Located in a very safe and friendly part of town, AMC 17 is located in an area that is within walking distance of places that everyone in the whole family can enjoy. As developers are more geared towards the "outside mall" theme for convenience, these modern amalgamations of mall and strip mall have seemed to be the flavor of the day. Moreover, the convenience of getting in and out of the area is easy considering the two main streets it resides on within a stone's throw from the highway. One can argue the anchor store or interest point is AMC Theatres. Walking in I always feel like a kid with the obnoxious carpet patterns, smell of butter on popcorn wafting through the air and larger than life movie posters all over the place. Yes, going to the movies is still experience, no matter how good your home theatre is and how much easier streaming can be (not to mention cheaper). The food here is pretty good, not great however the price doesn't match the quality. Again, that's a theatre for you. When I do decide on ordering food while watching a movie, I don't like messy things like burgers. So, I stick to simple things like pizza, popcorn, fries and chicken fingers. Oh and as someone that worked at AMC in the past I'll give you a little tip, the secret to the popcorn is using a majority coconut butter. It's what sets their popcorn apart however it also costs a bit more. This facility is clean and most of the auditoriums have very up to date audio and video equipment including Dolby ATMOS and IMAX. I'm not sure of the speaker count but needless to say, you'll hear it from every seat in the auditorium. They do a good job keeping things cleaned between the movies as I don't ever really see food or trash around my chair. I still believe AMC has the best movie experience out there. Overall, the people at this AMC are pretty nice although you won't be interacting with them much, the facility is clean and the movie experience itself is unmatched. Even if you have other options, I suggest using this AMC over competitors as quality matters. read more

This is a great Neighbourhood at an amazing movie theaters in Woodland Park. It is situated in a very unique place surrounded by multiple restaurants, and as I have limited screens, but the maintenance of this theater is really good. I am very disappointed with how their food is because I don't think they have a lot of options at the same time. Their food is not being up to the Marc quality. I find these theaters to be extremely pricey, but they do have a very neat indoors and the Theatres are clean. We go there every time with our friends and family and enjoy it. They do have a studio theater and a reclining 3-D effect Theatre too. read more

I like this theater and it's a fun experience with the different viewing types but it seems like the chaperone policy is non existent or not enforced. The last two movies I went to see were over run with high school and middle school aged boys, constantly changing seats, talking at full volume, on their phones and using any quiet moments to make announcements or moan. I will say I received a warm, friendly greeting when I arrived for my first visit to this theater, which was very nice. I wish I remembered the employee's name, but I'm sorry I don't. Unless I'm missing a secret portal somewhere, access to the theater doesn't seem very convenient at all. Why the main entrance opens to a street where no one can park mystifies me. I had purchased my ticket online so check in was fast once I got inside. It's not the freshest looking place, but it seemed pretty clean considering. The chair worked well (sometimes they don't). As I left, the person who was coming in to clean came CHARGING into the door and nearly knocked me over, which was a tad annoying. I guess with about any theater around it's a bit of a walk, just this one seemed annoying that there isn't a side door (unless I missed seeing it.) read more

This USED to be our go-to place to see movies. We loved being waited on in the auditorium and enjoyed the nice new seats and food options. This place has gone downhill badly since taken over by AMC. I was hoping they would make improvements since they are such a huge chain, but we had to go stand in line twice after booking our seats online as the chairs are an absolute wreck in most auditoriums. They are all ripped and scratch when you sit in them. Also the recliners only have the legs portion of the recliner go up about half way and the backs do not recline. Not really clean, needs major attention and upgrades and the top row always has the aisle wall too high and it is blocking the bottom portion of the movie screen. Really hope they make massive improvements soon or this location will not make it. read more

This movie theater is a bit out of the way for me. But recently I have been here twice this year. It's in a good area of Prairiefire and AMC took over this theater from another company. They kept the same layout and maybe spruce it up a bit. Don't look like much, but seat are okay, screen are huge, sound systems is hella loud though. Our experience was thwarted due to no one understanding that listening is free, and reading is fundamental. I exchanged our 2:10 movie for the 12:20 movie. The young lady at the register didn't know what she was doing (mind you that an exchange process at AMC 20 is seamless) & I found myself standing there for over 10 minutes. They then give me the tickets and tell me theater 6. I get my grandkids settled and there's no preview or anything for that matter playing on the big screen. I go out to ask, and a young lady says she'll let someone know. A few moments later I was told that they told us the wrong theatre and that they don't have a 12:20 movie!!!!!! Keep in mind that I have tickets that say 12:20... I try and speak with a manager and he wants to immediately placate me with guest passes. We get to our new and correct theater late because of all the lackadaisical people that kept getting it wrong. There was no apology from the manager and I won't suggest this once amazing theater to anyone again. I know bc I was in the group with the two minors they let in. Manager also wouldn't give me the persons name or a refund, made us drive 20 mins for one persons ID with no refund. The food was fantastic, the movie was great, but OMG our chairs were these accent chairs like you might find in a lobby of a motel and they were old and saggy and only slightly more comfortable than a metal folding chair. Other seats had an ottoman but ours and the trap house couch next to us did not. The couch was draped in some kind of sheet to cover up God knows what. I can't believe AMC headquarters is just ten minutes away from this travesty! The staff was great and everyone was very helpful. This is a nice building, in a great area. Video and audio quality in the theatre seems on par with what you'd expect out of an AMC. There is always a free parking spot in the large parking garage next door. Plenty of places to eat nearby before or after your movie. Unfortunately, I was disappointed during my last visit. Their Coca Cola freestyle machines had either too little carbonation or too much, and the seats in the dine-in theatre were outdated and didn't recline. It's these little things that make a big difference in my moviegoing experience, when they're half of what makes me want to go to the theatre in the first place. read more

I came here when it was cinetopia. AMC has not improved the situation. Both companies are providing mediocre experiences. It felt empty from start to finish here. Maybe it was the staff or maybe it was the interior. Or the lack of movie goers. We did have an issue finding our theater since there was no sign out front telling us what movie was playing inside. We did the dine-in theater for a girls afternoon out. I've been to Prairiefire years ago and to the Olathe dine-in AMC theater, too so I knew what to expect. I've eaten at AMC dine-in theaters since they opened in KC. It's not epic food, but it's usually hot and fresh and on par with places like Applebees. The staff and manager were very sweet, greeting us the moment we walked in and showing off their Chief socks. Two of our group expressed an interest in the Stubs club and the staff was very helpful. The theater itself is a beautiful building in a nice walking neighborhood. We decided not to eat in any of the neighborhood restaurants, but to have our food at the dine-in theater. My friend's flatbread pepperoni pizza was very good. Popcorn was fresh and lovely. My other friend had the cobb salad. She asked if it was a large salad because she was very hungry; they assured her it was a big salad. The salad arrived at our seats, and it was the size of a large side salad. That would have been okay if it was a normal cobb salad, but this had a huge scoop of cottage cheese on one side, which was not listed as one of the ingredients. My friend scooped that off and tried to enjoy what was left of her salad but left less than satisfied. Her salad was around $13.50, so it wasn't a cheap salad. I had the Big Bite appetizer sampler, which is mozzarella sticks, onion rings, boneless wings, and pretzel bites with a selection of dipping sauces. I specifically asked for ketchup and buffalo wing sauce. At $15, mine was the most expensive dish. The mozzarella sticks were fresh, but everything else on the plate had either been cooked too long or reheated. It was inedible and I am not a picky eater. The chicken was hard and dry as were the onion rings. Buffalo sauce may have helped, but they didn't bring it with the order, it's a hike to get back to the concession stand so I attempted to make do. The pretzel bites are not actually bites, but a large pretzel stick that's been diced into 4 pieces. They didn't put butter or anything on the outside of the pretzels, so the salt didn't stick to them, and they were dried out. The cheddar beer dipping sauce was actually good and might have helped, but of all the sauces that was the only container that was half full. I normally don't do many reviews on Yelp, but this was not only a mess, but it was also an expensive mess. My large popcorn and soda was $16.99 (at least that was edible). The sampler was another $15. My tab was over $30 I took almost the whole thing home for the racoons that frequent my deck at night. Do better Prariefire. This is not high cuisine; it should at least be edible. read more

This is the closest theatre to us, we have the A-list membership.. however, the seats in Auditorium 1-2 are very outdated and uncomfortable. The other auditoriums are good but to be honest last weekend they have forgotten to close the doors and we could clearly hear another movie while we were watching our movie. The food is a little bit overpriced but that is okay. I wish we could use our rewards at the bar, but instead we spend it on food... The auditoriums are not always clean. I feel like they do not have enough staff and they forget to close the doors or to clean properly between movies. They do have Apple Pay now, which is good. The sizes in food are too big. I wish they had smaller sizes of popcorn or that it was cheaper. Sometimes the popcorn is chewy and not fresh. However, their flatbread pizza is really good. Their wraps too are amazing, I recommend their Cobb salad in a wrap. Also, their staff is very friendly and kind, they just need more of them :) read more

Love this AMC location! The whole place is beautiful complete with an escalator and available valet parking. This whole Prairie Fire area is a booming place with top notched amenities. Their dine-in theaters have very comfortable recliners which my bottom and back appreciate after a few hours. I also enjoy how the theaters are smaller so it feels more intimate. My only complaint if I had to give one is parking. It's covered but pretty busy so you have to circle upwards to find parking at times. Nothing elevators or a jog can't handle though. Really glad that Johnson County has this option! read more

Not impressed with what AMC has done. Taken out the entry video boards. Slow service. Uncomfortable seats. My biggest complaints were the overflowing trash cans... EVERYONE(bathroom, hallway, etc). Seems the high school staff didn't get the service training that say the Olathe staff got. read more

Went to see 1917 last night. Good show. The theater seating and sound was good. Reasonable prices on Tuesday as long as you sign up for AMC rewards account which is free. Tickets were just over $5 per person. My only complaint and why I give this 3 star instead of 4 is because they didn't have any fountain drinks available. Kind of unbelievable for a large corporate movie theater. Apparently they were getting ready for a new coke freestyle machine and didn't have any other options. Thinking AMC could have timed the upgrade during non business hours. read more

Ok...can we get the Old Cinetopia back??? AMC ruined this one! We loved the waitstaff in previous theatre..LOVED the OLD menu which was right on price point and quality with any restaurant and we could double up on a palatable dinner and movie in one stop! Cinetopia has its initial growing pains at first open with its waitstaff, but it became our favorite place for dinner and a movie...in our opinion it was a well kept secret that the food was very affordable and much tastier than typical theaters. We loved sharing a bottle of wine and eating our favorite wraps, salads and sandwiches..amazing dry rub wings..now they are GONE!! Had the wings last night during the showing of Rocketman..and were AWFUL and cost almost $4 more than Cinetopia's menu. The same old glorified theatre food here and the reason why we haven't been to an AMC theatre since Cinetopia opened years ago. Here's hoping AMC is planning on making things better here than what they typically do by providing the same old thing they do at every other AMC...gonna be hard to get me to go back and do anything but spend money on just the movie. read more

Now that cinetopia is owned by AMC I was very disappointed with my recent experience. We went to see Late Night on a Friday. We had to order our food an drinks at the bar. I understand the bar had just opened and the staff was still trying to figure everything out, but we waited in line for a long time to order. The prices on the drink menu were not accurate. A bottle of boulevard pale ale was $9.50 and my strawberry lemonade was two dollars more than the price listed on the AMC drink menu. We tried to order the appetizer sampler to share but it wasn't available. We ended up getting chicken tenders (which were $16!) The only positive was that our food was delivered to our seats quickly and the service overall was good. read more

Went to see a 3 hour movie. First time at this AMC because the one by my house is being remodeled. The seats did not recline at all! And there were no feet rest. It was like a tall seat from when you would go to the theater in the late 90s early 2000s. The space to walk in front to get to your seat was very narrow so people had to move their legs to the side to get past you. Only thing nice about this place was the fancy concession stand w food options and milk shakes. read more
