popcorn still no where to sit but between folks with the arm rest up. Not bad for a matinee where you have $10 tickets. And a large popcorn is $11 with tax, a dollar less for regular. Came recently and reviewing it now though I've been here countless times from preteen to present. I still, years later have to get used to the computerized selection but it's kinda cool at the same time. The overall theater is pretty big, it always has been but the now the not so new reclining chairs are a nice addition. The workers were mostly a young crew which is mixed bag. The young lady who helped me pay and get checked in was nice The theaters were virtually empty but the bathrooms and theaters could've been touched up a bit. A young man came through after our showing but didn't look ready to clean, just coming through to 'check' the theater. The thing I like most about this theater is the large scale parking which even less of a problem now as the pandemic unfortunately continues. It's always been doable to find parki g here, this hasn't changed. Also plenty of restaurants nearby if you don't want AMC food and snack. read more

REVIEW UPDATE: I've avoided going to this AMC for years mainly due to my memories of the theater when I was a teen (see previous review). I had heard that they renovated years ago, but was still wary. A few weeks ago, I saw Clerks III on the Tuesday it came out in theaters. I was surprised by the turnout on a weeknight here. At the EH AMC that night, I had a good movie watching experience - the projection and sound were good; the theater we were in was clean; and the seats were very comfortable. Normally I don't get anything from the concession stand, but this time I splurged and bought a box of candy for my partner and a ridiculously enormous fountain drink for myself. Haven't been in this theater for MANY years. Recently saw a show. The theater and seats looked clean. Love the living room style cushioned reclining seats! Snacks are expensive but that's in any theater. The bathrooms need a redo, however, they're still the same decor as when I picked up my kids here in the 90's & early 00's. Parking is sufficient. Staff was helpful, thankfully they had enough staff, I know a lot of other places are having a hard time finding employees. I get it. Cabaret is a 50 year old film. I get it. Films back then had (gasp) QUIET MOMENTS! I also get most of this freakish movie classic is frankly unwatchable for its horrifically bad acting, the incredibly insipid and ham fisted "messages" and that freaky Grey dude but even before the first frame of the flick came on the screen, all the previews and commercials were WASHED OUT! No color at all, faded, and awful. So the movie looked like a seventh print of a lost copy lying in someone's garage baking for all fifty years. Then remember the QUIET MOMENTS, Old Chum? Not at AMC East Hanover! You see, someone forgot to soundproof the theaters so while she's trying to act up a storm in her early 1970's Roe v. Wade moment, where "getting rid" of little Chile Bowles on a "whim", Tommy Cruise is hitting Mach 7 to the right in the one theater next door and some other film next door on the other side had someone screaming to the left. Yeah I know it was twelve bucks Old Chum but this was absurd. And even if this properly shown full color without noise bleeds, it's no secret why Godfather won best picture that year! read more

Good Times, Bad Times, It's a pretty decent Theater that's usually well staffed and well maintained. But on the few occasions when it is understaffed you can expect one terrible time at the Movies!  Good Times- it's got very roomy and comfortable reclining seats. When all is right here you'll find the bathrooms are nice and clean. Also when the Popcorn and Nachos are on point, it's a very good situation to be in. Just sit back and enjoy your snacks while you watch the latest and greatest of Movies.  Bad Times- at peak Movie times it's crowded and that's understandable, but don't you have to be ready for this? I mean There's garbage all over the place. Don't they have someone for this between showings? I left there once with sticky stuff all over my pants. And No that was Not from me.  This Theater is convenient for everyone in the East Hanover area and for the most part you will have an enjoyable experience here. AMC should be absolutely ashamed of the conditions of this theater ESPECIALLY given COVID-19.  I expected the conditions to be CLEAN unfortunately it was the complete opposite.  AMC's website they assure visitors that they take COVID-19 very seriously and all locations are sanitized and clean which is fact is a FALSE statement. You're website also states those not vaccinated are asked to wear a mask, another false statement.  1. For the love of God.... PLEASE CLEAN the AMC EAST HANOVER 12 theater! Every square inch was not just dirty but down right FILTHY!  Although I only took a couple pictures,  I absolutely regret not taking more. From the concession stand to restroom to theater... all of it was just gross ESPECIALLY given just coming out of a pandemic. Frankly, I could not believe what I was seeing. We are new to the area and decided to come to the movies. We are frequent AMC theatre goers. They are short staffed and as this is summer time, summer youth camps have been coming in and out all day (according to the staff). This is not the best time to come to this theatre. They have literally no snack options or drinks. Many machines were empty of drinks and they didn't have snack boxes to place your foods. My husband had to pretty much hold his nacho chips & cheese, not very easy and said it tasted terrible. The snack/drink area was a terrible mess, soda and trash everywhere, it was so sticky and we slipped on the floor. I can understand the difficulty of having large groups of youth campers, and I'm sure the theatre is short staffed, but the mess and lack of options of snacks was very disappointing, not to mention unsafe!! When you're paying so much for movie tickets and food, some cleanliness should not be too much to ask. We most likely will be taking our business to other AMC theatres for the future. read more

I've been to this theater on many occasions, but I am seriously questioning whether I will return. Last night we watched "the menu" which was a pretty good, thrilling and bizarre movie. It was actually the only reason we stayed because we wanted to see the outcome. The movie theater was so freaking cold. We thought we were prepared because we always wear hoodies and a base layer, but my feet were freezing and my girlfriend was so cold that she swearsshe's going to be sick today. She told someone on our way out and they said they were sorry someone had turned on the air conditioning. The air conditioning!? It's the end of November. And this is not the first time it was very cold in there. Someone needs to be on top of this. by the way, I'm giving this two stars instead of one because my seat worked (this time) and the sound was not obnoxiously loud. The theater is trying to slack off. Walking through the corridor and walking through poocorn all over. Not acceptable. Theater 11 today was a little on the warm side, which is not usual the case in any of there theaters. The temp is normally pretty consistent here. The staff is usually the reason why I give this theater high stars most the time. They are always really friendly and helpful when needed when I visit. It's been awhile since I've been to a movie theater, would often prefer to sit home and watch movies on my big screen with surround sound. Decided to go see the new Star Wars movie and figured a theater was the way to go. Went to a matinee and to the premium theater with the assigned seating and recliners - now that's the way to see a movie. Matinee tickets were only 9.99 which seemed pretty reasonable to pick your own seat, and have it be a nice big recliner. As others mentioned the parking is a pain in the garage next door (free). If you pay online you can beat the line and you save the online fees if you join their loyalty club. The screen was crystal clear, sound was a little disappointing - not the rumble I expected for an action movie, and the dialogue was a little hard to hear. Also got cold in the theater and I never get cold. All in all good experience, will go back for sure. read more

We had to go to this movie theater because we usually go to the AMC in Wayne near Willowbrook but the timing just did not meet our schedule. All in all the theater was very clean but the people working there definitely need to be taught some customer service skills. They also did not have enough staff on hand to accommodate on a Tuesday night. They had one person working the popcorn machine register soda Etc so we had to wait a while until we actually had our order. We were then finally able to get to the theater and miss the first few minutes which wasn't a big deal but they should have definitely gotten us our refreshments and popcorn faster than they did. The soda tasted really off yesterday when I went. I got regular coke and the taste was completely off. Not at all pleasant! Yuck! The seats are leather fully reclining. My wife and I went to this AMC theatre to watch Where the Crawdads Sing! The next day I noticed my credit card was missing. After retracing our steps over the last few days, I thought we should check with the movie theatre. Instead of calling, I thought it would be easier to visit the theatre and explain my situation. I met with a manager named Kevin and he couldn't have been more accommodating. After checking lost and found with no luck, Kevin asked me if I wanted to stick around for a few minutes and we would go check the specific Seat I sat in the day before. He turned up the lights, pulled the seat out and and found the card in the spring of the seat. I don't usually write reviews for anything but Kevin went out of his way and exemplified what customer service is all about. We enjoyed the movie too! read more

Poor customer service. Unwilling to provide a bag or cup to share popcorn with. They blamed corporate policy on this and stated we had to pay for a $8 cup in order to share popcorn with my child. Unfortunately for me, I decided to get food at the theatre this time since I was watching Avengers: Endgame and I wanted to satisfy my hunger for the three hours. The employees tonight were clearly disinterested in dealing with customers and it really showed. My friend and I waited on the regular snack line (which was actually much shorter than the A-list priority line) for service but there was only one cashier available so there was no indication of the intervals between regular and priority list customers. After about four customers were served first from the A-list line, the employee who was in charge of the cashier looked towards our way but there was confusion between us and the next customer on the priority line. The employee never ended up taking initiative of the situation but thankfully another employee ended up showing up to work the other cash register. I'm a relatively patient person but I can see how some other customers could get irked by that. My friend and I shared a large popcorn which was overpriced but expected when you generally buy food from a movie theatre. At this point, I'm slightly annoyed but I can accept that employees are vulnerable to bad days. I wish it ended there. There was one butter machine that was out of order (not marked) and the counters by the drink machines were filthy. There was an employee by the drinking machines but he just appeared to be there to take a quick drink break. With the photos I've attached to this review, I don't think this is something you simply can ignore and not address. I struggled to find a clean spot to place my popcorn without the bottom getting sticky from residual soft drink stains on the counters. To me, that is not acceptable. The only positive things I can say after my experience tonight were that the actual seat I sat in inside the theatre was clean and the movie itself. You may find yourself better off avoiding the food portion of the movie theatre if possible or choosing a different theatre altogether. Disappointing. read more
