The seats were super comfortable. Nice to lean back in, for the Dolby theater. Staff were great. Great. Nobody bothered me about bringing a giant water bottle, which was quite honestly just filled with regular water. Times to fill it with more water. We got pretzel bites which were delicious, and popcorn chicken which went well with the hot honey sauce. It was great to come in early and finish our snacks so that we could enjoy the movie without sticky fingers. I'm not sure if the noise level was just because this was a Nolan film, or if all movies are like this nowaday. I don't want to keep coming to movie theaters that require me to bring my own ear plugs.

I usually get popcorn and chicken tenders every time I visit, and they are always fresh and prepared well. Overall, I have never had any big issues with this theater. That said, I definitely feel like the place could use little bit of renovations, as the decor looks a bit one toned and outdated. It doesn't take away from the experience I have there but a decor refresh would definitely add a lovely touch. One thing I would mention is the pricing of the popcorn/snacks - a standard size popcorn for $10 plus is just wild ($10.47 to be precise). If they could lower the prices a bit, it would be a win win situation for everyone. Needless to say, I always enjoy my movie time here and will always keep coming back. This place had been on my radar for some time when my friend invited me to come watch a screening of one of our favorite foreign horror films. I literally could not turn down a screening of little otik (If you haven't seen it and you like dark comedy/horror be sure to check it out). I arrived about 20 mins early, and had no trouble finding parking, which was honestly a surprise on this stretch of Broadway, but I parked, walked in, and was hit with nostalgia immediately at the scent of old school popcorn, and the community of folks that had gathered to watch this movie. I say community because I feel like Stray Cat invites you in, whoever you are, and the folks that are there are just as interested in watching what's on screen, as they are in chatting with others that share their interest in art and film. To me, being now a parent living in the suburbs, it was like coming up for a breath of fresh air to mingle with some folks that I don't often get a chance to visit with in my day to day. The movies are affordable here, I think it was maybe $7? And, they have soda, sparkling water, beer, and plenty of fun snacks available for purchase at the concession. It's very casual, and the folks working here are some of the kindest you'll find in KC. Only thing I'd improve are the seats as they are just as old school as the venue itself, I'm torn on if it lends to charm, or if they could really do with some more comfortable chairs, but regardless this is still a five star venue, and I know I'll be back to bask in a trip back in time.

Every year the website updates the list of restaurants participating in the deal. Reservations book up FAST so keep that in mind when planning your meals. One thing that I do is look up multiple menus at once and see which restaurants are a really good deal because I will admit some of the restaurants are particularly a good deal but for the most part they are. With the pandemic, many restaurants are even offering the restaurant week deals for to-go in case you are not comfortable dining in. A couple of tips to keep in mind when eating at restaurants during this week. 1. many of the restaurants pre-prepare the restaurant week menu to keep up with the amount of those dishes they are turning out 2. many restaurants book up really quick and get very busy- be mindful with the waitstaff during this 3. you don't have to get the restaurant week deal even if you go to a restaurant during this week I highly recommend participating in this week as it is a great way to explore the city in different areas. Sometimes you even discover restaurants you love and become regulars at!

It is a really, really great opportunity to get a preview, an insight, a look-see at a restaurant. But it is an absolutely horrible time to try to make a definitive judgement about a restaurant. You may indeed catch them on a slow night or with such an integrated menu that the experience is one and the same, but I think that such an experience is the exception, rather than the rule. Foodie fatty that I am, I embarked last Friday on a very ambitious program: to go to a different restaurant every day of restaurant week. Furthermore, go to those places that I wouldn't "ordinarily" go to. That is, ignore my tried-and-true favorite of the Rieger, the Westside Local, Pot Pie, etc. because I know I love them and RW isn't going to change that. Instead, go to those places that I wouldn't normally go frequently/haven't made it to. What that ended up doing was adding places like the American, Cafe Sebastienne, Pierpont's, etc. to my list. The reason I didn't wait until the end of this week to write this review is because I want to tell you how colossally stupid you are if you let a week like this go by and you miss the opportunity to eat at a Restaurant like Michael Smith, Webster House, Justus, the American, or Pierpont's for THIRTY DOLLARS for a 3 to 4 course meal. You don't have to pick those restaurants, but if you don't take advantage of this week, you're not taking advantage of: 1) the financial part of this promotion - 1, it's for charity (proceeds go to Harvester), 2, it's incredibly inexpensive 2) the chance/excuse/opportunity to bring out your friends who don't ordinarily dine out during a time when you can't use a holiday as an excuse. Now, go out and make this last weekend of Restaurant Week count. You have 3 days. PS I'm pretty certain that 9 days of eating out will add 15 cumulative pounds to my life. I happily went and was thrilled that it was being staged again here recently, at the indoor theater inside the newly renovated, gorgeous Johnson County Heritage Center, which by itself is a must-do in KC. I was a bit nervous because the actors/singers in this version were all teenagers, not professionals. But oh my goodness I should not have been worried- they were INCREDIBLE!!! The show is a master class in beautiful 1950's style 4-part harmony, and these young men were so impressive. Definitely one of the best versions of the show that I've seen!! I went on the last day of the run, and I wish I'd gone earlier so I could've seen it again. This was my first time seeing a show at this venue, but I'll definitely be back for more. The theater is small, about the size of KC Musical Heritage Society (I think that's what it's called???) at Crown Center, but the chairs are very comfortable and we didn't feel crowded at all. There's not a bad seat in the house.
